Lincoln Mkx problems

The Lincoln MKX is a mid-size luxury crossover SUV marketed and sold by the Lincoln brand of Ford Motor Company. Introduced in late 2006, the MKX ("X" stands for "crossover") is the first crossover SUV offered by the Lincoln brand. Initially the smallest Lincoln SUV, it has been slotted between the Lincoln Corsair and the Lincoln Aviator. It is the Lincoln counterpart of the Ford Edge crossover across both generations.
The first-generation MKX was produced from 2007 to 2015, based upon the CD3 platform. The second generation is based on the CD4 platform. Both generations of the MKX were manufactured at Oakville Assembly in Oakville, Ontario, Canada alongside the Ford Edge, Ford Flex, and Lincoln MKT.
As Lincoln phased out its use of "MK" model names, the MKX adopted the Lincoln Nautilus nameplate as part of a mid-cycle update in 2018 for the 2019 model year.

Common Lincoln Mkx problems
Based on the complaints from owners of the Lincoln MKX, several common problems have been reported:
- Coolant Leaks: Coolant leaks have been a significant concern for Lincoln MKX owners. These problems pose serious safety risks, especially at high speeds or in heavy traffic situations.

This issue causes the system to display a "door ajar" warning even when the doors are securely closed. The warning can affect various vehicle functions, leading to inconvenience and potential safety concerns.
- Headliner Rattling: Some model years of the Lincoln MKX have experienced rattling noises in the interior due to poor fitment of the headliner. This issue can create annoying sounds, affecting the overall driving experience. Repairs may involve re-securing the foam blocks with cable or zip ties to address the rattling noise.
- Electrical Problems: Owners have reported various electrical issues with the Lincoln MKX, including problems with the alternator, starter, battery, ignition system, and other electrical components. These issues can lead to malfunctions in critical vehicle systems, affecting the overall performance and reliability of the car.

This happened On [XXX] and the vehicle is available for inspection here in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. In 2010 Lincoln implemented an override device to the brake system knowing of the problem and there was no recall for vehicles prior to 2010. My safety was put at risk and that of others. If someone had been exiting the store or walking down the sidewalk they could have been killed. I am suffering with physical and mental problems as a result of this. Police report also states this was definitely a vehicle malfunction. There were no warning signs prior to the incident. - Summary: I am satisfied with the help that the customer service assisted me with and that was getting my service moved up to September 26th from the original date of October 30th. But I am not satisfied with the remedy. I have received several written letters from Lincoln that go into detail of the recall on my car and as well they say and in BIG RED LETTERS ..DO NOT DRIVE YOUR CAR UNTIL REPAIRS ARE DONE. WELL, I should say that you see my 2010 Lincoln Mkx is my and only vehicle I own I can not just park it up and forget I have a life and a job because of no fault of my own that my one and only car urgently is needing repair to the factory installed air bags. Therefore I ask Lincoln to assist me with a rental until my car had been repaired. I do not feel safe DRIVING MY CAR.Letter's I have on hand from Lincoln plainly stating DO NOT DRIVE. I am upset Lincoln ortrays they care so much to bombard me with all the recall letters and such but pretty much told me NO WE DONT DO RENTAL CARS So what I am to do??? I don't have rental coverage on my insurance. I couldn't afford it. So what choice do I have??? If I do die from their faulty air bags imploding on me atleast make sure my children and grandchildren knew I begged for a rental but Lincoln couldn't back me with that. I guess making luxury car's for so many years has not left them with much profit Seeing as how in a life or death situation brought on by their mistake they leave their customers to chance it because it cost to much for rentals to ensure their customers are kept safe until their car is serviced and safe to drive. They have no compassion for people is how I am feeling about this whole situation. Only covering themselves legally in the cheapest fix possible to avoid legal issues. Guess Lincoln owners are just numbers and dollar signs and not mothers, fathers, daughters, sons, aunt or uncles or grandparents that are loved and would be missed severely in the event of their death by a recalled air bag.

- Summary: Continious soft brake pedal , with failure of brakes a couple of times nearly causing wreck. Auto inspected by Reineke Ford Findlay, Oh. Needs replacement of ABS brake module - hydrolic and electrical. No warning lights ever. Ford needs to extend the ABS module recall to include additional years, one of those being my 2014 MKX. To add to problem, even if I could afford to fix $2,000.00 repair......parts are on backorder........hence defining what a problem this is! This has been going on since April 2024.

