The Lincoln MKX is a mid-size luxury crossover SUV marketed and sold by the Lincoln brand of Ford Motor Company. Introduced in late 2006, the MKX ("X" stands for "crossover") is the first crossover SUV offered by the Lincoln brand. Initially the smallest Lincoln SUV, it has been slotted between the Lincoln Corsair and the Lincoln Aviator. It is the Lincoln counterpart of the Ford Edge crossover across both generations.
The first-generation MKX was produced from 2007 to 2015, based upon the CD3 platform. The second generation is based on the CD4 platform. Both generations of the MKX were manufactured at Oakville Assembly in Oakville, Ontario, Canada alongside the Ford Edge, Ford Flex, and Lincoln MKT.
As Lincoln phased out its use of "MK" model names, the MKX adopted the Lincoln Nautilus nameplate as part of a mid-cycle update in 2018 for the 2019 model year.

- Summary: My 2007 Lincoln MKX had an SUA and within 10 feet totaled the front end when it was thrust into a cement building. This happened On [XXX] and the vehicle is available for inspection here in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. In 2010 Lincoln implemented an override device to the brake system knowing of the problem and there was no recall for vehicles prior to 2010. My safety was put at risk and that of others. If someone had been exiting the store or walking down the sidewalk they could have been killed. I am suffering with physical and mental problems as a result of this. Police report also states this was definitely a vehicle malfunction. There were no warning signs prior to the incident. WELL, I should say that you see my 2010 Lincoln Mkx is my and only vehicle I own I can not just park it up and forget I have a life and a job because of no fault of my own that my one and only car urgently is needing repair to the factory installed air bags. Therefore I ask Lincoln to assist me with a rental until my car had been repaired. I do not feel safe DRIVING MY CAR.Letter's I have on hand from Lincoln plainly stating DO NOT DRIVE. I am upset Lincoln ortrays they care so much to bombard me with all the recall letters and such but pretty much told me NO WE DONT DO RENTAL CARS So what I am to do??? I don't have rental coverage on my insurance. I couldn't afford it. So what choice do I have??? If I do die from their faulty air bags imploding on me atleast make sure my children and grandchildren knew I begged for a rental but Lincoln couldn't back me with that. I guess making luxury car's for so many years has not left them with much profit Seeing as how in a life or death situation brought on by their mistake they leave their customers to chance it because it cost to much for rentals to ensure their customers are kept safe until their car is serviced and safe to drive. They have no compassion for people is how I am feeling about this whole situation. Only covering themselves legally in the cheapest fix possible to avoid legal issues. - Summary: My 2007 Lincoln MKX was in Drive with the brake depressed waiting to back up into a traffic lane from an angled parking space in front of a small shop in our historic downtown area. Suddenly, the vehicle accelerated forward at a high rate of speed jumping the shallow curb and slamming into the cement foundation of the store. Continuing to depress the brakes made no difference in stopping the jarring unintended forward motion. The speed moving forward was so high that in the 10-12 feet from the curb to the store entrance the impact demolished the entire front of the vehicle even bending the front axels. The airbags did not deploy at all. The witness interviewed, reported loud screeching tires as her back was to the scene during the collision. Local PD, EMS and Fire all responded, with a full police report filed. It was extremely fortunate no person was either on the sidewalk or in the entrance to the storefront. My injuries included severe bruising to the right side of my neck, as well as a hematoma on my right tibia and an oblique fracture to bones in my right foot. There were no passengers in the car with me. The accident, and extreme concern over the malfunction of the vehicle allowing it to take control away from myself as the driver, has been reported to Ford Lincoln and a claim number established. My insurance company took possession of the vehicle from the tow lot after three days after determining it was a total loss. To reiterate, there was no warning at all before the incident. I was simply waiting for traffic to clear, so I could put the vehicle from Drive into Reverse and pull out of the parking space.

