Common 2004 Chevrolet Blazer problems
The 2004 Chevrolet Blazer has been reported to have several common problems based on complaints from owners. Here is a detailed list of these issues:
- Fuel Pump Failure: This issue has been reported by several owners of 2004 Chevrolet Blazers. Without an uninterrupted supply of fuel from the fuel tank, the engine would either stall or crank over without starting.
- Defective Distributor: Internal defects within the 2001 Chevy Blazer distributor could affect the way the engine operates. Some drivers reported that their vehicle ran rough or stalled, which could damage the engine. They were forced to either overhaul the distributor or replace the faulty ignition part as soon as possible. Aside from the 2001 Chevy Blazer, the faulty distributor could be found in some units produced during 1990-2005.
- Faulty Fuel Gauge: The most commonly reported issue is a faulty fuel gauge, which tends to show up in the 2000 Blazer. This can lead to erratic fuel readings and potential engine stalling due to a lack of fuel.
- Transmission Issues: Some 2004 Chevrolet Blazer units have developed issues with their transmission. The car starts and runs fine, but it won't go forward or backward when put in gear. This issue can be intermittent and may require a complete transmission replacement.
- Electronic Stability Sensor (ESC) Problems: Some 2004 Chevrolet Blazer owners have reported issues with the ESC system. The ESC service warning light comes on, interfering with the power steering and draining the battery when the vehicle is parked. This issue can be dangerous, as it can affect the vehicle's stability and handling.
- Air Flow Sensor Issues: The 2000 Chevy Blazer sputters first thing in the mornings due to sucking in too much air. The air intake and/or the mass airflow sensor have been replaced, but the car still sputters. This issue can lead to poor engine performance and increased emissions.
- Security Relay Problems: Some 2000 Chevrolet Blazer Lt owners have trouble finding the fuse/relay for the security system. This can lead to the vehicle being locked out and not starting, causing inconvenience and potential safety issues.
These issues can lead to costly repairs and decreased vehicle reliability. It is essential to be aware of these common problems when considering purchasing a 2004 Chevrolet Blazer.

- Summary: I OWN A 2004 CHEVROLET BLAZER. THE LEFT FRONT DOOR DROPPED ABOUT A QUARTER OF AN INCH AND THE LOCK WAS DRAGGING ON THE STRIKER PLATE ON THE DOOR JAM. AND GETTING MORE DIFFICULT TO OPEN AND CLOSE. ABOUT TWO MONTHS AGO IT WAS IN TO THE DEALER FOR OIL CHANGE AND LUBE. I REQUESTED AT THAT TIME THAT THE LEFT DOOR BY LUBRICATED BECAUSE IT HAD STARTED TO CREAK WHEN OPENED AND CLOSED. THEY SAID THEY LUBED IT BUT THE NOISE WAS STILL THERE. SUBSEQUENTLY I TALKED TO SEVERAL MECHANICS AND TOLD THEM THE PROBLEM AND WAS TOLD THAT THIS PROBLEM HAS EXISTED FOR A LONG TIME ON GM PRODUCTS AS MANY AS TWENTY FIVE OR THIRTY YEARS. I TOOK IT INTO THE DEALER ON 1-21-2009, WEDNESDAY AND THE WRITE UP PERSON ASKED A SUPERVISOR TO LOOK AT IT. THEY TOLD ME THAT A BUSHING, PIN OR HINGE WAS FAILING. AND THAT IT WOULD COST $150.00 TO REPAIR IT. HE ALSO TOLD ME THAT THE SERVICE POLICY I HAVE ON THIS VEHICLE EXCLUDES HINGES FROM BEING COVERED. AT THAT TIME HE ASKED ME IF I STILL WANTED IT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 24500 MILES ON IT. AND IF I DIDN'T REPAIR IT EVENTUALLY THE DOOR WOULD BE EITHER UNABLE TO OPEN OR CLOSE. THERE WOULD BE A SAFETY ISSUE TRYING TO DRIVE IT WITHOUT HAVING IT REPAIRED AND BEING EITHER UNABLE TO OPEN OR CLOSE THE DOOR. SUBSEQUENTLY I TOLD THEM TO REPAIR THE HINGES, PIN OR BUSHINGS SO THAT THE PROBLEM WOULD BE CORRECTED AND THE VEHICLE MADE SAFE TO DRIVE. I HAVE THE PARTS THAT THEY REPLACED. THE COST OF THIS REPAIR WAS $135.59. *TR
SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC PROBLEM

