2015 Chrysler Town and country problems
The Chrysler Town & Country is a minivan that was manufactured and marketed by Chrysler from 1990 to the 2016 model years. The third Chrysler minivan introduced in North America, the Town & Country adopted its nameplate from the flagship Chrysler station wagon line, adopting its exterior woodgrain trim as a design feature for several generations.
Marketed as the flagship of the Chrysler minivan line, five generations of the Town & Country were slotted above the extended-wheelbase Dodge Grand Caravan and Plymouth Grand Voyager. For 2017, Chrysler retired the nameplate, with sixth-generation Chrysler-division minivans becoming the Chrysler Pacifica. After the 2016 model year, Chrysler marked the sale of its 12 millionth minivan (under all three nameplates). Produced almost continuously for 75 years (with the exception of World War II and 1989), the Town & Country nameplate is the longest-produced Chrysler; its longevity is second only to the Chevrolet Suburban in worldwide automotive history.
Chrysler assembled the first three generations of the model line in its Saint Louis Assembly facility (Fenton, Missouri). The fourth and fifth-generation Town & Country were produced by Chrysler Canada by Windsor Assembly (Windsor, Ontario).

Common 2015 Chrysler Town and country problems
The Chrysler Town and Country, a popular minivan produced since 1989, has had its fair share of issues, particularly in certain model years. Here are the most common problems with the 2015 Chrysler Town and Country based on complaints from owners:
- Engine Problems: Engine issues are among the most expensive items to fix in a vehicle. Engine problems were the secondary issue that popped up with the Chrysler Town and Country, especially in the 2010, 2008, and 2012 models. These problems include an engine that shuts down while driving, an engine that doesn't turn over, and an engine light that keeps turning on. These issues can be expensive inconveniences and can lead to dangerous situations while driving.
- Blind Spot Detection Faults: Blind spot detection faults appeared most often in the 2012 version of the car. This repair is expensive, but it's one of the most dangerous issues that can pop up on the road. Lack of blind spot detection can lead to deadly accidents.
- Transmission Problems: The 2015 Chrysler Town and Country has been recalled due to transmission pump issues that may not conform to specifications. This can cause a sudden loss of power, leading to dangerous driving conditions.
- Seatback Bolts: Some 2016 Chrysler Town and Country and Dodge Grand Caravans are being recalled to ensure the third-row seats don't fall off during a crash. This issue is due to nuts on the third-row seatback that weren't torqued properly during assembly.
- Windshields: The 2015-2016 Chrysler Town and Country and 2014-2016 Chrysler 200 have been found to have windshields falling out due to the use of expired primer during installation. This can lead to dangerous driving conditions and the need for expensive repairs.
- UConnect Frozen with Blank Screen: Uconnect infotainment systems will often boot into a blank screen, freeze while the vehicle is in reverse, become unresponsive to the touch, or reboot at random times. This can be a major inconvenience and can lead to safety concerns while driving.
- Active Head Restraints (AHR) Randomly Deploys: The active head restraints in some Chrysler vehicles are known to deploy randomly at any time, potentially causing injuries.
- Valve Stem Corrosion: Fiat-Chrysler made a mistake by using aluminum valve stems in some of their early tire pressure monitoring systems, like the one found in the 2010 Town and Country. The aluminum stem and metal cap are highly susceptible to corrosion, leading to potential tire pressure monitoring system failure.
- TIPM Electrical Problems: The Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM) in FCA vehicles, including the Chrysler Town and Country, is known for its electrical problems. This can lead to a variety of issues, including stalling, failure to start, and intermittent electrical failures.

SEATS PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-04-15
- VIN: 2C4RC1CG6FR
- Components: SEATS
- Summary: 2015 Chrysler Town and Country. Black "Leather". Right Front Passenger Headrest. I was loading something into the Right Sliding door when my elbow bumped the headrest. It was slight enough that I thought nothing of it, but when my passenger got into the R/F seat, the headrest was thrust forward. We attempted to "reset" it but it would not latch in the back position. Upon assessment, we found the plastic "latches" broken. This is a design or quality problem with safety implications and Chrysler needs to replace this headrest in affected vehicles. There are several reports in the 2014-2015 model years with this issue. It should be a safety RECALL. Some complaints are that the parts are on backorder. This cannot be allowed. Chrysler should be held accountable.

