Land rover Range rover sport problems

The Land Rover Range Rover Sport, generally known as the Range Rover Sport, is a mid-size luxury SUV produced under their Land Rover marque, from the British manufacturer Land Rover, and later Jaguar Land Rover. The first generation (codename: L320) started production in 2005, and was replaced by the second generation Sport (codename: L494) in 2013, replaced by the third generation Sport (codename: L461) in 2022.
Range Stormer concept
The Range Rover Sport was prefigured by the Range Stormer concept car, introduced at the 2004 North American International Auto Show.
This was a low-slung, short wheelbase 3-door coupé that was unusually "sporty" in the context of Land Rover's history. Designed by Richard Woolley, the marque's first complete concept car sported split-folding gullwing doors, one-piece skeletal seats, a "clamshell" bonnet, 22 inch alloys, a 289 km/h (180 mph) top speed, 4WD and a 2,500 kg (5,512 lb) weight. The Range Rover Sport was comparably of much more conservative design featuring five doors and a wheelbase hardly shorter than that of the Range Rover Vogue.
A replica of the Stormer was built by West Coast Customs of Corona, CA for Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, on the occasion of opening West Coast Customs Dubai; the car is currently registered under the Dubai Traffic And Road Authority.
The Range Stormer is now on display at the Heritage Motor Centre in Gaydon, Warwickshire, UK.

I’ve been to Land Rover Range Rover multiple times with this issue, I was told there is no issue and they top it off and tell me it’s good to go, a month later same issue. I’ve noticed there has been a recall on this matter for 2019-2021 Land Rover Ranger Rover PHEV but not on Range Rover sport 2021 even though there has been many complaints about this. I went in today and I was not talking no for an answer and finally they check and as I had suspected coolant is leaking onto turbocharger. Land rover Range rover sport 2009
- Date Of Incident: 2024-06-20
- Date Complaint: 2024-06-21
- VIN: SALSK25419A
- Components: TIRES
- Summary: I purchased four Bridgestone Alenza AS Ultra tires (255 / 50R 19 107 W XL front and back) from Costco at 2700 Potomac Mill Circle, Woodbridge, VA on [XXX]. These tires were specifically for a 2009 Range Rover Sport HSE. The odometer reading was 105632 at the time of purchase, and the tires were installed on [XXX]. The present mileage as of today is 118233. However, after a mere 12,000 miles, all four tires are cracked along the bead inside the tire, showing the threads/wire. The tires are all torn in the sidewall at the bead above the inside of the rim edge and are non-repairable. There was no damage to the rim, nor any reason the tire might have been lacerated by the rim. The tire failure appeared to have occurred without provocation, and Costco had just conducted maintenance in April 2024. The tires have an 80,000-mile warranty, so I wonder how all four tires have the same issue on the inside of the tire after only 12,000-mileage has been recorded; it has been only two years. If the tires had failed while driving, this could have been catastrophic for me and my family, which could have ended up in the vehicle losing control and possibly loss of life since all four tires are damaged. The only driving is taking my son to school and driving in the local area for food. I had a tire inspection done with Cosco Tire in April 2024, and Firestone identified this issue during a wheel alignment on all four tires in June 2024. I took the vehicle to NTB and had a mechanic look at it, and the only conclusion they stated was that these were defective tires. This could have been an improper service by Costco, which they said was not there back in April 2024. The only warnings I had were the illuminated lamp of the TPMS, the tire pressure monitoring system, and the low-pressure warning for the tire The vehicle was brought to Costco for two inspections regarding the TPMS, and all the TPMS on the tires were working correctly; they could not determine the cause of the lamp. - Date Of Incident: 2024-05-11
- Date Complaint: 2024-05-27
- VIN: SAL1L9FU9PA
- Components: STEERING,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
- Summary: Less than 2 hours before my car completely shut down while driving, I received an error message stating "Stop safely. Electrical fault detected." I immediately reached out to the service department who told they didn't think the car would have any additional issues and that I should bring it to the shop on Monday (the incident happened on Saturday). While driving down an entrance ramp to a major highway, my car shut completely off leaving me with no steering, brakes, emergency brakes, hazards or anything--completely dead to the point where absolutely nothing worked. I had to do my best to steer a dead car down an entrance ramp and onto a grassy area on the side of the highway as to avoid being hit by another vehicle or crashing into a vehicle or tree. The safety of myself and my family was put at risk because the car completely shut down leaving no emergency equipment for me to use. I had cars behind me, in front of me, and beside me on a busy highway with a speed limit of 70 mph. I was also going down a ramp with no brakes. At first I thought it was the battery as did the dealership, then they suspected the generator, then they said it was the converter. They were able to produce the same problem after the generator was replaced and the car only ran for 15 minutes. Unfortunately we sold the car within 2 weeks of the incident because we no longer felt safe, and the manufacturer has been replacing one part at a time with the most important part being on back order with no indication of when it will arrive.

This car has been perfect for me. I was originally searching for a sport sedan in the 50k range, but I couldn't find anything that matched my personality. I wanted something that was comfortable and fun to drive but also stood out. In the Range Rover Sport, I found both of those attributes and more. This SUV really stands out, and I receive compliments everywhere I go. It's big enough to look rugged and tough, yet sleek enough to look sexy. Land Rover could not have made a better SUV. When I tell someone that I own a Range Rover, they congratulate me for getting the Sport instead of the other one.