- Summary: In June 2024, i received a letter dated March of 2024 for a Customer Satisfaction Program 13N02 that ended before i had a chance to take my vehicle into the repair shop to have this item fixed. Actually, i received the letter past the date that it could qualify for the repair as it was 10 years from the original warranty or 150,000 miles. My original warranty start date was December 2013. So they sent the "Customer Satisfaction Program notice 13N02" After the date it could be repaired. I called the dealership anyway, despite their error, to see if they may want to fix this Spongy Break Pedal anyway since they had messed up their mailing date. (Shultz Lincoln in Wexford, PA) They declined and told me they would be happy to look at it for a low fee of $180.00. I told them they should do it for free. I then called Lincoln directly where i spoke with a very nice gentleman. He looked through every possible scenario and decided that i was not able to get it fixed under the program. There really should be some type of law disallowing them to send out post dated letters knowing very well that they were not going to fix it because it was past the date of repair. My brake pedal hits the floor when i try to stop and if i do not push on the pedal hard enough to brake without the booster kicking in, i bump into things. Solution, i have attached a 2 channel dash cam to the vehicle with a live feed posted to a server in order to document my death caused by Lincoln. I have instructed my attorneys to release the feed upon my death and have authorized a law suit in my name. if won, they have been told to distribute the money to all of the homeless people that the Lincoln Executives drive past with their pocket tight and windows up every day on their way to work. This should be a crime. They should fix their safety issues, they should not be allowed to send out notices offering to pay for repairs that they do not plan on repairing. Also, they could spare a dollar for the Homeless

I absolutely adore my 2016 Lincoln MKX Reserve! I searched high and low for a compact SUV that had pedestrian alert and a 5-star IIHS safety rating, as well as a lot of American content. Unfortunately, I couldn't find one that met my needs, and the ones that came close felt cramped. However, the salesman pointed out that the MKX had the 5-star rating with top-of-the-line pedestrian alert, and I was sold in just 5 minutes! I have not been disappointed since. The car looks fantastic both inside and out, with high-end materials and a sleek design. Driving the car is a dream - it's super quiet and smooth with excellent handling. I opted for the Reserve without the Revel stereo, the 2.7 L turbo, and the 22-position seats, and I don't regret it one bit. The premium (i.e., standard) stereo is more than adequate, and the 3.7 L base engine has plenty of power and is very smooth. The standard seats are incredibly comfortable with plenty of adjustments, and I love the extra space of the mid-size SUV. Lincoln has also impressed me with the cooled front seats, power steering wheel adjustment, and easy-to-use Sync 3 technology. The only downside is the gas mileage, which is as advertised and lower than most compacts.That's the price you pay for space.

Terrific car to own and drive! With 21,000 miles, I'm getting 17+ around town and 24 on the highway. It's great in snow and ice, and on trips, we take 700 mile trips frequently and always enjoy the ride. The only negative is the hard seat cushions. However, the handling is good, mileage better than expected, and overall performance is excellent. I had an excellent dealer experience. They went out of their way to satisfy me with the PTU problem and fixed it when other dealers were having difficulty.

The decision to buy domestic vehicles again was an easy one after several disappointing experiences with European cars. The MKX's clean and crisp styling, strong stance, and front grill reminiscent of Lincoln's past exude confidence and authority. The ride is firm yet comfortable, handling is exceptional, and the mileage is decent. The sound system is superb, and the clutter-free instrumentation with retro gauges is both pleasing and functional. The cabin is spacious, with ample cargo space, and the quality leather seats are exceptionally comfortable. After researching on the Internet, my wife and I decided to purchase a 2016 MKX yesterday. It's still early days, but we're already impressed with the car's smooth ride and quiet cabin. We opted for the 3.7L V6 engine instead of the 2.7L Turbo engine, as it was more than capable for our needs and came with both the Driver Assistance and Technology packages. The SCYN3 interface is also very intuitive and easy to use. While we can't yet compare it to the lower cost Ford Edge, we can say that the driver's cabin is just as impressive as the Lexus RX-350 and the new Cadillac XT5. We decided that the cachet of the Lincoln name was worth the extra cost. It's important to note that we're an older couple with disposable income, so pure economy or ecological 'Green' thinking issues aren't our top priority. We're very happy with our decision and have already appreciated the optional safety features. If you're looking for a comfortable and safe car that's made in America, and don't need a third row or a sports car experience, we highly recommend the newest version of the Lincoln MKX.There have been two minor recalls, but the dealership was completely responsive. The interior space is conveniently organized, and we particularly like the front console's 'pass-through' storage space created by the push-button gear selector. The gas mileage is exactly as predicted, and we have received many positive comments from passengers. The SYNC-3 system is easy to use, and the 360-degree camera system is excellent. And let's not forget the night-time illuminated Lincoln logo Welcome Mat - while it may be pure fluff and decadence, we never fail to use it when chaperoning new guests at night! It starts the conversation going immediately. Overall, our initial rating remains unchanged. This has been an excellent choice for us. With another 6 months or so of experience, our review remains unaltered. This is an excellent driving machine for our needs, with good engine performance, superb comfort and internal ambience (thanks to the SYNC3 system), and good storage capacity. We did not need a third-row seating initially, and we are not missing it at all. The safety bells and whistles have indeed been helpful. My wife and I recommend this vehicle without reservation.

