DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT MANY OTHER 2010 AUDI Q5'S HAVE THE SAME ISSUE AND IMPLIED THIS IS PROBABLY WHY MY SUNROOF MOTOR IS NOT FUNCTIONING ANYMORE DUE TO WATER GETTING IN AND THEY QUOTED ME $2500 TO FIX THIS MANUFACTURE FLAW. FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2020-09-01
  • VIN: WA1LKAFP1AA
  • Components: FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
  • Summary: I HAVE A 2010 AUDI Q5 THAT IS LEAKING GAS ON THE GROUND WHILE ENGINE IS RUNNING WHILE SITTING STILL OR DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD.. I REMOVED THE PASSENGER REAR SEAT WHICH IS DIRECTLY ON TOP OF WHERE THE LEAK IS COMING FROM. I THEN REMOVED THE ACCESS PANEL FOR THE FUEL PUMP . GAS WAS SITTING ON TOP OF THE FUEL PUMP IN PUDDLES. I DECIDED TO START THE CAR WITH THE ACCESS PANEL REMOVED TO SEE WHERE EXACTLY THE LEAK WAS COMING FROM AND HOW BIG OF LEAK IT WAS. UPON STARTING THE ENGINE GAS SPRAYED DIRECTLY OUT OF THE TOP OF THE FUEL PUMP'S WHITE PLASTIC DOME TOP, NOT THE FUEL PUMP FLANGE. PERIMETER. IT IS A LARGE LEAK, IT SPRAYS LIKE A GEYSER UNHINDERED HITTING THE TOP OF THE ACCESS PANEL AND RUNNING ONTO THE GROUND. YOU CAN SEE VISIBLE CRACKS IN THE TOP OF THE FUEL PUMP. MY GAS MILEAGE WHICH WAS 21 MPG PER TANK IS NOW14 MPG ON LAST FILL UP SO MY GUESS IS ABOUT 7 GALLONS OF GAS LEAKS ONTO THE GROUND PER FILL UP. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE IN THIS CONDITION AND THE FUMES ARE OVERWHELMING IN THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE AND IF YOU ROLL DOWN THE WINDOW THE SMELL GETS WORSE...IN THE PICS UPLOADED YOU CAN SEE THE SPRAY AND VISIBLE CRACKS.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2020-08-19
  • VIN: WA1LKAFP4AA
  • Components: FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
  • Summary: I NOTICED A FUEL SMELL EMANATING FROM THE REAR SEAT AREA ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE, A 2010 AUDI Q% WITH 104,500 MILES. THIS WAS NOTICEABLE BOTH WHILE DRIVING AND STATIONARY WHILE PARKED IN THE GARAGE. AFTER FURTHER INVESTIGATION I VISUALLY SAW FUEL DROPS AROUND THE REAR PASSENGER SEAT ON THE BOTTOM OF THE VEHICLE. I VISITED THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY SAFETY WEBSITE AND FOUND A RECALL THAT MATCHED THE SYMTOMS I DESCRIBED ABOVE. I CONTACTED MY AUDI DEALER AND THEY INDICATED A FIX FOR THAT RECALL WAS COMPLETED IN 2016 ON MY VEHICLE. I AM NOT SURE WHAT WAS ACCOMPLISHED BUT IT SEEMS IT DIDN'T WORK. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY THE AUDI SERVICE DEPARTMENT THAT THE FUEL FLANGE AND VARIOUS OTHER ITEMS WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED. AS THIS IS A SAFETY ITEM AND THE CAR CAN'T BE DRIVEN UNTIL REPAIRED I AUTHORIZED THE REPAIR AT SUBSTANTIAL EXPENSE. I FEEL AS IF A TEMPORARY FIX WAS COMPLETED IN 2016 AND NOT A PERMANENT FIX WHICH SHOULD HAVE BEEN ACCOMPLISHED.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2017-08-01
  • VIN: WA1LKAFP0AA
  • Components: FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
  • Summary: RECALL 20W9 - IN LATE JULY OF 2017 I NOTICED A VERY STRONG SMELL OF FUEL IN MY CAR. I TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL REPAIR SHOP ON 8/1/19 AS I COULD NO LONGER TOLERATE THE STRONG SMELL AND BECAME VERY WORRIED OF MY CAR EXPLODING. THEY FOUND THAT MY FUEL FLANGE WAS BROKEN. I DID NOT KNOW THERE WAS AN OPEN RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM. IT WAS ONLY AFTER I RECEIVED A RECALL ON MY AIRBAG IN DECEMBER 2018, AND TOOK IT AS INSTRUCTED TO MY AUDI DEALER, THAT I WAS TOLD THERE WAS AN OPEN RECALL. I CALLED AUDI AND ASKED WHAT I NEEDED TO DO AS I ALREADY HAD THE REPAIR MADE. I WAS TOLD AUDI WOULD REIMBURSE ME. I THEN RECEIVED A DENIAL LETTER FROM AUDI DATED 2/1/19. I CALLED AUDI AND WAS TOLD I WAS DENIED BECAUSE I DIDN'T TAKE IT TO A DEALERSHIP THAT WAS WITHIN 15 MILES FROM MY HOME. I EXPLAINED TO THEM THAT WHAT SHE SAID WAS THE DENIAL IS DIFFERENT THAN WHAT WAS STATED IN THE LETTER. THE DENIAL LETTER STATES "THE REIMBURSEMENT PERIOD FOR THIS SAFETY RECALL HAS ENDED." YOU WILL NOTE ON THE TOP OF THE INVOICE I SUBMITTED THAT I DID NOT TAKE IT TO HAVE THE FUEL FLANGE REPAIRED (WHICH WAS THE RECALL). IT CLEARLY STATES MY REASON FOR CONCERN - CK FOR GAS FUMES/REAR HATCH AREA . SHE THEN CALLED ME BACK ON 2/14/19 AND STATED SHE DID "INTERNAL RESEARCH" AND THE REIMBURSEMENT PERIOD FOR THIS RECALL HAD ENDED. THEY WOULD NOT BE REIMBURSING ME. SHE STATED I COULD APPEAL TO MY LOCAL AUDI DEALER THAT I HAD TO HAVE AN EMERGENCY REPAIR AND WHY I COULDN'T TAKE IT TO MY LOCAL AUDI DEALER TO HAVE THIS ISSUE FIXED. I THEN STARTED RECEIVING EMAILS AND NOTICES IN THE MAIL TO HAVE THIS ISSUE FIXED AT MY LOCAL AUDI DEALER. HOWEVER, IT WAS NOT UNTIL AFTER I HAD MY AIR BAG RECALL REPLACED THAT I STARTED RECEIVING THESE NOTICES. I HAD NO IDEA THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM. I HAD NO CHOICE AT THE TIME TO HAVE THE REPAIR MADE AT MY NORMAL REPAIR SHOP AS IT CAUSED A SIGNIFICANT HAZARD TO ME.

