2006 Mitsubishi Galant recalls
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued 1 recalls for different components of the 2006 Mitsubishi Galant.
- Manufacturer: MITSUBISHI MOTORS NORTH AMERICA, INC.
- Components: FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY
- Summary: MITSUBISHI IS RECALLING 45,988 MY 2005-2007 ENDEAVOR, GALANT, ECLIPSE COUPE, AND MY 2007 ECLIPSE SPYDER VEHICLES. THE BRACKET THAT IS THE ATTACHMENT POINT FOR THE LEFT REAR FUEL TANK MOUNTING STRAP MAY HAVE BEEN IMPROPERLY FORMED DURING A METAL STAMPING PROCESS. THE PROCESS MAY HAVE CAUSED THE METAL TO HAVE A SPLIT IN THE AREA WHERE THE BOLT THAT HOLDS ONE OF THE TWO FUEL TANK STRAPS TO THE UNDERSIDE OF THE VEHICLE IS LOCATED. IN THE EVENT THE FUEL TANK IS FULL AND THE VEHICLE IS SUBJECT TO A SEVERE COLLISION, THE BRACKET MAY BREAK AND ALLOW THE FUEL TANK TO DROP DOWN, POSSIBLY CAUSING A FUEL LEAK.
- Consequence: FUEL LEAKAGE IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE COULD RESULT IN A FIRE.
- Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT TO SEE IF THE LEFT REAR FUEL TANK STRAP MOUNTING BRACKET HAS SPLITTING BEYOND A SPECIFIC LIMIT. VEHICLES WITH MODERATE TO SEVERE SPLITTING WILL BE REPAIRED USING A REINFORCEMENT CAP, A SPECIAL STRUCTURAL ADHESIVE, AND A RIVET TO REINFORCE THE FUEL TANK MOUNTING BRACKET. THE RECALL BEGAN ON SEPTEMBER 20, 2008. OWNERS MAY CONTACT MITSUBISHI AT 1-800-222-0037.

This is my fourth Galant and this is the best of them all. I'm glad to hear that you like the interior with the information center. The exterior is very nice as well, and I agree that the tail lights are a great feature.

I'm 19 and I just bought an '06 Galant SE 2.4 160hp for $1500! It has 180,000 miles on it and it's still a beast! There's plenty of room, it's stylish, and it feels great to drive a car that you don't see a lot of other people driving. An older lady drove it before me, and before her, a college student. They took very good care of the car, and it seems like they drove it really carefully. The transmission feels like it's brand new!
-
I bought a 2006 Black Mitsubishi Galant ES in January. Although it was a nice car, it felt like it was missing something. Then, just a month later, Mitsubishi released the 2006 Special Edition Galant - a stunning car that had everything I was looking for in a Galant: style, substance, and leather seats. It was the car I was meant to have, so I went for it. I absolutely love every minute of driving it!
-
I stumbled upon the Galant while passing a dealer and decided to take it for a test drive. The car felt incredibly comfortable and I was pleased with its style and size - it was just right for me. I am very happy with my purchase so far. In my opinion, it outperforms the Honda Accord I test drove in terms of handling and comfort. I have not experienced any issues with glare from the metal plate near the radio, despite hearing some negative feedback about it. The only thing I would suggest is adding a lighted shift console. Overall, I have no complaints at this point!
-
After thoroughly examining several cars, I ultimately chose the Galant over the Honda Civic LX sedan. The Galant's superior exterior design, solid road performance, impressive acceleration, and excellent warranty made it the clear choice for me. Despite a minor issue with the glove box not closing flush on one side, which the service manager claims is normal, I am confident that the dealership will resolve the issue to my satisfaction. While the silver console does reflect in the windshield, it does not pose a significant distraction. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with my $20,000 investment in this car.

The Mitsubishi Galant may require replacement parts for common issues such as the Exhaust Manifold, Radiator Sensors, the Radiator itself, Water Pump, among others. These parts can be expensive, but it is important to invest in quality replacements. Mitsubishi is a reputable brand with its own unique strengths and areas for improvement.
