Common 2004 Mitsubishi Galant problems
The 2004 Mitsubishi Galant has been reported to have several common problems based on complaints from owners of this car. These problems include issues with the O2 sensors, paint, transmission, engine, radiator, battery cables, and speakers.
One of the most common problems with the 2004 Mitsubishi Galant is the issue with the O2 sensors. Several owners have reported that their cars have had issues with the O2 sensors, which can cause problems with the car's emissions and fuel efficiency. The O2 sensors are responsible for measuring the amount of oxygen in the car's exhaust, which is used to adjust the fuel-air mixture in the engine. If the O2 sensors are not working properly, the car's engine may not run as efficiently as it should, which can lead to increased fuel consumption and higher emissions.
Another common problem with the 2004 Mitsubishi Galant is the paint. Several owners have reported that the car's paint can fade or peel over time, which can be a cosmetic issue. The paint on the car's exterior is subjected to a lot of wear and tear, including exposure to sunlight, rain, and other environmental factors. Over time, this can cause the paint to fade or peel, which can be unsightly and affect the car's appearance.
The 2004 Mitsubishi Galant has also been reported to have issues with the transmission. Several owners have reported that their cars have had problems with the transmission, which can affect the car's performance and drivability. The transmission is responsible for transmitting power from the engine to the wheels, and if it is not working properly, the car may not be able to shift gears smoothly or may have difficulty accelerating. In some cases, the transmission may need to be replaced, which can be a costly repair.
The engine in the 2004 Mitsubishi Galant has also been reported to have issues. Several owners have reported that their cars have had problems with the engine, which can affect the car's performance and reliability. The engine is responsible for generating power for the car, and if it is not working properly, the car may not be able to perform as well as it should. In some cases, the engine may need to be replaced, which can be a costly repair.
The 2004 Mitsubishi Galant has also been reported to have issues with the radiator. Several owners have reported that their cars have had problems with the radiator, which can affect the car's cooling system. The radiator is responsible for cooling the engine, and if it is not working properly, the engine may overheat, which can cause damage to the engine and other components. In some cases, the radiator may need to be replaced, which can be a costly repair.
The battery cables in the 2004 Mitsubishi Galant have also been reported to have issues. Several owners have reported that their cars have had problems with the battery cables, which can affect the car's electrical system. The battery cables are responsible for transmitting power from the battery to the car's electrical system, and if they are not working properly, the car may not start or may have difficulty operating. In some cases, the battery cables may need to be replaced, which can be a costly repair.
The speakers in the 2004 Mitsubishi Galant have also been reported to have issues. Several owners have reported that their cars have had problems with the speakers, which can affect the car's audio system. The speakers are responsible for producing sound, and if they are not working properly, the car's audio system may not function as well as it should. In some cases, the speakers may need to be replaced, which can be a costly repair.
In conclusion, the 2004 Mitsubishi Galant has several common problems based on complaints from owners of this car. These problems include issues with the O2 sensors, paint, transmission, engine, radiator, battery cables, and speakers. While some of these problems can be minor and easily fixed, others can be more serious and require costly repairs. It is important for owners of the 2004 Mitsubishi Galant to be aware of these common problems and to take steps to address them as soon as possible to ensure the safe and reliable operation of their cars.

This car is faster and more powerful than the 99 Galant. It's a shame that not all models have the fog lights and woodgrain dash that I love, but the GTS has them. Although I'll miss the Barcelona Red, which is my favorite color, overall this is an outstanding remake and it's really fun to drive.

This is a fantastic car! As a previous owner of a Mitsubishi Galant, I can confidently say that this one surpasses the previous generation. The V6 engine provides impressive acceleration and the handling is excellent for a sedan. I was fortunate to get a great deal at Capital City Mitsubishi and I'm proud to be the first person in my town to own a 2004 Galant.

There is no other vehicle in this price range that can compare. The 10-year/100,000-mile warranty is simply amazing. We are extremely happy with our purchase as the car is solid and a pleasure to drive.

I'm so glad to hear that you're enjoying the new look of the Galant online! It's great to hear that you found the interior to be much roomier than your previous 2000 Galant, and that you're impressed with the styling both inside and out. I'm also happy to hear that the gauges are easy to read through the steering wheel, and that the trunk is spacious with a passthru area for longer items. Although you were initially apprehensive about the 4 cylinder, it sounds like it has plenty of passing power on the interstate. While the ride may be a bit stiff and sporty, I'm sure it will soften up over time, just like your 2000 Galant did. Overall, it's wonderful to hear that you're so impressed and happy with your new car!

Before becoming a full-time biker, I owned many cars. Right before my travels took me overseas, I bought the 2003 Galant for my wife. I must say, this car makes me want to get behind the wheel again. In my opinion, its styling is superb. It's a blast to drive, and even though I bought the basic DE model, I'm surprised by the comfort package that comes standard with the Galants. With big 16

I really like the way this car drives, and it's surprisingly strong for a non-turbo 4 cylinder engine. However, it can be quite challenging to repair, so it's important to have a reliable mechanic. Unfortunately, parts can be hard to come by and expensive. My wife purchased this car in 2009, and by 2011, before it even hit 80,000 miles, it needed a head gasket, 2 struts and plates, front axle, and two 02 sensors. Most parts were only available from Mitsubishi, except for the 02 sensors. Luckily, we were able to find a great deal on parts from a local junkyard thanks to my mechanic's expertise. Overall, it's been a bit of a challenge, but we've managed to keep it running smoothly.

I purchased my Galant brand new in 2004. Although I have had some issues with it, I have been able to manage them. Within the first 6 months, my horn stopped working which was a bit concerning, but I was able to get it fixed. I also had some trouble with my brakes, but after some repairs and switching to ceramic brake pads, the issue was resolved. I have had some trouble with my headlights going out, but overall, I have been able to keep the car running. While I have been disappointed with some aspects of the car, I am still trying to make the most of it until it is time to move on.
Demarcus Oberbrunner 2024-06-26
Although there have been some disappointments, such as poor mileage of 21 mpg city and 26-28 mpg highway, even after using a K&N filter and Mobil 1 oil, and requiring 89+ gas, there are some positives to note. The vehicle provides ample room for four adults and the dashboard is great at night. However, the ride can be choppy with little give in the rear end, and the brakes stopped working in freezing temperatures, requiring a master cylinder replacement. Overall, the vehicle has its drawbacks but also has some notable features.
