The BMW X5 is a mid-size luxury crossover SUV produced by BMW. The X5 made its debut in 1999 as the E53 model. It was BMW's first SUV. The X5 is primarily manufactured in North America, at BMW Group Plant Spartanburg. Assembly operations also take place in Russia by Avtotor, along with operations in India, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand. The X5 is also modified for armoured security versions, at the BMW de México Toluca plant.
The automaker's SAV series, which was started by the X5, has expanded with derivations of other number-series BMWs. This began in 2003 with the X3, and continued in 2008 with the X6 (which shares its platform with the X5).

Great performance. Very pleased with MPG. Repair costs are high relative to other similar SUVs. Navigation screen/system is disappointing relative to other nav systems I have used. It lacks a touch screen and is not very intuitive. The traffic information is unreliable and inaccurate at times, and the travel directions are very basic and lacking in functionality. Overall, this is a very well-engineered vehicle, but the navigation system could use some improvement.

Hi there! I just wanted to let you know that I sold my car at 135,000 miles. Unfortunately, one of the turbos blew at that mileage. However, I still think it's a good all-around car!

I understand that some people may not prefer the harsh suspension and heavy steering of certain vehicles. That's why I decided to stick with BMW and chose a 2013 model instead of waiting for a 2014. I found that driving a model with the newer steering was too light and reminded me of the two Lexus vehicles I had previously owned. However, the X3 drove well with the new unit. I am aware that the diesel option may have some expensive fixes, but the 2014 model will have a revised diesel, so I felt it would be better to go with the last run of the current motors. While the build quality is good, I have noticed that some of the plastic pieces creak and pop, which is not what I would expect in a 70K SUV. Therefore, I cannot give it a 5 in quality. On the other hand, this E70 has good visibility and seating heights, and I opted for the multi-contour seats.

Bought this car used after test driving dozens of other makes and models. Have driven Z28 Camaro's for 20 years, and this is as close to a sports car as I can find and have 4 doors. It's powerful and has awesome performance. It's the best car I have ever owned. I've had it for almost a year and I still love to drive it! If you haven't driven one, you should! It will make you smile. I'm definitely going to own more BMW's in the future!

Although the car's performance is impressive, the build quality and comfort have been subpar. The vehicle has spent over 40 days at the dealership within the first 7 months, which is unacceptable. Additionally, the car is quite noisy on the road and the plastics creak. The entertainment system is also disappointing for a vehicle of this price. Overall, this experience has left me disappointed with BMW and I will not be purchasing from them again.

I was disappointed with the run flat tires on my previous car as they gave a rough ride and were very expensive to replace. Additionally, the car lacked an oil dipstick and a coolant temp gauge which was frustrating. However, I must say that the dealer was great. Although the car was overpriced and under delivered on performance and value compared to my previous BMWs, I decided to sell it back to the dealer in October 2016. This was due to the inability to get the Takata airbag replacement done in a timely manner. I wanted the remainder of my $4800 6yr/100,000 mile warranty money back and the dealer was able to accommodate me. I replaced it with a loaded 2017 Ford Explorer Sport which cost me $10,000 less than the X5 and had superior power, handling, and comfort. The car has performed flawlessly over 16,000 miles and one year so far. I appreciate the nice touches that the Ford has that the BMW didn't have, and the extended warranty was only $2000 instead of almost $5000. Goodbye BMW!