- VIN: 1GNDT13X94K
- Components: SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC
- Summary: ANTI-LOCK BRAKE PROBLEM I THINK- WHEN VEHICLE IS DRIVEN DURING A LIGHT DUSTING OF SNOW AND WHEN APPLYING BRAKES- VEHICLE WILL PULL ABOUT 8-15 FEET TO THE RIGHT AND DOESN'T STOP UNTIL IT'S DONE PULLING YOU THIS DISTANCE. NOW THIS SEEMS TO HAPPEN WHEN IT IS WET OUT AND DOESN'T HAPPEN EVERYTIME YOU BRAKE. I RECENTLY WAS BRAKING AT A RED LIGHT GOING ABOUT 15 MILES AN HOURS AND BEGAN BRAKING ABOUT 4 CAR LENGTHS BEFORE THE LIGHT AND MY BLAZER DID NOT STOP UNTIL IT TURNED THE CORNER ABOUT 15 FEET TO THE RIGHT. I WAS NOT TRYING TO TURN THE CORNER THE VEHICLE CROSSED OVER THE CORNER SIDEWALK AND LANDED AROUND THE CORNER. THIS IS VERY SCARY WHILE IT IS PULLING YOU HAVE NO CONTROL OVER THE STEERING WHEEL. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE CHEVY DEALER AND AM TOLD THAT THEIR EQUIPMENT CAN'T DETECT A PROBLEM. I ALSO KNOW OTHER PEOPLE THIS HAS HAPPENED TO AND AFTER THEY DISCONNECT THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM THE PROBLEM SUBSIDES. I NEED TO KNOW HOW TO CORRECT THIS ISSUE I DO NOT WANT TO BE IN AN ACCIDENT OR CAUSE ONE. THE CHEVY DEALER HAS NO EXPLANATION ON WHAT TO DO HE SAID HE WOULD THINK IT IS THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM BUT SINCE THE EQUIPMENT DOESN'T INDICATE PROBLEM HE CAN'T SEE ONE. I INQUIRED IF THIS MAY BE A PROBLEM WITH THE TRACTION/ANTI SKID SYSTEM HE DIDN'T HAVE A CLUE . CHARGED ME FOR LOOKING AT IT AND TOLD ME TO BE CAREFUL AND IF I KEPT HAVING THIS PROBLEM TO STOP BACK AGAIN (EVEN THOUGH THEY COULDN'T DETECT PROBLEM) I EXPLAINED TO HIM THAT I HAVE OWNED THIS VEHICLE FOR A FEW YEARS AND OVER THAT TIME PERIOD IT HAS HAPPENED ABOUT 15 TIMES. EVERYTIME IT HAPPENS I THINK ABOUT TRADING IT IN BUT CAN'T AFFORD TO AND I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO . *TR

Whether it's hot and humid or snowing inches at a time, the ZR-2 Blazer is designed to be both fun and stylish. As someone who has owned a few jeeps, I found that while their off-road performance was outstanding, their on-road performance and lack of comfort and features left much to be desired. The ZR-2, on the other hand, offers the best of both worlds. It provides confidence on the trails, while the interior and suspension take care of you on the way there. The back seats can be set down, allowing for huge cargo space, which is perfect for me as an owner of an English Mastiff. If you're looking for a small, fun-to-drive SUV that will last a long time, then check out the ZR-2. I think you'll love it!

I'm so glad to hear that you love your Blazer! It sounds like it has a lot of great features, like a comfortable ride and a powerful engine. It also seems like it's a versatile vehicle that's perfect for two people. It's great that it has a lot of hidden features that you discover over time. It's definitely a unique vehicle that's in a class of its own, and it's unfair to compare it to mini SUVs. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on it!

Best decision my wife and I have ever made in our auto purchases. Our kids love the space, comfort and look as well as my wife and I. I'm so glad we chose Chevrolet, they have never left us disappointed. I look forward to being a long-time customer!

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I just wanted to say that I absolutely love my vehicle and I take really good care of it. The 4.3L MFI V6 engine is really powerful and the overdrive feature helps me save some money on gas. It's perfect for long drives on the highway and the exhaust note is just amazing. Plus, there are so many aftermarket parts available for this vehicle! I personally installed a Flowmaster 40 Series Delta Flow exhaust system and it sounds even better now. What do you think?

So far, it's great to hear that you haven't encountered any problems with your SUV! It's a nice vehicle with excellent ride, performance, and fuel economy. If you keep up with the regular service, your Blazer will last forever. For all the Blazer owners out there, it's important to remember to respect your vehicle. Chevrolet has been producing these great vehicles for about 50 years, so treat it like you would treat your child. I personally wash mine four days a week and bring it to the park twice a week. When it needs some love, I give it the attention it deserves. It treats me well, so I treat it well. My Blazer is my pride and joy.

Additionally, the water thermostat was stuck open and needed to be replaced.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I just wanted to share that when I bought this SUV, I was really excited about the rebates being offered and the fact that it was an SUV. Looking back, I wish I had taken more time to consider my options before making a decision. While it's a great vehicle, I don't see myself using it long term.
Rodolfo Halvorson 2024-05-19
I recently purchased a car, but unfortunately, I encountered some issues. As I was leaving the lot, I discovered that the power windows, seats, and doors were not functioning. Despite the cost of $32,000, I had to replace the brakes after only 1000 miles due to rust. Additionally, the rear seat, which I was told could seat three people, was actually quite cramped and could only fit two small adults. Although the car has some blind spots, I was pleasantly surprised by how well it handled on snow and ice in 4wd mode. It's worth noting that switching to 4wd mode is not a quick process.

I had a 96 Blazer. The truck ran fine until the warranty ran out. If you're looking for a long-term investment, this may not be the best option for you. It's better to trade it in after 5 years than to face unexpected repair bills.

The 1870 shift code transmission slips from first to second consistently, and on the highway, it frequently slips in and out of overdrive. Additionally, the ball joints wear out quickly, and there is a noticeable smell of antifreeze coming through the vents, despite no visible leaks after pressure testing. I have contacted GM regarding this issue, and while they acknowledge the problem, they have declined to fix it, citing the need to fix every affected vehicle. However, I am confident that a solution can be found to address these issues and ensure the longevity of the vehicle.