I recently purchased a 2017 Lincoln MKX and it has been an absolute pleasure to drive. The car is equipped with all the latest safety features, including a backup camera, collision alert, and even an automatic 911 call in case of airbag deployment. The push button start and transmission have freed up a lot of space between the front seats, which now includes two convenient 'pass thru' storage bins. The Sync 3 entertainment system is top-notch and can be easily controlled through voice commands, as can the navigation system. I particularly appreciate the radar weather maps, which provide up-to-date information on local weather conditions. Overall, the Lincoln MKX is a joy to drive and incredibly quiet, whether in city traffic or on the open road. The liftgate is also very convenient, with multiple ways to open it, including waving your foot under the bumper. After a year of ownership, I can confidently say that the MKX is a true winner. I have had no issues or problems, and everything works perfectly. I recently took it to the dealership for its annual maintenance service, and everything checked out OK.

There seem to be some issues with the shifting of the gears, but everything else about the car is awesome! As a realtor, I tend to drive slowly at times, and I have noticed a loud popping noise and jerking. It is quite noticeable. I went back to the dealer where I purchased it, and they said it is normal. However, I have never driven a luxury car that does not provide a smooth drive. That is my only concern. The seats are very comfortable, and all the extras that the car has are awesome. If this transmission issue is normal, I may have to reconsider purchasing another Lincoln, as much as I love it.

The power steering gear failed, resulting in a $3000 bill. This is unacceptable for a Lincoln vehicle. Despite the lack of prior knowledge about this issue, Lincoln did not provide any assistance. It is clear that the quality of the product needs improvement.

I am so happy with my car! The 22 point adjustable seat is amazing and has made driving so much more comfortable for me. The massage seat is a lifesaver and helps me arrive home pain-free. The safety features are also fantastic, especially the cruise control that adjusts based on the car in front of you. The auto stop and heated steering wheel are also great features. I feel like I'm in heaven when I'm driving this car! It's almost like it drives itself and the seat is the best I've ever had. Even though there have been a few issues with the electronics, such as the windshield wipers and backup sensor, the dealer has been very helpful in fixing them. Thank you so much for creating such an amazing car!

The car is functional, but unfortunately the Lincoln My Touch system may cause frustration. While driving to the store, the car performs well. However, attempting to use features such as the radio may result in annoyance. The system has been known to reboot, leaving the volume loud and tuned to an AM station for several minutes. Additionally, the navigation system is difficult to use and slow, taking up to 5 minutes to input a restaurant destination. The database is also outdated. Overall, the My Touch system could use some improvement.

I recently purchased a used 2018 MKX Reserve with less than 20K miles, which is actually my second MKX. While some features remain great, others are still of poor quality. It's a shame that Ford Lincoln would allow this on a $45K vehicle. However, the air bags all around are a great safety feature, and we also have the upgraded premiere surround sound system. The vehicle also has a 360 camera and alert system when close to an object, as well as audible alerts when too close to another vehicle to stop properly. The AWD Anti-skid and auto traction control are also great features, as are the massagers built into the front heated or cooled seats. Unfortunately, there are some downsides to this vehicle. The gas mileage is not great, even on the highway, and the gas tank is only about 13 gallons, so plan to stop at gas stations frequently. Additionally, whenever I accelerate hard, there's a burnt gas/exhaust smell in the car, which is a recurring issue from my previous 2016 MKX. The air quality is also occasionally questionable, with a strange moldy-flowery smell. Plastic pieces, such as the cargo net clasps, are also quite frail and break easily. Finally, replacing the HID headlight bulbs is a costly and time-consuming process that requires a visit to the dealer. Despite these issues, I still enjoy driving my MKX and appreciate its many features.The location of the part you need to access is a bit tricky, as it is buried under the windshield against the firewall. Unfortunately, some aspects of user maintenance have become more difficult, which may require a visit to the dealer. Before making a final decision, it may be worth considering other vehicles in the same category. While this vehicle has some great features, the small inconveniences can add up and make it frustrating to own. When looking for a used vehicle or a replacement for the Nautilus, it's important to compare features and reviews of other vehicles in the class. On the bright side, you can still get an oil change for $70 or less at any location!
