The Fiat Doblò is a panel van and leisure activity vehicle produced by Italian automaker Fiat since 2000. It was unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in October 2000. A second-generation Doblò succeeded the original vehicle in 2010 for most markets, and it was sold in the United States as the RAM ProMaster City from 2015 to 2022. The second generation was also sold in Europe and the UK as the Opel/Vauxhall Combo. The third-generation Doblò, a rebadged version of the Citroën Berlingo, was unveiled in June 2022, and is also sold as the Opel or Vauxhall Combo, Peugeot Partner, and Toyota ProAce.

First generation (2000)

It was first launched to the public in the Netherlands, and received the "2006 International Van of the Year" award by an international jury from 19 countries. In Singapore, a 1.4 litre LAV variant is marketed as the Fiat Panorama in five and seven seater versions. The first Doblò was sold in January 2001.

The Doblò carries a payload of up to 730 kg (1,609 lb), with an interior volume of 3.2 cubic metres (110 cu ft). The Doblò uses Fiat Strada's platform, in turn derived from the Fiat Palio's one, using a rigid axle with leaf springs at the rear, instead of a torsion beam with coil springs as on the Palio.

It is manufactured by Fiat's Tofaş subsidiary factory in Bursa, Turkey, in Brazil since 2002 and in Russia and Vietnam. Turkish models have an engine range that includes a 1.4 litre petrol, a 1.9 litre MultiJet, and a 16 valve 1.3 litre MultiJet.

In North Korea, Pyonghwa Motors produces Doblò branded as its own name Ppeokkugi.

The facelift version came in October 2005, and was restyled with modifications to the front and rear light groups, and the total design of the front part.

Negative 2019 Ram Promaster city car reviews

  1. Braulio Purdy 2025-11-16

My first review was on 11/1/16 shortly after purchasing this vehicle. I was unsure of my feelings about it but now I can honestly say I do not like this van. one of my complaints early on was the acceleration. It's a peppy vehicle but the gas petal is way to sensitive and acceleration from a stand still is inconsistent. I've had the vehicle long enough to have gotten used to driving it but sometimes I step on the gas and the van accelerates normally. Other times it moves too quickly and there are times when it seems like it doesn't respond at all. Not a good feeling in busy traffic. Then there is the brake issue I mentioned in my first review. The issue still exists and RAM has no plans to do anything about it. I guess it's not an expensive enough vehicle for them to care about. Every morning when I leave for work my brakes screech like crazy due to the cheap metal they used on the drums and they rust overnight. Either that or the pads have a high metal content and the metal in them rusts. The screeching does go away after driving the vehicle and making a number of stops to "grind" the rust away. On a rainy day I can get thru the screeching period, drive for a while until I reach my destination, get back in the van a few hours later and the brakes screech all over again. This is unacceptable! Since my last review I have realized that this van handles bumps horribly. I have a 12 year old pickup that rides better than this thing. Now I am having electrical/transmission issues and am actually waiting for the local RAM service tech to call me back to arrange to have the van towed for them to evaluate/repair the issue. Maybe it's just my vehicle as I do see positive reviews but I am not happy with it.

  2. Vladimir White 2025-11-16

If you happen to misplace your key, it could cost you over $1100, plus the added expense of towing your vehicle to the dealership. Additionally, a new AC compressor could set you back $1200, not to mention the cost of the part itself. The transmission may also experience bad shifting, and the engine may be weak. It may be best to avoid this particular model, as it seems that Ram is more interested in taking advantage of their customers than providing quality products.

  3. Pablo Zieme 2025-11-09

The vehicle experienced several issues, including a shaking steering wheel that was not aligned with the front wheels and a sliding door on the passenger side that unlatched while driving multiple times. Despite more than four attempts by the service department to solve the steering wheel issue, it remained unresolved. Unfortunately, the Ram Customer Care case manager was unreachable, and my messages were not returned for seven days. While the design of the car is great for small businesses and families, the mechanical quality is very poor. This experience has led me to conclude that this will be my first and last Chrysler/Fiat creation.

  4. Jordi Kemmer 2025-10-25

After test driving several small cargo vans, I ultimately chose the Ram. While I appreciate the ample cargo space, I have noticed some issues with the transmission at low speeds. The engine performance can be awkward and jerky, and the idle is rough when in gear and stopped. However, the air conditioner and defroster work well, and the side doors function properly. I did experience some trouble with the rubber gasket on the rear door, but was able to fix it. Overall, while there are some areas for improvement, I am satisfied with my choice of the Ram.I had hoped that it would 'break in', but unfortunately it did not. If I had not experienced the same issue in the test drive, I would have thought that something was wrong. Overall, the flaws are manageable except for the transmission/engine performance, which is really frustrating and makes the vehicle no fun to drive. In this day and age, everything should be enjoyable to drive.

