It is a start/stop push button so there was no way to get it in gear to move it. Everything was completely locked up. I had my child in my car with me. If we had been 10 minutes further into my trip, I would have been on the highway and we probably would have been killed as a result of the car just shutting off. I had to have it towed and am waiting to hear what the repair shop finds but they are expecting an electrical short. I see this is a problem with the hybrids of the same time period. I think you need to investigate the non-hybrid cars as well.

- Summary: We bought the van on 03/31/2022. On 08/31/2023 we went to get into the van, while it was parked outside of our home, and I tried to start it up but it wouldn't start. I had my mechanic look at it and he said it would need a new engine. I"m so glad that it happened in front of my house or else I would have been stranded somewhere with my kids- which would have been very dangerous. There were no symptoms or indicators of the problem before it happened. It happened out of nowhere. Our warranty on the vehicle expired 5 months prior to it breaking down so we haven't taken it to the dealer. We can't afford it. Before it broke down it went to every single service appointment and was up to date on every oil change/ service it needed.

SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-06-01
- VIN: 2C4RC1BG7HR
- Components: SERVICE BRAKES
- Summary: We have tried to figure out what is going on with our brakes for months now. We have changed our brakes to new brakes and took into two car repair shops. Both even after explaining to them couldn’t figure it out because it does not do it all the time. We thought it could be the brake booster or something but they don’t want to changed it if it’s not Our brakes become hard will not brake even to the point we can’t stop and slide through lights almost like we are on ice. This has happened many many times. We just recently have been reading forums to see if this is happening to anyone else and there are so many complaints! This is so scary to drive espically with teens and two little ones and winter drives. We expect a recall soon or someone will be sued asap
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE PROBLEM

- VIN: 2C4RC1GG1HR
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
- Summary: Intermittently my van will lose power, all dash lights will pop up, active parksense unavailable, service required , blind spot alert temporarily unavailable , service shifter, fcw unavailable service required, service electronic stability control will pop up on the dash and in the message center. Code p0420 has popped up on a reader. Several trips to the dealership purchased at, and they cannot figure out the issues. I have 2 kids, this is a major safety concern. I had it shutdown on a highway 3 weeks ago with my 9 month old in the van. Recall list says everything was repaired, but it seems there needs to be more recalls. These vans are not safe. Recall them all. Chrysler is going to end up with a lawsuit. I think this is a major defect on the electrical and computer systems. When driving the van it will show I'm doing 70 but really 35mph. The van will rough idle. Again these are all intermittent issues that happen all at once. It seems like the van will reset itself once it's sat overnight. We just bought the van in May 2024 and this started a few weeks later. Very frustrating. The dealership won't buy it back, they can't figure out what the issue is. I

ENGINE PROBLEM

- Summary: Purchased 2017 Pacifica Limited in [XXX] from Carmax. 38K miles. Purchased Carmax 100K warranty. Within 90 day Carmax dealer repair warranty, Misfire cylinder 3 check engine light came on. Carmax replaced coil, injector etc. Cleared check engine light. June 24 Misfire cylinder 5 check engine light came on. Vehicle never over heated. Took the vehicle to independent repair shop that performs MaxCare warranty work. Diagnosis: Blown head gaskets. 950/? in coolant when tested. 3 week parts B/O. That would indicate many problems. Chrysler Pacifica Forums have hundreds of blown head gasket entries for years 2017-18. The blown head gaskets were causing rough starts, rough idling, and stalls. Additionally, I don't know why this has not been addressed as a safety issue. When this started occurring, my wife would have to hit the START button 2-3-4 times to get it to start and then it ran rough for a few minutes. Some times stall. The Start/Stop feature is affected when the engine does not rapidly start when the pedal is pushed. This is a big safety issue when on the road and in traffic. ENGINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-07-10
- VIN: 2C4RC1BG0HR
- Components: ENGINE
- Summary: I have researched this and it seems to be a problem that is very common to the Pacificas. Some examples can be found here, but there are hundreds of reports of this across the Internet. [XXX] The problem is twofold. 1. The plastic oil cooler that Chrysler uses on these vehicles is substandard and will fail. Typically this happens just outside of warranty. These parts were made to fail which induces a very expensive repair. 2. There is a very common issue with the head gaskets on these vans. So much so, that when I had one of them replaced on my van the service advisor suggested I do them both because he said the other one would fail soon. He said it happens all the time on these vans. I spent almost $4000 to have one replaced, there is no way I could afford to have more done. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-05-17
- VIN: 2C4RC1GG7HR
- Components: SERVICE BRAKES
- Summary: The Brake Booster created unsafe vehicle handling/driving . Safety was at risk as the car would not remain stopped when the brake pedal was pushed. The pedal would resist pressure and the car would move forward into instersections, cars in front of this car, and it required that I place the car in Park to stop the car. The part has been replaced and the brakes work as they should. There was a recall of the 2018-20 Chrysler Pacificas for the same reason. I read that others have experienced this Brake Booster problem with other years, excluding 2018-20. Lives of the people in the car were at risk until this was fixed. Also, it was not noted on the Chrysler computer check as a problem. I had to insist that it was happening in order to get this repaired. There has been precedence for this malfunctioning part and I request that I am reimbursed what I paid for repair, along with a recall issued. Lives are at risk!
ENGINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-07-30
- VIN: 2C4RC1BG1HR

