- Summary: My truck was part of a recall regarding my water pump and coolant leaking. I went for service at the Naperville Audi dealership and they basically gave me the run around and didn’t honor the recall lied and said they replaced my thermostat and never did. - Summary: Recently purchased a used vehicle from this dealership that there is a major issue with the drive train including the cv axel and also an issue with the tires that are on the vehicle. One of the tires had gone flat so I took it to the local Les Schwab to have it inspected and was told that I could not repaired it and that they could not sell me and put on the one tire because the vehicle manufacturer size was not met and that it can cause a danger on my 2015 Audi Q5 premium plus. The tire size that was on the vehicle that was purchased is 255/35ZR19, the manufacturers size is 235/55R19 per the les Schwab it can damage the vehicle and decrease the performance of the function of the vehicle which also impacts the speedometer reading and also the mileage tracking adding additional strain on the vehicle as well as decreasing its value faster. The vehicle is an all-wheel drive car and have the incorrect size is a safety concern as well as increasing the amount of mile that are driven that are artificial, also messing with the speedometer reading to have to go 10 mile over the limit to make it go the correct speed, this makes the computer think the vehicle is driving more mile than it is. I have informed the dealer of the issues, and they have refused to help and state that there is nothing to be concerned about. This information was not disclosed to me when purchasing the vehicle.

- VIN: WA1LFAFP9DA
- Components: SUSPENSION,STRUCTURE
- Summary: The rear subframe has plastic "stone guards" to protect the frame from being damaged in off-road conditions. Where these stone guards are attached, the subframe has rotted/rusted large holes. Water and salt from winter seasons can get trapped behind these guards. A subframe on a vehicle at this age should NOT have complete holes rotted through. Let alone a vehicle brand such as Audi, known for quality. The rear subframe connects the rear suspension and AWD drivetrain to the unibody of the vehicle. This is a major safety concern. It has not been inspected by the manufacturer; my Audi dealer denied this could happen. I am part of a few Audi groups/forums with others facing the same issues, and Audi replacing the subframe under the corrosion warranty. This is a widespread issue amongst the forums. There are no warnings or symptoms as of yet. I noticed the holes 3/17/24. The vehicle has been somewhat sufficient to operate. I just don't want to be traveling down the road with my family in the vehicle if the subframe collapses. I am afraid to fully remove the stone guards as others on the forums claimed that Audi would do nothing for them after removing the guards. Being that they are "protection".

- Summary: On 06/13/24, milage 61023, I experienced a failure in Left Tail Light. There was no damage to the housing unit, ie a crack in the lighting unit, but I was advised that the entire housing unit needed to be replaced as there was water in the housing unit that corroded the light socket for the led light. The repair was $470.00 for parts and $100 in labor subtotal $570.00 before tax and a dealer discount of $57. 03 total $541.51. I was shocked that it was over $500 to replace a brake light. Then 09/12/24, milage 63515, (3) months and 2,492 miles later I experienced a failure in the Right Tail Light. Again, there was no damage to the housing unit and I was advised that the entire housing unit needed to be replaced as there was water in the housing unit that corroded the light socket for the led light. This repair was provided to me with a dealer discount to the price after tax $481.59. When I asked if this was a recall item I was told no it is not. I asked if there was after-market replacement part as this seems to be a product defect I was told no there are no after-market parts available. I was told that these parts are kept in stock as this is a know issue for all Audi's with the tail brake lights close to the bumper. This is a safety issue as you can not drive the car with a defective brake light. I called Audi USA and reported my complaint and asked for some compensation but more importantly wanted to document this safety issue and after review was offered $200 off future repairs at my local dealer. This is safety issue and there is no reason to pay $1,023.10 for required brake lights repair due to housing unit that does not keep moisture out.

- Summary: The comfort control module in the trunk of the car was sitting in water due to an ingress of water coming in the car. The car would not start due to this water ingress and could have shut off completely on the freeway or while driving. This caused my car to completely shut off and malfunction. There were no warning lamps or messages of the problem. I found out about the problem by taking the car to the Audi dealership. They originally thought the problem was the gateway module which has already been recalled due to the same problem of an ingress of water. The Audi dealership has claimed that the ingress of water is from a clogged drain pipe in the sunroof. They said there is nothing you can do to prevent this from happening.

The sensor failed due to poor design, metal-to-metal ball and socket linkage in a corrosion-assured location under the car. When the metal-to-metal ball and socket corroded and froze, resulting load caused the sensor linkage to break. A search of Audi forums indicates that this problem is not uncommon, and this same sensor design is used in other Audi models and variants.

- Summary: My dealer informed me during a routine inspection that the rear coils springs were about to break and needed replacement at only 66653 miles. Web search revealed many others who have actually failed. Manufacturer will not cover 'out of warranty' repair. As a mechanical engineer with 45 years in the light vehicle industry - 30 in safety - I can say that coil springs do not routinely fail, especially at this mileage. If the do fail at speed I'd certainly expect potential loss of control by the surprised diver.

Vehicle year: 2018
I bought my car in November 2017 and have been really pleased with it. Unfortunately, in August 2018 (at 13K miles), the engine self-destructed. Audi is currently replacing the engine, but I have been without a loaner vehicle for almost a week now. I was hoping for better customer service given the severity of the issue, but the dealership has been less than helpful.

