IN DEC. 2009 I HAD THE POWER STEERING PUMP REPLACED. IT WORKED FOR ABOUT A YEAR. THEN IN DEC. 2010, I HAD THE POWER STEERING PUMP FLUSH. THE MECHANIC SAID TO WARM UP THE CAR BEFORE DRIVING. IT WORKED IN THE SUMMER MONTHS BUT NOT IN THE WINTER. IN JANUARY 2012 THE STEERING WAS REALLY HARD. I HAD A HARD TIME BACKING UP, TURNING EITHER WAY OR JUST DRIVING AT ALL. I GOT TWO DIFFERENT MECHANICS OPINION AND THEY SAID THAT THE RACK AND PINION, STEERING RACK, NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. SO, AFTER CHANGING THE RESERVOIR THE RACK AND PINION STILL NEEDED TO BE CHANGED. THE MECHANIC SAID THEY HAVE CHANGED A LOT OF RACK AND PINION IN DODGE/CHRYSLER MINI VANS. THEY ARE NOT LASTING THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE.

FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2011-08-11
- Components: FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE
- Summary: RUPTURED FUEL LINE SPRAYING GASOLINE ONTO MUFFLER. THE FUEL LINES ARE PLASTIC AND ARE ATTACHED TO THE FUEL FILTER AND ARE REPLACED TOGETHER AS A UNIT. THE PLASTIC LINE HAD A QUARTER INCH RUPTURE. THIS FILTER HAD LESS THAN 30K MILES AND WAS ABOUT A YEAR OLD. WHY DOES CHRYSLER USE PLASTIC FUEL LINE? I DO NOT KNOW THE CAUSE - A WEAK INFERIOR PLASTIC OR A SHARP STONE PERHAPS. EITHER WAY, IT DOES NOT MATTER. I HAVE NEVER SEEN A HARD PLASTIC USED FOR FUEL DELIVERY. THE OLD STYLE RUBBER FUEL HOSES WOULD BE MUCH BETTER AND SAFER. I AM THINKING THIS PLASTIC IS USED BECAUSE OF THE FLEX FUEL OPTION BUT I AM NOT A MECHANIC. I AM GLAD MY VEHICLE DID NOT CATCH FIRE. I WAS LUCKY. AFTER REPLACING THE FILTER WITH A NEW ONE FROM NAPA ONE OF THE FUEL LINES WOULD NOT STOP LEAKING. I HAD TO RETURN IT FOR ANOTHER NON LEAKING FILTER. BECAUSE OF THIS I AM ALSO CONCERNED ABOUT THE QUALITY OF REPLACEMENT PARTS AS WELL. *TR

We bought our 01 GC Sport in late 2000, after owning a 96 Sable wagon. We absolutely love our van! Not only can we tow our 20 ft bow rider with it, but the cargo room when all the seats are removed is like having a Uhaul. The engine has plenty of power and sounds throaty like a Durango or even a Charger. Reaching highway speeds is no problem for the peppy little 3.3 liter V6, even with 7 adult-sized passengers. We did have one power window motor die out on our son while he was at a car wash (horrible scenario), and once needed a new starter. However, repairing anything on a Chrysler product is thankfully never a

I used to own a 98 Plymouth Voyager Expresso, which was just like a grand only shorty. When I bought it, it had 140,000 km on it and I used it as a service van with ladder racks loaded with equipment and ran all over N.A. until I quit contracting (around 210,000 km). I just changed the oil and it was great. I converted it back to a family vehicle 2 years ago and ran it up to 268,000 km 2 weeks ago. I only had to put tires on it, do a brake job, and replace one rear window motor for a total cost of $40. It's been great! Two weeks ago, it finally blew a water pump which cost $89 new and 2 hours of labor. I also had to replace one serpentine belt for $40. The total cost of the van was $5969.00 Canadian. It's a great van! I just bought a 2001 Grand and I love it!