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-06-25
- VIN: 2C4RC1GG7HR
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
- Summary: I was driving my car and approached at a stop sign. The car stopped and froze. The shifter knob lights were out and I was unable to move the car or shift the gears into neutral . ( The engine turned on ,but I could not move my car.) I had the car towed to my autodealership. Since then, the car has repeatedly started, but the shifter is frozen. My dealership has spent a month telling me they don't know how to fix the car. The dealership has been trying one thing after the other, they tell me, yet within a week my car is not functioning. The dealership installed new programming. a week ago.. A few days afterwards, while I was slowing down in city traffic, the dashboard filled with error messages and the car became extremely bumpy to drive. Today, I just had the car towed again to the dealership. The car started, but the shifter was not functioning with an error message "Service Shifter." The car shifter randomly worked once the tow truck arrived, but still had the engine light on. I await to see if the car can be fixed.
UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-08-07
- VIN: 2C4RC1BG2HR
- Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: We continue to get errors with the Start/stop technology. Three times since 2018 the indicator light came on while driving stating start/stop errors. On one occasion we lost power on a freeway and had to quickly pull off the highway when the vehicle went into limp mode. That repair was covered by warranty. In other cases we have replaced batteries but they soon die and produce the same warnings before a normal life span of a battery. We have repair recipients to document.

My wife loved her Sienna, and while I personally didn't enjoy it as much, it was a reliable vehicle with only one minor issue. We sold it when we moved overseas, and upon returning to the states, we decided to purchase a Mazda5 for its fuel efficiency. However, with the addition of our third child, we quickly realized that it was not spacious enough for our needs. Despite my initial preference for an Odyssey, my wife was set on a Sienna. However, after test driving the Pacifica, we were both impressed with its features, including the sunroofs, seats, and storage. We ultimately decided on the Pacifica, and have been very happy with our choice. We added 10 inch TV/DVD players ourselves for a fraction of the cost of the entertainment package, and have found the van to be well-designed and enjoyable to drive. It's great to hear that the van is performing better than expected! It's also wonderful to hear that you and your partner are both happy with your purchase. I hope you have a fantastic trip in it. It's also great to hear that you haven't encountered any issues with the van, unlike some of the stories you may have heard about other Toyota models.

While on vacation in Hilton Head Island, I rented a '17 Pacifica to transport my girlfriend, our two bikes, and two kayaks back to Pittsburgh. Despite my bad back, the 700-mile trip (mostly at 80-90 mph, even with kayaks on the roof) did not leave me feeling sore. I was so impressed that I bought one for my job delivering auto parts to remote areas in western PA. Since the end of 2018, I have driven over 227,000 miles with zero engine problems, even with the same spark plugs. I only recently had my first repair when the front driver's side wheel bearing went bad. At 10k miles, the electrical system started acting up occasionally, but all of the issues have self-healed except for the USB not working 15% of the time. At 182k, the transmission started hard shifting, which is a somewhat common issue. The transmission shop said failure was imminent, but I found that if I accelerate briskly from 0-15mph or really slowly, it doesn't happen. Now, at 227k, it's only gotten a little worse. The dealer said the trans fluid is 'lifetime' and wouldn't change it, but this is only true if lifetime = less than 100k miles. At 140k, it started humming just before upshifting around 45-50mph. Perhaps if I had changed the oil at 50k instead of 140k, I wouldn't be having a line pressure issue. To change it, you need to remove the driver's side front wheel and siphon about 6 quarts of fluid. You've already done a great job with your van! Just a heads up, you can refill with Mopar 9 speed ATF which is about $50 a quart at the dealership and $25 on Rockauto.com. You'll need to buy a $25 special dip stick to make sure everything is in order. Despite some quirks, I'm still happy with the van. I'm looking at a quarter million miles with only one wheel bearing as an actual repair and, of course oil, trans and tire changes is pretty good. The mileage is still consistently in the high 20's and I do tow a Bayliner 175 about 4k miles a year (boat and trailer 2500lbs). The infotainment system on the base LX is not the best, but it's a mini van that's fast and super comfy to sit in. Plus, I paid $23,500 and saw some 2019's for closer to 22! So, all in all, it's a fine vehicle and not the ugliest mini van out there. -C'est la vie.