- Summary: My 2007 Lincoln MKX was in Drive with the brake depressed waiting to back up into a traffic lane from an angled parking space in front of a small shop in our historic downtown area. Suddenly, the vehicle accelerated forward at a high rate of speed jumping the shallow curb and slamming into the cement foundation of the store. Continuing to depress the brakes made no difference in stopping the jarring unintended forward motion. The speed moving forward was so high that in the 10-12 feet from the curb to the store entrance the impact demolished the entire front of the vehicle even bending the front axels. The airbags did not deploy at all. The witness interviewed, reported loud screeching tires as her back was to the scene during the collision. Local PD, EMS and Fire all responded, with a full police report filed. It was extremely fortunate no person was either on the sidewalk or in the entrance to the storefront. My injuries included severe bruising to the right side of my neck, as well as a hematoma on my right tibia and an oblique fracture to bones in my right foot. There were no passengers in the car with me. The accident, and extreme concern over the malfunction of the vehicle allowing it to take control away from myself as the driver, has been reported to Ford Lincoln and a claim number established. My insurance company took possession of the vehicle from the tow lot after three days after determining it was a total loss. To reiterate, there was no warning at all before the incident. I was simply waiting for traffic to clear, so I could put the vehicle from Drive into Reverse and pull out of the parking space.

- Summary: My brakes have failed on this car three times. I had new front and back brakes installed on [XXX] mileage 44882. Again my brakes failed on [XXX] mileage 47626. A new brake booster was installed along with front brakes. Again on [XXX] brakes failed again and a brake booster and front brakes were installed. Mileage 54924. Today I was driving to my daughters house in Zanesville, Ohio and my brakes failed again. My car is still down in Zanesville because I could not drive it home. The mileage is 57000. Every time this happens I risk an accident. Even though the brake booster is covered by extended warranty, because Lincoln knows about this problem, I still have to pay for brakes and other cost. - Summary: In June 2024, i received a letter dated March of 2024 for a Customer Satisfaction Program 13N02 that ended before i had a chance to take my vehicle into the repair shop to have this item fixed. Actually, i received the letter past the date that it could qualify for the repair as it was 10 years from the original warranty or 150,000 miles. My original warranty start date was December 2013. So they sent the "Customer Satisfaction Program notice 13N02" After the date it could be repaired. I called the dealership anyway, despite their error, to see if they may want to fix this Spongy Break Pedal anyway since they had messed up their mailing date. (Shultz Lincoln in Wexford, PA) They declined and told me they would be happy to look at it for a low fee of $180.00. I told them they should do it for free. I then called Lincoln directly where i spoke with a very nice gentleman. He looked through every possible scenario and decided that i was not able to get it fixed under the program. There really should be some type of law disallowing them to send out post dated letters knowing very well that they were not going to fix it because it was past the date of repair. My brake pedal hits the floor when i try to stop and if i do not push on the pedal hard enough to brake without the booster kicking in, i bump into things. Solution, i have attached a 2 channel dash cam to the vehicle with a live feed posted to a server in order to document my death caused by Lincoln. I have instructed my attorneys to release the feed upon my death and have authorized a law suit in my name. if won, they have been told to distribute the money to all of the homeless people that the Lincoln Executives drive past with their pocket tight and windows up every day on their way to work. This should be a crime. They should fix their safety issues, they should not be allowed to send out notices offering to pay for repairs that they do not plan on repairing. Also, they could spare a dollar for the Homeless

Vehicle year: 2017
Hi there! I wanted to share my experience with the 2017 MKX Reserve with the 2.7 turbo. I've been driving it for about 6 months now and have put 11K miles on it. Let me tell you, this car is a fantastic driver! Especially in sport mode, it's very quick and agile. Even in comfort setting, it's great on the road. I upgraded to the better seats with cool air venting and massages, which are more like a parlor trick to amuse your friends, but still cool nonetheless. The best things about this car are how quiet it is, the great handling, audio/radio, connectivity with Apple phone, comfortable seats, great headlights, automatic wipers, heated steering wheel (which is a lifesaver in MN), panoramic sunroof, and being able to start it with my phone from anywhere. It's also a very beautiful design, in my opinion even better looking than the Audi Q5 and Merc GLC (which were the ones I considered along with the MKX). As for what I would change, there are a few shortcomings such as rattles in the dash that I need to get fixed, the transmission in normal mode being a little hinky on downshifts, the radio taking a few seconds to dial in the stations when you change them, and the gas mileage being lower than hoped for (I usually get between 22 and 24 depending on how much highway). But overall, I would definitely consider leasing this car again as it has been a great vehicle so far. I'm also excited about the new Nautilus with its upgraded grill and better 8 or 9 speed transmission. Thanks for reading!

I looked at SUVs from entry level to top level across all brands, including Acura, VW, Ford, Chevy, Dodge, Subaru, Lexus, Toyota, Nissan, Jaguar, BMW, Audi, Honda, and more. Unfortunately, none of them had the full package at this price point - the technology, ride, luxury, and performance. Some came close, like the new 2018 Audi. However, there are some really aggressive rebates and pricing available, so don't pay over invoice and make sure to get the 0% financing. I really enjoy driving this SUV, despite the one downside of lower MPG. However, after reading all the reviews, I knew this going in. The performance is definitely worth it, and 20 MPG blended is not bad to have a twin turbo!

