The Toyota Yaris (Japanese: トヨタ・ヤリス, Hepburn: Toyota Yarisu) is a supermini/subcompact car sold by Toyota since 1999, replacing the Starlet and Tercel.
Up to 2019, Toyota had used the Yaris nameplate on export versions of various Japanese-market models, with some markets receiving the same vehicles under the Toyota Echo name through 2005. Starting in 2020, the Yaris nameplate began to be used in Japan, which replaced the Vitz nameplate.
The Yaris nameplate has also been applied to other vehicles. From 1999 to 2005, the nameplate had been used for the Yaris Verso mini MPV sold in Europe, where it was known in Japan as the FunCargo. Since 2020, the nameplate has also been used for the subcompact crossover SUV offering called Yaris Cross. In North America, most Yaris sedan models sold from 2015 to 2020 and Yaris hatchbacks sold from 2019 until 2020 were restyled versions of the Mazda2, produced and developed by Mazda.
In 2020, Toyota introduced the GR Yaris, which is a three-door performance-oriented variant of the XP210 series Yaris using the Gazoo Racing branding. It is built as a homologation model for the FIA World Rally Championship.
The name "Yaris" is derived from "Charis", the singular form of Charites, the Greek goddesses of charm and beauty. As of March 2020, the Yaris has sold 8.71 million units worldwide.

In occasions when I go out to my residence, I need to go thru a control system that content a electrical barrier (electric arm), and around 4 or 5 times, when I close to this area the car did a hard stop, and the collision red light turned on with a beep sound, the same indication when the car activate the breaking system in the highway and when I try to park in some times to my garage. The most critical issue is when hard stooping in the highway due to in these times the other vehicles claimed me why reason I stopping without any reason, and them are very close to collision the back of my car. When this happen the sound of the tires of my car can be ear clearly the hard stopping. I very disappointment and very scare this defect was and will be in danger my life, due to the dealer retailer that I buy my car don't found any issue after my notification and I had no choice open a case directly with the Toyota, and now the dealer retailer will do an a correct inspection but I need to pay for this, is incredible due to my 2020 car only have 18,000 used miles.

The first incident involved the engine laboring to start and when she came home, the battery was dead. I was able to re-charge the battery at home but 2 days later, the car would not start at home. I have an auto engine scanner that registered a P2610 code stating "an Engine Control Module, ECM/PCM Engine Off Timer Performance". The battery had been completely drained of its liquid. This is a safety hazard that could have stranded my daughter as she sometimes drives to Houston which is about 30 miles away. I researched this code and found that the NHTSA has previously issued notices on these problems. We need help getting it resolved.Car is available for inspection.

- Summary: Since my original lease of my 2015 Toyota Yaris SE from Hanlees Hilltop Toyota in January 2015, both the front and rear bumpers have continually come unfastened. This was described as a known defect by two employees at this location: Tito Anopol (phone [XXX] ) and [XXX] (phone [XXX] ). [XXX] noted the roof trim was also notorious for coming unfastened. He removed the top inlets from the roof exterior, helped replace them with OEMs, yet they still flew off the vehicle on the freeway. On August 29, 2023, the service team at Hanlees Hilltop Toyota verified the tabs on the bumpers are broken, and are even saying they cannot guarantee they will be able to properly install new parts if I order them from here, and are trying to refer me to a body shop? My wife recently sold her standard cab Tacoma. After a few weeks of searching for a Scion tC, we decided to take a look at the Yaris. At first, I was a little hesitant as it appeared to be fairly small. However, after test driving it, we knew we wanted it. It's a fantastic car that not only gets great gas mileage but is also fun to drive and feels incredibly solid. I would rate it well above 10 if I could. Overall, it's a great car at a great price with excellent mileage!

Despite being a basic economy car, it has exceeded my expectations with its fuel efficiency and low maintenance costs. Unlike hybrid cars, there are no expensive battery replacements or complicated powertrain systems to worry about. Although it lacks a standard tachometer and armrest, I was able to easily purchase an aftermarket armrest online to make long trips more comfortable. Overall, I am confident in the quality and value of my car.

This is an amazing beater car! I purchased it for work purposes due to its incredible fuel mileage. Although it is small, it is tough and can handle anything. I drive 25 miles each way on country roads and have encountered a racoon, a coyote, a couple of rabbits, a cat, and even two deer. The first collision was a light tap and I only lost the hood emblem. Unfortunately, the second one was fatal for the deer and my Yaris was totaled. However, after 206,000 miles and zero mechanic bills, this car was a great friend to me. I was unharmed in the accident, which is a testament to the car's safety features. The Yaris consistently got over 40 mpg, the AC worked great, the radio was fine, and it was very comfortable. It handled great, heated up quickly, and I used it for what it was intended for - a work car. The hatchback model was like having a mini-truck, and parking was a breeze due to its size. I highly recommend this car, and I was so satisfied with it that I used the insurance money and some of my own to purchase another one. This car could have easily run for over 300,000 miles. Although I am a Ford man, I must say that for practicality, the Yaris is the best. It is a shame that they have been discontinued. If you are looking for luxury, then keep looking, but if you are thrifty, then just go for it. You can get up to 425 miles on a single tank of gas!

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share my experience with the 3 dr hatchbacks we usually buy. They're great for us because we use them as two seaters with plenty of storage/cargo room. While the back seats don't offer as much room as older hatchback designs like the 89 Mazda 323 or the 86 Toyota Tercel, the driveline packs quite a punch in power compared to the older models. We've even managed to push up the gas mileage to 40 mpg by reverting back to 14 inch rims with 175/70r14's by Toyo. The OEM Bridgestones drifted too much, but the Toyo's glued it to the road and bumped the gas another 3mpg's! One thing to note is that the car doesn't come with an air filter in the a/c system from the factory, so make sure to install one. Lastly, we added body side molding. I will not be purchasing another Toyota after driving this vehicle for 8 years. The car's suspension is not up to par, as even small bumps and pieces of gravel can be felt through the steering wheel. Additionally, I experienced an unpleasant incident where I hit a mouse and could feel the impact through the steering wheel. Despite these issues, the car's mileage is satisfactory.

At first glance, this car is stunning. It is well-appointed and extremely appealing with striking lines. My friends who have ridden in it could not get over how silky smooth it rides and how quiet it is for an econobox car. However, after 10k miles, I have noticed some drawbacks. Although the seats look supportive, they are really lacking. If you are under 5'8Although the sound quality is great, it lacks the deep bass and high notes that most car systems can produce. Additionally, there are limited storage areas in the car, with only one small spot under the radio for your phone, wallet, etc. After driving 24,000 miles in eight months, I have come to the conclusion that I won't be keeping the car as long as I thought I would. Unfortunately, the seats are too small and I can't seem to find a consistently comfortable position. However, my wife and daughter, who are only 5'2

I strongly believe that my 2013 Yaris SE does not provide a comfortable ride. The steering wheel is overly sensitive and every bump on the road is felt, making it an unpleasant driving experience. Additionally, I had an unfortunate incident where I hit a mouse and could feel the impact through the steering wheel. As a result, I have decided not to purchase any Toyota products in the future.