  5. Randal Bartell 2025-06-20

I've been the proud owner of this van for 4 months and 8000 miles. My vehicle is set up for cargo use with a partition between the front passengers and rear cargo. However, I must say that the van is a bit narrow, which can make it feel a bit cramped. At first glance, the van appears to have ample storage, but the storage shelf above the passengers is shallow and not very useful. The door pockets are big enough, but between the seats, there is only a small cup holder and two outlets (which unfortunately died on me recently). Additionally, anyone taller than 6ft may have a difficult time finding a comfortable driving position. On the bright side, the engine is strong enough, and the entertainment system is fine. The back-up camera is also a nice feature. However, I have recently experienced a rough idle upon a cold start, which is concerning. Overall, I would not recommend this vehicle as I have serious concerns about its reliability.

Positive 2019 Ram Promaster city car reviews

  1. Bo Leuschke 2025-11-20

I absolutely adore my Promaster City Wagon, especially in bright yellow! It may look like a little bread truck/caution sign driving down the road, but it brings me so much joy. I traded in my 1998 Toyota Tacoma with camper shell and 1995 Chevy Lumina minivan for this PMC wagon, and I couldn't be happier with my decision. I love a car that is versatile and perfect for road trips, and this hybrid truck/van monster tops them both! It's incredibly comfortable and fun to drive, and I can easily fit all of my belongings inside. The seats are especially comfortable with the extra lumbar support, and there's plenty of leg room for taller drivers like myself. Plus, the entertainment/computer console with buttons integrated into the steering wheel and built-in hands-free phone calls with Bluetooth make it a breeze to stay connected on the go. Overall, I highly recommend the Promaster City Wagon to anyone in need of a reliable and spacious vehicle.Tons of headroom! You can put your arms straight up and wave them around. The overhead storage is way cool, and the door pockets have clever bottle holders. The construction is good and solid. The sliding doors are light and very slidey, with very clever handles. I love the simplicity and design of the door handles and latches, as well as the combination door handle/lock button in the front seats. The front seating area is cavernous, with a wide-angle view. I want to drive this thing to Alaska to see the wide-open scenery! I think it's quiet. I know it's quiet compared to my Tacoma (which is a noisy little truck) and even compared to the Lumina. Even during a windstorm, I did not feel that the van was too tall or got too much wind noise or battering around. Note that it is wider than your average minivan. A wider track like a jeep might be helping to avoid that too-tall feeling. It corners like a car, not like a van. I have almost 5,000 miles on it so far, and no mechanical problems yet (knock on wood). I am getting about 24 mpg in town and more like 26 on the highway. The best mileage is in 9th gear (85mph and 30 mpg). I have not tried it in the snow yet. As a front-wheel drive, I expect it will do OK, but we'll see. It has a quick disconnect battery! Seriously, you just pull up a big pin. I have been waiting for that for years. My first car was a Studebaker (no, I am not that old...the car was older than me), and I loved my Studebaker because of the simple, functional design. I feel like I have finally bought another Studebaker. You can't beat the combination of price and utility (and I suspect, but we don't know yet because it is a new model...reliability). Driver fatigue is very low in this car due to comfort. The speedometer is oddly off to the left of the dashboard (not centered), and I don't think the trip computer allows you to show a digital speed, which would be handy. What you see in front of you is the date and some other trip info. I think this is funny because the date doesn't change--all day long!Maybe if you're using this as a work van and have to sit in that front seat and do paperwork, you'll appreciate knowing where to find the date. Although I had wanted to buy a car with automatic climate control, this car did not have that option. However, I really don't spend much time fiddling with the temperature controls in this truck anyway. There is an unfortunate blind spot where the panels are in the back/sides that prevents you from seeing, in parking lots, if someone is approaching the back of your car from the side. But don't worry, a backup camera, and audible object detection system help with that. So, the things that I love about the car far outweigh my complaints. I often receive compliments about its looks and potential versatility. My elderly parents find it easy to get in and out of both the front and back seats, thanks to its low step-in height compared to most trucks and higher seat height than most cars. I consider it a FWD SUV, perfect for on-road adventure, a mini dry camper, a daily driver, and a cargo hauler.

