2017 Lincoln Mkx problems
The Lincoln MKX is a mid-size luxury crossover SUV marketed and sold by the Lincoln brand of Ford Motor Company. Introduced in late 2006, the MKX ("X" stands for "crossover") is the first crossover SUV offered by the Lincoln brand. Initially the smallest Lincoln SUV, it has been slotted between the Lincoln Corsair and the Lincoln Aviator. It is the Lincoln counterpart of the Ford Edge crossover across both generations.
The first-generation MKX was produced from 2007 to 2015, based upon the CD3 platform. The second generation is based on the CD4 platform. Both generations of the MKX were manufactured at Oakville Assembly in Oakville, Ontario, Canada alongside the Ford Edge, Ford Flex, and Lincoln MKT.
As Lincoln phased out its use of "MK" model names, the MKX adopted the Lincoln Nautilus nameplate as part of a mid-cycle update in 2018 for the 2019 model year.

This vehicle is only a 2017 and 100K miles and shouldn't have total engine failure at that age. I read articles on NHTSA investigating Ford engines and feel this may have a similar engine issue and is worth investigating. Please let me know how I can assist.

- VIN: 2lmpj7jp3hb
- Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: Vehicle Leased for 36 months December, 2016. 3 miles on it. At end of lease then purchased the vehicle with a Lincoln Premier Warranty. June 2021 the passenger side dashboard began to lift from its mounting and bubbling up and sort of waffeling across the top of the dashboard then migrating toward the Airbag assembly. Complaint made to Lincoln June 2021. Instructed to take it to a local Lincoln Dealer. Dealer indicated repair would cost some 5 to 6 thousand dollars and that it was not covered under any warranty. Current vehicle mileage: 17,200. Making things worse is that the Airbag is integral to the dashboard. Further lifting and/or peeling off would necessarily present a serious safety and possibly functional hazard, let alone cosmetic features. This is a luxury SUV (Lincoln MKX Black Label) costing approximately 75 thousand dollars, by no means Chump Change. A verbal complaint to Lincoln Customer Service late August 2021. It was indicated this item was NOT covered under warranty and be a total cost to the owner. Not good enough! My position is that is was a manufacturing defect. This whole issue was covered in a certified letter to Lincoln Customer Service September 15, 2021; as yet no reply or resolution from Lincoln.

2017 Lincoln Mkx recalls
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued 4 recalls for different components of the 2017 Lincoln Mkx.
- Manufacturer: Ford Motor Company
- Components: SERVICE BRAKES
- Summary: Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2015-2018 Ford Edge and 2016-2018 Lincoln MKX vehicles. The front brake hoses may rupture prematurely.
- Consequence: A ruptured front brake hose will cause a brake fluid leak, lengthening the distance needed to stop the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the front brake hoses with the new hoses that have a revised braid material, free of charge. Parts are not currently available. An interim letter notifying owners of the safety risk was mailed September 21, 2020. A second letter will be sent once parts are available, which is expected to begin April 15, 2021. Owner notification letters were mailed on May 13, 2021. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 20S42.

- Summary: Ford Motor Company, Inc. (Ford) is recalling certain 2016-2018 Lincoln MKX and 2019-2020 Nautilus vehicles equipped with 16-way electric tilt seats. The seat cushion frame edge may contact the wire harness when the seat occupant uses the tilt function of the seat, potentially damaging one or more wires within the harness, which can result in either inadvertent deployment of the air bag or nondeployment of the air bag in the event of a crash.
- Consequence: An air bag that deploys inadvertently increases the risk of a crash. An air bag that does not deploy in the event of a crash increases the risk of injury.
- Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will install protective flocking tape onto the exposed edge of the 16-way seat cushion frames, and inspect the wire harness for damage, and repair or replace it as needed, free of charge. This recall began August 12, 2020. Owners may contact Ford/Lincoln customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 20S37.

- Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will remove the battery harness clips and elbow guide, and install a wire channel shield and protective sleeve to the battery cable harness, free of charge. Interim notices informing owners of the safety risk were mailed on December 2, 2019. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."
- Consequence: During deployment, if the air bag does not fully inflate or the cushion detaches, there is an increased risk of injury in the event of a crash.

I'm still enjoying my Lincoln MKX! It's holding up very well with minor maintenance such as oil changes, tire rotation, brakes, and tires.
-
This SUV has many great features, but there are a few noticeable shortcomings. The front seats are quite short and do not provide much leg support. Additionally, the front headrest has limited range of motion adjustment. It's worth noting that the driver assistance function for maintaining lane will stop functioning when lines are yellow. However, the adaptive cruise control works very well.
-
Reliable transportation. However, the shifting could be improved.
-
Congratulations on your new purchase! It's great to hear that you're enjoying your 2017 model lease back with only 13k miles. Moving up to an SUV from your Mkz sounds like a great choice. It's wonderful to hear that you're loving your new Mkx, especially the smooth and fast 3.7L engine. The styling of the Mkx is truly impressive, and it's great to hear that you prefer the front grille look over the new Nautilus. It's also fantastic to hear that the mileage is spot on to what the sticker claimed. I'm so glad to hear that you're happy with your purchase and I hope that you continue to have a positive experience with it. Based on your positive experience with your Mkz, I'm sure that you'll have another great experience with your new Mkx. I highly recommend this vehicle as well, especially since it's much nicer than the Edge in my opinion. If you're able to pick up a low mileage used one, they aren't much more expensive. Thank you for sharing your experience with us!
-
It's great to hear that you find the driving experience similar to a sedan!
