2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 problems
The Chevrolet Silverado is a range of trucks manufactured by General Motors under the Chevrolet brand. Introduced for the 1999 model year, the Silverado is the successor to the long-running Chevrolet C/K model line. Taking its name from the top trim level from the Chevrolet C/K series, the Silverado is offered as a series of full-size pickup trucks, chassis cab trucks, and medium-duty trucks. The fourth generation of the model line was introduced for the 2019 model year.
The Chevrolet Silverado shares mechanical commonality with the identically related GMC Sierra; GMC ended the use of the C/K nomenclature a model generation prior to Chevrolet. In Mexico, high-trim level versions of the Silverado use the Chevrolet Cheyenne name (not to be confused with the 2003 concept). Competing against the Ford F-Series, Ram Pickup, Toyota Tundra, and Nissan Titan, the Silverado is among the best-selling vehicles in the United States, having sold over 12 million trucks since its introduction in 1998 as a 1999 model year.
History
The Silverado nameplate made its debut for the 1975 model year, becoming the top trim level on all Chevrolet C/K trucks, slotted above Custom Deluxe, Scottsdale, and Cheyenne. For the 1968 model year (seven years before the Silverado), GMC C/K trucks used variations of the Sierra name (Sierra, Sierra Classic, Sierra Grande, and High Sierra). Even after the C/K series officially ended, GM still uses the CK and the CC in their current model codes, to denote a two-wheel drive (CC), and four-wheel drive (CK).
For the 1988 GMT400 model architecture, Chevrolet retained the C/K model nomenclature, with GMC branding its full-size line as Sierras. While sharing the same body and chassis, the model chronology of the Silverado and Sierra are different, with five generations of the Sierra, while four of the Silverado.
In 2018, at the NTEA Work Truck Show in Indianapolis, Indiana, Chevrolet unveiled the first medium-duty Silverado, expanding the model line to a 4500HD, 5500HD, and 6500HD chassis cab. Largely the successor to the 2003–2009 GMT560 chassis, the medium-duty trucks are exclusive to Chevrolet, with no plans for an equivalent GMC version. Instead, Navistar International (now partnering with GM) would sell the medium-duty trucks as a rebadged counterpart, called the CV. This is in fact a very similar nod to how the Avalanche did not have a GMC Yukon–based equivalent, but instead, Cadillac would take its place as the former's rebadged counterpart, the Escalade EXT.

I've owned my 2010 Silverado for around 3 years and it has been an absolute joy to own. Despite putting on 87,000 miles, I've only had to replace the tires and oil. It's a great truck that performs well both on and off the road. The only thing I wish is that it was a bit faster.

I've never written a review before, but I felt this one was well deserved. On my way home from work, I unfortunately hit a full-grown horse at 65mph. It was night time and the horse was black, so I didn't see it coming. Thankfully, my truck had speed control on and the hood bent up, deflecting the horse above the truck instead of into the cab. I'm not sure if this was by design, but I'm grateful nonetheless. The airbag deployed as it should have, and even though I spun 180 degrees, I didn't flip or anything. I walked away with just a small scratch on my thumb. I just wanted to take a moment to thank the engineers at Chevy for the safety measures they have in place for their trucks. I feel incredibly safe in these trucks and will never buy any other brand.

This truck is perfect for our needs! We needed a vehicle to tow our camper, but we also wanted to travel in comfort. This truck provides both and more. I especially love the USB port for my iPod and the dual control A/C, which solves the problem of my husband always freezing me out. The leather seats are a nice touch, and the DIC is a great feature that allows me to watch the fuel management kick in to V4, saving me money. Although the fuel mileage started out low, it has improved as the truck has broken in, and I recently got 20.5 miles per gallon on my way to work, which is right on target with what it states it will get. The ride is very comfortable, and we added step boards to make it easier to climb in. Overall, we are very happy with our purchase!

Congratulations on your purchase of the 2010 Chevrolet Silverado LS Extended Cab 4 x 4! It sounds like you got a great deal at $26,500. I appreciate your support for the American economy. It's great that you did your research and found that the Silverado was the best choice for you. Even though you didn't opt for the LT model, it's still impressive that you're getting around 425 miles on a 26 gallon fuel-up. Enjoy your new truck!

Just purchased a 2010 Silverado, crew cab, Texas Edition. This is a great looking truck, inside and out. I'm very happy with the deal I got and the truck is comfortable and rides great. Although I loved my Camry, I needed a truck and this one fits the bill. I hope this Chevrolet is just as reliable as my Camry was.

I leased a 2011 1500 Ex-Cab 4wd 4.8l 4 WD new in 2011. In 2021, I purchased a 2010 1500 Crew-Cab 4wd 4.8l 4wd. Within the first 30k miles, I noticed that the towing capacity is only 5000lbs, which means towing a mid-size camper is almost at maximum. However, it did okay towing a small landscape trailer. The performance is not great due to the acceleration response delay the pedal communicates to the computer. The power is fair at best, partially caused by the aforementioned issue, but also due to the Flex Fuel design. This design actually stops engine cylinders from firing, which is intended to conserve fuel, but it creates less power and more fuel consumption. Although there are many aftermarket items to repair these issues, tampering with the factory computer's sequential powering system is not recommended. After returning the leased vehicle, I purchased a 2010 with 82,000 miles. Both vehicles performed exactly alike. However, since owning the 2010, I have experienced some small nuisance problems. The driver's seat cushion flattened out so badly that the material was no longer tight, and I had to add foam or replace the bottom of the seat. I chose the foam option due to the price difference but also material match. Now the seat raises me back up, but the seat is very firm. The previous owner and I weigh about 200 lbs. The heater/AC system began to malfunction, and the AC would blink, get stuck on defrost, and lose control of temperature adjustment. The emission system began to show various engine codes that required the Evap purge valve to be replaced, gas cap replacement, and fuel filler tube replacement. Although none of these items were extremely expensive, the constant nuisances were frustrating. I gave it 2 stars because up until this mileage, the powertrain has been fairly reliable. The engine still has the same amount of power, which is a major plus considering its poor performance when new. The transmission still shifts smoothly, and the front end linkage is still fairly tight, providing a comfortable ride. However, it's worth noting that after 2005, the reliability of all vehicles dramatically improved. To sum up the review: this is a great truck for someone needing a small SUV and pickup bed, but I would not recommend it for someone needing the performance of a full-size truck.

Hello! I wanted to share my experience with my 2010 Silverado LTZ. Recently, I noticed a clicking noise while driving that was affecting the engine performance. I took it to the dealership for service, and the mechanics found some damage to the cylinder 1 lifters and camshaft. While I was disappointed to hear this, the service representative was very helpful in explaining my options. I ultimately decided to go with a new engine, which came with a great 3 year, 36,000 mile warranty. I'm happy to report that my truck is running smoothly again with 110,108 miles on it. Thank you for listening to my story!

Hi there! I wanted to share my experience with my 2010 Chevy 4 door Silverado. As retired individuals, we took great care of our truck and even got the extended warranty. Unfortunately, we recently had some issues with the tires and tierods that needed to be replaced, as well as an alignment. It was a bit frustrating, but we took it to the garage and got it all sorted out. Despite these issues, we still have our truck and are grateful for the memories we've made with it. On a side note, we also have a 2001 Ford Explorer that we absolutely love! Thanks for listening.

I'm so glad you got the WT with the towing package for hauling horses! It sounds like it has plenty of power and rides smoothly. And wow, that $6,000 rebate really brought the price down to a steal at $26,800. In my opinion, for the money, it's the best truck you can buy.
