Gmc Sierra 1500 problems

The Chevrolet Silverado is a range of trucks manufactured by General Motors under the Chevrolet brand. Introduced for the 1999 model year, the Silverado is the successor to the long-running Chevrolet C/K model line. Taking its name from the top trim level from the Chevrolet C/K series, the Silverado is offered as a series of full-size pickup trucks, chassis cab trucks, and medium-duty trucks. The fourth generation of the model line was introduced for the 2019 model year.
The Chevrolet Silverado shares mechanical commonality with the identically related GMC Sierra; GMC ended the use of the C/K nomenclature a model generation prior to Chevrolet. In Mexico, high-trim level versions of the Silverado use the Chevrolet Cheyenne name (not to be confused with the 2003 concept). Competing against the Ford F-Series, Ram Pickup, Toyota Tundra, and Nissan Titan, the Silverado is among the best-selling vehicles in the United States, having sold over 12 million trucks since its introduction in 1998 as a 1999 model year.
History
The Silverado nameplate made its debut for the 1975 model year, becoming the top trim level on all Chevrolet C/K trucks, slotted above Custom Deluxe, Scottsdale, and Cheyenne. For the 1968 model year (seven years before the Silverado), GMC C/K trucks used variations of the Sierra name (Sierra, Sierra Classic, Sierra Grande, and High Sierra). Even after the C/K series officially ended, GM still uses the CK and the CC in their current model codes, to denote a two-wheel drive (CC), and four-wheel drive (CK).
For the 1988 GMT400 model architecture, Chevrolet retained the C/K model nomenclature, with GMC branding its full-size line as Sierras. While sharing the same body and chassis, the model chronology of the Silverado and Sierra are different, with five generations of the Sierra, while four of the Silverado.
In 2018, at the NTEA Work Truck Show in Indianapolis, Indiana, Chevrolet unveiled the first medium-duty Silverado, expanding the model line to a 4500HD, 5500HD, and 6500HD chassis cab. Largely the successor to the 2003–2009 GMT560 chassis, the medium-duty trucks are exclusive to Chevrolet, with no plans for an equivalent GMC version. Instead, Navistar International (now partnering with GM) would sell the medium-duty trucks as a rebadged counterpart, called the CV. This is in fact a very similar nod to how the Avalanche did not have a GMC Yukon–based equivalent, but instead, Cadillac would take its place as the former's rebadged counterpart, the Escalade EXT.

These trucks are all new from the ground up. Everything is improved. The steering feel is more responsive, the brakes are more reliable, and the interior and dash have been redesigned for a more modern look. The suspension has undergone a dramatic improvement, making it a pleasure to drive. If you were not a fan of GM trucks before, it's worth taking another look. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this vehicle! It's a comfortable and refined truck that can definitely compete with the F150.

Vehicle year: 2014
I replaced my 120K miles F-150 with my 4Dr SLE 5.3L 5.8Ft. (SLE with 5.3 V8 option not available in listing.) The gas mileage is better than advertised, and I was able to get 26.6 MPG with A/C in August in the South. (Best 50 mile average MPG is now 27.3.) I can send a picture of the indicator for those who do not believe. The 5.3 engine has great torque and will turn high RPMs if asked. It may not have as much torque as the larger Hemi of the Dodges I've driven, but it still has plenty to go along with significantly better gas mileage. I get 16-17 around town in mixed driving and 22-23 on the highway at 75MPH. As of 93,000 miles, I still get a 50 mile mpg best of 26.3 with an overall MPG of 17.0. The dealer provided free oil changes and tire rotations for the first 24K miles, and while I have had three recalls, the dealer handled them very well and with utmost priority. I have noticed that I have gotten many more compliments on my truck than for almost any other car I have owned. And that is a lot of vehicles. (I'm old.) Some of them are considered classics now. In 2014, I looked at Chevy, Ford, Ram, Toyota, and Nissan trucks. All the imports had less power, lower MPG, and most of them cost more than my GMC. I previously had a 2005 Ford 4.6L and always hated the 11-13 mpg in town, and best ever highway MPG of about 16 on a 400 mile trip without Air Conditioning (Winter). That vehicle had some issues, but overall I still prefer GM trucks. While I did experience some problems with the A/C, the dealer was able to fix them for free while it was still under warranty. I also had to replace the condenser core, which was a bit pricey, but other major maintenance items have held up well. The brakes have lasted a long time, even with towing a heavy load, and the fuel efficiency has remained consistent. I have noticed some pitting on the hood paint, but it doesn't seem to be affecting the truck's performance. Overall, I am still a fan of GM trucks. (UPDATED March 2023)I hope you're doing well! I wanted to share an update on my 2014 Sierra. It's been a reliable truck for me, with no major issues or recalls to report. I've put 112,000 miles on it so far, and I'm happy to say that my best 50 mile average MPG is now 27.9. Even with several thousand miles of towing a 6,000 Lb trailer, my lifetime overall MPG is a respectable 17.1. I have had to replace the brake pads twice and the rotors once, but that's to be expected with regular use. Unfortunately, I was recently rear-ended for the third time in this truck, so I'll need a new rear bumper, bumper mounts, and tailgate. The other driver's car also sustained some damage, so I hope they're doing okay. Despite these setbacks, I'm still a big fan of GMC trucks!

