The Land Rover Range Rover Sport, generally known as the Range Rover Sport, is a mid-size luxury SUV produced under their Land Rover marque, from the British manufacturer Land Rover, and later Jaguar Land Rover. The first generation (codename: L320) started production in 2005, and was replaced by the second generation Sport (codename: L494) in 2013, replaced by the third generation Sport (codename: L461) in 2022.
Range Stormer concept
The Range Rover Sport was prefigured by the Range Stormer concept car, introduced at the 2004 North American International Auto Show.
This was a low-slung, short wheelbase 3-door coupé that was unusually "sporty" in the context of Land Rover's history. Designed by Richard Woolley, the marque's first complete concept car sported split-folding gullwing doors, one-piece skeletal seats, a "clamshell" bonnet, 22 inch alloys, a 289 km/h (180 mph) top speed, 4WD and a 2,500 kg (5,512 lb) weight. The Range Rover Sport was comparably of much more conservative design featuring five doors and a wheelbase hardly shorter than that of the Range Rover Vogue.
A replica of the Stormer was built by West Coast Customs of Corona, CA for Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, on the occasion of opening West Coast Customs Dubai; the car is currently registered under the Dubai Traffic And Road Authority.
The Range Stormer is now on display at the Heritage Motor Centre in Gaydon, Warwickshire, UK.

- Summary: Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC (Land Rover) is recalling certain 2018-2022 Range Rover Sport vehicles equipped with a Surround Camera System. Water may enter into the rearview camera, which can cause the rearview camera image not to appear on the display or display a distorted image. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, "Rear Visibility."
- Consequence: A rearview camera image that does not display can decrease the driver's visibility, increasing the risk of injury or crash.
- Remedy: Dealers will inspect the rearview camera for damage. If no damage is found, the camera will be fitted with a new seal. If damage is found, the camera will be replaced and calibrated. Repairs will be performed free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 18, 2024. Owners may contact Land Rover customer service at 1-800-637-6837. Land Rover's number for this recall is N901. These vehicles were previously recalled under 24V-023 for this same issue and will need to have the new remedy completed.

As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
- Consequence: The driver may be unaware that the high beams are illuminated, reducing visibility for oncoming traffic, and increasing the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: Land Rover will notify owners, and dealers will update the vehicle software, free of charge. The recall began April 7, 2021. Owners may contact Land Rover customer service at 1-800-637-6837. Land Rover's number for this recall is N556.

It's true that all Range Rover Sports look alike, but this can also be seen as a positive for those who appreciate flying under the radar. The HSE model is the most common in the DMV area, but the Supercharged, Autobiography, and SVR models offer more exclusivity. While the 6-cylinder engine may not be the most powerful, it still offers a smooth ride and decent fuel efficiency. Overall, the Range Rover is a top-tier SUV that is worth considering for anyone in the market for a luxury vehicle.So in summary, if you're looking for a luxurious SUV that can handle off-roading like a champ, the Range Rover Sport 2019 is the way to go. With its impressive 517+ HP and a 0-60 time of 5.1 seconds (faster than a 996 Porsche Carrera), it's a no-brainer. Plus, the luxury and world-class off-roading capabilities make it stand out from the competition. While other car makers try to replicate it and come up short, the Range Rover Sport and full-size remain the greatest SUVs ever created. I hope you're doing well! I wanted to share some thoughts on the 2019 vehicles. I was wondering if all of them come with a shut off when idling? If not, that would be a shame. In my opinion, it's always a good idea to get a Super Charge or a larger engine (if available) to ensure a smooth ride. While it may be a bit difficult to get onto the highway, once you're rolling, it's a wonderful experience. I live in a busy suburb with a decent amount of traffic, and I find it to be a great highway vehicle. It's also great for rough terrain. My wife and I are both seniors and we're still trying to figure out the technology, but we're getting there. The dealer was really nice and even invited us back for another tutorial. However, in the rare event of a problem, it is important to note that our policy states that if a vehicle is in the shop for over 30 days, it will be replaced. In this particular case, it took us over 60 days to identify and resolve the issue, which is not up to our usual standards. We experienced a sudden loss of power while driving our LandRover on a busy commercial street, which could have resulted in serious injury or worse. Despite instinctively trying to pump the gas pedal, the vehicle came to a dead stop without any warning. Fortunately, we were able to turn into a nearby shopping area, but this was purely due to luck. We want to make other owners aware that LandRover America is currently struggling with this issue in their 2018 and 2019 models, and we strongly urge them to issue a recall. After bringing our car in for service and following the manufacturer's instructions for repair, we requested a guarantee from LandRover that the throttle problem had been resolved, but unfortunately, they refused. It is nonsensical that LandRover is placing the liability on the dealer, when they are the responsible party for this defect. We hope that LandRover takes notice of this issue and takes appropriate action to ensure the safety of their customers.