I am extremely satisfied with my new vehicle. It is much more convenient to get in and out of compared to my previous Town & Country. During our recent 500 mile trip, the ride was smooth and there was no wind noise. The design of the vehicle, both inside and out, is impressive and does not resemble a typical minivan. The only minor issue I have encountered is that the radio always turns on when the vehicle is started, but this can be easily resolved by using the mute button or turning down the volume before turning off the van. Overall, I am very pleased with my purchase and highly recommend it.

My wife and I are quite particular about the cars we drive, whether it's for leisure or work. During a recent visit to our local Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram dealership for an oil change on our 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee, we stumbled upon a stunning red minivan/SUV. We were both taken aback by its beauty and features, which is a rare occurrence for us after 32 years of marriage. The Limited model in the Red Pearl coat finish caught our eye, but we were hesitant about the price. Fortunately, the salesman showed us two other models, both in red pearl coat, and we settled on the Touring model. Although it lacked a few features of the more expensive model, it had 95% of the options and was perfect for our needs. After a 15-minute test drive, we negotiated a price and purchased the Pacifica. We spent a total of 5 hours at the dealership, but it was worth it. We've had the Pacifica for 5 days now and we love it more each day. As someone with Parkinson's and other health issues, I appreciate the ample space for my wheelchair and supplies, while my 82-year-old mother can easily get in and out of the vehicle. We're excited to use it for family functions out of town and enjoy the comfort it provides.Going over the things I commented on in previous post. I still stand behind them a year later. The Pacifica has made several trips to WVU Morgantown WV and the comfort and styling still feel new (in a good way). We are thrilled with our decision to buy it, as it is definitely the right automobile for us! Time sure flies, it's already 2018. Okay, right to it, the bad. I really would have liked the option of driver seat memory in the touring model. Being able to adjust the seat 9 ways is okay for one driver, but not for two or more. There have been 2 recalls, but they are both pre-emptive fixes. I'm glad it's not an emergency or safety issue. The good news is that we hit the 10,000 mile mark in December 2017 and it still feels new in many positive ways. Looking forward to putting the next 10,000 miles on it in 2018. It's already July 2018 and we have been in the Pacifica for 2 years now. Wow, 17,000 miles! We took it to the dealer's garage for an oil change and checkup and everything is still good. We still love it overall. If this Chrysler model were offered in AWD, we would jump on it and let go of our 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee. January 2019... Time flies, and our Pacifica too! Alright, the good to great; the ride is still smooth and the paint is holding up well through 2 1/2 years of driving. It has gone into daily driving and is no longer just a weekender automobile. We sold our 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee this past summer, so the Pacifica is now our main mode of transportation. It has performed very well on snow and ice during this light-weight winter. Now the cons; the memory option for the front seats or the driver-side 9-way seat controls. In my consumer opinion, these options should be standard equipment for all models of the Pacifica! I'm 6'2The 2019 models are out and there's a lot of talk about the hybrid. However, it's unlikely that we'll see an AWD Pacifica by 2020. While the Pacifica we have has done well in the snow and winter mix, we live in the Upper Ohio River Valley where many locations and some entire building additions have treacherous one-way up, one-way down access. AWD and 4x4 are necessary. It's been 3 years since we purchased the Pacifica and the ride is still great, with the interior and exterior holding up well. There have been 4 total recalls, ranging from computer updates to actual replacement of suspect parts, but our service center at the dealership is always a comfortable, stress-free environment. The staff are courteous and professional, keeping us updated on the service they are performing. They have flexible hours that make getting service appointments easier to make. Every employee you encounter greets you with a smile, and nobody tries to pressure you if you're checking out the showroom floor. The PROS are still pretty amazing. Will there be a 2020 AWD?