I love my little work truck! It has a short bed and a 4.3 engine. You know why? Because I paid 15,900 for it, minus a 750 dollar USAA rebate. This is actually my third new GMC/Chevy in 10 years, and I fully expect it to be just as reliable as my previous trucks.

The 2012 GMC Sierra SLT Crew Cab 4x4 6.2L is easily one of the best all-around trucks I have ever owned. It performs exceptionally well in all situations, whether I'm pushing through 2 feet of Michigan snow to get to work or pulling my 8,000 fun mover. If you're looking for a reliable, hard-working, and fast truck, the 6.2L with the 3.73 rear axle (available on the max trailering package) offered in both the Sierra and Silverado is a must-have. With 403hp and 417ft/lbs, this truck's engine rivals most engines put in trucks today. The only downside I have found since owning (101k miles on the clock, 35k in my ownership) is the fuel economy. These particular trucks are rated at 12/18 and get just about that running premium, which can definitely break the bank. Running E85 will save upwards of $.75 a gallon but will drop your highway economy into the low teens. Overall, this is a fantastic truck, and I highly recommend it to anyone in the market for a new vehicle.

I really appreciate your feedback on this truck! It's great to hear that you've had such positive experiences with previous models and that this one is even better. The interior sounds like it's top-notch and the performance is impressive, especially with the great gas mileage you got on your trip to Vegas. Thank you for sharing your thoughts!

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share my experience with my truck. I bought it used with 117,000 miles on it and noticed that it was using a little oil and coolant, which was a bit odd. Every now and then, I would hear a sticky lifter, but I found a solution by adding Lucas to the oil. However, I encountered some trouble when the sludge in the sump clogged the oil pump suction and caused a loss of oil pressure. Luckily, I was able to find a used motor with 100,000 miles on it and swapped it out. Now, my truck runs better with more power and no oil consumption or coolant issues. I really like my truck and plan on driving it for another couple of years. I think the sludge may have been related to the coolant loss, as it was infiltrating the crank case and slowly evaporating out. Thanks for listening!

I've owned this truck for only 3 months and have put just 4300 miles on it. While the fuel economy is great, I find it hard to enjoy driving it due to the many interior rattles. Whenever a vehicle with an aftermarket exhaust or a Harley pulls up next to me, it starts with a very high pitched rattle under the dash. Even the slightest bump in the road sounds like every screw in the cab is loose. As someone who drives professionally for a living, I can't stand to own a rattle bucket for my hour-long commute home. I wish I had just kept my 2012 Tundra. *****UPDATE 01/31/2018********* I sold that truck and drove straight to my local Toyota dealer to buy a 2016 Tundra Limited. I have not regretted the decision since. It's a much higher quality truck that's still as tight as the day it was completed in Texas (not Mexico like a GMC).

I used to be a loyal GM fan until I purchased my 2006 truck. After speaking with other GMC and Chevy truck owners, we all agree that we regret buying these trucks due to the clunking noise and vibration when the transmission shifts, as well as issues with wheel bearing hubs, steering, and u-joints. I am now considering purchasing a Toyota for my next vehicle.

This is the first brand new vehicle I ever purchased. It's a beautiful car with a big screen, dual climate controls, and a nice leather interior. However, I've had some issues with it. The lights are not very good at night, and it's hard to see anything. The Bluetooth worked well at first, but now I'm having trouble understanding anything. The back glass leaked and stained the headliner, but it's currently in the shop being fixed. The worst thing is that it has had a clunking noise since about 5,000 miles. I've taken it to the dealer four times, but they say it's nothing and that's just how these new vehicles shift. I believe that for what I paid for this car, GM needs to fix it. I would think twice, maybe three or four times, before buying one.

It looks like there might be some issues with the eight-speed transmission.
