Nissan Murano problems

The Nissan Murano (Japanese: 日産・ムラーノ, Hepburn: Nissan Murāno) is a mid-size crossover SUV manufactured and marketed by Nissan since May 2002 for the 2003 model year, and currently in its third generation.
As Nissan's first crossover SUV for the United States and Canada, the Murano was designed at Nissan America in La Jolla, California, and was based on the Nissan FF-L platform shared with the third generation Altima. The European version of the Murano began sales in 2004.
The Murano was Nissan's only crossover SUV in the United States until September 2007, when the Rogue went on sale. In Canada, the X-Trail had been on sale as Nissan's second car based SUV since 2004 as a model for 2005; it was replaced by the 2008 Rogue at the end of 2007. The Murano is sized between the Pathfinder and the now defunct Xterra (which was replaced by the Rogue as a compact SUV). A convertible variant, the Murano CrossCabriolet, was available for the second-generation model for the model years of 2011 to 2014.
The nameplate Murano derives from the Italian islands of Murano and the namesake Murano art glass for which the islands are widely known.

Common Nissan Murano problems
The Nissan Murano, a midsize SUV produced by Nissan, has been praised for its attractive design and impressive lighting elements. However, like any vehicle, it has its share of issues. Here are three of the most common problems reported by Nissan Murano owners:
- Failing engine mounts causing thumping in the floor: More than 180 Nissan Murano owners have reported this issue, which typically arises around 96,000 miles. The sound comes from the engine moving too much, indicating that the engine mounts have failed and need to be replaced.
- Damaged seat adjuster assembly causing noise/rocking movement: Over 140 Nissan Murano owners have reported this problem, which generally appears after 84,000 miles. The damaged seat adjuster assembly can cause the seat to rock back and forth, squeak, or stop adjusting forward, backward, up, or down.
- Air intake tube on the air cleaner box becoming loose: Nearly 40 Nissan Murano owners have reported this issue, which typically arises around 84,000 miles. This problem is related to a recall for 2003 to 2007 models of the Murano, where the air cleaner box or tube can come loose. If your Murano falls within this model year range and has this issue, the repair should be covered by Nissan.
These issues can affect the reliability and overall satisfaction of Nissan Murano owners. It is essential to consider these common problems when considering purchasing a used Murano. Regular maintenance and inspections can help prevent or address these issues, ensuring a more reliable and enjoyable driving experience.

- Summary: My sunroof exploded but I don't know why. There was no warning. Might have been a rock but I didn't see one. I had the sunroof closed but the fabric cover was open for light. I heard an explosive noise and then glass started raining in. I closed the fabric cover to keep the glass out of the passenger compartment. No real injuries other than a couple of glass shards being sharp. Mostly just got some skin irritation. Some areas on my car have scratched paint and plastic parts. I had my Nissan dealer look at it. They will clean up the glass and replace the sunroof for about $2000. I feel like it should be replaced for free as a warranty item. I also got an estimate from a collision shop for about $7500. There is scratched paint and plastic as well as the headliner certainly has glass in it. Their estimate was much more detailed. Filed an insurance claim today, so hope to have it all fixed up soon.

Nissan is recalling more than 56,000 cars because of power-steering hoses that may leak fluid and potentially lead to fires. Nissan North America said the recall affects the 2013-2014 Murano vehicles. The problem stems from the power-steering hose clamp, which may not adequately secure the hose. That could allow the hose to detach and leak power-steering fluid, the company said. Power-steering fluid leaking onto a hot engine or exhaust pipes could cause a fire, Nissan said.

Vehicle year: 2016
We recently owned a 2016 Acura RDX, but after just three months, we decided to trade it in for a Murano Platinum SUV. Luckily, we found a dealer who was willing to give us an even trade, and it turned out to be a great move. The Murano was clearly designed with the user in mind, rather than just for computer geeks or engineers who are really into auto design. The navigation system is reliable, easy to use, and provides useful information, thanks to its combination with Sirius/XM. It even provides real-time traffic updates, shows the weather in our current area or destination, and lists stocks that we have entered and wish to follow. Entering a waypoint on a trip is a cinch, and the sound system is excellent, with a number of speakers that deliver great sound from our SiriusXM radio, CD, or the HD FM stations available. There are various options in the dashboard display, so a driver can find just about any display he or she finds useful. Personally, I prefer the one that shows the next turn in our trip and also displays the radio station currently being used with the SiriusXM system. When the navigation system is not being used, I like the compass displaying the direction heading. The transmission is very smooth, and acceleration is good. It isn't a race car, but passing is easy, and we can get extra power when needed. It also uses regular gas, and the CVT transmission is much better than some other luxury brands. I cannot feel the car shifting as we accelerate. One of the primary reasons for buying the Murano was the comfort of the front seats, which are very comfortable and have been a lifesaver for my back issues. It is truly a pleasure to drive this car, and it feels like a luxury vehicle for a few thousand less than others (such as our Acura) with easy-to-use features and superior comfort. We have had no problems with this car at all, and the service has been good at the Nissan dealers we have used. I use synthetic oil and can drive 7500 miles or more between oil changes. The heating/cooling system is easy to use and works well. Overall, we highly recommend the Murano Platinum SUV for anyone looking for a comfortable, reliable, and user-friendly vehicle. There is one thing I would like to change about the car: the bend in the hood displays a piece of metal right in front of the window. Since we have a white car, the sunlight reflecting off of this metal is blinding. I am considering going to a body shop to add a different color and finish to this piece of metal to make it more comfortable to drive. Other than that, the car is great! It is comfortable, easy to drive, handles excellently, has an exceptional sound system, and is incredibly reliable. In fact, Nissan's Murano is better than many other luxury cars at a cheaper price.

