The fuel system issues can be caused by faulty fuel pumps, leaking fuel injectors, or issues with the fuel pressure regulator.

Another common problem is with the transmission, which has been the subject of 5 recalls. The transmission issues can cause the car to shift roughly, slip out of gear, or have difficulty shifting. These problems can be caused by faulty transmission solenoids, worn clutch plates, or issues with the torque converter.

The airbags have also been a common problem area for the Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder, with 5 recalls issued. These problems can be caused by faulty suspension components, worn out bushings, or issues with the steering linkage.

The equipment has been the subject of 6 recalls for the Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder. Equipment problems can cause the car to have difficulty starting or cause the car to have electrical issues. These problems can be caused by faulty wiring, issues with the battery, or problems with the alternator.

In addition to these common problems, some owners have reported issues with the sunroof, which can become stuck closed or have difficulty moving. Others have reported issues with the manual transmission, which can have difficulty shifting or cause a rattle noise.

The Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder has also been known to have issues with the engine, which can cause the car to have difficulty starting or cause the car to run poorly. These problems can be caused by faulty spark plugs, issues with the ignition system, or problems with the fuel system.

In conclusion, the Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder has had several common problems reported by owners, including issues with the fuel system, transmission, airbags, brakes, suspension, equipment, and engine. • Date Of Incident: 2008-05-19
  • Date Complaint: 2008-05-28
  • Components: TIRES,EQUIPMENT
  • Summary: ON 5/19/08, ANOTHER EMPLOYEE INFORMED ME THAT MY REAR DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE WAS FLAT IN OUR COMPANY PARKING LOT. I AM A MEMBER OF AARP MOTORING PLAN AND CALLED TO HAVE THE FLAT CHANGED. A COMPANY CALLED ROADRUNNER ROAD SERVICE WAS DISPATCHED. THE EMPLOYEE, RAHEEM, FROM ROADRUNNER ROAD SERVICE TOLD ME THAT FOR AN ADDITION $20, HE COULD PLUG THE TIRE, REINFLATE IT AND PUT IT BACK ON THE CAR. I WENT BACK INTO MY PLANT TO GET THE ADDITION MONEY TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR AND DID NOT SEE HIM PLACE THE TIRE BACK ON THE CAR. EVERYTHING APPEARED FINE WITH THE TIRE WHEN I PAID HIM THE ADDITION MONIES. WHEN I LEFT AT THE END OF THE DAY, APPROX. 3 HOURS LATER, THE TIRE WAS STILL INFLATED AND APPEARED NORMAL. AS I WAS DRIVING A SHORT DISTANCE THE TIRE WAS MAKING A HORRIBLE SOUND. IT SOUNDED LIKE IT WAS FLAT AGAIN. I PULLED OVER BUT THE TIRE STILL LOOKED INFLATED AND NORMAL. I THOUGHT THAT THE PLUG JUST NEEDED TO BE DRIVEN ON. IT CONTINUED TO MAKE THE HORRIBLE NOISE AND SHAKING SO I TOOK MY CAR TO FIRESTONE. ONE OF THE MECHANICS TOOK IT FOR A TEST DRIVE AND STOPPED IMMEDIATELY. HE GOT MY TIRE IRON OUT OF MY TRUCK AND TIGHTENED THE LUG NUTS. HE STATED THAT THE PERSON WHO PUT MY TIRE BACK ONTO THE CAR FORGOT TO TIGHTEN THE LUG NUTS AND THE TIRE WAS READY TO FALL OFF. HE ALSO STATED I WAS LUCKY THAT I DID NOT HAVE AN ACCIDENT. I CALLED ROADRUNNER ROAD SERVICE, 918-443-2054 OR 215-949-9727, IMMEDIATELY THE NEXT DAY, 5/20/08, AND SPOKE TO A KIM. SHE TOOK MY COMPLAINT AND TOLD ME HER MANAGER WOULD CALL ME BACK IMMEDIATELY. I HAVE CALLED 6 TIMES IN THE LAST 8 DAYS AND GET THE SAME ANSWER, "MY MANAGER HAS YOUR NUMBER AND WILL CALL YOU BACK. SHE EVEN GAVE ME THE NUMBER FOR THE REPAIRMAN, RAHEEM, 610-202-6389 AND HE WAS RUDE AND REFUSED TO ADDRESS MY COMPLAINT TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY. THIS WAS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION OVER SIMPLE NEGLECT. I EXPECT SOME ACKNOWLEDGEMENT AND REIMBURSEMENT OF THE $20, I STILL HAD TO GO TO ANOTHER SERVICE FACILITY TO HAVE THE PROBLEM FIXED. *TR

  • Model: Mitsubishi Spyder 1996
  • Report Received Date: 2000-12-18
  • Manufacturer: MITSUBISHI AMERICA
  • Components: SUSPENSION:FRONT:CONTROL ARM:LOWER BALL JOINT
  • Summary: VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER VEHICLES. IF THE RUBBER BOOTS ON THE LOWER LATERAL ARM BALL JOINTS OF THE FRONT SUSPENSION WERE DAMAGED DURING ASSEMBLY, DIRT AND WATER CAN INTRUDE. ALSO, MMC HAS ADDED THE POTENTIAL OF LEAKING MOISTURE, WHICH CAN CAUSE THE BALL STUD TO CORRODE.
  • Consequence: THIS CONDITION COULD CAUSE THE LOWER LATERAL ARM BALL JOINT TO SEPARATE, INCREASING THE RISK OF A VEHICLE CRASH. THIS CAMPAIGN SUPERCEDES MMC'S PREVIOUS SAFETY RECALL CAMPAIGN, SEE 99V-066.
  • Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE LOWER LATERAL ARM BALL JOINT FOR WEAR. BALL JOINTS THAT EXHIBIT WEAR BEYOND THE ESTABLISHED TOLERANCE WILL BE REPLACED WITH NEWLY DESIGNED LATERAL ARM BALL JOINTS. BALL JOINTS THAT ARE WITHIN THE ESTABLISHED TOLERANCE WILL BE CLEANED AND A SPECIAL SEALANT WILL BE APPLIED TO PREVENT INTRUSION OF MOISTURE.
