Bmw X5 problems

The BMW X5 is a mid-size luxury crossover SUV produced by BMW. The X5 made its debut in 1999 as the E53 model. It was BMW's first SUV. At launch, it featured all-wheel drive and was available with either a manual or automatic gearbox. The second generation was launched in 2006, and was known internally as the E70. The E70 featured the torque-split capable xDrive all-wheel drive system mated to an automatic gearbox. In 2009, the X5 M performance variant was released as a 2010 model.
BMW marketed the X5 officially as a "Sports Activity Vehicle" (SAV), rather than an SUV, to indicate its on-road handling capability despite its large dimensions. The X5 signaled a shift away from the utilisation of body-on-frame construction, in favour of more modern monocoque chassis construction. Although the Mercedes-Benz M-Class was introduced more than a year prior to the X5, the X5 was the first to utilise a monocoque chassis. The M-Class used body-on-frame construction until its second generation.
The X5 is primarily manufactured in North America, at BMW Group Plant Spartanburg. Assembly operations also take place in Russia by Avtotor, along with operations in India, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand. The X5 is also modified for armoured security versions, at the BMW de México Toluca plant.
The automaker's SAV series, which was started by the X5, has expanded with derivations of other number-series BMWs. This began in 2003 with the X3, and continued in 2008 with the X6 (which shares its platform with the X5).

Vehicle year: 2023
This is my fifth X5. While I appreciate the new 2022 model, I have noticed a few details that BMW has removed, such as the fog lamps and the off switch for the engine at lights. Additionally, the electric rear power close on the lower tailgate and the metal luggage protective bands on the floor of the trunk are no longer included. It did take a bit longer than expected to receive my car, but I understand that the electric version will not be available until October or later 2022. As a loyal BMW customer, I hope that the company will continue to prioritize the needs and preferences of its customers.

Vehicle year: 2012
On the highway, in the passing lane... this is where the BMW X5 sets itself apart. It holds the lane so well and it is eager to go fast. It is also very comfortable on a long trip home from the ski slopes. However, there is a trade-off. While it may outperform a Lexus GX in the passing lane, it may require more frequent visits to the repair shop to fix minor issues and warning lights.

Vehicle year: 2010
The 2010 BMW X5 was my introduction to the BMW brand and it has been a delightful experience. It strikes a perfect balance between a car and an SUV. I was able to take advantage of a price discount by the dealer when I bought it with 12,000 miles. Since then, I have driven it for 14,000 miles and it has been a pleasure. The 'control wheel' in the 2010 model, which manages access to radio, navigation, etc., is surprisingly user-friendly and much better than the 2009 and earlier versions. The finishes and quality of the car are a testament to the great reputation that this brand has earned. I have not had any service issues with the car since purchase.

I hope you're doing well! I wanted to share my experience with my BMW X5 that I purchased this summer. While I was initially thrilled with my purchase, I've found that the maintenance and repair costs have been quite high. Unfortunately, I've had to take it to the shop at least once a month for various issues. If you're looking for a car that's easy to maintain and affordable, I would recommend considering other options. Thanks for listening!

Vehicle year: 2011
Just took delivery of my 7th X5 after trading a 2009 35d for a 2011 35d. I'm really impressed with the improvements BMW has made to the 2011 model. The road, exhaust, and engine noise have been significantly reduced, making for a much more refined and luxurious feel. The suspension has also been improved, resulting in a smoother ride. I'm particularly pleased that BMW has addressed the only significant flaw in my previous X5. It's clear that BMW has been listening to their customers and I'm grateful for the changes they've made. Well done BMW!

Vehicle year: 2020
Hi there! I've had my 2020 X5 x40i for 3 months now and I've been to Pacific BMW 3 times to reprogram the wifi and cell phone communication. Unfortunately, after the 3rd visit, the issue has resurfaced. While it's frustrating, I've decided not to fix it again. I understand that the X5 technology can be a bit finicky, so I'll just enjoy driving it like an old car. I do wish I had leased it instead of buying it, but I'm still happy with my decision. I actually traded in a 2018 Audi Q5 with excellent technology, which I do miss. Thanks for listening!

BMW used to be known for its performance and reliability. However, some recent experiences have left us disappointed. We had to replace our X5 twice in two years, and we encountered some issues with the telescoping wheel motors and tail lamp malfunction. While BMW quoted us a high price for the repairs, we decided to trade it in. If you're considering buying a BMW, it's important to be aware of these potential issues. Alternatively, you may want to consider an Infiniti or Lexus. We hope this information is helpful!

Vehicle year: 2005
It's unfortunate that this is the 6th BMW I've owned and it turned out to be my last. I purchased this X5 Certified Pre-Owned, which allowed me to drive around in a newer model BMW almost every month due to the numerous times I had to take my X5 in for service. Although I bought it from an authorized BMW dealer, it was in service just a week after purchase. So far, I've had to replace the transmission, alternator, rear lights, roof trim, electronic dash, and fix the panorama sunroof (not replace it) and xenon headlamp. The worst part is that it takes three visits for every one issue and it's never done right the first time. Additionally, BMW charges $50 for CPO repairs.

Vehicle year: 2008
I purchased this vehicle brand new in June 2008. Unfortunately, I experienced some issues with the A/C blower motor, fuel pump, and transmission within the first six months of ownership. While I was disappointed with these problems, I was also frustrated with the BMW highway assistance service. It was difficult to get through to them and the wait times were quite long. Despite these challenges, I still appreciate the quality of the vehicle and hope to have a better experience in the future.

Vehicle year: 2001
The moment I bought this vehicle I was very excited. However, I soon encountered some problems. The rack and pinion leaked all over my garage twice, costing me $2200. Then, I had to replace the front axles for $400, followed by the ignition coils for $800, and several sensors, from MAF to knock sensors, for $900, all within twenty thousand miles! Unfortunately, I had to sell it at a huge loss. In my opinion, BMW should be embarrassed to have ever put this on the market.
