- Summary: While driving around 30mph, the van completely shut down. With nowhere to pull over on the right, and to avoid an accident, I turned left onto a side road. I quickly realized I had no power steering or brakes. I had 2 children in the vehicle and school had just let out. Luckily there was no accident. With no brakes, I just coasted until I came to a stop on the side of the road. I wasn’t able to move the shifter into park. After a few minutes, everything came back to life. I was able to shift to park, start it up and drive away. No warning lights came on. No check engine light. This situation could have become really bad, really quick.

- Summary: While driving in the parking lot of my kids school to drop them off in the morning, I heard a loud noise and felt something hit me in the back of my head with some force. It was not painful, but was actually very uncomfortable. I stopped in the parking lot to see what it was. I noticed that my driver side headrest was out of place (the fabric portion was popped forward) away from the plastic backing. I could see the the springs inside the headrest. My husband used a zip tie to pull the headrest back together. My vehicle was not in any accidents to cause this to happen. I did not take it to a dealer to inspect, as it just occurred. There were no warning signs/lights. It was very unexpected and abrupt. No one was injured, but my head was actually uncomfortable and I very glad that I did not have my son driving at the time, as he could have been injured due to the spring loaded force.

The first time this occurred we were driving 55mph on the highway and had to safely steer off of three lanes of traffic with our kids in the backseat, at the time we thought it was a fluke. Now this is happening more frequently. It is the exact same issue listed under recall L25 “the ignition key inadvertently moves into the OFF or ACCESSORY position, the engine will turn off, which will then depower various key safety systems including but not limited to air bags, power steering, and power braking. Loss of functionality of these systems may increase the risk of crash and/or increase the risk of injury in the event of a crash.”

This has been a great minivan. We really appreciate the vents that go all the way back (which is why we bought the Sport) and the built-in kid seats - they make life so much easier. The car runs great on the highway and handles really well. We do wish for better gas mileage - we can't wait until they start making hybrids or just improving the mileage.

I purchased our Grand Caravan in 1999, and it has been a reliable vehicle ever since. It is a Jet Black Grand Caravan Sport, with features such as the 3.8L engine, Infinity Sound system, and power everything except the seat. Although I miss the power seat, the computer and rear air make up for it. We bought it for $35,900CDN and it has served us well. We are trading it in this year for a Town and Country with the DVD option. Thank you for considering our trade-in!

Hi there! We bought this van used and it's been great so far! We actually had one of the first Dodge vans ever made back in '91 and we loved it, so we knew we had to get another one. We've had a few minor transmission and air-conditioning issues, but nothing too serious. We've actually had two Dodge Grand Caravans now, but we're thinking about switching it up and getting a Chrysler Town & Country for our next vehicle!

This van is such a pleasure to drive, especially on long trips. You sit up high for a great view of the road, and the seats are incredibly comfortable even with manual seat adjustments. Plus, it moves smoothly along at highway speeds of 75+ mph, even in the Rocky Mountains. It's also perfect for city driving and comes in handy for hauling furniture, building supplies, and kids.

It's great to hear that you've been enjoying your 2011 DGC for almost 6 years now! It sounds like it's been a very dependable vehicle for you, getting up to 20 city and 28 mpg highway. I love the idea of folding down the back seats and putting a memory foam down for vacation trips to let the kids sprawl out if they don't want to sit the whole time. It's good to know that the only issue you've had is needing new brakes every year or so, but it's great that you haven't had any other major issues. Thanks for sharing your experience with us!

Our '08 Grand Caravan SXT is a good vehicle, but I wouldn't get another one. As one reviewer mentioned, the car tends to eat brakes. I had to replace the front brakes at approximately 20K miles and the rear brakes at 25K miles. This is quite early, considering that rear brakes do only 10% of the stopping work. There is no reason for the rear brakes to be replaced so soon, which is absurd. However, I must say that Chrysler reimbursed me $93 for the brakes (I spent $200 for all 4 brakes), which was a pleasant surprise. We had a few trips to the dealership because the A/C didn't blow cold air and the radiator cap was leaking (both recalls). In terms of fuel economy, we averaged 23 MPG on a trip to Boston. Most of the driving is city driving, and we get 17MPG.

My wife and I bought our 2008 Grand Caravan a few years ago because we were drawn to its new body style and stow and go feature. Unfortunately, we have experienced 4 recalls and an electrical issue that no one seems to be able to diagnose. We have had to replace the brakes and rotors twice, which has been frustrating. Overall, we have not been satisfied with this vehicle. I hope Chrysler can improve their reliability and affordability in the future. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

We purchased this car used with 26k miles and had no major issues for the first 12 months. However, we have had to take it to the shop several times for minor issues since then, such as a broken windshield washer pump, power locks on the rear doors, and rear washer. Additionally, the A/C leaked on the floorboards and the brake system has not been reliable. Despite regular oil changes every 3,000 miles, we have had to do an engine system flush due to sludge build-up every other time. The power steering also binds. Overall, while we have not experienced any major problems with the engine, it has been frustrating to have to bring the van in for repairs so frequently.
