The Chrysler Town & Country is a minivan that was manufactured and marketed by Chrysler from 1990 to the 2016 model years. The third Chrysler minivan introduced in North America, the Town & Country adopted its nameplate from the flagship Chrysler station wagon line, adopting its exterior woodgrain trim as a design feature for several generations.

Marketed as the flagship of the Chrysler minivan line, five generations of the Town & Country were slotted above the extended-wheelbase Dodge Grand Caravan and Plymouth Grand Voyager. For 2017, Chrysler retired the nameplate, with sixth-generation Chrysler-division minivans becoming the Chrysler Pacifica. After the 2016 model year, Chrysler marked the sale of its 12 millionth minivan (under all three nameplates). Produced almost continuously for 75 years (with the exception of World War II and 1989), the Town & Country nameplate is the longest-produced Chrysler; its longevity is second only to the Chevrolet Suburban in worldwide automotive history.

Chrysler assembled the first three generations of the model line in its Saint Louis Assembly facility (Fenton, Missouri). The fourth and fifth-generation Town & Country were produced by Chrysler Canada by Windsor Assembly (Windsor, Ontario).

Negative 2004 Chrysler Town and country car reviews

  1. Freddy Hansen 2025-02-18

I found the T&C to be a comfortable ride, but unfortunately, I experienced some issues with it. Both automatic doors broke, and the front struts needed to be replaced twice. Additionally, the brake rotors required replacement before 15,000 miles, and one of the factory tires had a broken band at 10k miles. I also found the aluminum wheels to be difficult to clean. Although the alternator had to be replaced, I still appreciate the T&C. I purchased it as my first new car, hoping to avoid problems for years, but unfortunately, that was not the case. Interestingly, my 13-year-old Volvo has not had any problems, but I understand that every car is different.

  2. Gabriel Witting 2025-01-23

The vehicle experienced several issues, including oil loss, frequent oil light activation, and brake problems. Despite attempts to address these issues with Chrysler and the dealer, they were not resolved. Additionally, the front passenger seat was not adjustable, causing discomfort for some passengers. The car also experienced stalling and unexpected acceleration while using cruise control. These issues indicate a lack of reliability in this new vehicle.

  3. Ismael Haley 2024-09-24

Overall, it's a pretty cool vehicle.

  4. Santa Yost 2024-09-09

I find that most everything about this vehicle is above average with one exception. Unfortunately, the front door panels are poorly designed. The protrusion into the left leg of the driver is unacceptable, and the right side is just as bad. My family has driven Lincolns and Chev pickups for years, and after much thought and research, we decided on the Chrysler minivan. However, it was a big mistake, and we will be going back to Lincoln next time.

I have owned a 1989 Dodge LE Mini-van, 1999 Chrysler LX Mini-van, and last year I purchased a 2004 Chrysler Limited T & C. Of the three, the 2004 model is superior, except for one very serious Chrysler Supply-Chain problem. Unfortunately, the mini-van was delivered with a tire manufacturer's defect. The replacement tire had defects worse than the original defective tire. The tire in question was the Bridgestone EL42, which has a very low wear rating and a 'B' traction rating. It is disappointing that Chrysler chooses to mount these poor tires on the $37,000+ Limited, while Ford Freestar, which is listed at $16,000 less than the Chrysler Limited, arrives with Michelin Symmetrys that have superior tire ratings.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I just wanted to share my experience with my UK spec Chrysler Grand Voyager (known as Town and Country in the US). I opted for the Limited trim with the Mercedes sourced common rail diesel, as petrol is taxed at an insane level in this country. I'm happy to report that this 2.5 CRD does 0-60 in 12 seconds and on a recent trip down to the French Alps (approx 950 miles), it averaged 38 mpg while carrying 6 passengers and cruising at 90mph. I'm so impressed with its performance that I'd happily do without the 3.8 V6. This is actually my third 'town and country' and I can confidently say that it's a great all-round car. I haven't had any issues with it so far. Thanks for reading!

  3. Wilfred Wolff 2025-01-15

I've owned three T&C AWD vans over the years - a '94, an '01, and now an '04 - and I must say, I'm quite satisfied with them. While each has required front stabilizer bar bushing replacements at least once, my current one has been a great vehicle overall, with only a power window motor issue and some prematurely worn driver's seat upholstery. It's been a reliable and practical choice for me, getting 25 mpg at 60 mph and 23.5 at 65-70 mph on trips, and about 18 in suburban driving. It's also very accommodating - my handicapped father can get in and out easily, it's comfortable for six adults, and it can tow a trailer or cart furniture with the seats removed. Plus, with all-wheel drive, it handles great in the snow. While it may not be the most exciting vehicle to own, it's certainly a dependable and useful one.

  4. Trystan Huels 2025-01-13

The front driver's seat may not be suitable for everyone, as it may cause discomfort or leg pain over time. In our experience, the 93 Voyager was a better fit for me. Overall, we do like the vehicle despite this issue.

This is great to hear! It's always wonderful to have a loyal customer like you. Thank you for choosing Town and Country!
