Common 1993 Chevrolet Blazer problems
The Chevrolet Blazer, produced from 1969 to 2005, has been known to have several common problems. This article will focus on the 1993 model year, based on complaints from owners.
- Defective Distributor: The 1993 Chevrolet Blazer can also suffer from internal defects within the distributor, which can affect the engine's operation. Drivers have reported rough running or stalling, which could potentially damage the engine. In some cases, the distributor may need to be overhauled or replaced entirely.
- Fuel Pump Failure: Some 1993 Chevrolet Blazer owners have experienced fuel pump failure, which can result in the engine stalling or cranking over without starting. This issue is more prevalent in models from 1990 to 2005, and experts recommend replacing the fuel filter every 30,000 miles to help maintain the pump's performance.
- Transmission Issues: Transmission problems are also common in the 1993 Chevrolet Blazer. Some owners have reported issues with the vehicle not going forward or backward when put in gear, which can be caused by various factors, including worn-out or damaged transmission components.
- Electrical System Issues: The 1993 Chevrolet Blazer has also been known to have electrical system issues. These can range from minor problems, such as malfunctioning interior lights, to more serious issues, such as a malfunctioning electrical system that can cause the "Shift to Park" error message to appear.
- Air Flow Sensor Issues: Some 1993 Chevrolet Blazer owners have reported issues with the air flow sensor, which can cause the vehicle to sputter when the engine is cold. This issue can be particularly noticeable in the mornings or after the vehicle has been sitting for an extended period.
- Stability Control/ESC Issues: The 1993 Chevrolet Blazer may also experience issues with the stability control or ESC system. This can result in the ESC service light coming on, which can interfere with the power steering and potentially drain the battery.
These are just a few of the common problems reported by owners of the 1993 Chevrolet Blazer. It is important for owners to be aware of these issues and to address them promptly to ensure the safe and reliable operation of their vehicle. Regular maintenance and inspections can help identify and prevent these problems before they become more serious issues.

FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2004-10-15

- Summary: I HAVE A 93 S10 BLAZER AND THE TRUCK SHUT DOWN WHILE MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING. THE ECMB FUSE WAS BLOWN AND WOULD BLOW OUT WHEN THE IGNITION SWITCH WOULD BE TURNED ON. I FINALLY TRACKED THE PROBLEM DOWN TO THE FUEL PUMP. WHEN I REMOVED THE GAS TANK AND PULLED OUT THE FUEL PUMP, THE WIRE INSIDE THE TANK WERE WELDED TOGETHER AND THE PLUG ON THE END OF THE FUEL PUMP WAS MELTED (FUSED) TOGETHER. THIS REALLY CONCERNS ME THAT THESE INTERNAL COMPONENTS CAN GET HOT ENOUGH TO MELT THEY COULD EASILY CAUSE THE TANK TO EXPLODE. ALSO THE WIRING IS ATTACHED TO THE SENDING UNIT AND TO REPLACE BOTH OF THESE COMPONENTS IT WILL COST OVER $600 JUST FOR PARTS. THIS IS A TERRIBLE DESIGN AND A NASTY HAZARD, SOMEBODY MAY BE KILLED. *JB

It's a good truck. It drives nicely and is reliable.
Orrin Gutmann 2024-07-12
This Blazer has been great! I think I'll keep it until the end of time. I put a 6-inch lift on it, along with 22 custom wheels, custom headlights and tail lights. Everywhere I go, people just love it. It rides well and has lots of room inside, but gas-wise, not so good. But hey, I don't care about that!
Estevan Zboncak 2024-05-29
I just bought a 93' Blazer 2 Door Z71. It's red, and I absolutely love it! The vehicle has a new engine and transmission, and I added a few engine and exhaust modifications to make it even better. It now produces about 300 hp and 415 ft lbs of torque. It's a blast to drive and can easily outperform many other vehicles. Plus, it handles off-road like a champ! I highly recommend this as a first car for your teen!
Louisa Homenick 2024-04-29
Your Blazer sounds like a great ride! It's reliable, fun to drive, and has a powerful stance. The interior dashboard is awesome, with everything in easy reach of the driver and modern push button controls for the a/c and radio. While the gas mileage may not be up to today's standards, it's still good for a 1992 vehicle at 15 mpg.
Reuben Toy 2024-04-12
I previously owned a 1991 Caprice Classic, but it struggled in the snow. However, I found this beauty! It's reliable, comfortable, smooth, and versatile. I've made some upgrades, including a custom exhaust, a new paint job, and Denali wheels/tires. It looks sharp, rides smooth, and sits high. If I had to do it again, I would try to find a 96 or newer with the Vortec engine, or a 95 or newer diesel. Overall, I'm really happy with my 5.7 Cheyenne, even though it only has 210 HP stock.