Vehicle year: 2018
For the past 25 years, I have been driving a Mercedes 550 and have owned 10 of them. However, due to my back fusion, the stiff ride did not suit me anymore. I came across the MKX with its 22-way seats and decided to give it a try. Although my family and friends were skeptical and thought I would never be happy without a new 550 every year, I am happy to say that I love my new car and will not be going back to Mercedes. Not only did it cost $50,000 less, but it also suits my needs and is much more comfortable. I would like to thank Lincoln for making the most comfortable seat on the market for a fused back.

I recently purchased my 2010 Lincoln MKX and I absolutely love this vehicle. It has plenty of cabin space, a smooth ride, and is equipped with all the luxuries fit for a queen! It truly is luxury at its finest. When we took it on a cross-country trip, we never got tired of driving it. Trust me, take into consideration the reviews of those of us who have purchased this car. You won't regret it!

I really love this car! I purchased it pre-owned in November 2014 with only 15k on the clock. Let me tell you, this is the most stunning and elegant vehicle I will ever own. It corners like a racecar, which I never expected! The interior features, such as ambient lighting, heated steering wheel, air conditioned seats, incredible THX sound, and the advanced MyTouch system with gas prices, weather, sports scores, etc, are all extremely useful. I have the 20

The car has many upsides. It handles and accelerates beautifully, and the power is plentiful. The ride is smooth, and it handles like a much smaller sedan. The tech features are great, and the touchscreen is sensibly laid-out. The parking aids and stereo are wonderful, and Lincoln has been great with their dealer support. However, there are some downsides. Even with the 22-way adjustable seat, I just can't get comfortable. The ergonomics of the car are kind of a mess, and some of the features just don't work very well. The MPG is abysmal, and the visibility out back is atrocious. The fit and finish overall is very good, and the materials are mostly nice. However, there are some hard cheap plastics in the interior. Lincoln has done a good job, but I'm not entirely sure they have hit the lofty objective of competing with Lexus.

The car is functional, but unfortunately the Lincoln My Touch system may cause frustration. While driving to the store, the car performs well. However, attempting to use features such as the radio may result in annoyance. The system has been known to reboot, leaving the volume loud and tuned to an AM station for several minutes. Additionally, the navigation system is difficult to use and slow, taking up to 5 minutes to input a restaurant destination. The database is also outdated. Overall, the My Touch system could use some improvement.

As for the exterior style, the lines are really nice and sharp looking! However, there is some bad news. The exhaust noise is quite unpleasant and sounds like a cow ready to give birth. The ride is smooth on newly paved roads, but at higher speeds, it can get a bit noisy. The MKX could use some fine tuning as there are a few too many squeaks and rattles for a Lincoln. It's a shame because it looks really nice, but it feels like a glorified Ford Edge.

I've owned this car for over 18 months and I'm considering trading it in. Unfortunately, I've had a few issues with it. At just 5 months, the brakes started making a terrible grinding noise and I had to get the rotors turned. I've since replaced the rotors at 35k miles. On the bright side, the car is great for hauling my kids' hockey equipment. However, after a year, I had to replace the battery due to some odd electrical malfunctions. The wipers still turn on for no reason, even on sunny days at stop lights. Sometimes the radio features don't work properly, displaying two different stations on the dash compared to the instrument cluster screen. The acceleration is sluggish, but the ride is comfortable. Unfortunately, I really dislike the blinker. It's too hard to operate and I worry it will break every time I use it. The all-weather tires are terrible in the snow and rain, and I'm hesitant to spend extra money on winter tires. Additionally, I have one tire that sounds out of round and needs to be replaced, even though it still has half its tread left. The road noise is overwhelming and not what I expected from a The technician advised me not to leave the key fob in the car or near it as it may drain the fob battery by trying to make contact with the computer. They also mentioned that it is difficult to determine the exact cause of the issue. Even with the key in the cup holder, pocket or purse, I still get the 'No Key Detected' message. On a positive note, I purchased winter tires for the car and it made a world of difference. However, at the 70k mile update, I decided to trade it in as the door sensor issue was a common problem with no Ford recall currently available. The dealer mentioned that the part alone costs $180 and the fix could cost up to $500. Although I liked the vehicle, the electrical issues made it unreliable and expensive to repair. I hope the new owner enjoys it and doesn't get stalled somewhere.

I purchased a 2013 MKX with only 3,000 miles on it, but unfortunately, I have been experiencing some issues with it. Within the first 6 months, the fuel gauge and moon roof stopped working. Additionally, when I fill up the gas tank, the car tends to shudder and shake, and the check oil light pops on, which can be quite inconvenient. The dashboard intermittently stops working, making it difficult to keep track of my control panel and fuel levels. The navigation system also stopped working, and now the rear windows won't roll down, and the brakes are making a loud noise. Although it only has 38,000 miles on it, I have decided to trade it for a Highlander. I have always found Toyota to be dependable and trustworthy. I have had a great experience with them in the past, and I am confident that they will provide me with a reliable vehicle. I have learned my lesson and will not be purchasing another Lincoln or Ford again.
