2016 Bmw X6 problems
The BMW X6 is a mid-size luxury crossover SUV by German automaker BMW. The BMW X6 is the originator of the sports activity coupé (SAC), referencing its sloping rear roof design. It combines the attributes of an SUV (high ground clearance, all-wheel drive and all-weather ability, large wheels and tires) with the stance of a coupé (styling featuring a sloping roof). It is built in BMW's North American plant in Greer, South Carolina alongside the BMW X5, whose platform it shares. Prior to the release of the X7, the X6 was considered a flagship SUV for BMW.
The first generation (E71) was released for sale in April 2008 for the 2008 model year, while the second-generation X6 (F16) was launched at the Paris Motor Show in 2014. The third-generation X6 was revealed in July 2019.
BMW Concept X6 (2007)
The concept model debuted at the 2007 Frankfurt Auto Show and the production X6 officially debuted at the 2008 North American International Auto Show in Detroit and Montreal International Auto Show. While slightly longer and wider than the X5, it is significantly lower and seated initially only four, and since 2011, optionally five.

Common 2016 Bmw X6 problems
The BMW X6, a mid-size luxury crossover SUV, has been popular since its introduction in 2008. However, like any vehicle, it has had its share of common problems. This article will discuss some of the most frequently reported issues with the 2016 BMW X6, based on complaints from owners.
- EGR Cooler: One of the most common problems with the 2016 BMW X6 involves the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) cooler. This component has been known to leak, affecting models built between March 2014 and May 2017. If you suspect your X6 is affected, it is recommended to have it inspected by a BMW dealer. If it is indeed affected, you may need to replace the EGR cooler.
- Isofix Mounting Points: Another issue affecting the 2016 BMW X6 is the possibility of one of the Isofix mounting points breaking loose. This issue particularly affects models manufactured between March 2014 and April 2019. If you plan to use a child seat, it is advisable to check if your X6 is affected by this recall, especially if you're planning on fitting a child seat.
- Electric Front Seats and Steering Column: Some owners have reported problems with the adjustment of the electric front seats or the steering column. Both these systems are run by the same switch assembly, which is known for having problems. If there is any hesitancy in adjusting any of these, then the switch assembly is faulty. You will need to fit a replacement switch assembly to fix the problem.
- Tailgate Spoiler: The tailgate spoiler on the 2016 BMW X6 has been known to wobble or vibrate excessively when driving. In extreme cases, it may come off entirely. The problem is caused by an incorrectly bonded rear spoiler, which tends to come loose on the top edge of the tailgate on the right-hand side, where it meets the rear of the roof.
- Diesel Engine Problems: On diesel-engined BMW X6s, there is a part called the swirl flap, which is prone to breaking. If this part breaks, it can allow metal debris into the engine, which can have serious consequences, even leading to a new engine being needed. The best way to check for this problem is by checking around the intake manifold for signs of oil leaks.
- Rattling from Doors: Some owners have reported a rattling noise coming from the doors when driving. This is caused by poor fitment of the door cards, which sounds like a buzzing sound, most noticeable when driving over speed bumps or poorly surfaced roads. The door cards need to be adjusted slightly to make sure they are fitted correctly.
- Handbrake Actuator: Difficulty releasing the handbrake on your X6 is caused by the handbrake actuator failing, a result of a software failure. You will need to have a software update to fix the problem.
These are some of the most common problems reported by owners of the 2016 BMW X6. If you own one and are experiencing any of these issues, it is recommended to have your vehicle inspected by a BMW dealer or a qualified mechanic.

This car is amazing! It's smooth, eye-catching, and fast. The purring sound it makes is like silk running down my head. I absolutely love everything about this car. As an Asian person, I fit perfectly inside with plenty of leg room. The only downside is that it seems a little tall for me. Even though I'm an average-sized Asian person, this car looks taller than me. However, this type of car doesn't need to be 4x4 drive. It's perfect for regular use!

Hey there! In 2015, I bought a brand new BMW X6. Recently, on October 16, 2020, the service shop informed me that the brakes are rusty and need to be replaced. I was quite surprised as the car is only five years old and I drive it frequently in the local community. The mileage is 25,090. I expected the brakes of a high-quality car like BMW to last many years and miles. What do you think?
