2000 Chrysler Town and country problems
The Chrysler Town & Country is a minivan that was manufactured and marketed by Chrysler from 1990 to the 2016 model years. The third Chrysler minivan introduced in North America, the Town & Country adopted its nameplate from the flagship Chrysler station wagon line, adopting its exterior woodgrain trim as a design feature for several generations.
Marketed as the flagship of the Chrysler minivan line, five generations of the Town & Country were slotted above the extended-wheelbase Dodge Grand Caravan and Plymouth Grand Voyager. For 2017, Chrysler retired the nameplate, with sixth-generation Chrysler-division minivans becoming the Chrysler Pacifica. After the 2016 model year, Chrysler marked the sale of its 12 millionth minivan (under all three nameplates). Produced almost continuously for 75 years (with the exception of World War II and 1989), the Town & Country nameplate is the longest-produced Chrysler; its longevity is second only to the Chevrolet Suburban in worldwide automotive history.
Chrysler assembled the first three generations of the model line in its Saint Louis Assembly facility (Fenton, Missouri). The fourth and fifth-generation Town & Country were produced by Chrysler Canada by Windsor Assembly (Windsor, Ontario).

You have taken great care of this vehicle, ensuring regular oil/filter changes and replacing the rotors/brakes. It's impressive that it has held up so well, even after 120,000 miles!
-
I'm so glad I chose this minivan for my all-day trip! The captain's chairs were incredibly comfortable, and the van had great pickup, cornering, and road feel. Removing the 2nd and 3rd row seats was a breeze, and it gave me plenty of cargo space when I needed it. Even with all the seats in place, the van comfortably seats 7 people. In town, the fuel economy is around 13-14 mpg due to the hilly terrain, but on a trip cruising at 65-70 mph, I can get an impressive 24-26 mpg. Plus, the sliding doors on both sides make it easy to access the 2nd and 3rd rows or the cargo area.
-
I've had it for close to three years now. It's been great for my whole family, with plenty of room to spare. The power and versatility are impressive, and the seats are easily removable. Plus, it even fits full sheets of sheet rock with the door closed!
-
This minivan is incredibly spacious! While we gave Ford a chance, the Windstar just couldn't compare. The Expedition may look nice, but it lacks legroom in the second and third rows. My kids absolutely love having their own A/C controls in the back, and my wife can adjust the temperature on her side without affecting me.

We bought a 1996 T&C originally and had a few 'little things' go wrong such as the water pump, battery, and CD player, but nothing major. However, we loved the comfort, layout, and ease of handling so much that we decided to buy a 2000 model. We have been extremely pleased with it and have not experienced any issues.

Very good van, but the driver side window and alarm system keeps acting up. Sometimes the window won't come up unless we slam the door numerous times and sometimes the alarm would go off for no apparent reason. Can you please help us with this issue?

The gas mileage of this van is not the best compared to other models.
Kirk McKenzie 2024-05-01
This has been an affordable and practical vehicle to drive, although I did have to replace the speed sensor and have the transmission rebuilt at 75k miles. Unfortunately, it seems that Chrysler/Dodge minivans are prone to transmission issues, as I have heard from other owners and both the transmission shop and dealership confirmed. Despite this, the ride is nice and the features are great. However, the reliability could be improved. It's a shame that Chrysler has a reputation for bad transmissions around 60-70k miles, which may explain why there are so many for sale. Overall, I still enjoy driving this vehicle.
Albert Keeling 2024-04-10
Chrysler products have failed to meet my expectations. Despite the van's attractive appearance, its performance has been disappointing. The van's fuel efficiency is poor, particularly in the city, and we have encountered numerous issues with it. Even with an extended warranty, the cost of repairs has been exorbitant. Unfortunately, it appears that many other van owners have experienced similar problems, including A/C and heater issues, speed input/output sensors, window switches, moisture in headlamps, dim headlamps, and transmission modules. As a result, I do not feel confident in the safety of my family while driving this van.
