The gas cap lid and door were checked for proper closure and it was established they had been closed and sealed properly at the time the engine power failure occurred.

Hi there! I've been driving my Galant for about 2 years now and it's been great! I've only had to replace the EGR valve and put on new tires, but other than that, it's been smooth sailing. I bought it with 85,000 miles and now it has just over 93,000 miles, but it still runs like a dream. Even though it's now 17 years old, I'm confident that it will keep going for many more miles!

As the title of this review suggests, consider getting the Galant instead of following the crowd and purchasing an Accord or Camry. Not only is it less expensive, but it's also more enjoyable to drive and has a more attractive appearance. It's remarkable how many people take notice as you drive by. I've owned it for nearly two months, having bought it new, and the only issue I've encountered is the front headlight gasket coming loose on the right side, which was promptly repaired under warranty.

Although my experience with this car has been challenging, I have learned a lot about the importance of reliable transmission. Despite having to replace the transmission three times, I have found that independent mechanics have been able to provide better service than the dealer. While I may not consider purchasing a Mitsubishi again, I am grateful for the lessons I have learned about car maintenance and the importance of finding a reliable mechanic.

After 275K it's time to trade up to the next generation Galant. It has been reliable over long trips and faithful oil changing has been the only maintenance required. The transmission was replaced only once!

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share my experience with my car that I bought in Oct. 2007, just before the winter. I noticed what looked like salt in front of the rear tires, but when spring came and I washed the car, I realized that it was actually paint that was missing. I contacted the dealership and they submitted photos to Mitsubishi. Unfortunately, they said that it was due to 'road wear' and wouldn't repaint my car, even though it was only 6 months old. I was disappointed, but I'm hopeful that we can find a solution. I've filed a complaint with the review board, but I haven't heard back yet. Interestingly, I've noticed the same issue on other Galants in parking lots. It's frustrating, but I'm staying positive. Thanks for listening!

Good handling, but if I were to sell it, I would definitely consider buying one of the other Japanese cars like Toyota, Honda or Nissan as their automatic transmission and motor are known to be more reliable.

Hey there! If you own a Mitsubishi Galant (2003 for me), I wanted to share some information with you. I recently had an experience with my 3.0 V6 model with 4-speed automatic transmission, and I learned that there is a flaw in the design where a 'clip' deep inside the transmission can break. I took my car to an excellent transmission shop, and they told me all about it before even opening it up. They even showed me the broken pieces, which can end up in the pump and cause your transmission to fail, requiring a rebuild. One of the main symptoms is that it won't go into any gear, and sometimes you can hear rattling as you run it. If you need to rebuild your transmission, make sure to get a newer kit. Hope this helps!