Overall, the minivan has been incredibly reliable and practical. I bought it with 35k miles from the dealer and have had zero problems. The ride quality is good and the interior comfort is adequate. The fuel economy is almost too good and the van handles very well. For the price, you probably won't find better. I would definitely recommend it (although the 3.8 would add more power).

My wife and I are on our third grand caravan and we couldn't be happier with our experience. We travel a lot and have had great enjoyment from these vehicles.

I bought this car used at 41,000 miles and have been driving it about 20,000 miles per year. Currently, it has 121,000 miles and I must say, I'm impressed! Apart from a rusted coolant pipe (which was damaged when hit by a rock kicked up underneath), I have had $0.00 in repairs. So far, I have only needed one tune-up at 100,000 miles, and brakes and tires at 25,000 and 60,000 mile intervals. I'm not easy on this car, as it's my daily driver for a 50 mile round-trip commute in bumper-to-bumper traffic, all types of weather, including snow and ice. But it has never let me down. The car has great control, comfortable seats, and a fantastic stereo. It's as good as any import. The transmission shifts perfectly, the engine still runs like new, and there has been no loss of oil or coolant. It runs quietly and starts quickly every time. There's plenty of room for my family of six and all our stuff, and the interior still looks like new.

I purchased my first vehicle in 1986, followed by a second in 1990, a third in 1996, and this one in 2001. Unfortunately, my previous vehicle had transmission issues and I had to trade it in with 112,000 miles on it. My current vehicle is a Sport FWD model with 60,000 miles on it, the majority of which were accumulated on the highway. However, the front end is in need of some repairs, specifically new struts and ball joints. The ride quality is quite poor and noticeable to anyone. Despite this, the dealership has refused to acknowledge the issue. Fortunately, my trusted mechanic has informed me of the necessary repairs. I have decided to purchase a Japanese vehicle, either a Toyota Sienna or Honda Odyssey. It is unfortunate that I will no longer be a customer of this dealership, but I am confident in my decision.

After enjoying 8 years of trouble-free service from our 1993 Dodge Caravan, we decided to purchase a new one in 2001. Although it is very comfortable, we have unfortunately experienced some mechanical issues with this vehicle. We have had to replace the alternator, many rotors, and the A/C is no longer functioning. Additionally, it now requires a new transmission, water pump, and a few other minor repairs. Regrettably, I cannot recommend this vehicle.

The van has experienced several issues, particularly with its electrical system. Despite the dealer's attempts to fix it twice, the problem persists, causing power to flicker on and off during wet weather and even causing the wipers to stop working while driving on the highway in the rain. Additionally, the A/C compressor failed recently, and it is necessary to fix it promptly to ensure the engine runs smoothly. The cost of the repair is $1000. However, I am confident that once these issues are resolved, the van will perform well.

This van is very dependable. About 5 years ago, we rented one on vacation and my mother-in-law loved it so much that we bought her one. Unfortunately, she doesn't drive it unless she absolutely has to because she and my wife, who are both about 5'1 and 5'2, find it uncomfortable to drive. On the plus side, it is very reliable. Although the gas mileage is lacking, we previously owned a Chevy Venture van that outperformed this one by a landslide. We are a little hesitant to get rid of it because of its dependability, but my mother-in-law has since bought a Chrysler Sebring and we will probably be getting a Suburban soon.

We won't make this mistake again! The AC compressor went out 100 miles after the warranty, but luckily it was extended. We are still trying to get our money back, but unfortunately, Dodge is not willing to pay. We have experienced many problems with the extended warranty, as they did not transfer it from the original owner, yet somehow this has become our responsibility. The customer service has been horrible. The automatic window motors went out on both doors, the ignition had to be replaced, the auto door in the back doesn't work, and there have been numerous electrical problems (we have taken it in for repair at least 4 times) that have never been fixed. The parts used seem to be of low quality. We do not believe that it is worth the money or your time.