What a fantastic find! This car offers great value for money compared to new models like the CRV or Forester. I was a bit hesitant about buying a used car, but it's been 7 months now and I haven't had a single problem. Plus, I've received so many compliments on it! Even after a year, it's still running smoothly with no rattles or issues. I took it in for a $30 oil change at the dealer after 19 months, and then again for a tire rotation and another oil change at $39.00. It's now been 4 years and 69000 miles, and it still feels like new. I can confidently say that this is a great car that has exceeded my expectations!

I recently traded in my 2013 Nissan Pathfinder with only 20,000 miles on it for this amazing vehicle. I absolutely love it! It's stunning, has all the latest features, and I couldn't be more pleased with it. This is actually my third Murano, and I have to say, it's my favorite one yet. It has so many great features like automatic braking, blind spot detection, and lane departure warnings. Plus, the all-around cameras make parking a breeze. Overall, I'm extremely happy with my purchase and plan on keeping this vehicle for a while. The only downside is the gas mileage, but if Nissan were to improve that, I would definitely buy another one in a heartbeat!

We've been really enjoying our Murano so far! Although it took a little time to get used to, especially when parking, we've found that once you figure out how to maneuver it, everything is smooth sailing. The safety features, like blind-spot detection and all-around camera views, are great, but our absolute favorite is the distance-sensing cruise control. It allows us to focus on the road and other drivers, rather than constantly checking the speedometer. The cargo area is spacious enough for most standard items, like groceries, and the rear seats can be easily lowered or stood up when needed. Plus, the glove compartment is huge - we're always surprised by how much it can hold! Overall, we're really happy with our Murano and would definitely recommend it to others.

This is our second Nissan Murano and we couldn't be happier. We previously owned a 2013 Metallic Gray Nissan Murano Platinum model and decided to trade it in at 72K for a 2020 Metallic Gray Murano Platinum model. While the 2013 Murano was a great vehicle, the 2020 Nissan has exceeded our expectations and continues to provide us with a great deal of trust in the Nissan brand. The ride is quiet and comfortable and we have had no issues with the vehicle since purchase. It truly is a joy to drive!

Hi there! I noticed that my 2005 SE AWD was using oil, but luckily, my 2005 Murano was still under warranty when the engine needed to be replaced at 80,000 miles due to oil consumption with no visible burn or leak. The transmission was also replaced at 128,000 miles. In addition, I had to replace the engine mounts, driver seat motor, and CV joint. To ensure that I was covered for any future issues, I purchased the Silver warranty at the dealership and extended it as long as possible (140,000 miles). I'm so grateful for the peace of mind it provided!

I purchased my 2017.5 SL AWD Murano in May 2017. At first, I was a bit concerned that the car was manufactured in Mississippi and had a Mexican transmission. However, I thought that with modern manufacturing processes, a car made in Mississippi would be just as good as one made in Japan. Unfortunately, I experienced an odd sound in the engine at around 200 miles. I am disappointed that I am having issues with my car so soon after purchasing it. I will be providing my VIN to Edmunds and Nissan to prove my purchase. I hope that my experience can help others make an informed decision. Thank you for considering my feedback.

I was really excited about this pre-owned car and bought it for around 50K. I also purchased the extended warranty, which turned out to be a great decision. Here is a list of things that were fixed: Catastrophic Failures (covered by Warranty) - Drive box, which wouldn't go in reverse (Out 2 weeks), and the transmission, which was rebuilt when the chain kept leaking (Out 1 week). There were also some minor but extremely annoying issues, such as the door actuator on the driver's handle, windshield wipers (fixed twice), CV joint on the passenger side, and struts after only 60K. Nissan fixed all of these issues, but as soon as the warranty ended, I decided to sell the car. Now it's another Nissan dealership's problem.

Vehicle year: 2009
The transmission began slipping at around 113,000 miles, and despite taking it to Nissan for a reset, it ultimately failed completely at 129,000 miles. Unfortunately, I am still making monthly payments on a car that is now sitting in my driveway. In addition to the transmission issue, I have already had to pay for the radiator, catalyst converter, and exhaust pipe, and cannot afford any further expenses. I am currently exploring options such as replacing the car or voluntary repossession. Thank you for your understanding.

The interior and exterior are very attractive. However, I had many problems with the CVT transmission that was making a rattling noise when accelerated which would cost me more than $2,000 to have fixed. The radio went out after just a few months of me having this vehicle. It was not good on gas mileage & the front end was making a squeaking noise. I would not recommend this vehicle to anyone.
