- Summary: My truck was part of a recall regarding my water pump and coolant leaking. I went for service at the Naperville Audi dealership and they basically gave me the run around and didn’t honor the recall lied and said they replaced my thermostat and never did. - Summary: Recently purchased a used vehicle from this dealership that there is a major issue with the drive train including the cv axel and also an issue with the tires that are on the vehicle. One of the tires had gone flat so I took it to the local Les Schwab to have it inspected and was told that I could not repaired it and that they could not sell me and put on the one tire because the vehicle manufacturer size was not met and that it can cause a danger on my 2015 Audi Q5 premium plus. The tire size that was on the vehicle that was purchased is 255/35ZR19, the manufacturers size is 235/55R19 per the les Schwab it can damage the vehicle and decrease the performance of the function of the vehicle which also impacts the speedometer reading and also the mileage tracking adding additional strain on the vehicle as well as decreasing its value faster. The vehicle is an all-wheel drive car and have the incorrect size is a safety concern as well as increasing the amount of mile that are driven that are artificial, also messing with the speedometer reading to have to go 10 mile over the limit to make it go the correct speed, this makes the computer think the vehicle is driving more mile than it is. I have informed the dealer of the issues, and they have refused to help and state that there is nothing to be concerned about. This information was not disclosed to me when purchasing the vehicle.

- VIN: WA1LFAFP9DA
- Components: SUSPENSION,STRUCTURE
- Summary: The rear subframe has plastic "stone guards" to protect the frame from being damaged in off-road conditions. Where these stone guards are attached, the subframe has rotted/rusted large holes. Water and salt from winter seasons can get trapped behind these guards. A subframe on a vehicle at this age should NOT have complete holes rotted through. Let alone a vehicle brand such as Audi, known for quality. The rear subframe connects the rear suspension and AWD drivetrain to the unibody of the vehicle. This is a major safety concern. It has not been inspected by the manufacturer; my Audi dealer denied this could happen. I am part of a few Audi groups/forums with others facing the same issues, and Audi replacing the subframe under the corrosion warranty. This is a widespread issue amongst the forums. There are no warnings or symptoms as of yet. I noticed the holes 3/17/24. The vehicle has been somewhat sufficient to operate. I just don't want to be traveling down the road with my family in the vehicle if the subframe collapses. I am afraid to fully remove the stone guards as others on the forums claimed that Audi would do nothing for them after removing the guards. Being that they are "protection".

- Date Of Incident: 2024-06-13
- Date Complaint: 2024-09-23
- VIN: WA1BNAFY3J2
- Components: EXTERIOR LIGHTING
- Summary: On 06/13/24, milage 61023, I experienced a failure in Left Tail Light. There was no damage to the housing unit, ie a crack in the lighting unit, but I was advised that the entire housing unit needed to be replaced as there was water in the housing unit that corroded the light socket for the led light. The repair was $470.00 for parts and $100 in labor subtotal $570.00 before tax and a dealer discount of $57. 03 total $541.51. I was shocked that it was over $500 to replace a brake light. Then 09/12/24, milage 63515, (3) months and 2,492 miles later I experienced a failure in the Right Tail Light. Again, there was no damage to the housing unit and I was advised that the entire housing unit needed to be replaced as there was water in the housing unit that corroded the light socket for the led light. This repair was provided to me with a dealer discount to the price after tax $481.59. When I asked if this was a recall item I was told no it is not. I asked if there was after-market replacement part as this seems to be a product defect I was told no there are no after-market parts available. I was told that these parts are kept in stock as this is a know issue for all Audi's with the tail brake lights close to the bumper. This is a safety issue as you can not drive the car with a defective brake light. I called Audi USA and reported my complaint and asked for some compensation but more importantly wanted to document this safety issue and after review was offered $200 off future repairs at my local dealer. This is safety issue and there is no reason to pay $1,023.10 for required brake lights repair due to housing unit that does not keep moisture out.

- Summary: The comfort control module in the trunk of the car was sitting in water due to an ingress of water coming in the car. The car would not start due to this water ingress and could have shut off completely on the freeway or while driving. This caused my car to completely shut off and malfunction. There were no warning lamps or messages of the problem. I found out about the problem by taking the car to the Audi dealership. They originally thought the problem was the gateway module which has already been recalled due to the same problem of an ingress of water. The Audi dealership has claimed that the ingress of water is from a clogged drain pipe in the sunroof. They said there is nothing you can do to prevent this from happening.

The sensor failed due to poor design, metal-to-metal ball and socket linkage in a corrosion-assured location under the car. When the metal-to-metal ball and socket corroded and froze, resulting load caused the sensor linkage to break. A search of Audi forums indicates that this problem is not uncommon, and this same sensor design is used in other Audi models and variants.

