2006 Land rover Range rover sport problems
The Land Rover Range Rover Sport, generally known as the Range Rover Sport, is a mid-size luxury SUV produced under their Land Rover marque, from the British manufacturer Land Rover, and later Jaguar Land Rover. The first generation (codename: L320) started production in 2005, and was replaced by the second generation Sport (codename: L494) in 2013, replaced by the third generation Sport (codename: L461) in 2022.
Range Stormer concept
The Range Rover Sport was prefigured by the Range Stormer concept car, introduced at the 2004 North American International Auto Show.
This was a low-slung, short wheelbase 3-door coupé that was unusually "sporty" in the context of Land Rover's history. Designed by Richard Woolley, the marque's first complete concept car sported split-folding gullwing doors, one-piece skeletal seats, a "clamshell" bonnet, 22 inch alloys, a 289 km/h (180 mph) top speed, 4WD and a 2,500 kg (5,512 lb) weight. The Range Rover Sport was comparably of much more conservative design featuring five doors and a wheelbase hardly shorter than that of the Range Rover Vogue.
A replica of the Stormer was built by West Coast Customs of Corona, CA for Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, on the occasion of opening West Coast Customs Dubai; the car is currently registered under the Dubai Traffic And Road Authority.
The Range Stormer is now on display at the Heritage Motor Centre in Gaydon, Warwickshire, UK.

Common 2006 Land rover Range rover sport problems
The Land Rover Range Rover Sport 2006 has been reported to have several common problems based on complaints from owners. These issues range from electrical faults to mechanical problems, which can affect the vehicle's performance and safety.
- Brake pipe corrosion: One of the most common reasons for Range Rover Sports to fail their MOT is due to brake pipe corrosion. The buildup of dirt and salt can cause the brake pipe to corrode, leading to a loss of brake power and brake fluid. This issue can cause a significant safety risk and should be addressed promptly.
- Dry bearings in the differential: A consistent whining or droning sound coming from the car can be a sign of dry bearings in the differential. This issue can lead to the gears wearing out and the differential needing to be replaced. It is essential to address this issue promptly to avoid further damage to the vehicle.
- Front lower suspension arm: A knocking or clonking sound coming from the front of the car while driving, especially at low speeds, can be caused by a worn-out front lower suspension arm. This issue is one of the most consistent problems for the Range Rover Sport, and replacing the entire arm is the best solution.
- EGR valve problems: The EGR valve can get clogged up with a carbon build-up, leading to hesitation and a lack of power when accelerating. This issue can cause poor performance and should be addressed promptly by cleaning out the EGR valve with a small brush and carb cleaner.
- Handbrake faults: A loud screeching or the handbrake not releasing fully can be caused by the handbrake shoes collapsing. This issue can cause damage to the discs and should be addressed promptly by replacing the handbrake shoes and, if necessary, the discs.
- Air suspension faults: Air suspension faults are common in the Range Rover Sport 2006, with owners reporting issues such as loss of power, poor running, and high fuel consumption. These problems can lead to poor performance and should be addressed promptly.
In conclusion, the Range Rover Sport 2006 has several common problems that owners should be aware of. These issues can affect the vehicle's performance and safety, and prompt attention is required to address them. It is essential to regularly service and maintain the vehicle to avoid further damage and ensure its longevity.

POWER TRAIN PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2012-01-14
- VIN: SALSH23426A
- Components: POWER TRAIN
- Summary: @ 65MPH, I HEARD A MUFFLED 'POP' COMING FROM BENEATH AND IN FRONT, AND MY 2006 RANGE ROVER SPORT SUPERCHARGED IMMEDIATELY LURCHED. A GEAR WHINE PROCEEDED, WHICH WOULD REACT IN PITCH TO MY RATE OF SPEED. FEATHERING THE THROTTLE IMPACTED THE NOISE, AND I SUSPECTED MY FRONT DIFFERENTIAL, OR A FRONT WHEEL BEARING. AS IT WAS EXTREMELY COLD OUTSIDE, AND EXTREMELY LATE, I BABIED THE SPORT THE REMAINING 10 MILES HOME, WHERE I RAISED THE TRUCK AND CONFIRMED A GREAT DEAL OF HEAVY VISCOSITY FLUID HAD COATED THE BOTTOM OF MY VEHICLE, EMANATING FROM THE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL, ON THE LEFT (US DRIVER'S) SIDE. IT CAUSED QUITE A BIT OF SMOKE, HAVING PAINTED ITSELF ON TO THE EXHAUST SYSTEM. AFTER SOME RESEARCH, I DISCOVERED THAT LAND ROVER HAS ISSUED A SPECIAL SERVICE BULLETIN ON FRONT DIFFERENTIAL FAILURE, SAYING THAT ON EARLY MODELS, THE INSIDE OF THE DIFFERENTIALS WERE COATED WITH A PAINT THAT DELAMINATES, MIXING WITH THE GEAR FLUID AND CONTAMINATING IT, CAUSING OVERHEATING AND BEARING/SEAL FAILURE. I AM OUT OF WARRANTY (THE TRUCK IS NOW @ 50K MILES), AND HAVE FILED A COMPLAINT WITH LAND ROVER TO PETITION TO GET THIS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THIS, APPARENTLY, IS A COMMON PROBLEM - ENOUGH SO THAT THEY ISSUED A SERVICE BULLETIN ADMITTING A FAULT. *TR

