- Summary: AS OF OCTOBER 20,2014 I HAVE YET TO SEE THE 1999 CHEVORLET S_10 LS OR THE 2005 CHEVORLET BLAZER S-T 4X4 MY HUSBAND HAS TESTED BOTH OF THESE IGNITION SWITCHES AND THEY ARE THE SAME. HE THEN CALLED A GM DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD HIM TO NOT PUT ANYTHING HEAVY ON THE KEY RING. WE ARE GETTING THE SAME SPILL FROM GM AS EVERYONE ELSE.WHY HASN'T THE S-10'S AND BLAZERS BEEN INSPECTED, THEY HAVE THE SAME IGNITION SWITCH FROM THE 1999 S-10 TO THE 2005 BLAZER 4X4 AND ARE VERY EASY TO KNOCK IN TO ACCESSORY POSITION. BECAUSE THERE HAS BEEN NO INFORMATION PUT OUT ABOUT OUR IGNITION SWITCHES, WE ARE HIGHLY CONCERNED ABOUT THE AIRBAGS AS WELL. WHY HAVE THESE VEHICLES BEEN OVERLOOKED NOT INSPECTED AND SILENCED? NOONE HAS SAID THE S10 OR THE BLAZERS IGNITION SWITCHES ARE SAFE. - Summary: I WAS RETURNING FROM LAS VEGAS ON A RUFF PAVED DESERT HWY IN MY 2005 5 SPEED 2 DOOR CHEVY BLAZER WHEN I NOTICE A SLIGHT SMELL OF ELECTRICAL SMOKE. I TURNED ON THE DOME LIGHT AND NOTICE THE TURNING SIGNAL SWITCH ARM BOUNCING A LOT WITH SOME SMOKE COMING OUT THERE AT THE COLUMN ! I SLOWED FROM 65 TO 40 WITH MY FLASHERS ON, PROBLEM SOLVED . GOT BACK ON A SMOOTH FREE WAY AT 65 WITH NO SMOKE. THE SWITCH ARM GOT SLOPPIER OVER TIME BUT STILL WORKED FOR ABOUT SIX MONTHS. THEN ONE DAY I TURN RIGHT WITH MY SIGNAL ON, WINDSHIELD WIPERS CAME ON BY THEMSELVES, & THE SMOKE WAS BACK (MUCH STRONGER ) WHILE DRIVING SLOW! I THEN PULLED INTO A AUTO PARTS PARKING LOT, SHUT IT OFF, & TOOK OUT THE KEYS! TO MY SHOCK THE WIPERS, & SMOKE KEPT GOING! I THEN OPENED THE HOOD, UNPLUGGED THE WIPER MOTOR, & AGAIN PROBLEM SOLVED ! THEN CAME A RAINY DAY SO I HAD TO PLUG BACK IN THE WIPERS, THINGS STILL ALL OK! BUT THEN I MADE A RIGHT TURN WITH THE TURN SIGNAL ON! THE EVEN STRONGER SMOKE WAS BACK PLUS MY ASTHMA ATTACK (USED MY INHALER ) ! I THOUGHT ABOUT STOPPING IN THE STRONG RAIN BUT I TURNED ON THE A/C ON FULL THEN GOT VERY MAD ! I YANKED ON THE PLASTIC SWITCH ARM PULLING IT TO THE LEFT, & IT POPPED OFF IN MY HAND! PROBLEM SOLVED EXCEPT NOW MY WINDSHIELD SPRAY, & WIPER DELAY DON'T WORK! I STILL GET SOME SMOKE ON RUFF ROADS! THE WHOLE TURNING SIGNAL WITCH PART COST $599.95 AT CHEVY PLUS $330.00 LABOR ! TO RICH FOR ME! I TOOK THE SMALL COLUMN DASHBOARD PANEL OFF, PUT A KILL SWITCH ON THE WIPER MOTOR POWER WIRE JUST IN CASE, & A LIGHT WEIGHT WOOD 6" CUT OFF STAINED BROOM HANDLE ON THE 4" METAL SWITCH ARM ( DRILLED A 5\16 HOLE 4" DEEP)! I AVOID BAD ROADS, USING TURNING SIGNALS, & I CLEAN MY WINDSHIELD BY HAND OFTEN ! PROBLEM SOLVED FOR NOW! IF THE AIR BAD GOES OFF FROM THIS PROBLEM WHILE DRIVING I WILL PROBABLY HAVE A HEART ATTACK, & DIE! *TR

I really enjoy driving the Blazer! My first one was a 1994 4-door model, and then I upgraded to a 1998 2-door model. The performance of the '98 with the same motor was much better - it would have blown this one away. The pickup when getting on a highway is poor compared to the '98. However, I really like the looks of the new Blazer and I'm interested in possibly purchasing one if you continue making 2-door models. I was told that the ZR2 I bought was the last of the 2-door models, but seeing that you're coming out with a 2005 model, I'm still interested. The only thing is that the performance has to be increased - plain and simple. 4-wheeling is great, but this motor is dragging. That's my only complaint.

Nice truck! I love it.

It's great to see that this small SUV delivers such solid performance! The suspension is firm, just like a 4x4 should be, and the brakes are also very reliable. The ride height is high enough to give you the feeling of driving a full-size Chevy! The conservative interior styling is also very cool.

This has been the best car for the dollar that I have bought so far. Although the build quality is a little off and there are lots of things on the inside that rattle, I have to say that it's an off-roading beast. The only issue I had was when something called a balancer came off of the engine, which caused me to lose power steering and my brakes, and I ended up in a ditch. But thankfully, the airbag worked great. I think the engine thing was probably my fault because the weekend before, I pretty much threw it off a cliff. A bigger engine would be nice, but the power to weight ratio is great.

The front ball joint repairs and wheel bearing replacements were completed with utmost care and expertise. Although the check engine light intermittently displays a shift code, it is a minor issue that can be easily resolved. While the truck does have some blind spots and a slightly noisy ride, these are minor concerns that can be easily addressed. Additionally, the front end of the truck can be further strengthened to enhance its overall performance.

I'm glad to hear that you're happy with your purchase so far, despite the negative reviews from your family. It sounds like the 2-door version is causing some inconvenience with teenagers and kids getting in and out of the back for each ride. Additionally, it would have been great if the vehicle could seat 5 instead of 4.

Hello! I've been the proud owner of my ZR2 Blazer for 21 months now. It's a really comfortable vehicle both in the city and in the country. However, I have noticed that it doesn't perform as well on the highway, especially when there's a gusty cross wind. I think the tires might be the issue. Although I'm getting the published fuel mileage, it's not quite as good as my '89 S-10, which also had a 4.3. I would have expected the Vortec 4.3 to be more fuel efficient than the throttle body 4.3. What do you think?

It's great to drive! Although there may be some noise from the plastic over time, I'm still really happy with my truck. Unfortunately, the resale value isn't great.

I have experienced constant major repairs with this vehicle, including 4-wheel drive, hubs, universal joint, and a new rear end, among other issues. Despite being the only owner and a gentle driver, this has been the worst car I have ever owned. As a result, I have decided to never purchase a Chevy again, and I have even advised my children to do the same.