Best all round SUV for the price. This is our 3rd leased Audi Q5 and we intend to purchase this one at the end of the lease. We looked at and test drove all the premium SUVs, from Alfa Romeo to Porsche, and we couldn't find a better all-around performer than the Q5.

Vehicle year: 2012
It's amazing how fun this car is to drive! I've been averaging over 25 mpg in mixed driving, with a high of 29 and a low of 23. The transmission is so quiet and smooth that unless I'm really pushing it, I don't even notice the shifts. Plus, I've had virtually no oil loss since my last oil change (7000 plus miles). I highly recommend getting the Audi Care Package, as service costs can be quite high.

I'm almost at my one-year anniversary with the Q5 and I must say, I absolutely love the ride! It sits well and handles great in the snow. However, I have had some trouble with the MMI system that controls the navigation and entertainment. While it's not the most intuitive system, it does have both a joystick on the console and controls on the steering wheel (once you figure out which dial to roll). I find it a bit confusing and distracting, and it's a shame that there's no touch screen. Unfortunately, I get frustrated every time I try to use it. The manual doesn't help much either, as some things aren't explained clearly or aren't included. Despite this, I still have a great overall feeling about the car.

This is a fantastic car to own and drive. I've had it for 3 months now and have already put about 3500 miles on it. As many other reviews have reported, this SUV rides smoothly and feels fast, making it a lot of fun to drive. The interior is extremely quiet and the sunroof is huge, adding to the overall enjoyment of the ride.

Vehicle year: 2014
I purchased my first Q5 in 2010 (3.2, in Canada) and unfortunately had to sell it when I moved overseas. When I returned to the US, I decided to lease another Q5 since my first experience was so great. However, I have noticed a decline in the quality of the Q5. For instance, the check engine light came on at just 3000 miles and I had to make multiple trips to the dealer to have it fixed. Additionally, the rear tire started showing low pressure and again, I had to make multiple trips to have it fixed. To make matters worse, the other rear tire burst while I was driving on the highway at high speed. I was lucky to not be hurt, but it was a scary experience. When I called Audi roadside assistance, I was on hold for 30 minutes before finally receiving help. When I got home, the dealer was not even responsive to my request to have the tire replaced. I was not expecting a free replacement, but I was willing to pay for a new tire myself. I was disappointed with the lack of customer service.

This car does not have a spare tire! I recently upgraded from my 2014 Audi Q5 to a 2021 Q5 and I must say, I am impressed. The 2021 model drives just as well as the 2014, is just as roomy (which is great for me as I am 6'6

Be prepared for the possibility of having to fix or repair something frequently. It seems that Audi has incorporated too many unnecessary features into the system that you rely on to start the motor and run from your house to the store. If they kept the engine and transmission separate and on a system of its own, and didn't make everything so complicated, they would corner the market. However, with all the systems combined and utilizing all these grounds and fuses and systems to check systems, it can be overwhelming. The mere application of two fuel pumps, and when one goes out, it does not run at all, is insane. I have run 10,000 horsepower top fuel motors with one fuel pump. Your 270hp Audi isn't so special that it needs two. I have built 2000 hp street cars that run on one fuel pump. Then replacing the pump is totally insane. Both the one on the motor and the one in the tank are impossible to get to without breaking your new pump when you go to put it back in. The ground for the starter is always coming loose, and putting the ground under the car where you cannot get to it without tearing the car apart is insane. The serpentine tensioner went on mine twice in a 10k mile interval. My blower motor relay went twice because you cover the inlet with a flimsy piece of plastic. Water always gets into my 50k dollar Q5 through the heater air inlet. The alternator was the only easy thing to get to, and I had to do it on my back. For a car so expensive, I would expect much higher attention to quality and craftsmanship. As mentioned above, I have built engines and cars for the best of the best. When you build cars for people, you take pride in making everything easily accessible and repairable. Audi makes everything complex and impossible to repair or rebuild. This doesn't necessarily improve the quality of their product, but rather makes it less appealing to the average consumer who simply wants a car that will start, run, and get them from point A to point B. All the extra features are likely to break and become useless, as they make the vehicle difficult to work on.

I've been driving my 2015 Audi Q5 for about a year now, after replacing my beloved 2009 Acura RDX. The Audi is a beautifully finished and extremely comfortable vehicle. Although I've had some minor issues with rattles and noises, including having to change the hinges on the rear passenger door. I do miss some of the technology that I had in my Acura, like knowing the tire pressure in each tire. Additionally, I find the Bluetooth entertainment system a bit unfriendly to use, and the audio response quite poor. Sometimes, the numbers are wrong, and you can say 'six' and end up with a seven in the number. However, the handling is good, and I've grown to really like my Audi over time. If you're looking for a good, comfortable car, this one is for you. Although, if you're looking for the latest technology, the Audi may not be your vehicle of choice. Update: Unfortunately, after multiple recalls and driving the car since November with the electronic cooling system disconnected (by an Audi Dealer) with no fix in sight, I have gotten rid of the car. The loss from the initial purchase is over 60%.

Frequent disconnections of wireless Apple CarPlay. Audi is aware that this is a common issue, but unfortunately, there is no fix at the moment. Despite this setback, we remain confident in Audi's ability to address this issue in the future.
