I bought my car back in 2009 when my Yota's engine computer went out on the highway while I was driving at 70+mph. Safety and reliability are very important to me. Although I took a huge loss due to negative equity when I purchased the car and then again when I traded it in for my Galant, I can confidently say that the Galant has been the best vehicle I've ever owned. It was made in my hometown state of IL and I've only had to do some minor maintenance on it and the factory tires are amazing! I've even special ordered the tires three times from my local tire dealer because of how well they held up. They are also cheaper since they're petroleum-based. I purchased my Galant with only six miles on it and now it has nearly 190,000 miles on it. I've thought about trading it in for an SUV for my growing family, but I feel that this car will continue to be reliable and safe for my family for a few more years. I commute to work daily (70 miles) and have taken three 19+ hour trips and have never once felt that it would have any mechanical issues. Although my family feels that it's time to move on to something newer with less miles, I'm sticking to this Galant until it becomes too costly to repair issues. I hope to see 300-400k miles out of it! Overall, I absolutely love my car and it's a 5-star rating for me!

I love this car! It's been in my family for about 8 years (survived 2 undergrad colleges) and we've had very few problems with it. Right now it's at a good 155K mi and it seems like it can't wait to start up in the morning. I figure it's good for another 50K with regular oil changes. It's definitely a great buy- I would highly recommend this car to anyone!

With the 5 speed manual, the car is very responsive. Although it can be a little uncomfortable on long hauls, the cruise control really helps in that aspect. We also had one installed to make the gas pedal more comfortable. For whatever reason, we get water in the trunk when it rains and we are driving, not when it is just sitting, despite the seal being in good shape and adjustments made to the lid. Additionally, the car performs better with higher octane gas, which in turn improves its fuel mileage.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I just wanted to share with you my experience with my Galant, which I bought brand new back in 1997. It's been such a great car, and I've put around 130K miles on it over the years. One of my favorite things about it is the acceleration - it really zips in and out of traffic and is so fun to drive! I will say that when I first got it, it used to jerk a bit when starting out on the road, but I quickly learned how to manage the gas pedal to avoid that. Over the last year or so, I've had to replace a few things here and there, but considering I've had it for 15 years, I really can't complain. Plus, a mechanic friend of mine has been able to do most of the work for me on the cheap, which has been a huge help. Unfortunately, it's time for me to upgrade to an SUV, so I'm having to sell my Galant. It's definitely bittersweet, but I'm excited for what's to come!

This car is amazing! I've had a few cars (5) in the past 3 years, but my Galant was by far the best. It was well-built, incredibly comfortable, and extremely reliable. Plus, it was so much fun to drive! Unfortunately, the transmission eventually gave out and I had to get rid of it. But while I had it, it handled S-turns perfectly and the motor never gave me any trouble, even when I couldn't resist pushing it to 110 mph on the highway.

I have to admit, I fell for the Mitsubishi 0%/0 down/0 payments campaign. In hindsight, I should have waited to get a Honda Accord. The car looks great and has good acceleration when you step on the gas. However, I did have to replace the tires at 35K miles and repair the brake rotors at 50K miles, and now again at 54K. While the materials used are not of the highest quality, the fit and finish are adequate. It's not quite up to Honda's standards, but we all live and learn. Unfortunately, it does depreciate faster than an Olympic sprinter.

I really like the way this car drives, and it's surprisingly strong for a non-turbo 4 cylinder engine. However, it can be quite challenging to repair, so it's important to have a reliable mechanic. Unfortunately, parts can be hard to come by and expensive. My wife purchased this car in 2009, and by 2011, before it even hit 80,000 miles, it needed a head gasket, 2 struts and plates, front axle, and two 02 sensors. Most parts were only available from Mitsubishi, except for the 02 sensors. Luckily, we were able to find a great deal on parts from a local junkyard thanks to my mechanic's expertise. Overall, it's been a bit of a challenge, but we've managed to keep it running smoothly.

I think Mitsubishi did a good job on the rear end of the 09, but it seems like they didn't put as much effort into the front. The Sports Edition that I have has a chrome top to the grill and darkened headlights, which is a nice touch. It's an okay car in terms of gas mileage and comfort, but on a recent trip, I found the seats to be a bit uncomfortable and my backside got sore. I'm not a fan of the waffle-like dash, as it seems to collect dust easily. One thing that I find irritating is that you can't turn off the headlights when the car is idle and you're waiting for someone. Additionally, there isn't an accessory adapter in the console like there was in prior years. Compared to my 08 Camry, the engine is quite noisy and the doors sound a bit tinny. Overall, it's a decent car, but there are definitely some areas for improvement.

This is the second Mitsubishi I have owned. After the first year, there were some minor problems with the interior, such as plastic parts not fitting properly. The internal air filter disintegrated after 5 years of ownership. I have replaced the front brakes twice, the battery twice, and all the tires once. With high mileage, it still works well, although a timing belt may be needed for its next repair. Unfortunately, the tape deck and horn died last year, as well as the interior vanity light and trunk light. However, I love the Homelink system and it has good maneuverability in tight places. It can still get over 80 mph quickly, but it is a bit squishy with one infant seat in the center and another next to it. The car has good visibility with few blind spots and is still a reliable car.

The engine, radiator, crank pulley, exhaust, and tires have all been replaced around 115,000 miles. However, the overdrive is still not functioning properly. Overall, I am confident in the quality of the repairs made, despite the negative experience with the overdrive.