- Summary: My dealer informed me during a routine inspection that the rear coils springs were about to break and needed replacement at only 66653 miles. Web search revealed many others who have actually failed. Manufacturer will not cover 'out of warranty' repair. As a mechanical engineer with 45 years in the light vehicle industry - 30 in safety - I can say that coil springs do not routinely fail, especially at this mileage. If the do fail at speed I'd certainly expect potential loss of control by the surprised diver.

You made an excellent choice trading in your 1998 ML320 for a 2011 2.0T base model! After looking at new and used diesel ML's, Touareg, Highlander Hybrid, Venza, Pilot, and MDX, the Q5 was the clear winner, especially on twisty roads. It's amazing how much zip it has for a 4, and the brakes are awesome! You've already driven 3000 miles and haven't had any problems. Compared to your previous SUVs, including the ML, Pathfinder, and Volvo XC 70, it's really fun to drive. You'll have plenty of power driving over the Cascades from the valley and passing on the interstates. On a recent 400 mile trip down I-5, fully loaded with 4 people and luggage, you got an impressive 31 mpg at 65-75 mph. The base sound system with iPod is more than adequate, and the panoramic sunroof doesn't cause interior overheating in the Northwest with temps up to 90. We're thrilled to hear that you couldn't be happier so far!

I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to share my recent experience with my Audi Q5. Unfortunately, the coolant burst in the engine compartment and I had to have it towed to the dealership. The water pump failed at only 7,800 miles, which was a major issue. However, I am grateful that it was covered under warranty. I have noticed that many other Audi owners have experienced the same issue and I hope that Audi will address this with their current owners soon. Despite this issue, I have been very happy with my Audi Q5 and I am confident that the dealership will take care of the problem. Thank you for your time.

I've really become a big fan of diesel engines for their driving characteristics and efficiency. The Q5 TDI definitely lives up to my expectations. This SUV is impressively quick with minimal turbo lag, which gives me a lot of confidence when pulling out into traffic and merging, whether from a stop or at highway speeds. The engine is incredibly refined. As a family of four, I found the Q5 to be the perfect size. I also preferred the 3L TDI over the 2L offerings in BMW and MB. Going with the 3L doesn't have much of an impact on fuel economy, as I've been getting around 30 mpg around town and mid 30s on the highway. The seats are comfortable, although they could be a bit softer. The lumbar support is good, and the Bang and Olufsen sound system provides excellent sound quality. The MMI infotainment system takes some time to get used to, but it's logical once you learn your way around. Most selections are made using the center console, since there aren't many buttons on the steering wheel. I'm really enjoying the panoramic roof more than I expected, as it fills the interior with light and makes the car feel even roomier. I have the 20 inch wheels and I'm pleased that they don't make the ride harsh. This SUV has a firm ride and handles more like a sedan. Even on a 6 hour drive, I didn't feel fatigued and felt confident driving in a torrential rainstorm. I'm looking forward to seeing how it handles the snow once I put the 17 inch blizzaks on. Overall, I'm extremely satisfied with my purchase!

If you're considering a used car, we recommend checking if it has been serviced or repaired for engine oil consumption issues. It's worth noting that the piston rings have an inherent flaw that has been filed under a class action suit. However, the good news is that the piston ring replacement or engine replacement (depending on the severity of the issue) is covered as long as the vehicle has less than 80,000 miles. Although it may require some effort to get it fixed from the dealer, it's definitely worth it. The car has good fuel economy and a nice exterior and interior design, making it feel like a premium car at a reasonable price.

Vehicle year: 2011
I recently purchased a 2011 2.0T SUV with a sunroof, but no Navi. I use it all the time for both highway and off-road/farm tracks, vet errands, and cross country trips. The SUV format is perfect for my needs. The first set of OEM tires lasted about 45k miles, but the new Pirellis are even better. I always keep a quart of SynthOil in the boot, and in 3 years, I have only added 4 quarts total. I'm glad to know that my experience is not unique, and I believe that this is not a major problem considering all the positives. The lifetime MPG is 24.7, and the audio/iPod/Sat is great. The cargo is functional, and there is plenty of passenger space. Overall, it's a solid and efficient SUV, and I can't think of anything else that would suit me better. Although I do have a soft spot for that Subaru/dog commercial, the Q5 is perfect for both work and after-work activities.

My 2021 Audi Q5 with 20,000 miles experienced a transmission malfunction while driving at approximately 70 mph. I was able to safely pull over to the shoulder before the car stopped completely. Although it took road-side assistance 12 hours to tow my car, I remained patient and understanding throughout the process. Despite initial challenges, I was able to secure a loaner from the dealership. While I am unsure of the exact issue with my car, I am confident that it will be resolved in a timely and efficient manner. It is worth noting that transmission issues are not uncommon in this model, but I trust that the dealership will handle the situation with the utmost professionalism and expertise.

