Nissan Murano problems
The Nissan Murano (Japanese: 日産・ムラーノ, Hepburn: Nissan Murāno) is a mid-size crossover SUV manufactured and marketed by Nissan since May 2002 for the 2003 model year, and currently in its third generation.
As Nissan's first crossover SUV for the United States and Canada, the Murano was designed at Nissan America in La Jolla, California, and was based on the Nissan FF-L platform shared with the third generation Altima. The European version of the Murano began sales in 2004.
The Murano was Nissan's only crossover SUV in the United States until September 2007, when the Rogue went on sale. In Canada, the X-Trail had been on sale as Nissan's second car based SUV since 2004 as a model for 2005; it was replaced by the 2008 Rogue at the end of 2007. The Murano is sized between the Pathfinder and the now defunct Xterra (which was replaced by the Rogue as a compact SUV). A convertible variant, the Murano CrossCabriolet, was available for the second-generation model for the model years of 2011 to 2014.
The nameplate Murano derives from the Italian islands of Murano and the namesake Murano art glass for which the islands are widely known.

Common Nissan Murano problems
The Nissan Murano, a midsize SUV produced by Nissan, has been praised for its attractive design and impressive lighting elements. However, like any vehicle, it has its share of issues. Here are three of the most common problems reported by Nissan Murano owners:
- Failing engine mounts causing thumping in the floor: More than 180 Nissan Murano owners have reported this issue, which typically arises around 96,000 miles. The sound comes from the engine moving too much, indicating that the engine mounts have failed and need to be replaced.
- Damaged seat adjuster assembly causing noise/rocking movement: Over 140 Nissan Murano owners have reported this problem, which generally appears after 84,000 miles. The damaged seat adjuster assembly can cause the seat to rock back and forth, squeak, or stop adjusting forward, backward, up, or down.
- Air intake tube on the air cleaner box becoming loose: Nearly 40 Nissan Murano owners have reported this issue, which typically arises around 84,000 miles. This problem is related to a recall for 2003 to 2007 models of the Murano, where the air cleaner box or tube can come loose. If your Murano falls within this model year range and has this issue, the repair should be covered by Nissan.
These issues can affect the reliability and overall satisfaction of Nissan Murano owners. It is essential to consider these common problems when considering purchasing a used Murano. Regular maintenance and inspections can help prevent or address these issues, ensuring a more reliable and enjoyable driving experience.

- Summary: My sunroof exploded but I don't know why. There was no warning. Might have been a rock but I didn't see one. I had the sunroof closed but the fabric cover was open for light. I heard an explosive noise and then glass started raining in. I closed the fabric cover to keep the glass out of the passenger compartment. No real injuries other than a couple of glass shards being sharp. Mostly just got some skin irritation. Some areas on my car have scratched paint and plastic parts. I had my Nissan dealer look at it. They will clean up the glass and replace the sunroof for about $2000. I feel like it should be replaced for free as a warranty item. I also got an estimate from a collision shop for about $7500. There is scratched paint and plastic as well as the headliner certainly has glass in it. Their estimate was much more detailed. Filed an insurance claim today, so hope to have it all fixed up soon.

Nissan is recalling more than 56,000 cars because of power-steering hoses that may leak fluid and potentially lead to fires. Nissan North America said the recall affects the 2013-2014 Murano vehicles. The problem stems from the power-steering hose clamp, which may not adequately secure the hose. That could allow the hose to detach and leak power-steering fluid, the company said. Power-steering fluid leaking onto a hot engine or exhaust pipes could cause a fire, Nissan said.

I hope you're doing well! I just wanted to share my experience with my Murano. I've been driving it for about 5 months now and I have to say, it's been a great ride. The handling is smooth and the car itself is very comfortable. As someone who's 6'3, I was pleasantly surprised to find that there's plenty of head and leg room. Plus, with the CVT transmission, you don't feel any shifting. My wife is a big fan of the dual climate controls too! Take care.

I've been a loyal Nissan owner for 16 years and have owned 3 Maximas, including my current 2000 Maxima SE. In my opinion, the Nissan Murano is the best value for your money if you're looking for performance, comfort, and a unique driving experience. We opted for the base S model, which comes with a lot of standard equipment. At the dealership, we had the factory leather seating surface installed for an additional $700. By doing it this way, we ended up saving $1800 since the leather package isn't available on the S model. I highly recommend this crossover SUV to anyone considering a Lexus RX330. You'll save thousands and get even better performance. The 345 horsepower CVT V6 is a dream. It's a great car!