2010 Audi Q5 recalls

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued 4 recalls for different components of the 2010 Audi Q5.

2018-11-19
  • Manufacturer: Volkswagen Group of America, Inc.
  • Components: FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:FUEL PUMP
  • Summary: Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain 2007-2012 Audi Q7 and 2009-2012 Audi Q5 vehicles, previously repaired under NHTSA recall 16V-660. These vehicles were previously repaired with an interim repair of installing butyl tape to the fuel pump flange, until replacement remedy parts became available.
  • Consequence: The butyl tape may not prevent fuel from leaking. A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source can increase the risk of a fire.
  • Remedy: Volkswagen will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fuel pump flange and install butyl tape, free of charge. The recall began December 28, 2018. Owners may contact Audi customer service at 1-800-253-2834. Volkswagen's number for this recall is 20BJ.

Upon deployment of the driver's frontal air bag, excessive internal pressure may cause the inflator to explode.
  • Consequence: In the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the driver's frontal air bag, the inflator could explode with metal fragments striking the vehicle occupants potentially resulting in serious injury or death.
  • Remedy: Audi will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver's frontal air bag inflator with an alternative inflator, free of charge. The recall began February 23, 2018. Owners may contact Volkswagen customer service at 1-800-253-2834. Volkswagen's number for this recall is 69R6. Note: This recall partially supersedes recall 16V-078.

