Common 2011 Mitsubishi Galant problems
The Mitsubishi Galant 2011 is known for several common problems based on complaints from owners. One of the most prevalent issues is transmission problems, particularly with the four-speed automatic transmission (F4A4B) used in the 2011 Galant
. This transmission has been reported to slip gears, especially in reverse, which can be dangerous and requires replacing the rear housing and reverse clutch assembly to fix.
Another common problem is ball joint failure, which results in a knocking noise from the suspension when driving over bumps or rough surfaces. Replacing the ball joint is the recommended solution to resolve this issue.
Oil leaks are also a common problem in the Mitsubishi Galant 2011, often caused by a failed driveshaft seal. If oil is leaking onto the floor, it's likely coming from the back of the engine, and replacing the driveshaft seal should rectify the situation.
The engine management warning light frequently appears due to a faulty engine sensor, particularly the crankshaft position sensor. Fitting a replacement crankshaft position sensor is necessary to resolve the problem.
The throttle body can become clogged, leading to a lack of power at higher speeds, unresponsive acceleration, and engine misfiring. Cleaning out the throttle body with carb cleaner is the recommended solution to address this issue.
In addition to these mechanical issues, the Mitsubishi Galant 2011 has been criticized for its interior design and materials. The silver-painted control stacks, which were once considered fashionable, now appear outdated and can be difficult to read. The quality of the materials has also become subpar, with most plastics and surfaces not matching the refined look and feel of more desirable competitors. The lack of a telescoping steering wheel is another notable drawback, making it challenging for some drivers to find a comfortable driving position.
The passenger package is relatively roomy, and the seats are softly cushioned, but the trunk offers less capacity than many competitors, and the rear seat does not fold down to permit cargo volume to be enlarged.
Overall, the Mitsubishi Galant 2011 has several common problems, including transmission issues, ball joint failure, oil leaks, engine management warning light, and throttle body clogging. The interior design and materials have also been criticized, making it less desirable compared to more modern and refined competitors.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I noticed that you needed a car for work to commute into the city, and I'm glad to hear that you found a great option in a used Mitsubishi Galant from a local dealer. It sounds like you have a lot of experience with Mitsubishi cars, and this one seems to be no exception. I'm happy to hear that you're enjoying the heated and comfortable seats, and that the car stands out on the street. It's always nice to have a unique ride! Thanks for sharing your positive experience with us.

This is my first Mitsu and I've been driving it for about 2 months now in both city and highway conditions during summer weather. I'm getting about 25 MPG on 91 octane gas, which I think is great considering the elements. The car feels sturdy and the 2.4 MIVEC engine picks up well on sportronic mode. The interior is roomy and the front and back seats are comfortable. The controls are well laid out for easy access on the go. It comes with high performance all-season tires which come in handy on the east coast during changing seasons. Overall, this car is a great buy! It's comfortable, reliable, spacious, and sporty - a fun vehicle to drive. I would definitely recommend this vehicle to a small to mid-size family looking for a 4-door sedan.

I completely agree with Edmunds when it comes to comparing this car to others in the 24K range. However, let's put things into perspective. Mitsubishi is offering these cars for a price similar to a well-equipped Civic! I was able to purchase the SE model for 18K. For the money, I know that I got a reliable, fun-to-drive, and good-looking car. The warranty is unbeatable. Although I do wish the gas mileage was a little better, it's not terrible.

Your previous car was a 2000 Galant, which your niece still drives. The 2.4 motor is a great balance of power and economy, with 168 hp, and the mileage is decent for a midsize car, averaging about 26. While the interior may not be as nice as a Honda or Toyota, the car is incredibly reliable. It has many features for the price, and handles really well. Although the ride can be a bit choppy on bumpy roads, it is still the most comfortable midsize car for up to 5 passengers, with better interior room than its competitors. Additionally, the price can be much lower than that of a used Honda or Toyota. It's worth noting that the model was discontinued in 2012.

Your 2009 Mitsubishi Galant sounds like a great car! It's wonderful to hear that you've been enjoying it for over a month now with no complaints. Although it may be a new experience compared to your previous 1986 Lincoln town car, it's great to hear that you're enjoying the pick-up and handling. The rear window defogger and defrost seem to work well, and the air-conditioning sounds like it's doing a great job of keeping you cool. The stereo system also sounds like a nice addition to the car. Overall, it's great to hear that you're happy with your purchase and wouldn't trade it. Thank you for sharing your positive experience with us!

I purchased the base version of this car and while it had some flaws, it was still a decent drive for the price. Unfortunately, I did experience some issues with the transmission and discovered that a wire had been chewed by a squirrel. It was frustrating to deal with, but the dealership was able to fix it after a couple of days. I did have some trouble with blind spots and the trunk did make a bit of noise when closing, but overall it was an okay car. The only thing that really bothered me was the squealing noise when reversing after starting the car, which the dealership said was a common issue with Gallants. I eventually decided to trade it in, but I still appreciated the value it provided.

I think Mitsubishi did a good job on the rear end of the 09, but it seems like they didn't put as much effort into the front. The Sports Edition that I have has a chrome top to the grill and darkened headlights, which is a nice touch. It's an okay car in terms of gas mileage and comfort, but on a recent trip, I found the seats to be a bit uncomfortable and my backside got sore. I'm not a fan of the waffle-like dash because it seems to attract dust easily. One thing that I find irritating is that you can't turn off the headlights when the car is idle and you're waiting for someone. Additionally, there isn't an accessory adapter in the console like there was in prior years. The engine is quite noisy compared to my 08 Camry, and the doors sound a bit tinny in comparison as well.

This is my first Galant, and I must say, it's a great car! It's really fun to drive, and the trunk space is fantastic. Plus, the rear seats have so much room!
