The Toyota Yaris (Japanese: トヨタ・ヤリス, Hepburn: Toyota Yarisu) is a supermini/subcompact car sold by Toyota since 1999, replacing the Starlet and Tercel.
Up to 2019, Toyota had used the Yaris nameplate on export versions of various Japanese-market models, with some markets receiving the same vehicles under the Toyota Echo name through 2005. Starting in 2020, the Yaris nameplate began to be used in Japan, which replaced the Vitz nameplate.

In 2020, Toyota introduced the GR Yaris, which is a three-door performance-oriented variant of the XP210 series Yaris using the Gazoo Racing branding. It is built as a homologation model for the FIA World Rally Championship.
The name "Yaris" is derived from "Charis", the singular form of Charites, the Greek goddesses of charm and beauty. As of March 2020, the Yaris has sold 8.71 million units worldwide.

- Summary: Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain model year 2012-2015 Yaris vehicles manufactured August 31, 2011, to February 9, 2015, and sold or registered in Puerto Rico. The affected vehicles may have been manufactured with a roof headliner that does not provide the proper occupant protection in the event of a crash. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 201, " Occupant Protection in Interior Impact."
- Consequence: If the vehicles are equipped with a headliner that does not meet the impact requirements, there is an increased risk of occupantl injury in the event of a crash.

It's a zippy little car that has plenty of space for a tall person. It's great for the city due to its compact nature. The only flaw is that it doesn't have cruise control. As for maintenance, I've changed all of my fluids in the vehicle to enhance longevity.

I've had this car for a few weeks now and I absolutely love every ride in it. I'm really impressed with its slick performance and stylish design. I wasn't expecting much cargo space for its segment, but I can easily fit my weekly groceries and then some. There's also lots of leg room and the interior design is really convenient. Plus, it's reduced my stops at the gas station! The only thing I think it could use is a center storage and an armrest.

I've had some issues with the engine oil fill level in my Yaris. The oil dipstick is smooth on both sides, and sometimes mechanics overfill my oil when it's changed. I think Toyota should address this issue. I've had to return my Yaris to the mechanic 8 times after checking it when I got home. It's frustrating, but I still love my Yaris. Goodyear, where I routinely get my oil changed, is double-checking the specified quantity of oil, but due to the design of the dipstick, I can't check my oil levels with any degree of certainty between oil changes. I've driven a manual transmission for 35 years, and the clutch in the Yaris is different from any other car I've driven, but I'm still enjoying driving it. Although I wouldn't buy another Yaris because of the clutch and oil dipstick, I'll definitely buy another Toyota. My Yaris remains trouble-free, and the engine runs smoothly and quietly. It's still the finest Toyota I've ever owned, and I continue to get 40.3 to 40.4 MPG. I just spent $800.00 on a new set of Bridgestone tires, and I'm all set for another year of trouble-free driving. This is a great little car despite the oil dipstick design and the odd-acting clutch.

I will not be purchasing another Toyota after driving this vehicle for 8 years. The car's suspension is not up to par, as even small bumps and pieces of gravel can be felt through the steering wheel. Additionally, I experienced an unpleasant incident where I hit a mouse and could feel the impact through the steering wheel. Despite these issues, the car's mileage is satisfactory.

Resting your foot on the L model's dead pedal can be a bit tricky as it tends to get caught under the clutch pedal. This can be quite inconvenient when you anticipate a gear change soon. Additionally, the gear shift feels quite crude and notchy. However, if you opt for the LE model with automatic shift and more creature comforts such as power windows, your drive will be much more enjoyable. In fact, I had an LE model in 2006 which easily survived being T-boned in the driver door by a pickup truck. I only traded it for a VW Rabbit. Even though my 2012 L stick easily yielded 32 mpg in short city drives, I'm still considering trading it for a great Mazda3 iTouring hatch after 5 months.

I've had my 2012 Yaris for almost a year now, and while it has great gas mileage (I average 33.5), I've had some issues with the construction. The front bumper is a bit loose and the rear bumper lacks foam, but overall it's a decent car. The front wheel wells are made of thin plastic, which is not ideal, and the noise level in the cabin can be quite loud at highway speeds. Unfortunately, even the stock stereo can't drown out the noise. One downside is that the steering wheel doesn't telescope, which can make for an uncomfortable seating position. If you're looking for a car with better quality, I would recommend the 9th generation Corolla. It has similar gas mileage and is a great alternative.

I strongly believe that my 2013 Yaris SE does not provide a comfortable ride. The steering wheel is overly sensitive and every bump on the road is felt, making it an unpleasant driving experience. Additionally, I had an unfortunate incident where I hit a mouse and could feel the impact through the steering wheel. As a result, I have decided not to purchase any Toyota products in the future.