We are thrilled with this minivan! Although we have only had it for a month, we can confidently say that it is a fantastic vehicle. As it is still new, we cannot comment on maintenance costs or resale value. However, we can say that it has the highest gas mileage of any van we looked at, with an impressive 28 miles on the road. The moon roof is a standout feature, as it spans the entire length of the car. The seats are incredibly innovative, folding down into the floor of the car, which is a brilliant space-saving feature. The roof rack is also a great addition, tucking away neatly to save on gas mileage. The advertised price we paid for this beautiful car, inside and out, was without sales tax, other fees, and extended warranty. It is a very comfortable and easy car to drive, with so many features that we are still discovering. We are delighted with our purchase! Update: We have now owned the minivan for over 6 months and it is still an amazing vehicle! The only thing we would change is to have more hanging space for clothing. We bought some hooks that clip onto the headrest posts of the front seats, which has helped. We also noticed that the speed control does not always maintain the set speed when going downhill, but lowering the speed by one mile seems to hold the speed in check better. We bought rubber mats online to protect the interior carpeting. This is such a comfortable and easy ride that we are planning to take it camping this summer and are looking forward to sleeping inside with the moon roof open. We feel very fortunate to own such a luxurious vehicle!

During a trip from South Carolina to Tennessee, we experienced a scary incident on a mountain road. While in a pull off, I put the car in reverse and it malfunctioned. The transmission locked up, all the lights came on, and the parking brake lit up. After 15 minutes of trying to reset the car, we were finally able to drive home with no further issues. However, a few weeks later, my wife and three young daughters were almost in a serious accident when the transmission locked up while driving on a busy road. We immediately took the car to the dealership and after 2.5 weeks and 4,600 miles, we were told that the van was fixed and safe. Unfortunately, last week while driving on a busy 55 mph road with my wife and son's wife behind us, the transmission locked up again and we had to pull off the road. This was a very dangerous situation and we are lucky that no one was hurt. We have informed Chrysler that we no longer feel safe putting our family in any Pacifica and are requesting a refund. We hope that Chrysler will work with us to resolve this issue.

I hope you're doing well! I wanted to share my experience with my Pacifica so far. I've had it for two weeks now and overall I'm enjoying it. I got the limited model with a sunroof, which is a great feature. Unfortunately, I did notice that one of the screens on the UConnect wasn't working, but the dealership was quick to order a replacement. Another issue I encountered was some noise coming from the roof, which was a bit frustrating. I couldn't accurately rate the noise level due to this, but I've since learned that this is a known issue with Pacificas at this dealership. I'm hopeful that they'll be able to figure out and fix the problem soon. Overall, I'm still happy with my purchase and looking forward to enjoying my Pacifica even more once these issues are resolved.

We traded in our 2015 BMW 328d sport wagon for this van when we found out we were expecting our second child. The van has a plethora of features, too many to list, but some of them are a bit difficult to use. Unfortunately, there are too many simple operation steps embedded into the infotainment screen, which can be frustrating. Additionally, the computer is underpowered and the response time is extremely slow. We have also noticed a few mechanical issues with the transmission, as it doesn't seem to shift from park to drive or reverse very consistently. However, the van drives very smoothly and is extremely flexible. It's very easy to load and unload kids, strollers, and car seats. There's tons of space behind the 3rd row and even more with the 3rd row down. Finally, we've taken several good road trips and have found that unless you go 60 mph the whole trip, you won't get better than 24 mpg (they advertise 28).

I encountered several issues with my brand new car, including multiple recalls. During a rainy day, the car suddenly stopped running and had to be towed to the dealership. Despite taking a week to diagnose the issue, the dealership ultimately found water in the engine, which was not covered under warranty. While dealing with my insurance company and incurring rental expenses, I was informed that paying for my rental was a courtesy and not guaranteed. I have decided to part ways with both of my FCA cars and am advocating for a product boycott until improvements are made. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

I've noticed a few issues with my car that I wanted to bring to your attention. Firstly, I've noticed that when I set the cruise control to 55mph going downhill, the car tends to speed up and go 10-15mph over the set speed. Additionally, the controls seem to only work when the dash lights blink off and on. Lastly, I've noticed that my car has used 3 quarts of oil in just 5,438 miles. I'm planning on going back to the dealer to address these issues, but I wanted to bring them to your attention first. I appreciate your help in resolving these issues. Thank you!
