1995 Mitsubishi Galant recalls
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued 6 recalls for different components of the 1995 Mitsubishi Galant.
- Manufacturer: AIRTEX PRODUCTS
- Components: FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:FUEL PUMP
- Summary: CERTAIN AIRTEX FUEL PUMP MODULE ASSEMBLIES, P/N E7081H, SOLD FOR USE AS REPLACEMENT EQUIPMENT FOR THE VEHICLES LISTED ABOVE. THE WALL OF THE FLARED FITTING OF THE FUEL PUMP IS NOT THICK ENOUGH TO PREVENT THE MATING THREADED FITTINGS FROM BOTTOMING OUT BEFORE AN ADEQUATE SEAL IS ACHIEVED. THIS CONDITION MAY RESULT IN LEAKAGE OF FUEL AT THE CONNECTION OF THE VEHICLE FUEL LINE AND THE FUEL PUMP MODULE ASSEMBLY.
- Consequence: IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE, A FUEL LEAK COULD RESULT IN A FIRE.
- Remedy: AIRTEX WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND REPLACE THE FUEL PUMPS FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING JULY 2007. OWNERS CAN CONTACT AIRTEX AUTOMOTIVE AT 800-880-3056.

- Consequence: THIS CONDITION COULD CAUSE THE LOWER LATERAL ARM BALL JOINT TO SEPARATE, INCREASING THE RISK OF A VEHICLE CRASH. THIS CAMPAIGN SUPERCEDES MMC'S PREVIOUS SAFETY RECALL CAMPAIGN, SEE 99V-066.
- Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE LOWER LATERAL ARM BALL JOINT FOR WEAR. BALL JOINTS THAT EXHIBIT WEAR BEYOND THE ESTABLISHED TOLERANCE WILL BE REPLACED WITH NEWLY DESIGNED LATERAL ARM BALL JOINTS. BALL JOINTS THAT ARE WITHIN THE ESTABLISHED TOLERANCE WILL BE CLEANED AND A SPECIAL SEALANT WILL BE APPLIED TO PREVENT INTRUSION OF MOISTURE.

- Consequence: THIS CONDITION CAN CAUSE THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM (ABS) WARNING LIGHT TO COME ON.
- Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSTALL A RELAY AND REPLACE THE BRAKE LAMP SWITCH.

I've had this car for many years now and it hasn't failed me once. If you come across one, hold onto it. I have a second new car (not a Galant, nor Mitsubishi), but I still keep the Galant just in case the new one fails.
-
Hi there! I wanted to share my experience with my first car, a 95' Galant. After looking into many other cars, I finally test drove the Galant and fell in love with it! Despite having only 141 horses and a 4 cylinder, the car is incredibly powerful, especially when mated to the 5-speed manual. I've had a few minor issues, such as my alternator freezing due to leaving the car sitting in the cold winter snow for 3 months without running it. However, overall the car has been extremely reliable and I'm even considering selling it to a potential buyer. Thanks for listening!

Hi there! I just wanted to share my experience with my first car, which I bought back in November 2002. I have to say, it's been amazing to me! Despite what some people might say about Mitsus being unreliable, I haven't had any major issues with it. In fact, the engine sounds smoother than most newer cars! The only minor problem I had was when the alternator froze over, but that was my fault for leaving the car sitting in the cold for over 2 and a half months. Overall, I'm really happy with my purchase!
-
I love this car! It's been in my family for about 8 years (survived 2 undergrad colleges) and we've had very few problems with it. Right now it's at a good 155K mi and it seems like it can't wait to start up in the morning. I figure it's good for another 50K with regular oil changes. It's definitely a good buy- I would highly recommend this car to anyone!

I purchased my car used with 46k miles and it has proven to be very reliable. It is worth noting that the recommended timing belt change can be a bit pricey at $450 per service. However, I did experience an issue with blue smoke coming from the tailpipe around 96k miles. After consulting with the dealership, I was informed that it was a valve issue and would cost $3000 to repair. A friend mentioned that this is a common problem with late model Mitsubishi vehicles. On my way home, I took notice of other late models and noticed that they also had smoke coming from the tailpipe.

Every month I am amazed by my car's reliability. Despite having driven 170,000 miles, it is still going strong, with very little maintenance required. The only repairs it needed were some regular maintenance and a minor engine repair 18 months ago, which only cost me 770.00. I am truly impressed by how reliable it has been.
Jedediah Gibson 2024-11-11
Good handling, but if I were to sell it, I would definitely consider buying one of the other Japanese cars like Toyota, Honda or Nissan as their automatic transmission and motor are known to be more reliable.
Garfield Conn 2024-10-24
This car was exactly what I was looking for when I bought it - a business suit grey with 60k miles. Despite being in a head-on collision at around 20mph (with each of us doing around 10mph), the car held up well. Although the airbags did not deploy, the car remained intact. Unfortunately, after the accident, the car began to experience some issues. The clock/radio stopped working, and the lights were not functioning properly. Additionally, the engine light would come on and smoke at stop lights, and the transmission started to slip about twice a month. The exhaust broke with no warning, and the power window switch bundle on the driver's door caught fire when I used the auto-down feature. Despite these issues, I am confident that this car has the potential to be a reliable vehicle with proper maintenance and care.

Hi there! When I first got my car, I had to wait for a month to get it because it was getting the transmission replaced. At that time, it had 47,000 miles on it. Unfortunately, I've had some trouble with it recently. After 3 months and 6 transmissions later, I've decided to give up on it. I'm only getting $750 back for my rebuilt transmission, and my car won't be worth much without a transmission. Since 1994, my car has had a total of 10 transmissions in the 6 years I've had it.

The Galant 8000 broke down and required a new water pump while I was in another state, costing me $1500. When it broke down again in my state, I had to spend $1600 to fix the wheel bearings and other issues. I ended up trading it in within a year of ownership, which added $8000 to my new car loan. Despite the challenges, I learned a lot from this experience.
