Common 2008 Mitsubishi Galant problems
The Mitsubishi Galant 2008 has several common problems that owners have reported. One of the most common issues is related to the engine, specifically the timing belt drive. The 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine and the 3.8-liter V6 engine both have a timing belt drive with a replacement interval of 60,000 kilometers
. Problems with the timing belt can arise solely through the fault of the owner, particularly due to untimely maintenance. For instance, after every 100,000 kilometers, it is necessary to adjust the valve clearance, which is carried out with the help of adjusting screws
. After 150 to 200,000 kilometers, oil may appear in the candle wells, and the valve stem seals can suffocate, contributing to an increase in oil consumption
Another common problem with the Mitsubishi Galant 2008 is related to the automatic transmission. The 2008 model began to be equipped with a 5-speed automatic transmission, which provides the possibility of manual gear selection
. However, after a hundred thousand kilometers, owners often notice the appearance of small shocks, and the drive seals may need to be replaced
. The automatic transmission does not like long slips, and after such exercises, the Gallant is often sent to the service due to problems with the Box
The soft suspension of the Mitsubishi Galant 2008 absorbs most road bumps, but after 100 to 150,000 kilometers, replacement of wheel bearings is often required
. After 150 to 200,000 kilometers, the power steering pump may buzz, and repair is usually not worth it. A much more reliable option is replacement of the steering rack
The body of the Mitsubishi Galant 2008 is not prone to corrosion, but during the inspection, special attention should be paid to the inside of the doors, the hood, and the thresholds, as red spots may be found there
. Sometimes, after a hundred to a hundred fifty thousand kilometers, there are problems with the air conditioning compressor, which starts to make noise or howl
. The reason may be both in the connection coupling and in the compressor itself, and often, a problem node can be repaired, which is much cheaper if you know how to do it
Overall, the Mitsubishi Galant 2008 is a reliable car, but like any vehicle, it has its common problems, particularly related to the engine, automatic transmission, suspension, and body. Regular maintenance and timely repairs can help ensure the longevity and reliability of this car.
Is Mitsubishi Galant 2008 a good car?
On the road, the 2008 Mitsubishi Galant is one of the more fun-to-drive family sedans. The Ralliart's V6 delivers plenty of torque for passing and merging on the highway. Pushed around curves, the Galant maintains a flat, predictable stance and feels smaller than it is.
Is the Mitsubishi Galant a good car?
The car handles securely, but its brakes are unimpressive. Redesigned for 1999, the Galant offers an improved automatic transmission and a strong 3.0-liter V6. It has a comfortable, quiet ride and reasonably agile handling.
Are Mitsubishi Galant expensive to repair?
The average total annual cost for repairs and maintenance on a Mitsubishi Galant is $448, compared to an average of $526 for midsize cars and $652 for all vehicle models.

I recently purchased my '08 Galant with 30k miles and have now put 2k on it. I'm really impressed with how well it rides and handles, and it's surprisingly quiet! I drive 20k miles per year, mostly commuting to work and 95% highway. I'm hoping it will last as long as my '02 Explorer, which gave me 152k trouble-free miles. I'm confident that Mitsu's build quality will deliver and I'm looking forward to driving this car for 150k+ miles! I'm curious to see how it handles in the snow though!

I hope you're doing well! I just wanted to share my experience with my first Mitsubishi. I absolutely love the way it rides and handles. The 160 HP 4-cylinder engine is very peppy, and I'm getting about 22-23 MPG in mostly city driving, which is great for me. The interior is very roomy, and the back seat has a lot of leg room. I also appreciate the air bags everywhere and the 5-star front and side impact rating from the government. Overall, I highly recommend giving it a try - I think you'll really enjoy it!

After carefully evaluating the competition, I confidently decided that the Mitsubishi was the best choice due to its fair pricing and high quality. I purchased a base model and had leather seats installed, which only added to the already impressive features of the car. The Mitsubishi is a sporty yet practical family sedan that provides a comfortable and quiet ride, while also achieving an average of 27 mpg. Although I experienced a minor issue with a couple of trim retainers, it did not affect my overall satisfaction with the car.

I hope you're doing well! I just wanted to share my experience with my car. I purchased it back in early 2009 and although the dealer said it was only one owner, I didn't check anything officially like Carfax. However, I'm happy to report that I've had no problems with it so far and it's been a joy to ride. The handling is excellent and I love the exterior look of the SE compared to other Galant models. The upgraded audio system also sounds fantastic. This is my first Galant and the third in my family, and I truly believe that nothing else can beat the value of this car. Thanks for taking the time to read my thoughts!

I came across a negative review about the glare of the interior and the blind spots in the rear flanks, and how it is difficult to park. However, I must say that I completely disagree! I am absolutely in love with this car, and I never thought I would ever write a positive review for a car in my life. The Galant has driven me to it (no pun intended)! Although there are blind spots in the back (which is common in most vehicles), I have not experienced any issues with glare. The u-turns are a little wider than say a Toyota Corolla (a car I currently still have), but not at all difficult for parking (unless you don't know how to park). I highly recommend this car!

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share my experience with my car that I bought in Oct. 2007, just before the winter. I noticed what looked like salt in front of the rear tires, but when spring came and I washed the car, I realized that it was actually paint that was missing. I contacted the dealership and they submitted photos to Mitsubishi. Unfortunately, they said that it was due to 'road wear' and wouldn't repaint my car, even though it was only 6 months old. I was disappointed, but I'm hopeful that we can find a solution. I've filed a complaint with the review board, but I haven't heard back yet. Interestingly, I've noticed the same issue on other Galants in parking lots. It's frustrating, but I'm staying positive. Thanks for listening!

I was wondering if the positive consumer reviews for this car were posted by Mitsubishi dealers themselves. However, I must say that I found the car difficult to park due to its width and blind spots. Additionally, some important controls are not illuminated at night, and the front windshield reflects the chrome accents from the dashboard, causing glare. Nevertheless, the car has a spacious rear seating area. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this car, but I appreciate the opportunity to share my thoughts.
