The Land Rover Range Rover Sport, generally known as the Range Rover Sport, is a mid-size luxury SUV produced under their Land Rover marque, from the British manufacturer Land Rover, and later Jaguar Land Rover. The first generation (codename: L320) started production in 2005, and was replaced by the second generation Sport (codename: L494) in 2013, replaced by the third generation Sport (codename: L461) in 2022.
Range Stormer concept
The Range Rover Sport was prefigured by the Range Stormer concept car, introduced at the 2004 North American International Auto Show.
This was a low-slung, short wheelbase 3-door coupé that was unusually "sporty" in the context of Land Rover's history. Designed by Richard Woolley, the marque's first complete concept car sported split-folding gullwing doors, one-piece skeletal seats, a "clamshell" bonnet, 22 inch alloys, a 289 km/h (180 mph) top speed, 4WD and a 2,500 kg (5,512 lb) weight. The Range Rover Sport was comparably of much more conservative design featuring five doors and a wheelbase hardly shorter than that of the Range Rover Vogue.
A replica of the Stormer was built by West Coast Customs of Corona, CA for Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, on the occasion of opening West Coast Customs Dubai; the car is currently registered under the Dubai Traffic And Road Authority.
The Range Stormer is now on display at the Heritage Motor Centre in Gaydon, Warwickshire, UK.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued 5 recalls for different components of the 2019 Land rover Range rover sport.

- Components: BACK OVER PREVENTION: SENSING SYSTEM: CAMERA
- Summary: Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC (Land Rover) is recalling certain 2018-2022 Range Rover Sport vehicles equipped with a Surround Camera System. Water may enter into the rearview camera, which can cause the rearview camera image not to appear on the display or display a distorted image. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, "Rear Visibility."
- Consequence: A rearview camera image that does not display can decrease the driver's visibility, increasing the risk of injury or crash.
- Remedy: Dealers will inspect the rearview camera for damage. If no damage is found, the camera will be fitted with a new seal. If damage is found, the camera will be replaced and calibrated. Repairs will be performed free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 18, 2024. Owners may contact Land Rover customer service at 1-800-637-6837. Land Rover's number for this recall is N901. These vehicles were previously recalled under 24V-023 for this same issue and will need to have the new remedy completed.

As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
- Consequence: The driver may be unaware that the high beams are illuminated, reducing visibility for oncoming traffic, and increasing the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: Land Rover will notify owners, and dealers will update the vehicle software, free of charge. The recall began April 7, 2021. Owners may contact Land Rover customer service at 1-800-637-6837. Land Rover's number for this recall is N556.

It's true that all Range Rover Sports look alike, but this can also be seen as a positive for those who appreciate flying under the radar. The HSE model is the most common in the DMV area, but the Supercharged, Autobiography, and SVR models offer more exclusivity. While the 6-cylinder engine may not be the most powerful, it still offers a smooth ride and decent fuel efficiency. Overall, the Range Rover is a top-tier SUV that is worth considering for anyone in the market for a luxury vehicle.So in summary, if you're looking for a luxurious SUV that can handle off-roading like a champ, the Range Rover Sport 2019 is the way to go. With its impressive 517+ HP and a 0-60 time of 5.1 seconds (faster than a 996 Porsche Carrera), it's a no-brainer. Plus, the luxury and world-class off-roading capabilities make it stand out from the competition. While other car makers try to replicate it and come up short, the Range Rover Sport and full-size remain the greatest SUVs ever created. I hope you're doing well! I wanted to share some thoughts on the 2019 vehicles. I was wondering if all of them come with a shut off when idling? If not, that would be a shame. In my opinion, it's always a good idea to get a Super Charge or a larger engine (if available) to ensure a smooth ride. While it may be a bit difficult to get onto the highway, once you're rolling, it's a wonderful experience. I live in a busy suburb with a decent amount of traffic, and I find it to be a great highway vehicle. It's also great for rough terrain. My wife and I are both seniors and we're still trying to figure out the technology, but we're getting there. The dealer was really nice and even invited us back for another tutorial. I purchased this car in March 2019 and was initially thrilled with its luxurious appearance. However, shortly after buying it, my daughter and I had a terrifying experience when the car suddenly stopped in the middle of a busy highway. Despite my distress, the emergency services took a while to arrive due to holiday traffic. After two hours, the car was finally towed away. I contacted the company and was told that they would review my case, but it took almost 60 days to receive a response. Unfortunately, they denied my claim, stating that since they had fixed the issue, they were not responsible for any further compensation. I was disappointed to learn that the engine failure was a recall issue that I was not informed about. Overall, I would not recommend purchasing a car from Range Rover.

I purchased a 2019 Range Rover Sport V8 Supercharged in August 2019. Initially, everything was great except for a sunroof rattle that was present from the day I picked up the car. Unfortunately, things took a turn for the worse around January 2020. The 'Sport' badge painted in black on the tailgate began flaking off, but the dealership was able to fix the issue. I also experienced a clicking noise on the outside of the car when turning the wheel at low speeds, which was resolved by replacing the upper control arm. Additionally, the screens in the car have gone black while driving and the reverse camera has stopped working, but the dealership is working to resolve these issues. I have also had some suspension and other related warning faults, but the dealership has been helpful in addressing these concerns. Although there have been some issues with the car, the dealership has been responsive and has worked to resolve each issue as it arises. I appreciate their efforts to ensure my safety and satisfaction with the vehicle.The passenger seat motor fan for the heated and cooling seats is currently jammed and not working. Additionally, the brake pedal inside the car makes an awful groaning noise when applied and clicks when sudden pressure is applied. Although the brake pedal actuator was replaced, the issues still persist. There are also some rattles inside the cabin when the engine is idling high, as well as engine vibrations around 1200rpm which can be felt throughout the cabin. It is unclear whether this is related to the transmission, but at low speeds and especially in traffic, there can be sudden jolts and thumps under the car, almost as if there is a disconnect in the drivetrain, which can be very abrupt at times. It is important to note that the car is only a year and a bit old with 23k kilometres to date. While the car looks great and the interior is very nice, the constant issues are frustrating. As it is a lease, I am looking forward to returning the car. Unfortunately, I will not be returning to this brand since I have never had so many issues with a vehicle that is only over a year old. The quality of the vehicle is not up to par and the dealer's service has been subpar. I have had better quality and service from much cheaper cars like a Nissan Altima. It is definitely not worth the money to spend on such an expensive vehicle that spends most of its time at the dealer. It is better to get a simpler and cheaper vehicle.

Recently purchased a 2019 Range Rover Sport, unfortunately, the car has experienced a complete electrical/system failure. Despite having the car towed to the dealer, they have been unable to provide a solution and are waiting for corporate engineering to find a fix. It is concerning to hear that this issue has affected others for over a month with no solution in sight. However, I am confident that the manufacturer will take the necessary steps to resolve this issue as soon as possible.

This car has been a disappointment. The cameras and computer systems are not functioning properly, which has been a distraction. Based on my experience, I would not recommend purchasing or leasing this car.