POWER TRAIN PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-07-03
- VIN: 2C4RC1BG2FR
- Components: POWER TRAIN
- Summary: Drove 20 miles to doctors appointment in vehicle. No signs of problem. Was at doctors office for about 2 hours. When I left doctors office vehicle was acting erratic. Making noise and revving even when not applying gas. Jolting forward unexpectedly. Hesitating when accelerating. There were no indicators and no check engine light coming on at that time. I got off highway and took back roads until I found a place to safely stop vehicle. Turned vehicle off and waited a bit. Started vehicle again and drove it around a cul de sac several times to try to see if it might be better. While driving in cul de sac check engine light finally came on. It was steady, not flashing. This was several miles after car first started exhibiting erratic behavior. I could not tell if car would be controllable. After parking car for quite a while and letting it cool I was able to drive it the rest of the way home, going slow and coasting when possible to avoid having to accelerate and brake more than absolutely necessary. Ran diagnostic which suggested transmission problem. Looked up recalls and although 2015 town and country has recalls for transmission pump my vin number was not covered under recall. Once transmission was taken apart and investigated by mechanic I learned my transmission pump was indeed bad and so was my torque converter. I had to pay for transmission rebuild and pump and converter out of my pocket. While I was driving the car the day this happened I had no warning of the problem. Drive to the appointment was normal- no noise or erratic behavior. Drive home was scary. Hard to judge what car would do. Had to leave lots of distance in case car jolted forward and go slow in case car would not accelerare when needed. Had to pull over and let car cool multiple times to get all the way home. If I was not able to exit the highway when I did I fear I may have had an accident trying to drive safely at highway speeds.
SEATS PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-07-07
- VIN: 2C4RC1CG9FR
- Components: SEATS
- Summary: I parked my car in the driveway, turned off the engine and exited the vehicle. Before I closed the driver's side door, the front right headrest went off like the vehicle was in an accident. The corresponding air bag did not deploy. I inspected the headrest noticing pieces of plastic had broken off and others were bent. I attempted to reset the headset following the recommended procedure. Because of the broken/bent pieces of plastic, the headrest cannot be reset.
POWER TRAIN PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-07-01
- VIN: 2C4RC1BG7FR
- Components: POWER TRAIN
- Summary: my vehicle was going up hill when it started smoking. I pulled over and found a leak under the van which was transmission fluid. I had to pay $2200.00 to have the vehicle towed home to my local mechanic and now it is costing an additional 1800.00 to fix the torque converter and transmission fluid pump. It dropped in speed from 50 to 30 to nothing within seconds of going up the hill.

The Chrysler Town and Country is a great van. It's even better than the Honda. I used to have a Honda and it was okay, but not as great as the Chrysler. The Chrysler has more features than the Honda, and I would definitely buy another Chrysler.

This car is a reliable choice. As someone who frequently tows a fifth-wheel, I appreciate the permanent cap on the bed and the ability to downshift and catch up on grades. While the cruise control could be improved, it is not a deal breaker. The mileage is not quite what was advertised, but it is still better than other pickups. Overall, this is a decent car. It is unfortunate that they no longer offer this model, as I would consider purchasing it after my lease is up. Although the trim style is unknown, it has many features such as leather and a tow package, making it a great choice. The lack of an easy way to tie the tailgate when carrying or hauling items longer than 8' is frustrating, but a simple solution such as an eye-hook or slot inside the rear gate could be added. I am even considering drilling and threading an eye-hook myself.

I'm so glad to hear that you love how it handles and what it can carry! It sounds like you had a great experience loading a digital piano in AZ using the two sliding doors and keeping the weight loaded on center. I'm happy to hear that you had no issues getting your dad's piano to NC!

This is a great mini van.

Our Chrysler Town and Country, purchased in June 2015, has unfortunately experienced some issues. Despite multiple visits to the garage, the engine light remains on and the diagnostic tests have not been able to identify the problem. We are confident that with the right attention and care, these issues can be resolved and our vehicle will be running smoothly once again.
Monty Torp 2024-02-12
After driving my 2015 Chrysler Town and Country for 83,000 miles, the check engine light came on and my mechanic diagnosed a faulty transmission pump. Unfortunately, the cost to repair is $5,000. Interestingly, my mechanic informed me that there was a recall on the make and model for the same issue, but Chrysler claims that my car is not included in the recall due to its manufacturing location. Despite this setback, I am determined to resolve this issue and have filed a complaint with the NHTSA.