  • Summary: Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain model year 2009-2012 Audi Q5, and 2007-2012 Audi Q7 vehicles equipped with gasoline engines. The fuel pump flange on the affected vehicles may crack, allowing fuel to leak.
  • Consequence: A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire.
  • Remedy: Audi will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the flange, replacing any flanges that are cracked. If the flange is not cracked, dealers will clean the pump flange and install a butyl rubber band to protect the pump. These repairs will be made free of charge. The recall began November 9, 2016. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain model year 2010-2014 Golf, 2007-2010 Passat sedans and wagon, 2012-2014 Passat sedan and Eos, 2009-2014 CC, 2009-2012 Audi Q5, 2010-2012 S5 Cabriolet and 2010-2012 Audi A5 Cabriolet vehicles. Upon deployment of the driver's frontal air bag, excessive internal pressure may cause the inflator to rupture.
  • Consequence: In the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the driver's frontal air bag, the inflator could rupture with metal fragments striking the vehicle occupants potentially resulting in serious injury or death.
  • Remedy: Volkswagen will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver's frontal air bag inflators, free of charge. Volkswagen issued an interim notification to owners on April 12, 2016, and will send a second notification when parts are available. Volkswagen will notify owners again once parts are available. Volkswagen owners may contact Volkswagen customer service at 1-800-893-5298. Audi owners may contact Audi customer service at 1-800-253-2834.

Negative 2010 Audi Q5 car reviews

  1. Mervin Hirthe 2025-01-04

The Q5 is a good car, but I did have to take it in to have the transmission reprogrammed in the second week of owning it. Additionally, the side mirrors are quite large and create some blind spots.

  2. Zack Nolan 2024-03-10

Although I have owned this car for less than a year, I have decided to sell it. The gas mileage is disappointing, as it claims to get 450 miles on a full tank of gas, but in reality, it only gets around 300 miles (if you're lucky). Additionally, the 20-gallon tank requires premium fuel, which can be expensive with recent gas prices. While this car may require a significant investment to maintain its luxury status, it does offer some impressive features when they are functioning properly. However, I would recommend considering a Honda instead.

Positive 2010 Audi Q5 car reviews

I used to drive a 2008 BMW X5 and didn't enjoy its performance, comfort, quality, or reliability. However, the Audi Q5 exceeded my expectations, particularly in the way it handles extreme road conditions, accelerates when passing, and drives uphill with ease. Overall, it's the best SUV I've ever driven, surpassing even the BMW X5. The only minor issue I encountered was the way it drives under 10 mph.

I'm glad to hear that you're enjoying the interior and handling of your Audi! It sounds like it's been a pleasant surprise for you. While you're still getting used to the iDrive feature, I'm sure you'll eventually get the hang of it. It can take a little while to get used to new technology, but I'm confident that you'll be navigating it like a pro in no time. Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us!

I ordered my Q5 Prestige Pkg Audi on 27 Jul and it finally arrived on 3 Nov. I must say, the wait was worth it! If you're looking for a great looking SUV with the best handling, ride, and appearance of all the mid-size SUVs (BMW/Lexus etc), then the Q5 is the perfect choice. I highly recommend getting the S-line pkg, as the 20 inch chrome wheels put the finishing touch on this black beauty. The engine has enough power to satisfy even the most demanding driving habits, and my wife loves the way it handles and rides. As a loyal Audi owner, we were qualified for a $1K loyalty discount. The Q5's Quattro suspension system is truly remarkable, providing a first-class dynamic 505 watt sound system. If you're tired of seeing yourself at every traffic-light and/or parking space, then you should definitely try the Q5.

It sounds like you really found your dream car with the Q5! Even though you had already made a deal on a BMW X3, it seems like the Q5 was the one that truly captured your heart. It's great to hear that you're enjoying driving it so much, especially since you spend a lot of time on the road. The cockpit sounds like it's a particularly nice feature, especially at night. Overall, it sounds like you made the right choice with the Q5!

I recently upgraded my car to the 2010 Q5 Premium Plus model with the S-Line package from my previous Honda Accord coupe. I am absolutely loving the smooth ride, the quiet engine, and the quick acceleration. Despite switching from a coupe to a crossover, the transition has been seamless. The car is nimble and can easily fit into standard parking spaces, yet it feels much larger on the road. Additionally, it offers excellent visibility from all sides. Although I didn't opt for the optional side assist feature, I still feel confident with the views I have.
