Gmc Yukon 2005 problems
The Chevrolet Tahoe, and its badge-engineered GMC Yukon counterpart, are full-size SUVs and other trucks from General Motors, offered since 1994 and 1991, respectively. Since 1982, Chevrolet and GMC sold two different-sized SUVs under their "Blazer" and "Jimmy" nameplates, by introducing the smaller S-10 Blazer and GMC S-15 Jimmy for the 1983 model year, below the full-size Blazer and Jimmy models. This situation lasted into the early 1990s. GMC first rebadged the full-size Jimmy as the "Yukon" in 1991. Chevrolet however waited until 1994, when they rebadged the redesigned mid-size S-10 Blazer the "new Blazer," while renaming the full-size Blazer as the "Tahoe." The name Tahoe refers to the rugged and scenic area surrounding Lake Tahoe in the western United States, and was originally used as a trim level on S-10 models. The name Yukon refers to the Yukon territory of northern Canada.
For the 1995 model year, the Tahoe and Yukon gained a new, longer four-door model, slotting in size between the two-door models and the longer-wheelbase Chevrolet/GMC Suburbans.
The Tahoe is sold in North America, parts of Asia such as the Philippines, and the Middle East, plus other countries including Bolivia, Chile, Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, and Angola as a left-hand-drive vehicle. The Yukon is only sold in North America and the Middle East.
The Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon are part of General Motors' full-size SUV family and are differentiated from the similar Chevrolet Suburban and GMC Yukon XL primarily by the length of the passenger and cargo area behind the C-pillar. An upscale trim GMC Denali sub-model joined the Yukon lineup as the top-of-the-line trim for the 1999 model year; the Cadillac Escalade is a closely related upscale version sharing the same platform. The Denali is available on both standard and XL versions.
The Tahoe has regularly been the best-selling full-size SUV in the United States, frequently outselling its competition by two to one.

Common Gmc Yukon 2005 problems
The GMC Yukon, a large and robust SUV, has been a popular choice among consumers since its introduction in 1993. While generally reliable, certain model years have been identified as problematic. This article will focus on the common problems reported by owners of the 2005 GMC Yukon, based on search results from reputable sources.
- Pinging Noise from Underneath the Car: Another common issue reported by 2005 GMC Yukon owners is a pinging noise coming from underneath the vehicle. This noise is often caused by a heat shield issue, which can be addressed by replacing the heat shields. This problem is not safety-critical but can be annoying for drivers.
- Uneven Tire Wear: Some 2005 GMC Yukon owners have reported uneven tire wear, particularly on the driver's side front tire. This issue can be caused by a leaking front seal, which can lead to uneven tire wear over time. Fortunately, this problem is typically covered under warranty, and dealers may provide a rental car while the vehicle is being repaired. However, it is worth considering whether to insist on new tires for the front to address the uneven wear.
- Excessive Oil Consumption: While not exclusive to the 2005 model year, excessive oil consumption is a common problem reported by GMC Yukon owners. This issue is not safety-critical but can lead to higher maintenance costs over time. The best solution is to regularly check the oil levels and carry the appropriate weight oil with you to ensure that the vehicle remains well-maintained.
- AC Not Working Properly: Some 2005 GMC Yukon owners have reported issues with the air conditioning system not working properly. While this problem is not safety-critical, it can be uncomfortable during hot weather. The repair cost for this issue is relatively expensive, at around $1,000 on average. However, the type of failure can impact the cost of the repair, which is worth noting.
In summary, the 2005 GMC Yukon has several common problems reported by owners, including a leaking sunroof, pinging noise from underneath the car, uneven tire wear, excessive oil consumption, and issues with the air conditioning system. While these problems are not safety-critical, they can lead to higher maintenance costs over time. Regular maintenance and checking the vehicle's oil levels can help mitigate some of these issues.

SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2014-05-14
- Components: SERVICE BRAKES
- Summary: I WAS DRIVING ON A DIVIDED HIGHWAY AND WENT TO SLOW DOWN TO MAKE A LEFT HAND TURN AND THE BRAKES INITIALLY WORKED BUT AT ABOUT 30 MPH THERE WAS A TOTAL FAILURE AND THE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. I HAD TO STAND ON THE PEDAL, SO TO SPEAK, TO GET THE 2005 YUKON TO STOP BEFORE HITTING THE TRAFFIC STOPPED IN FRONT OF ME. I HAD THE TRUCK TOWED HOME AND UPON INSPECTION THE BREAK LINE HAD FAILED RIGHT BELOW THE RADIATOR WHERE IT CONNECTS TO A PLASTIC RETAINER CLIP. I WAS AMAZED AT THE FACT WITH ONLY 118,000 MILES I HAD TOTAL RUST THROUGH ON BRAKE LINES. THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT PARTS ON A VEHICLE AND WOULD EXPECT THE LINES TO LAST LONGER. I LIVE IN SOUTHERN INDIANA ABOUT 40 MILES FOR CINCINNATI, OH. THIS IS UNBELIEVABLE!! SINCE I REPAIRED THIS FAILURE, THE TRANS LINE AND ANOTHER BRAKE LINE HAVE FAILED DUE TO RUST.!! I HAVE OWNED GM PRODUCTS MY WHOLE LIFE AND HAD A 1998 YUKON WITH 235,000 MI. ON THE TRUCK AND NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH RUST THROUGH ON THE LINES. I WISH THERE WAS SOMETHING GM WOULD DO TO HELP FIX THIS PROBLEM. I WORRY EVERY TIME I USE THE TRUCK THAT ANOTHER LINE WOULD BREAK AND CAUSE A MASSIVE ACCIDENT. *TR

I WAS CALLED WITHIN A COUPLE OF HOURS AND TOLD THAT THE BRAKE LINES HAD BURST AND HAD CORRUPTED ALL OF THE ROTORS AND THE COST WOULD BE OVER $3K TO REPAIR/REPLACE. NOTE: THE ROTORS WERE REPLACED SEP 2013 AND HAD LESS THAN 1K MILEAGE. I CALLED GM CORPORATE TO ASK FOR RELIEF ON 10/6/14 AND WAS TOLD I WOULD RECEIVE A CALL WITHIN 24 HOURS BY A SENIOR ADVISOR. AFTER NOT HEARING BACK, I CALLED ON 10/10/14 AND WAS TOLD THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THEY COULDN'T DO ANYTHING. I CITIED ALL THE CASES ON LINE ABOUT FAULTY BRAKE LINES AND NHTSA EA11001 AND THE LADY HAD NO KNOWLEDGE OF ANY ISSUES. SHE STATED IT WOULD BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE DEALERSHIP AND NOT GM. SHE STATED SHE WOULD CALL THE DEALERSHIP THE SAME DAY AND TURN IT OVER TO THEM. THERE WAS NOTHING GM WOULD DO TO ASSIST SINCE IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY. PLEASE HELP. WHAT IS THE STATUS OF THE INVESTIGATION? *TR
