The Lincoln MKX is a mid-size luxury crossover SUV marketed and sold by the Lincoln brand of Ford Motor Company. Introduced in late 2006, the MKX ("X" stands for "crossover") is the first crossover SUV offered by the Lincoln brand. Initially the smallest Lincoln SUV, it has been slotted between the Lincoln Corsair and the Lincoln Aviator. It is the Lincoln counterpart of the Ford Edge crossover across both generations.

The first-generation MKX was produced from 2007 to 2015, based upon the CD3 platform. The second generation is based on the CD4 platform. Both generations of the MKX were manufactured at Oakville Assembly in Oakville, Ontario, Canada alongside the Ford Edge, Ford Flex, and Lincoln MKT.

As Lincoln phased out its use of "MK" model names, the MKX adopted the Lincoln Nautilus nameplate as part of a mid-cycle update in 2018 for the 2019 model year.

The 2008 Lincoln MKX has faced a number of issues, many of which are related to its airbag system, coolant leaks, and transmission.

One of the most serious issues with the 2008 Lincoln MKX is related to its airbag system. The Takata recall affected this model year, which could cause the inflator to explode and cause significant injuries when deployed.

While the 2012 Lincoln MKX is less unreliable than previous models, it still had numerous annoying issues. The brake system was a major trouble spot for this model year, with several owners reporting difficulty in braking and the brake pedal going to the floor.

The 2011 Lincoln MKX also had its fair share of issues. The electrical problems, specifically with its door sensors, were at the top of the list. Many owners reported a persistent "door ajar" warning even when the doors were securely closed.

In conclusion, the 2008 Lincoln MKX had significant issues with its airbag system, coolant leaks, and transmission. The 2011 and 2012 models also had their fair share of problems, particularly with the brake system and door sensors. Negative 2008 Lincoln Mkx car reviews

I bought a used vehicle that I thought was beautiful. However, when I got it home and started to give it a wax job, I discovered that rust was eating it up. I took it back to the dealership for help, but unfortunately, they were unable to assist me and suggested I contact Lincoln. After reaching out to Lincoln, I was disappointed to find that they were also unable to help me. About a year later, I received safety recalls for rust corrosion due to the 2008 model not being sealed properly. I highly recommend checking your gas tank straps and cooling system for excessive corrosion. When I took it for inspection, I was shocked to find that even the covering on my shocks had been eaten away by rust and the entire frame was extensively rusted. Although Lincoln stated that there were no safety issues, I was extremely disappointed to find that my vehicle had become nothing but a money pit. I hope that others can learn from my experience and be cautious when purchasing a FORD product.

Although I initially loved the looks and feel of this vehicle, it has unfortunately been nothing but a headache. Despite the issues, I still find it wonderful to drive when it is running! However, the service department seems to have no clue on what is wrong, which is disappointing. While this experience has been frustrating, I am confident in my decision to prioritize reliability and safety for my family. I am now considering a more dependable vehicle and will be exploring other options. Thank you for your understanding.

Hello! If you're looking for a vehicle with a lot of features packed into one, this car might be a good option for you. With elite and ultimate packages, it's available for $36,000, which is a great value. While we've driven BMW and Mercedes brands for the past 20 years, we think this car is a solid choice. However, if you're looking for an even better value, you might consider buying a two-year-old ML320. It's worth noting that the Lincoln gets 17.5 MPG highway. If you're not a fan of driving, don't worry - my wife would drive just about anything. Let us know if you have any questions!

So far the driving experience has been good. It's not quite as comfortable as my '04 Saab 93 though.

  5. Isac Prohaska 2024-05-29

This car is a pleasure to drive and especially to look at. I have never had a vehicle get as many admiring looks and compliments. However, I have experienced some issues with the PTU in the Edge and MKX. Unfortunately, my car has been back to the dealership four times due to leaking seals, and Ford has been unable to find a solution to the problem. It's disappointing, but I'm hopeful that they will eventually be able to fix it. If you're interested, you can check out the Edge forum on Ford's site to see what others are saying about this issue.

