Overview
The XT6 (short for Crossover Touring 6) is Cadillac’s third crossover SUV, and the largest in Cadillac's XT series, slotted between the XT5 and the full size SUV Escalade. The XT6 is produced at GM's Spring Hill, Tennessee plant, while the Chinese-market XT6 is manufactured in Shanghai by SAIC-GM. The XT6 went on sale in Russia in February 2020. It also went on sale in Japan in early 2020 with one trim level, six-passenger seating, and left hand drive configuration.
While it serves as the high luxury counterpart to the mid-size 3-row Chevrolet Traverse and Buick Enclave in the crossover SUV segment, the XT6 shares its wheelbase with the mid-size GMC Acadia, Cadillac XT5, and the Chinese version of the Chevrolet Blazer. Cadillac describes the XT6 as a “mid-size plus” vehicle as they see the XT5 as their primary mid-size CUV.

- Summary: Car started and ran at idle for 5 minutes. 10 minutes later when attempting to restart, the engine churned for several seconds then ran for about 2 seconds and cut out. "Press to Start" button remained showing green and would not respond to being pressed. The car was stationary in my garage; this would have been extremely dangerous if it happened on the highway. It seems to be a complete failure of the fuel system on a 2021 model with under 27,000 miles

- Summary: The vehicle's check engine light came on late afternoon and then started with a delayed turn over, but not actually starting thr following day. The vehicle had to be towed to the dealership. The technician and service advisor commented immediately that it is likely the fuel pump control module. With the commentary about the likely cause was that this is a widespread issue among GM vehicles. Thankfully, the vehicle was at home when it stopped starting but the transition from check engine to stopping operation was almost immediate.

- Summary: In April 2023 I was backing out of a parking space when a message displayed on the dash that “The Parking Assist Have Been Blocked, See Owner’s Manual “. In this event there were pedestrians walking behind my vehicle and if not for my cautions always while backing could have caused an accident. This has since been intermittently happening and I have taken it in to the dealer 2 times without repair.

- Summary: The problem is the fuel pump control module is faulty and broke twice now. The car was purchased in 2021, new. Within months the fuel pump control module failed while I was driving in traffic, in an elementary school zone with children all around. I tried to drive through an intersection when without warning the car abruptly stopped causing the cars behind me to swerve to avoid a collision. Good samaritans had to push it far out of the way due to the children crossing. I was told by Sawgrass Cadillac that it was the fuel pump control module that has a short starving the car for fuel without warning because it is an electrical issue. It was fixed, until July 4, 2023 when again while in traffic the engine light came on, the car shuddered and then abruptly stopped. Cars around me swerved, nearly colliding into me with my daughter in the car. Sawgrass Cadillac again said it is the fuel pump control module that they are looking to replace it again. This is a design failure, one that is well known and documented all over the internet. This design needs to be recalled before someone is killed because if I had made it to the highway and this happened who knows what could have happened. I will not drive the car, it is a life safety issue that is cannot be repaired away, it needs to be completely redesigned. The dealer is aware, but you can contact them for further information. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V709000 (Back Over Prevention) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 7,000. Parts distribution disconnect.

- Summary: The Sunroof popped and shattered. I was on the highway with very light traffic - cars were at least 200 feet apart - when I heard a loud boom and then felt and saw the sunroof cover start vibrating. It was not the small smack of a rock - it was a loud pop and I wondered if my muffler had just fallen off the car. But when the sunroof started vibrating I knew that my sunroof was gone. I had not opened the sunroof that day, which is rare for me since I like to have the sun shining through, therefore, no glass fell into the car. Since there was no one behind me I do not think glass flew into traffic behind me. It was a normal, hot September day in Texas, nothing abnormally hot or cold. I have not changed or altered any stereo or other equipment in the vehicle.

I have purchased two Cadillacs Xt6 and Xt5 May 2021. Both vehicles have the same problem. Wife will not drive the new Cadillac. Service bulletin published sbout this same problem, December 2020. Still no resolution, June 2021.

- Summary: General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2020-2021 Cadillac XT5, XT6, and GMC Acadia vehicles equipped with the optional Surround Vision feature. The rearview camera coaxial cable connectors may have been crimped improperly, causing the rearview camera to fail or function intermittently.
- Consequence: An inoperative rearview camera can reduce the driver's rear visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: Dealers will replace the coaxial cables, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 18, 2023. Owners may contact Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N222378380.

- Consequence: Improperly attached and seated fuel supply lines may loosen or separate, causing a fuel leak and increasing the risk of a fire.

I previously owned a 2019 GMC Yukon and was really craving a more luxurious and smoother ride. This Cadillac checked all the boxes and more. Plus, I had a great experience with the salesman at Hendrick Cadillac in Cary, NC.

The car is excellent overall, although it could benefit from better navigation and cup holders. Additionally, the backup camera's performance is subpar in bright sunlight.

I've had this car for about a month and have already put 1,000 miles on it. The highway mileage is over 25mpg and the city mileage is close to 19mpg, which is great. The fit and finish are superb, and there are lots of options to choose from. The interior is very quiet, even at highway speeds, and it rides smoothly over road imperfections. My wife and I both love this car. We bought it for a little over $43k, which is a great deal considering it had a $72.5k sticker when new. Overall, it's a very solid vehicle.

I wasn't necessarily in the market for a Cadillac, but when I laid eyes on the XT6 Sport, I couldn't help but fall head over heels. What can I say? It was love at first sight!

The fit and finish of the vehicle is exceptional and the ride is marvelous. However, we have experienced some issues with the top-end electronic package, which has been a disappointment. Unfortunately, it has not worked since the day it was delivered and we have had to take the car in and out of the service department over 6 times. The computer on the car has a flaw that can cause it to 'go out' while driving, make the camera go blank when parking, or simply not recognize the key or identity. While the technicians have been unable to diagnose the problem, the dealership has been working hard to resolve the issue. We have had modules and cables replaced, software re-installed, and even blamed their own APP for the issues. We understand that these things can happen, but for the money invested in this vehicle, we expected a better service experience. We hope that the dealership can resolve the issue soon and we can enjoy our car to the fullest.

I hope you're doing well! I wanted to share my experience with the 2020 XT6 Platinum since 12/20 with the 3.6L V6. I only drive 8K-9K miles a year in a metropolitan environment but I have needed to change the full synthetic Dexos oil every 4-5 months. When I asked the service reps about this, they just smiled and said that his wife's XT5 has the same issue. Along with this and the bubbled dash, busted seam on the driver's seat and recalls; I have become very well known at two of our local Cadillac service departments in the Bay Area. They know me by face recognition. Despite these issues, the SUV has been comfortable, safe and quiet. Although, when I needed to accelerate, the engine howls loudly but nothing really happens for a good 1-2 seconds. You would expect the car to launch like a warplane at the growl of this unrefined engine. Thank you for taking the time to read my experience!
