FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2013-11-01
- VIN: 1GNDT13W72K
- Components: FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
- Summary: THE FUEL GAUGE SENSOR SYSTEM BECOMES FAULTY AFTER 74,000 MILES. MINE STARTED AT APPROX. 90,000 MILES. I HAVE LEARNED ONLINE THIS HAS HAPPENED TO MANY 2002 BLAZER OWNERS & GM WILL NOT ADDRESS THE ISSUE. BECAUSE OF THIS THE CARS WILL NOT PASS EMISSIONS DUE TO A DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE & COSTS OVER $1,000 TO REPAIR ON A 12 YEAR OLD VEHICLE EVEN THOUGHT IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE ACTUAL EMISSION OUTPUT. IT IS ONE THING TO HAVE PARTS BREAK DOWN WITH AGE AND QUITE ANOTHER TO HAVE THE SAME PART BECOME FAULTY ON A LARGE SCALE. I CANNOT RENEW MY PLATES DUE TO THE EMISSION FAILURE AND CANNOT AFFORD TO FIX A GAGE FOR A $1,000. GM NEEDS TO RECALL THE VEHICLES AND ADMIT THEIR FAULT USING A CHEAP FAULTY PART TO SAVE $$. I KNOW THIS MAY NOT BE A "SAFETY" CONCERN PER SAY BUT GM ADVISED ME TO MAKE A COMPLAINT WITH NHTSA. MY VEHICLE IS MY LIVELY HOOD & I DON'T KNOW WHAT ELSE TO DO. *TR

CHILD SEAT PROBLEM

- Components: CHILD SEAT
- Summary: THE DOREL CHILD INFANT SAFETY SEAT THAT WAS MADE ON 10/10/2011. THE PRODUCT NUMBER IS 22-391 MLO. THE RESTRAINTS ON THE SEAT ARE NOT SAFE FOR A CHILD TO BE PLACED IN THE SEAT DUE TO THE RESTRAINTS COMING OFF OR UNDONE. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS SIMPLY PULL ON THE RESTRAINTS AND THEY WILL COME UNDONE. AND IT IS REALLY UNSAFE IF YOU HAVE A INFANT IN THE SEAT THAT LIKES TO HOLD THE RESTRAINTS OR EVEN PLAY WITH THEM WHILE YOU ARE TRYING TO DRIVE AND CANT ALWAYS SEE WHAT THEY ARE DOING. I HAVE HAD THIS HAPPEN MULTIPLE TIMES WHILE EVEN JUST TRYING TO PLACE MY SON INTO THE SEAT. THE CONSEQUENCES OF THIS HAPPENING ARE THAT I HAVE TO THEN EITHER TAKE HIM OUT OF THE SEAT AND FIX THE RESTRAINTS OR I HAVE TO TRY AND FIX IT WHILE HE IS IN HIS SEAT. THE ONLY THING I WAS ABLE TO DO IS FIX THE PROBLEM MYSELF IS TO PLACE VELCRO ON THE RESTRAINTS ON THE BACK OF THE SEAT TO MAKE SURE THAT THEY DO NOT MOVE AT ALL WHEN I PLACE MY SON IN THE SEAT. I HAVE TRIED TO CONTACT THE COMPANY TO SEE WHAT CAN BE DONE, BUT EVERY TIME, I CALL THERE IS A HOLD TIME OR THEY ARE CLOSED. *TR

I'm glad to hear that you haven't had any major issues with your Blazer! It sounds like you've taken good care of it, having only needed to replace the brakes and tires this winter. I understand that many vehicles struggle with pickup on cold winter days, so that's not surprising. However, it's great to hear that your Blazer is doing well on highway travel and getting decent gas mileage. Thanks for sharing your experience!

A good looking mid sized SUV with reasonable offroad performance and comfortable on long trips. The MPG is around 20. Although one of the interior plastic parts came off, the overall interior is fine. It is certainly better than expected, especially considering the 'cheesy' label applied to it. Apart from the previously mentioned interior part, it has worked flawlessly.
-
It sounds like I may have lucked out with my Blazer! I've owned it for just over two years now and, aside from the horn honking for no reason in the winter when I turn the wheel, I haven't had to take it in for any major repairs. Although the rear window used to rattle over small bumps, I was able to fix it myself. Despite some negative reviews, I think this is a really great vehicle. I make sure to keep up with regular maintenance and push it to its limits. I've even added a hitch receiver, skid plates, and a grill guard to make it even better. Overall, I'm really happy with my Blazer. In fact, we always choose to take it on our drives, even though it doesn't have the best gas mileage.
-
GM has really listened to owners and has come up with the perfect answer to the Explorer. The TrailBlazer boasts a wider stance, firmer ride, and plenty of room over the Ex. It definitely deserves a second and third look in your search for a great SUV.
-
Considering you got an excellent deal by getting the GMS pricing, this was a great purchase for you. If this vehicle hadn't been such a great value in the end, you would've probably opted for the GMC Envoy. The Chevy interior is pretty predictable and the truck toughness is what you would expect from a Chevy. I hope it lasts and lasts.

I love reading everyone's reviews, they are so interesting! I feel lucky to have had such a great experience with my Blazer. I bought it with 95,000 miles on it and now it has almost 200,000. I have had to replace the fuel pump twice, but that was my fault. I hate pumping gas and I tend to push every car I have owned to its limits on an empty tank. Every car I have owned has had to have the fuel pump replaced, but other than that, just basic wear and tear. The transmission started slipping at 190,000, but I put some stop slip in and it's still going strong at almost 200,000 miles. I'm sure the end of this car's life will come sooner or later, but I have been so satisfied with it. I do agree that the gas mileage could be better, but it is an SUV so that's to be expected.
Khalil Reynolds 2024-10-03
The SUV has a decent exterior, but unfortunately, the interior is subpar and the gas mileage is diabolical. As an owner and driver of a Mitsubishi Montero, I find this unacceptable.
Nils Ebert 2024-09-21
I hope you're doing well! I recently got my 02 Blazer back from the shop after its semi-annual $700-800 breakdown. Unfortunately, the gas mileage isn't great and the ride can be loud and uncomfortable. There are also some odd noises that I'm not too fond of. I'm considering getting a new car soon, but I'm not sure what to do yet. Maybe fixing it will be more expensive than getting a new car, but I'm not sure. What do you think? Thanks for your help!
Tyler Nikolaus 2024-07-08
I have decided to part ways with my Blazer due to its consistent unreliability and premature wear and tear of its components. Despite repeated attempts to address the electrical issues, they have remained unresolved. As a result, I have decided to explore other options outside of GM.
Jaeden Von 2024-06-18
Although I have had some issues with my vehicle, I have been persistent in getting them resolved. Despite multiple visits to the dealer for a left rear door latch rattle, the issue persisted. However, after having the latches replaced, the door still rattles and is pulled out of position. Additionally, the window trim fell off on the first day and the driver's seat squeaks. While there are more rattles and squeaks than my previous car, I am confident that these issues can be resolved. I have reached out to Chevy Email Customer Service and have been informed that district managers will work with the dealers to resolve the issue. I am hopeful that these problems will be resolved soon and I can continue to enjoy my car.