The seats are absolutely sublime, some of the best across cars, period. They have better bolstering than my turned-in non-sport-seat Alfa Romeo Giulia, and are as plush and comfy as a la-z-boy. The lower-lumbar support and adjustment are very strong, but it would have been great if it had adjustable upper-lumbar as well. The magic seat design/foam carries to the rear as well, which are heated even at the SL level. Cupholders are located in the rear seat pull-down, not up front attached to the console, which is a bit of a shame. The suspension tuning is fantastic, although you'll feel the road imperfections a bit with the 20s. However, they barely enter your consciousness if you have the 18in wheels. Other than some mild engine roughness in certain acceleration scenarios, the noise/vibration/harshness of this thing is, I think, the best in this segment, even across luxury marques. It has more than adequate power, and frankly the CVT is better un-rushed. When you try to really get on it, it will

I've been a proud owner of Nissan Murano since their inception and I'm currently driving my 4th one, a 2015 Platinum AWD in Mocha color with light interior. It's a super comfy ride and I've received many compliments on its futuristic styling, which sets it apart from other SUVs. The interior styling is also top-notch and better than any SUV priced $5 grand more. I love driving it down to our winter home in Florida, a 1750 mile trip that's made enjoyable by the Murano. While gas mileage can suffer in town stop & go traffic, it's great on the highway. We've even gotten as much as 31 mpg on our way down to Florida. I must say, Nissan's customer service is exceptional. When we had some transmission problems with our first 2015 Murano, Nissan replaced it with a new one of our choice, no questions asked and no charge. That's what I call great service!

I can tell you really enjoyed your Murano! It's great to hear that you had it for almost 10 years and that it provided a comfortable ride with no major repair costs.

The Murano has many great features such as comfort, power, 4 wheel drive, roominess, and style. It is unfortunate that Nissan has not adequately addressed the list of failure points with its customers. While newer models after 2006 may have improved, the chronic defects in the 2003-2006 models have left a major black mark in my book. The internet is rife with common chronic failures in these vehicles, and Nissan's poor handling of their responsibility to the consumer has left me with a negative impression. I have experienced enough of these failures that I will never buy a Nissan again. Although I have noted several failures on the internet, my 2006 Murano with 88,000 miles has only experienced a few minor issues. While I am fearful of the CVT transmission failing, I am grateful for the extended warranty that came with the car. Since my original review, nothing major has failed on the car, but there are some minor things such as the driver's side sun visor occasionally drooping.I've read on the web that some people have had issues with the pivot point becoming too loose, causing it to obstruct their vision. I'm expecting to have to make some adjustments, such as adding set screws or a sleeve, to stabilize it. Additionally, the cup holder plastics and springs are prone to breaking easily. I've had to repair them multiple times by adding steel pins and using plastic solvent cement to reinforce them.

The driver's seat is broken, the CD player is not functional, and despite replacing all shocks, there is still a noticeable noise when driving over even small bumps.

This car has been in our family for a while now, and while it has a great look and is comfortable, we have unfortunately experienced some issues with it. We had a great road trip to Utah in it, but on one occasion, the AC went out and the car stopped accelerating while going up a hill in the heat. Since then, we have spent a lot of money trying to fix various problems that keep arising, such as issues with the window motor, AC, overheating, and multiple cylindrical misfires. Unfortunately, the transmission is unfixable and completely irreversible. We have been stranded in the heat multiple times, and the car rattles when driven. It also has poor gas mileage and is not reliable for long trips. While we have had some difficulties with this car, we hope that our experience can help others make an informed decision when considering purchasing a used car.

I've owned this car for almost 9 years now and unfortunately, I've had to deal with a few issues. The struts needed to be changed, the CV boots leaked, and the transmission blew up twice. Thankfully, it was still under warranty at the time. The driver's side window motor is currently not working, but I'm hoping to have it replaced soon. The front headlamp lenses are also quite foggy, but unfortunately, they're too expensive to replace at the moment. While there were a couple of other major problems with this SUV, I can't recall them at the moment. Despite these issues, the interior has held up well. However, I've had some unreliable experiences with the mechanics of the vehicle, which has been costly. I'll definitely be exploring other makes and models when it's time for me to purchase a new car.

I recently purchased a used car with 31k miles on it. Unfortunately, as soon as I took it home, I noticed a noise coming from the rear. The dealer informed me that it needs a new rear differential, which is a major repair. However, I am grateful that it is covered under warranty. Overall, the vehicle is solid and the gas mileage is not bad for a 2+ ton CUV. The CVT does take away from the performance of the vehicle, but that is to be expected. I have had some issues with Nissan service, as they initially told me the part would be in within a day, but now it has been delayed for at least 2 weeks. In the meantime, driving my '10 Altima is fine, but I am looking forward to having my Murano back to drive. Thank you for your help with this matter.
