Mitsubishi Mighty max 1986
- Date Of Incident: 1988-03-01
- Date Complaint: 2013-02-17
- VIN: JA7FP24D5GP
- Components: ENGINE
- Summary: THIS ENGINE (1983-1986 - 1997CU.IN./2.0L SOHC L4 G63B) PRODUCED BY MITSUBISHI CORPORATION WAS FITTED WITH EXHAUST MANIFOLDS CREATED WITH INFERIOR MATERIALS. THESE MATERIALS WERE USED TO CREATE THE EXHAUST MANIFOLDS FOR THESE MOTORS UNDER NORMAL USE, DEVELOP CRACKS. THE CRACKS WOULD EMIT HIGH TEMPERATURE CARBON MONOXIDE (CO) EXHAUST FUMES INTO THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT, AND THE DRIVER & PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. THE RECALL FOR REPLACEMENT OF THESE DEFECTIVE LIFE THREATENING PARTS WERE REPLACED BY THE MITSUBISHI CORPORATION WITH THE EXACT SAME INFERIOR MATERIAL DESIGN PARTS AND DEVELOPED THE SAME ISSUES AS THE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT. THESE EXHAUST MANIFOLDS WERE PLACED ON RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE OF CO INHALATION AND FIRE DANGER TO THE PASSENGERS, BUT WERE REMOVED FROM THE GOVERNMENT RECALL LIST FOR UNKNOWN REASONS. BE IT A STATUE OF LIMITATIONS OR FULFILLMENT, THE PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN SOLVED CORRECTLY AND REOCCURS QUICKLY. I HAVE TRIED TO CONTACT MITSUBISHI CORPORATION ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND THOUGH I UNDERSTAND THE VEHICLE IS NOT NEW, THEY CONSIDERED IT A JOKE THAT I HAVE ASKED FOR THE REPAIR OF THIS ITEM THAT THEY WERE REQUIRED TO REPLACE IN THE PAST FOR THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. THESE VEHICLES STILL HAVE ANOTHER RECALL FOR SEATBELTS THAT ARE LISTED, BUT THE MANIFOLDS HAVE BEEN MYSTERIOUSLY REMOVED FROM THE LIST. ITEMS THAT ARE REPLACED BECAUSE OF DANGEROUS CONDITIONS TO OCCUPANTS IN A VEHICLE, THEN REPLACED WITH THE SAME DEFECTIVE MATERIAL DESIGN NEEDS MORE INVESTIGATION BY GOVERNMENT RECALL INVESTIGATORS OF AUTOMOBILES. THE MITSUBISHI CORPORATION IS RESPONSIBLE FOR NEGLIGENCE AND INSTALLATION OF DEFECTIVE AUTOMOBILE PARTS THAT ARE DANGEROUS TO ALL PASSENGERS RIDING IN THESE VEHICLES WITH THE PARTICULAR ENGINES INSTALLED. CARBON MONOXIDE IS COLORLESS, ODORLESS, TASTELESS GAS THAT IS SLIGHTLY LIGHTER THAN AIR. IT IS TOXIC TO HUMANS AND ANIMALS ENCOUNTERED.

- Date Of Incident: 2000-08-01
- Date Complaint: 2002-03-04
- VIN: JA7FL24W3NP
- Components: ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING
- Summary: THIS PART HAS BROKEN PROBABLY MORE THAN SIX TIMES. THE FIRST COUPLE OF TIMES, THE TRUCK WAS TOWED TO A MECHANIC RATHER THAN THE DEALER, THINKING THAT THIS WAS JUST A SMALL PROBLEM. AFTER TWO VISITS TO THE SAME MECHANIC, THE TRUCK WAS THEN TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE FIRST TIME AT THE DEALER (DOBBS BROS. MITSUBISHI-MEMPHIS), I WAS TOLD THAT THE BALANCE SHAFT WAS OUT OF BALANCE. $715.78 LATER (THIS PART IS NOW UNDER A ONE YEAR/12,000 MILE WARRANTY), THE SHAFT FORK BREAKS AGAIN. THIS TIME, I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS A PART FAILURE. 4000 MILES LATER, IT BREAKS AGAIN. THE TRUCK WAS AT THE SERVICE SHOP FOR MORE THAN A WEEK WHILE THEY WERE 'CHECKING OUT WHAT COULD MAKE THIS PIECE KEEP BREAKING'. AFTER A THOROUGH CHECK (INCL. THE MANUAL TRANSMISSION) AND STILL WARRANTEED, IT IS FIXED. ABOUT 4000 MILES LATER, IT BREAKS AGAIN. THIS TIME, I'M TOLD BY THE SERVICE MANAGER THAT 'BECAUSE OF THE MULTIPLE BREAKS THAT SHE COULD NOT WARRANTY THIS PART ANYMORE.' I TOLD HER THAT THE PART CONTINUES TO BREAK WHILE I'M DRIVING. SHE STATED" YOU MUST BE TOWING SOMETHING TOO HEAVY OR SOMETHING." (THE TRUCK HAS NO BUMPER ACCESSORY). SHE DID OFFER TO PERFORM ANOTHER THOROUGH CHECK OF THE VEHICLE (FOR ABOUT $1100) STATING THAT "I JUST CAN'T KEEP FIXING A PART THAT'S BREAKING LIKE THIS" I WOULD LIKE AN INVESTIGATION INTO THIS BECAUSE THIS PART IS FAULTY AND CAN CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY WHEN IT BREAKS WHILE DRIVING. A PERSON COULD LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE.*AK
