Once I pulled over I had a friend call 911 to report my van on fire while I tried to open the hood & put the fire out. The hood was to hot to open so I grabbed everything I could from my van & stayed clear of it until the Arizona fire dept & Arizona highway patrol came. All my information was taken by the Arizona highway patrol. I was told that my van will be at J&S Towing & that my friends & i can leave the scene.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2014-09-01
- VIN: 2B4GP44R72R
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
- Summary: THE DATE AND MILEAGE ARE APPROXIMATE, BUT THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE LAST FALL (2014). WHEN PLACING THE KEY IN THE ACC POSITION EVERYTHING WORKS. AFTER STARTING THE MOTOR, MANY TIMES THE WIPERS, RADIO, POWER WINDOWS AND INTERNAL FAN WILL NOT COME ON FOR AS LITTLE AS A FEW SECONDS OR AS LONG AS AN HOUR. IT DOES NOT TO ALWAYS HAPPEN, BUT VERY FREQUENTLY IT DOES. IT SOMETIMES SEEMS TO BE WEATHER RELATED... HEAT, COLD, RAINING OR SNOWING WHEN THIS HAPPENS. THE DANGER IS SHUTTING THE VEHICLE OFF ESPECIALLY ON A RAINY/SNOWY DAY, BEING AWAY FROM HOME AND THE WIPERS WILL NOT WORK WHEN RE-STARTING THE VEHICLE. I HAVE HAD THE FUSE AND COMPUTER UNITS CHANGED (TOTAL FUSE POWER BOX REPLACED NEW ABOUT 1-1/2 YEARS AGO WHICH I WAS TOLD WAS AN UPGRADED BETTER SEALED UNIT AND THE COMPUTER ATTACHED IN FRONT OF IT REPLACED WITH A USED ONE ABOUT 1 MONTH AGO) BUT THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. IT IS MY OPINION THIS IS A DANGEROUS SAFETY ISSUE SINCE IT CONCERNS THE WIPERS NOT ABLE TO WORK. I KNOW WHICH FUSE OPERATES THEM AND HAVE TRIED REPLACING IT, BUT THIS IS NOT THE PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM IS, IT WILL NOT CLICK ON UNTIL WHAT EVER IS CAUSING IT NOT TO DECIDES TO LET IT COME ON. I BELIEVE THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE ADDRESSED BY DODGE AND NOT BE AN EXPENSE TO MYSELF OR ANY OTHER OWNER WHO HAS THIS PROBLEM. THANK YOU FOR HEARING MY GRIEVANCE. *TR

This has been a great minivan. We really appreciate the vents that go all the way back (which is why we bought the Sport) and the built-in kid seats - they make life so much easier. The car runs great on the highway and handles really well. We do wish for better gas mileage - we can't wait until they start making hybrids or just improving the mileage.
-
I've been driving this vehicle for over 6 months and 10k miles, and it still feels and drives just as great as the day I picked it up. The Dodge dealer I worked with was fantastic - they offered lots of options at a much lower price than Honda, and I didn't have to deal with any negative attitudes from the Honda dealer.
-
The van looks great both inside and out. The ride is very comfortable and surprisingly quiet. The controls are conveniently laid out, and I particularly love the dual and rear climate controls. The V6 engine is powerful and provides great acceleration. Although I did experience some issues with exterior trim pieces at the windshield and driver side sliding door coming loose, overall, I think it's a great van. I recently traded it in for its sibling, a Chrysler Town & Country LX, only because I was getting close to 36K miles. As many already know, Dodge/Chrysler's reliability record is not one to brag about, although they do make good looking vehicles.
-
I purchased this van for a small mobile business I started. From day one, it has been extremely reliable. I get a lot of compliments on it and love being seen in it. My family is loving it, except for the 14mpg I get since I live and work in the city. :)

So far so good! Your Mie may be a 2001, but it's still a great car. Your wife seems to love it, which is always a good sign. It sounds like you have all the options except for the DVD/video, which is still pretty impressive. Plus, you have a 7-year/100,000-mile warranty on the powertrain and transmission, and a 3-year/36,000-mile warranty on everything else. That's fantastic!

Hi there! We purchased our van with 35,000 miles on it and decided to buy an extended warranty from a company that unfortunately went out of business. However, we did manage to get some repairs done before that happened. This van has been amazing for our family trips, even without a DVD/TV system. We didn't encounter too many issues until we hit around 100,000 miles, but the motor still runs great! We made sure to change the oil every 3000 miles and had the transmission serviced several times. Recently, we had to fix the lock on one of the sliding doors and had some front end problems, including sway bar bushings and a CV shaft, which cost us $500 to fix. Our last brake job lasted 3 years, and we also replaced the EGR valve. Currently, the engine light is on due to some vacuum problems, as well as a belt, tensioner, and water pump that need replacing, which will cost us another $500. Overall, we've had a great experience with our van and have taken good care of it to ensure it lasts for many more miles to come!
Leonel Spinka 2024-10-15
The doors rattle and the 3.5L engine is not as responsive as in the previously leased 99 Grand Caravan. Additionally, the seats are uncomfortable.
Chet DuBuque 2024-10-06
I bought the vehicle used with 15k miles and have never had any problems. The engine is powerful and the power sliding doors and lift gate are great for our two kids. Although the interior could be a little more luxurious, it is certainly adequate. Overall, it is a very nice vehicle for families. The stock tires were pretty lousy, especially in the rain, but we replaced them with Goodyear Assurance TripleTred's and it made a HUGE improvement. We also had to replace the front brakes at 27k miles.
Jayson Wyman 2024-07-16
After 3300 miles, you may have some trouble with your vehicle. Unfortunately, the ABS sensor failed and the power sliding door stopped working. At 5000 miles, the power steering cooling line ruptured, and at 5700 miles, the A/C compressor seized, which required a tow from the highway. At 6000 miles, there was excessive noise from the front end, and after three trips to the dealer and 4000 miles, it's getting louder. It's disappointing to see that the city mileage is only 13mpg, which is unacceptable for a sticker claiming 18mpg!!!
Archibald Howe 2024-06-11
I have a '96 Grand Voyager (same as Grand Caravan). The transmission blew at 60k and now with 130k it's beginning to slip. But I must admit it has served us well. You get good power out of the 3.3L V6. Lots of room and a VERY comfortable ride.