Positive 2008 Lincoln Mkx car reviews

  1. Pedro Hand 2025-01-07

I'm driving a 1 owner 2008 MKX that has been well-maintained and has clocked an impressive 245,000 miles! It has been serviced regularly at the Ford/Lincoln dealership by certified mechanics, which I believe is the reason why it still looks and runs like new. The vehicle had a minor airbag recall issue, but it was resolved promptly. At 194K, there was a transmission problem, but it was fixed for $801 and has been running smoothly ever since. The cooling fans did fail at 223K, but it was promptly taken care of. The oil is changed every 5k miles, and the tires are rotated regularly. The original Michelin tires lasted for 60k miles, and then I switched to Cooper tires. The heated and cooled seats still work perfectly, and there have been no issues with the water pump or heater core. The gas mileage is fair, up to about 27-28 on the highway. I am very satisfied with this vehicle and would definitely buy one again. At 250,000 miles, I plan to have the transmission serviced. This Lincoln MKX has been serviced at the local Ford Lincoln dealership since day one, and that's the biggest reason why it's still running strong! At 253,642 miles, a code came up on the screen and the motor was missing and running rough. The tech at Rick Ball Ford/Lincoln found a cracked spark plug and burnt boot, so both were replaced, and now it's running like new again! It still has the same coil packs, and I don't see any reason to change them. At 255,000 miles, the oil was changed with tire rotation, and at that time, I replaced the original headlamps with all LED in the headlights and fog lamps. I also had the front of the headlamps polished by a professional, and it made a huge difference in night driving! Yet this Lincoln keeps running! As of now, this 2008 Lincoln MKX has 263,000 miles on it, and it still runs great! It has been serviced every 5,000 miles with tire rotation, and I keep up on all service that Ford/Lincoln requires. I see people who complain that the water pump went out in their Lincoln MKX, but the Lincoln MKX I drive has the original water pump. I change the antifreeze and flush the radiator when it's required, and so far, no problems with the water pump! Thanks to the great service department at Rick Ball Ford/Lincoln, as they have a great staff to take care of your service on your Ford/Lincoln. Update 01/08/23: This Lincoln MKX has 270,000 miles on it now, and still no major problems! This vehicle still has the original water pump too. I expect it to get to 300k with little or no problem. Remember, service is the most important thing to do! Update 8/30/23: The Lincoln has 280,000 miles on it as of 8/30/23, and it's still running great! I have no complaints about this vehicle. It's still running strong, and I don't see it slowing down. The motor has never been touched, and it still has the original coil packs. But, as I have said, service is the most important thing to do to a vehicle.

I've had my MKX for 1.25 years now and I can't say enough great things about it! The creme brulee color and light tan interior still look brand new. I absolutely love all the features, especially the sync which makes me feel a bit lazy sometimes. I've had numerous people try to buy it from me, which is a testament to how amazing this car is. It's the most luxurious, sexy, and fun car I've ever owned. Even my 12-year-old and his friends love the rockin' stereo system, which is hard to believe is stock. With each oil change, my gas mileage continues to improve and I'm now getting 24 hwy and 10 city. I would highly recommend this vehicle to anyone!

  3. Amos Johns 2024-11-28

I bought my MKX a month ago and I absolutely love it! Initially, I was considering purchasing a Toyota Highlander Limited, but after test driving the MKX, I was sold. The comfort level is exceptional, even for my husband and I who are both over six feet tall. The heated seats and phone system are fantastic features. Additionally, there is plenty of room for all of my work and toddler-related items. I am thrilled to report that I am averaging 18.65 MPG overall and couldn't be happier with my purchase!

  4. Regan Dibbert 2024-11-09

You've now owned the car for a year and have driven 10,000 miles. It's great to hear that you haven't had any problems and only needed an oil change. The leather and interior still look brand new, and the outside paint is almost perfect with no dings or chips. It's impressive that you're getting 19.1 miles per gallon since inception. It's also wonderful to hear that the car gets a lot of compliments and that the paint job is much better than your wife's similarly priced Toyota. The Sync system is superior, and the phone quality is crystal clear. The sound system is fantastic, and it's great that the car still smells new. I'm so pleased to hear that you're happy with your purchase!

  5. Nathan Schuppe 2024-10-23

I'm so glad you chose the MKX! Before making my purchase, I was considering the Nissan Xterra, but my dad suggested I take a look at the Lexus RX350 or Lincoln MKX. After test driving both, I knew the MKX was the perfect fit for me. With 24K mileage, I haven't had any issues except for a minor steering wheel vibration when braking from 70 MPH to 0 MPH at 22K. However, the dealership was able to fix the problem for free during a routine tire rotation. Overall, I'm extremely satisfied with my MKX purchase!
