The Land Rover Range Rover Sport, generally known as the Range Rover Sport, is a mid-size luxury SUV produced under their Land Rover marque, from the British manufacturer Land Rover, and later Jaguar Land Rover. The first generation (codename: L320) started production in 2005, and was replaced by the second generation Sport (codename: L494) in 2013, replaced by the third generation Sport (codename: L461) in 2022.
Range Stormer concept
The Range Rover Sport was prefigured by the Range Stormer concept car, introduced at the 2004 North American International Auto Show.
This was a low-slung, short wheelbase 3-door coupé that was unusually "sporty" in the context of Land Rover's history. Designed by Richard Woolley, the marque's first complete concept car sported split-folding gullwing doors, one-piece skeletal seats, a "clamshell" bonnet, 22 inch alloys, a 289 km/h (180 mph) top speed, 4WD and a 2,500 kg (5,512 lb) weight. The Range Rover Sport was comparably of much more conservative design featuring five doors and a wheelbase hardly shorter than that of the Range Rover Vogue.
A replica of the Stormer was built by West Coast Customs of Corona, CA for Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, on the occasion of opening West Coast Customs Dubai; the car is currently registered under the Dubai Traffic And Road Authority.
The Range Stormer is now on display at the Heritage Motor Centre in Gaydon, Warwickshire, UK.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued 10 recalls for different components of the 2016 Land rover Range rover sport.

- Components: SEAT BELTS:FRONT:RETRACTOR
- Summary: Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC (Land Rover) is recalling certain 2016-2017 Range Rover and Range Rover Sport vehicles. The driver's seat belt emergency locking retractor may not lock as intended. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) numbers 209, "Seat Belt Assemblies" and 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."
- Consequence: During hard braking before a crash, the seat belt emergency locking retractor may not lock as intended, increasing the risk of injury.
- Remedy: Dealers will inspect and replace the seat belt assembly, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 29, 2022. Owners may contact Land Rover customer service at 1-800-637-6837. Land Rover's number for this recall is N678. This recall replaces NHTSA recall number 19V-350. Vehicles previously inspected under recall 19V-350 that did not receive a replacement seat belt assembly will need to have this new recall remedy performed.

Due to a problem with the Keyless Vehicle Latching System (KV Latch), the doors may appear to be closed but may be unlatched.
- Consequence: Unlatched doors may open while the vehicle is in motion, increasing the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: Land Rover will notify owners, and dealers will inspect for any issues with the KV system, disabling the KV mechanisms if necessary, and update the KV Latch software, free of charge. The recall began November 30, 2020. Owners may contact Land Rover customer service at 1-800-452-4827. Land Rover's number for this recall is N476.

What a great ride! I ordered my 2016 RRS and it was delivered in October. I absolutely love this truck. The diesel engine is incredibly efficient, giving me an impressive 26-27 mpg combined. This kind of mileage per gallon is exactly why most SUVs should be diesel. I don't even use the smart on/off technology because I believe that diesel engines should have a minimum of ON/OFF for the engine. To be fully satisfied with this RRS, I recommend getting all possible upgrades. The audio is not great for the money you pay if you don't upgrade to the Meridian system, but this is a small sacrifice that is made up for by the way it drives. Even if you're like me and didn't upgrade to the Meridian System, you'll still be very happy with this SUV. My friends and family love it too, so there will definitely be other RRS purchases in the family :)

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I just wanted to share my experience with the car I got two weeks ago. Despite having to collect it in a blizzard, I've managed to do a couple of hundred miles, including a 100 mile round trip yesterday. I must say, the car is light years ahead of the previous model! At first, I was a little skeptical of buying the V6 due to the power drop over the normally aspirated V8 of the previous RRS, but the car feels much stronger than the figures portray and I don't regret not getting the V8. The design and finish are way ahead of last gen, as is the ride quality on standard 20

This is my first Ranger Rover supercharged V8. It's an awesome, super smooth, and powerful SUV. I've owned many fine cars and SUVs, but nothing compares to this V8 Supercharged monster. I would definitely consider upgrading to a full-size long wheelbase Range Autobiography in the future. I don't think I could go back to a US or German-made SUV again.

I see that you have 110k miles on your HSE and it's great to hear that it has been nearly flawless except for routine maintenance. I understand that you need to resign the coolant crossover pipe, which seems to be a real issue. It's impressive that you plan to go $250k or further with your vehicle!

In my opinion, the Range Rover Sport may be a bit overpriced for a V6 engine, but it certainly has its charms. While the interior layout could use some improvement, and the GPS and entertainment system may not be the most intuitive out there, it still has a lot to offer. This is my first Range Rover and I recently received my 2016 Range Rover Sports SE. Although I did not upgrade the audio system, I was disappointed with the quality of the standard radio. As someone who enjoys listening to music, I found the speakers to be of poor quality. However, I am pleased with the car's driving performance. While the incontrol app system could use some improvement, overall the car is a great choice.

I really enjoy cars and have owned some nice ones in the past. My grandfather used to own the British Leland franchise in Victoria, Australia, so I have a particular fondness for Rover. However, I had some unfortunate experiences with Land Rover, specifically with an LR4 and a Range Rover Sport V8 Supercharged Dynamic, which led me to completely divorce myself from the brand. Here's a summary of the main issues I had with the RRS: Firstly, the car is incredibly fast, but unfortunately, it's also quite scary to drive at high speeds. I never felt confident that I could turn, swerve or brake quickly if needed, which caused me a lot of anxiety during daily driving. Secondly, the build quality of the car is not up to par with its price point. My vehicle rattled in multiple places, including the glove box, center console, driver and passenger seats, A pillar of the driver door, and even the ceiling. The premium stereo also caused a lot of rattling, which was quite disappointing. Thirdly, the brakes squeaked from the day I bought the car and continued to do so even after changing the brake pads. For a vehicle that costs nearly $100K, this was quite embarrassing. Lastly, the service experience at Land Rover Seattle was horrible. I had numerous issues with the car, but they were never properly addressed by the service team. Overall, I would not recommend the RRS or Land Rover based on my experiences.I had some issues that I brought up at multiple meetings, but unfortunately, I never received the promised follow-up. However, I must say that the staff was always pleasant. As a customer who purchased both a $70K and a $95K+ vehicle from the same dealership, I expected exceptional loyalty and customer service in return, but unfortunately, that did not happen. As a result, I decided to sell both my Rovers in the same month, which resulted in a massive loss on the RRS. I then decided to purchase a Model S Tesla, and I must say that every issue I had pointed out is no longer an issue. I am extremely satisfied with my Tesla and will never own another vehicle but a Tesla.

I ordered a Sport and it was such an enjoyable car, but unfortunately, I had to go to the dealer almost every month to have the DEF fluid system checked. They kept mentioning a software update, but even after the update, the issue persisted. The DEF system was just horrible!
