The Toyota Yaris (Japanese: トヨタ・ヤリス, Hepburn: Toyota Yarisu) is a supermini/subcompact car sold by Toyota since 1999, replacing the Starlet and Tercel.
Up to 2019, Toyota had used the Yaris nameplate on export versions of various Japanese-market models, with some markets receiving the same vehicles under the Toyota Echo name through 2005. Starting in 2020, the Yaris nameplate began to be used in Japan, which replaced the Vitz nameplate.

In 2020, Toyota introduced the GR Yaris, which is a three-door performance-oriented variant of the XP210 series Yaris using the Gazoo Racing branding. It is built as a homologation model for the FIA World Rally Championship.
The name "Yaris" is derived from "Charis", the singular form of Charites, the Greek goddesses of charm and beauty. As of March 2020, the Yaris has sold 8.71 million units worldwide.

The wire harnesses for the side air bag sensors located within the front doors may crack and corrode, possibly causing the non-deployment or improper deployment of the front seat side air bags and the curtain shield air bags.
- Consequence: In the event of a crash, front seat side air bags and curtain shield air bags that do not deploy as intended can increase the risk of injury.
- Remedy: Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will replace the wire harness assembly in the front doors, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began June 7, 2019. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-888-270-9371. Toyota's number for this recall is K1F/K0F.

The Load Carrying Capacity Modification Label may not reflect the correct added weight of the installed accessories. I noticed a few things that I think could be improved with the car. For example, the turning radius is not as good as the older 2008 model, and the cupholders that were on the side of the front dash have been removed. Additionally, I live on a road with a steep dirt and gravel hill, and one night when it was snowing, my mom and I had trouble getting up the hill because the car shut itself off once we hit the max power. This could have been dangerous, but thankfully we were okay. On the positive side, I really like how the car handles without snow, and the touchscreen and hands-free calling features are pretty cool. However, as a tall person, I do have some trouble seeing out of the rearview mirror, which seems to have been designed for shorter people. Overall, while it's not my favorite car, there are definitely some good things about it.

I will not be purchasing another Toyota after driving this vehicle for 8 years. The car's suspension is not up to par, as even small bumps and pieces of gravel can be felt through the steering wheel. Additionally, I experienced an unpleasant incident where I hit a mouse and could feel the impact through the steering wheel. Despite these issues, the car's mileage is satisfactory.

If you plan on driving this car for more than 20-30 minutes at a time, you may experience some discomfort. Last weekend, I drove from Colorado to Kansas and back in a day, and I found it quite tiring. After driving for 5 hours and covering a little over 400 miles, I was limping when I stopped at the gas station. Even 300 miles later, when I got out to walk around, I was still limping from the pain in my foot. When my co-driver took over, she found that after just an hour of driving, her leg and thigh were aching. The foot pedal is small and difficult to keep at the right speed, and there is no cruise control. Additionally, the speed gauge only goes in increments of 10, which can make it difficult to know how fast you are going. It's important to keep your eyes on the road, so this can be a bit unsafe, especially in the city. When we finally arrived back in Colorado, I found it a bit difficult to walk to the front door of our house, and my foot still hurts a little three days later.

I strongly believe that my 2013 Yaris SE does not provide a comfortable ride. The steering wheel is overly sensitive and every bump on the road is felt, making it an unpleasant driving experience. Additionally, I had an unfortunate incident where I hit a mouse and could feel the impact through the steering wheel. As a result, I have decided not to purchase any Toyota products in the future.
