2009 Land rover Range rover sport problems
The Land Rover Range Rover Sport, generally known as the Range Rover Sport, is a mid-size luxury SUV produced under their Land Rover marque, from the British manufacturer Land Rover, and later Jaguar Land Rover. The first generation (codename: L320) started production in 2005, and was replaced by the second generation Sport (codename: L494) in 2013, replaced by the third generation Sport (codename: L461) in 2022.
Range Stormer concept
The Range Rover Sport was prefigured by the Range Stormer concept car, introduced at the 2004 North American International Auto Show.
This was a low-slung, short wheelbase 3-door coupé that was unusually "sporty" in the context of Land Rover's history. Designed by Richard Woolley, the marque's first complete concept car sported split-folding gullwing doors, one-piece skeletal seats, a "clamshell" bonnet, 22 inch alloys, a 289 km/h (180 mph) top speed, 4WD and a 2,500 kg (5,512 lb) weight. The Range Rover Sport was comparably of much more conservative design featuring five doors and a wheelbase hardly shorter than that of the Range Rover Vogue.
A replica of the Stormer was built by West Coast Customs of Corona, CA for Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, on the occasion of opening West Coast Customs Dubai; the car is currently registered under the Dubai Traffic And Road Authority.
The Range Stormer is now on display at the Heritage Motor Centre in Gaydon, Warwickshire, UK.

Common 2009 Land rover Range rover sport problems
The Land Rover Range Rover Sport 2009 is known for several common problems that can affect its performance, reliability, and safety. Here are some of the most frequent issues reported by owners of this vehicle:
- Whine/Drone When Driving: A consistent whining or droning sound while driving can indicate dry bearings in the differential. This issue can be resolved by replacing the differential or the bearings, which can be ordered from BreakerYard or other suppliers.
- Grinding Noise When Driving: A grinding noise while driving, especially when accelerating or braking, can be a sign of worn-out brake pads or rotors. This issue can be addressed by replacing the damaged parts with new ones from authorized dealers or aftermarket suppliers.
- Rattling Sound When Driving: A rattling sound while driving, especially on uneven surfaces, can be caused by worn-out drop link bushes on the front suspension tie bars. This issue can be resolved by replacing the damaged parts with new ones from authorized dealers or aftermarket suppliers.
- Knocking Sound From Front of Car: A knocking or clonking sound coming from the front of the car, especially at low speeds, can be caused by a worn-out front lower suspension arm. This issue can be addressed by replacing the damaged part with a new one from authorized dealers or aftermarket suppliers.
- Transfer Box Failure: The transfer box, which is part of the drivetrain, is known for failing in the Range Rover Sport 2009. This issue can be costly to repair or replace, but some suppliers offer lower-priced replacement transfer boxes.
- EGR Valves: The Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) valves, which are fitted to most modern vehicles to reduce CO2 emissions, can get clogged up with carbon build-up in the Range Rover Sport 2009. This issue can lead to hesitation and lack of power when accelerating, and can be resolved by cleaning or replacing the valves.
- Hand Brake Screeching Or Failing To Release Properly: A loud screeching or the handbrake not releasing fully can be caused by the handbrake shoes collapsing. This issue can be addressed by replacing the damaged parts with new ones from authorized dealers or aftermarket suppliers.
- Front Differential: A drone or whining noise most noticeable at constant speeds can be caused by dry bearings in the front differential. This issue can be resolved by replacing the differential or the bearings, which can be ordered from authorized dealers or aftermarket suppliers.
- Loss of Power: Loss of power on the Range Rover Sport can be caused by a number of issues, most of which require the vehicle to be plugged into diagnostic equipment to find the exact cause. The most common faults are related to the air boost pressure, which can be caused by leaks or blockages in the air intake system or intercooler hoses.
It is important to note that these issues are not exclusive to the Range Rover Sport 2009, and that other model years and variations may have different or additional problems. Additionally, some of these issues may be covered under warranty or maintenance plans, and owners should consult their vehicle's manual or contact authorized dealers for more information.