I purchased my vehicle brand new in December 2020, but unfortunately it experienced internal failure and completely died less than two months later. The car stopped working while I was driving and I couldn't even put it in neutral to move it out of traffic. Before it stalled, all four windows started going up and down and the dashboard displayed critical errors. I had to have the car towed back to the dealership in Honolulu, HI, and unfortunately they kept it for over 25 days without providing me with any updates. I had to reach out to them multiple times to get any information. Last month, I experienced an Audi pre-sense malfunction while driving the same vehicle. I was making a left turn in a four-lane intersection and was the first car to turn. There were no oncoming vehicles, motorcycles, or pedestrians in the crosswalk. When I pushed the gas, the car suddenly braked hard, causing the cars behind me to slam on their brakes to avoid hitting me. This was a very scary experience and left me feeling traumatized. Additionally, like some other reviewers, I have experienced issues with Apple CarPlay disconnecting frequently and sometimes not connecting at all. I understand that this is a known issue with Audi, but unfortunately my dealership did not acknowledge this and made me feel like I didn't know what I was doing. Finally, I also remember hearing a loud pop when I was driving one day, which almost felt like it came from under my driver's seat. It felt like I didn't have the seat adjusted properly, and when in motion, the seat moved and latched (thus the loud noise). However, I remembered that this car has electrically adjusted seats (unlike my other car, Subaru Crosstrek). I love the way this car rides and drives, but I am way too scared to keep driving it for my safety.

The 2018 Audi Q5 has unfortunately not met the expectations of this customer, despite extensive research and consideration before purchase. The vehicle experienced several issues, including a malfunctioning turn signal and engine failure, which resulted in an inconvenient and disappointing experience. The dealer has acknowledged the situation and is taking the necessary steps to rectify the issue. It is important to note that this experience is not representative of the overall quality of Audi vehicles, and the brand remains a reputable choice for many consumers.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share my experience with my Audi Q5 that I bought new in 2012. Before that, I had a VW Passat wagon which handled like a dream, but unfortunately couldn't handle upstate NY pot holes. I've always been very diligent about maintaining my Audi through the dealership and making sure all recalls were taken care of. However, at around 80,000 miles, I started noticing that I had to add oil before the next oil change service. When I asked the dealership about it, they told me that it was to be expected because of the age of the vehicle and advised me to keep adding oil. This went on for 2 and a half years, with the dealership continually reassuring me. Unfortunately, the oil light started coming on more frequently and I had to keep adding more oil. Two months ago, I went to a different dealership (since the original dealer is no longer dealing in Audi) and they told me that my pistons were bad and that something had been manufactured incorrectly. Apparently, there had been an issue that Audi knew of, but to rectify the problem would cost me $6000. The dealer again told me to just keep adding oil. I did some research on the internet and found out about a class action suit from years 2008-2011. My car is an early 2012 model manufactured in 02/12. I contacted Audi and they told me to pay for an oil compression test, which unfortunately didn't happen in time. Now my car is currently sitting in my driveway with 109,000 miles, undriveable and awaiting a tow truck because it suddenly doesn't go more than 23 miles an hour. Audi's not sure what my outcome will be and they've advised me to prepare myself for the outcome. It's definitely been a frustrating experience, but I hope this helps anyone who's considering buying an Audi. Maybe it's worth looking into a Mercedes, BMW or Volvo instead. Take care!

I recently purchased a used 2014 Q5 from an Audi dealer and have owned it for 5 months now. The car had 120KM on it with all service records done at Audi. As someone who has always bought Japanese brands due to their reliability, this is my first German car. Overall, I have had a nice ride with good fuel economy. The ride is comparable to my previously owned RX350 and MDX. However, there have been some issues with the car that have made me nervous. The transmission can be very harsh when the car is cold and the car sometimes jerks when crawling to a stop. Additionally, the auto-folding mirrors sometimes act up and don't fold. I have also had the service engine light come on three times in five months. Despite these issues, the interior finish and quality are nice and the car is very quiet and comfortable. While I won't be keeping this car for long and wouldn't buy an Audi again, I would still recommend it to others who are looking for a luxury car experience. If you are planning to keep your car for a long time, it may not be the best idea to buy an Audi as they seem to have constant issues. However, if you prefer Japanese brands, you may want to consider them instead. After 130,000 kilometers, my Audi started burning 1L of oil for 600-700 KM and I was advised by Audi to keep adding oil until eventually replacing the motor at a cost of $10K. I decided to trade it in for an Acura and have not had a single issue with it in two years. I am very happy with my decision to switch back to a Made in Japan brand. I hope this helps you make an informed decision.