Absolutely amazing vehicle. A masterpiece of form and function. Dealer experience was first class and is what car buying should be, effortless. The quality of this Range Rover is amazing, with top-notch technology and built like a tank. The monster of a V8 engine is every bit as efficient as a high compression turbocharged V6, a testament to British engineering. As an American car buyer, I deviated to support our most loyal ally and trading partner, the good people of the UK! Thank you, Range Rover!

Finally broke down and bought an RR- SC. Great power, comfort, and ride. Nice features, although the nav system could be more intuitive, but I love the 3D look. My 5-year-old nephew said it best, 'This car is amazing!'

I really appreciate the comfort and ride of this vehicle. It's great to hear that you haven't had any issues with the electronic screens or camera, and it's impressive that the fit and finish, comfort, technology, and ride are all top-notch. The supercharged 6 provides plenty of power and torque, which is fantastic. However, I understand that the automatic engine shut off when you come to a stop can be a major annoyance, and it's unfortunate that you can only disengage it for the current ride, not permanently. Additionally, the park assist feature could be improved as it is not as good as the technology on most other brands of car. The process of changing the various dash screens could also be more intuitive, and it would be great if the home screen could be updated more easily. Lastly, I agree that a click in the dash would be helpful, as the small font digital time reading on the screen is not easily seen.

I bought my Rover Sport HSE 2006 at around 40,000 miles, and now over 40,000 miles later, I can say this has been the most reliable car I have ever owned. The brakes are still in great condition, and the transmission shifts very smoothly. I have never had any issues or check engine lights. It's important to use high-quality gas and synthetic oil, and to change the differential fluid every 75,000 miles. One of the things I love about this car is that it's chain-driven, so there's no need to change the timing belt. The suspension is tough enough for off-roading, so you won't have any problems even if you go through a lot of potholes (although you'll feel every bump). Overall, I highly recommend this car!

Vehicle year: 2013
The ride is okay, but there have been some electronic issues. The CD player did not work for the first 250 miles, but it was reprogrammed. The upgraded perforated leather is not up to standard and there are some scratch marks on the seats. The exterior paint is average. Twice, the driver info showed the gas tank was empty when it was actually full. The radio has not sounded right numerous times, even when the power is on. However, the ride is smooth and the sitting position is excellent. It is disappointing that there is no power rear trunk opener for an SUV that costs 80k. I have had my hand twisted while closing the rear hatch numerous times. I also own a 2010 BMW X6M that cost around 90k, and it seems that the Germans are better auto makers than the British. Land Rover needs to fix a lot of quality issues here. Other than that, it is a fairly cute SUV.

While Land Rover vehicles are known for their stunning appearance, my personal experience with the Range Rover Sport has been less than satisfactory. I have encountered several issues with the electrical system, fuel sensors, and door locks, which have required costly repairs. Despite my disappointment, I have decided to move on to a different brand. I have found that the Lexus hybrid SUV offers a more reliable and cost-effective option. Thank you for considering my experience when making your own purchasing decisions.

My wife absolutely adores her 2020 RR Sport PHEV and it truly is a wonderful vehicle. When sitting in it, you can feel the quality of the craftsmanship and enjoy a smooth, quiet ride. Overall, it provides a luxurious driving experience. However, we have encountered some issues with the car that have unfortunately not been resolved by LR service. We purchased the car brand new in January 2020 and it currently has under 10,000 miles and is exactly two years old. Over the past 4-6 months, my wife has experienced three instances where the vehicle lost power while driving. Despite pressing the accelerator pedal, there was no response and the engine didn't rev, resulting in a complete lack of power. This happened to her on a road below our neighborhood where the speed limit is 40 mph and she was understandably frightened. Unfortunately, the same thing happened again on the highway, with a speed limit of 70mph, and she was almost hit by an 18-wheeler. We took the car to the dealer, but they couldn't replicate the issue. After it sat at the LR dealer for two weeks, we took it back. Less than a week later, it happened again and we had to take it back to the dealer. After having it for 10 days, they informed us that they are replacing the 'power cable', although we are not sure what that means. Is it a wire harness? Some other issue? No one will tell us, but because it is on back order, we need to wait at least another two weeks. Needless to say, my wife is now fearful of driving her car again. Please be aware of this issue and consider if this is the best $110k you can spend on a vehicle.

The RRS drives great and, as an owner of 4 previous Land Rovers, I expected nothing less. This one, however, is by far the quickest and looks great too. It would be perfect if the engineers could improve the technology to match the competition. For instance, the $2500 rear seat entertainment system does not come with wireless headphones nor can it be equipped with them. Although I usually install aftermarket entertainment systems in my Rovers, I was advised not to do so with this one due to integration with the car's computer. Therefore, I kindly request the engineers to improve the audio screen and provide wireless headphones. I believe it is possible as I have done it in my last 3 Rovers!!

For the price that is paid, we understand that you would expect a monitor interface that does not lag, a back-up camera that does not black out, and basic features such as an easy entry option for seats and steering wheel. Unfortunately, the Range Rover Sport does not meet these expectations. Additionally, the car name 'Sport' can be misleading. Despite the gas-wasting turbocharger, pressing on the gas does not provide the expected power. However, if you are interested in additional widgets and add-ons, then the Range Rover Sport may be worth considering.