TIRES PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-06-20
- VIN: SALSK25419A
- Components: TIRES
- Summary: I purchased four Bridgestone Alenza AS Ultra tires (255 / 50R 19 107 W XL front and back) from Costco at 2700 Potomac Mill Circle, Woodbridge, VA on [XXX]. These tires were specifically for a 2009 Range Rover Sport HSE. The odometer reading was 105632 at the time of purchase, and the tires were installed on [XXX]. The present mileage as of today is 118233. However, after a mere 12,000 miles, all four tires are cracked along the bead inside the tire, showing the threads/wire. The tires are all torn in the sidewall at the bead above the inside of the rim edge and are non-repairable. There was no damage to the rim, nor any reason the tire might have been lacerated by the rim. The tire failure appeared to have occurred without provocation, and Costco had just conducted maintenance in April 2024. The tires have an 80,000-mile warranty, so I wonder how all four tires have the same issue on the inside of the tire after only 12,000-mileage has been recorded; it has been only two years. If the tires had failed while driving, this could have been catastrophic for me and my family, which could have ended up in the vehicle losing control and possibly loss of life since all four tires are damaged. The only driving is taking my son to school and driving in the local area for food. I had a tire inspection done with Cosco Tire in April 2024, and Firestone identified this issue during a wheel alignment on all four tires in June 2024. I took the vehicle to NTB and had a mechanic look at it, and the only conclusion they stated was that these were defective tires. This could have been an improper service by Costco, which they said was not there back in April 2024. The only warnings I had were the illuminated lamp of the TPMS, the tire pressure monitoring system, and the low-pressure warning for the tire The vehicle was brought to Costco for two inspections regarding the TPMS, and all the TPMS on the tires were working correctly; they could not determine the cause of the lamp. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,STRUCTURE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-01-28
- VIN: SALSF25409A
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,STRUCTURE
- Summary: There are KNOWN areas around the A pillar, windshield, and sunroof that leak and allow water to enter the vehicle and pool up in the wiring channels next to the doors, the water causes shorts and corrosion in the wiring which causes faults (Check engine, etc) that the owner is forced to attempt to correct on their own. There are numerous videos made by Land Rover owners over the last 15 years showing the common areas where water enters the vehicle. The average owner is not mechanical inclined and will not pull apart their vehicle to search for places where water is entering. Land Rover knows about this issue and does nothing but charge their customers many hours of labor at the dealership to investigate. The water damage to the wiring has and will cause issues with the vehicle that the average person will or must go to the dealership to attempt a repair.

I've only had it for a week, so I don't have much to go on yet. However, my first impressions are that it's one of the best drives out there. The seating position is very good, even for someone of my XL size. I've driven the full-size Range and the Sport, and while I loved the inside of the full-size, this one drives so much better. It really feels like a world-class sports car.

I've gradually upgraded my vehicles from the disco 2 to the lr3 and now to the rrscs, and I must say, this truck is both sleek and fast. When driving on the highway, transitioning from ramp speed to highway speed is a breeze. When in sport mode, it does consume a lot of gas, but it also provides an exhilarating rush. The only issues I've encountered were having to replace a fuse for the heated seats and the driver's airbag sensor. It's worth noting that I haven't experienced any major issues with the lr3 and disco 2 either.

I'm so glad to hear that you're enjoying your 2008 Limited Edition Sport! It sounds like you've already put a lot of miles on it and haven't had any issues, which is fantastic. From your description, it seems like it drives even better than some of the other vehicles you've owned in the past, like the SRT8, Audi RS6, and Boxster. Thanks for sharing your positive experience with us!

Wonderful ownership experience thus far! I was initially skeptical about purchasing this vehicle due to its historical reliability ratings, but I have been pleasantly surprised with its performance and quality. So far, I have not encountered any problems. It is one of the best handling SUVs out there, and its acceleration and stopping power are superb. I also put some Nokians on for winter and off-road use, and it performs great off-road. In my humble opinion, this is the best offering available for a perfect blend of performance, styling, and off-road capability.

Hi there! I wanted to check if there were any recalls issued for my vehicle, so I went online. I found a few that I hadn't been notified about, so I decided to contact customer service. I spoke with Terrance, who informed me that no recalls had been issued. I was a bit confused since I had seen recall notices online, but Terrance assured me that there were none. Thank you for your help, Terrance!

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share my experience with my Range Rover. Unfortunately, I've had some issues with it over the past few years. It has spent a lot of time in my driveway broken down, and I've spent quite a bit of money on repairs. In the first year alone, I spent around 3k on normal maintenance items like suspension lights and limp mode. After all of this, I've come to the conclusion that it might be best to save your money for a more reliable car, like a space cruiser. Thanks for listening!

Although I have owned a BMW X5 4.4 and a Mercedes ML 450 before, I regret to say that the 2008 Range Rover Sport has not met my expectations. The heated front wind shield creates a glare that may be uncomfortable for those who wear glasses. Additionally, the horn is difficult to locate in times of need. The interior design could be improved, as it is not very user-friendly. For instance, it is challenging to find the button for the rear hatch. Overall, I believe that there is room for improvement in this truck.

It's important to note that new repairs are often required during oil change services. These repairs can range from suspension bushings, air suspension, and complete drive train - transmission, transfer case, front rear differentials to AC, dash servos, tire monitor system, alternator, starter, power steering pump, and more.