I recently went on a road trip in my new supercharged sport SUV and I absolutely love it! Initially, I was hesitant about purchasing an SUV, but since my needs had changed and a RS4 was no longer practical, I began searching for a sport SUV. Unfortunately, the Cayenne-S drive was a disappointment and the X5 didn't have enough room. However, the RR sport super was the perfect option for me. After going on a road trip, I can confidently say that I made the right choice. The performance of this SUV is exceptional - the acceleration, handling, and braking all exceeded my expectations. The interior is also stunning, but the driving experience is what truly counts. If the maintenance isn't an issue, this SUV is easily the best option for those who want a sports car.

If you're searching for an SUV that offers a smooth ride like a luxury sedan, handles like a sports car, has a plush interior, and is a true off-road vehicle, then the Range Rover Sport is the perfect choice. It is the best in its class and excels on the road.

I was quite content with my previous X5 BMW until I experienced this amazing vehicle. It fits perfectly with a luxurious and sturdy interior, and a confident road position. I was especially impressed with its performance during our first snow storm when I activated the terrain response system. The Rover held the road like a tank and showed no signs of slipping or sliding despite the icy conditions. Any vehicle as complex as this is bound to have some adjustment issues, but the dealer has been very attentive. It piques the interest of car enthusiasts, and I have yet to see another one on the road.

You've been lucky enough to experience a number of Discos, 2 RR, and LR3, and now the RRS. It's truly amazing! Land Rover has always been able to create a vehicle that can truly work off-road, unlike so-called 'Sport utility vehicles'. The RR has always been an elegant working vehicle, and now they've managed to incorporate a sports car into the package. There are no comparable vehicles on the market today, although there are many wannabes! If you're looking for true performance, off-road capabilities, and luxury, the RRS can do it all.

What an awesome ride! The RRS has superior handling on city streets. While out shopping, I had a slight inconvenience occur and had to follow some culprits who were driving a Chevy Impala (Pursuit Package). But let me tell you, this baby gets up and goes! I was highly impressed with the performance of this sweet SUV. The only issues I've had are that the reverse tilt-mirror feature sometimes activates on its own, and the suspension warning light occasionally comes on and won't allow me to change the height of the vehicle without turning it off and then restarting it.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share my experience with my new car. I bought it 2 weeks ago and unfortunately, the stereo and navigation system have been acting up. It's been in the shop for the last week and the service people are still trying to figure out the problem. I'm a bit disappointed, especially since I've always owned BMW's, but I'm hopeful that they'll be able to fix it soon. If you're considering buying this car, I would suggest waiting a year to let them work out any kinks. Since it's a new model, they're still trying to fix problems as they arise. Thanks for listening!

This car has had multiple issues, including the computer system being replaced three times, difficulty driving straight, a leaky and whistling windshield, and the naviscreen being replaced twice. Additionally, the air suspension raises and lowers at unpredictable intervals. It is important to note that the warranty work for this vehicle is estimated to cost around $20,000. Despite these challenges, we are confident in our ability to address any issues that may arise and provide top-notch service to our customers.

I received my HSE in June 05 and unfortunately, I have had nothing but problems since day one. It all culminated in a total suspension collapse at 50 mph. However, the dealership was able to replace my car and I have driven 4k miles without any issues so far. I am keeping my fingers crossed!

I have owned the vehicle for a year and driven approximately 20k miles. Despite having taken it to the shop 8 times for various issues, some of which still remain, I have not been successful in requesting a replacement or refund. The vehicle has experienced problems with brakes, parking sensors, suspension, sway bars, tires, power mirrors, starting, transmission sensor, engine lights, rattles, and more. Based on my experience, I have decided that I will not be purchasing another Range Rover in the future.

I bought my RR Sport brand new in April 2006. Unfortunately, I have had to take it in for service several times due to major issues. It has been towed 3-4 times and I have experienced 5-6 major service problems. If you are considering purchasing a RR Sport, it is important to be aware that you may need to trade it in after the warranty expires. As someone who has been driving for 30 years and owned several different vehicles, both domestic and foreign, I can say that I have never encountered problems like those I have experienced with the Range Rover Sport. I wish I had listened to the warnings I received before purchasing it.