  2. Danny Gutmann 2025-04-29

I needed an extra work vehicle and luckily my brother owns a dealership that does a lot of business with Enterprise Rentals. He offered me this van at what I thought was a great deal. While I'm still getting used to it, I'm hopeful that it will be a good fit for my needs. Admittedly, it took me a while to get used to the gas pedal, but I'm slowly getting the hang of it. I've noticed that every morning, especially if it's damp outside, the brakes seem to be a bit sensitive, which can be a bit startling. However, my brother's mechanic has checked them and confirmed that they're in good condition. I'm looking forward to taking it to the dealership for a more thorough inspection and hopefully any issues can be resolved. Overall, I'm optimistic about this van and excited to see how it performs for my work needs.

  3. Kristian Mueller 2025-04-27

I was searching for a versatile vehicle that could haul gear and furniture, while also serving as a recreational vehicle for activities such as biking, kayaking, and camping. I wanted something with decent gas mileage and front-wheel drive that was also fun to drive. After the local Ford dealer didn't have what I was looking for, I found the Promaster City Wagon. It's a shame that the versatile Eurovan hasn't caught on yet, but I'm glad I found this gem. I dislike the lack of space and versatility in minivans and crossovers due to their seating and finish. I recently purchased the Promaster City Wagon for clearing out an estate and for long trips, and it has been a smooth ride so far. There is plenty of headroom and space to bed down for the night or for a long haul. The back seats can be removed or tumbled forward to make more room, making it ideal for one or two people on a long journey. There is also lots of cargo space for moving gear, and a shelf rack above the windshield for additional storage. Although cruise control is not standard, it is a must-have feature. The cargo base is a tin can with two seats, but the City Wagon finishes the back with some plastic and fabric/sound dampening, providing decent fit and finish. However, be forewarned that here in VT and with insurers, it is deemed a truck/commercial vehicle, which costs around $100 more to insure for a year. I am hoping to get better gas mileage after the break-in period. Currently, it gets around 23 mpg on the highway. The four-speaker stereo is a little tinny, but it is nice to take calls and play tunes via Bluetooth, a new trick for this old dog, and I like the backup camera. The City Wagon was in short supply, so I had to take what was on the lot. Fortunately, it had an okay set of features, including a camera, stereo, Bluetooth, and cruise control. Unfortunately, I was unable to procure the rear defrost and wiper package. When driving in the rain, I have to use the side mirrors, which fold in for parking. So far, I have received lots of compliments and head turns around town.Good sight lines, although somewhat exposed, like you are driving around in a fishbowl. The roof rack is an additional extra, but the seat is comfortable, even for a big guy like me. Some people have mentioned that the driving position is strange, but I don't mind it with my 33

  4. Johnny Pouros 2025-02-01

I've rented this van three times now and, until this current time, I noticed some comfort features lacking. First off, I'm a repair guy and I own an Avalanche truck, which can pack all my tools and pull a trailer no problem. MPG is my problem. So, the first time I rented one was in December of 2015, right after they came out. I also have a catering company and my truck was in the shop. It handled my equipment well and I was pleased. The second time, I had to pack my daughter for college and drive about 500 miles. I got about 27mpg, and that was mostly freeway. This last time, I noticed things that I hadn't before. There is a lack of two armrests, which seems like it should be commonplace, especially for a cargo van. The ability to rest your arms on the door armrest area is just a bit too far away. Your forearm is on it but your elbow is off, and if you shift towards the door, your I rented the cargo version which unfortunately doesn't have second row seats. However, the cargo area has a nice 12vdc plug which is a great feature. It's worth noting that the two plugs in the front are not 'live' unless the key is on, so you can't charge phones, tablets, etc. unless the van is on, which is a bit of a bummer. The standard rims and tires are also a bit weak. I've been searching for a van like this for the past year, but unless the Tradesman SLT has more comfort features, I'm not completely sold. On the plus side, I do like the towing feature, which is not compatible with the Chevy and Nissan but is with the Transit. As I'm on the road all day with a co-worker, these minor details are actually major for me.

  5. Kobe Ratke 2025-01-23

I completely agree with the points made in the previous three reviews. In my experience working in the service industry, the vehicle has been flawless for the first year and 25,000 miles. To avoid any potential 'clunky' performance, I highly recommend using the manual shift mode, which is very smooth. The transmission tends to seek higher gears too quickly and stay in them for too long, but I have found that staying in the gear that gives you 2000 RPM - which is usually 5th gear up to 40mph and 7th gear (out of 9 gears) for highway driving at 70mph - provides the best performance. Although my seats are manual, they are still very comfortable. Additionally, there is plenty of cargo room, and doing away with the cage provides ample space in the front cab for one person and extends leg room.
