I quickly realized I had no power steering or brakes. I had 2 children in the vehicle and school had just let out. Luckily there was no accident. With no brakes, I just coasted until I came to a stop on the side of the road. I wasn’t able to move the shifter into park. After a few minutes, everything came back to life. I was able to shift to park, start it up and drive away. No warning lights came on. No check engine light. This situation could have become really bad, really quick.

- Summary: While driving in the parking lot of my kids school to drop them off in the morning, I heard a loud noise and felt something hit me in the back of my head with some force. It was not painful, but was actually very uncomfortable. I stopped in the parking lot to see what it was. I noticed that my driver side headrest was out of place (the fabric portion was popped forward) away from the plastic backing. I could see the the springs inside the headrest. My husband used a zip tie to pull the headrest back together. My vehicle was not in any accidents to cause this to happen. I did not take it to a dealer to inspect, as it just occurred. There were no warning signs/lights. It was very unexpected and abrupt. No one was injured, but my head was actually uncomfortable and I very glad that I did not have my son driving at the time, as he could have been injured due to the spring loaded force.

It is the exact same issue listed under recall L25 “the ignition key inadvertently moves into the OFF or ACCESSORY position, the engine will turn off, which will then depower various key safety systems including but not limited to air bags, power steering, and power braking. Loss of functionality of these systems may increase the risk of crash and/or increase the risk of injury in the event of a crash.”

Hello there! Thank you for considering our vehicle. We understand that maintenance can be a hassle, but it's important to keep up with it to ensure the longevity of your car. We recommend changing your fluids regularly, including your transmission fluids. Additionally, we suggest driving responsibly to avoid putting unnecessary strain on your brakes. Our 3.3 and 3.8 engines are fantastic options, as they require very little maintenance and are easy to service. Plus, parts are affordable and easy to find. We've personally taken our cars on long trips across the country and have had no issues. Of course, it's always helpful to have some mechanical knowledge, but with regular service, our engines can easily reach 300,000 miles without needing a major rebuild. I really like this vehicle, but unfortunately it spends too much time in the shop. There were too many issues to mention here, such as the window motor, door motor, AC, radio, and transmission. However, the high-end extended warranty of 7 years/100,000 miles was definitely worth it. We received $8-10K worth of work via the warranty, which was a huge relief. The van has a sports handling package and rides well, although there is some noise. We take this van from DC to FL every year. The interior is nice, although somewhat plasticky, but it feels solid. The exterior is very sporty and one of the nicer looking vans on the road. Overall, I enjoyed the van, but even with the warranty, it was a hassle going back and forth to the dealer. We eventually replaced it with a Sienna. This was our 3rd Chrysler, so I would advise not to buy one without a warranty.

Ok, it's not the latest design, and the entertainment system is a bit outdated, but apart from that, this Dodge is a likeable and willing travel companion. The engine is very eager and provides surprising performance. I wonder if it's the same one they use in the Charger, as it certainly is powerful and provides great acceleration for joining the interstate. The heated seats and steering wheel are comfortable, and I had no aches or pains after hours of driving. If you need a vehicle this size, I highly recommend Dodge.

We purchased our 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan SE used in 2011 with 90,000 miles on the odometer for our trip to Nauvoo. It was the perfect vehicle for the trip! We were able to fit all of our luggage in the van with no problem (one seat removed). In 2012, we drove to Yellowstone National Park and the van performed very well. Although some reviewers say that the 3.3L V6 is somewhat underpowered, it worked well for us. We did have to replace the brakes and the power steering reservoir, but overall, we enjoyed the van until it was unfortunately totaled in an accident. We replaced it with an 07 T&C LX Stow n Go that is even better! Highly recommended.

I love having a van! However, I have had some issues with my 2008 Grand Caravan that I bought in 2014 with 59K miles. Unfortunately, at 71K miles, the oil pan is still leaking (even though it was replaced at 61K miles) and now I have a leaky head gasket and oil pan. Additionally, when using the bottom charger, I have to hold the rim of the outlet as it pulls out. The radio also loses power and then suddenly comes back on after a day or two. I lost 3 qts of oil due to a broken oil pan bolt gasket, and the oil light NEVER came on. I am disappointed with the reliability of this vehicle, especially since I have kept up with oil changes, flushes, recalls, etc. At 71K miles, a vehicle should not have these types of problems. Unfortunately, this has led to the cancellation of our summer vacation, and I feel like I have let down my children because I don't feel safe driving long distances due to reliability. Despite the room and storage, I will never buy a Dodge again.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share my experience with the caravan I bought a few years ago. At the time, I thought it would be perfect for my family, especially with the built-in child seats. However, I've had to spend quite a bit of money on repairs over the years. Looking back, I wish I had known that it was part of a series of caravans with bad transmissions. Luckily, we had purchased an extended warranty, which covered the first transmission replacement. The second one happened just after the warranty expired, but we were able to work out a 50/50 split with the dealership. Overall, it's been a bit of a bumpy ride, but I'm glad we were able to find a solution. Let me know if you have any questions!

I've had this van for about four years now and unfortunately, I've had some trouble with it. In the beginning, there were some small issues like the rear hatch opening unexpectedly. Since the warranty ran out, we've had some trouble with the transmission shifting back and forth between gears as we accelerate, the water pump has gone, the front end is loose and makes strange noises - I suspect the ball joints are shot, and the transmission hose broke and dumped transmission fluid all over the road. Additionally, the engine seems to be losing oil at a rapid rate. Although it doesn't seem to be leaking, I can only assume that it is burning oil. This is my third Dodge Van, and while the first two were good, this one has had problem after problem. I'm not sure if I'll buy another Dodge van in the future, but I appreciate your time and attention to this matter.
