1994 Toyota Supra problems
The Toyota Supra (Japanese: トヨタ・スープラ, Hepburn: Toyota Sūpura) is a sports car and grand tourer manufactured by the Toyota Motor Corporation beginning in 1978. The name "supra" is derived from the Latin prefix, meaning "above", "to surpass" or "go beyond".
The initial four generations of the Supra were produced from 1978 to 2002. The fifth generation has been produced since March 2019 and went on sale in May 2019. The styling of the original Supra was derived from the Toyota Celica, but it was longer. Starting in mid-1986, the A70 Supra became a separate model from the Celica. In turn, Toyota also stopped using the prefix Celica and named the car Supra. Owing to the similarity and past of the Celica's name, it is frequently mistaken for the Supra, and vice versa. The first, second and third generations of the Supra were assembled at the Tahara plant in Tahara, Aichi, while the fourth generation was assembled at the Motomachi plant in Toyota City. The 5th generation of the Supra is assembled alongside the G29 BMW Z4 in Graz, Austria by Magna Steyr.
The Supra traces much of its roots back to the 2000GT owing to an inline-6 layout. The first three generations were offered with a direct descendant to the Crown's and 2000GT's M engine. Interior aspects were also similar, as was the chassis code "A". Along with this name, Toyota also included its own logo for the Supra. It was derived from the original Celica logo, being blue instead of orange. This logo was used until January 1986, when the A70 Supra was introduced. The new logo was similar in size, with orange writing on a red background, but without the dragon design. That logo, in turn, was on Supras until 1991 when Toyota switched to its current oval company logo. The dragon logo was a Celica logo regardless of what colour it was. It appeared on the first two generations of the Supra because they were officially Toyota Celicas. The dragon logo was used for the Celica line until it was also discontinued.
In 1998, Toyota ceased sales of the fourth-generation Supra in the United States. Production of the fourth-generation Supra for worldwide markets ended in 2002. In January 2019, the fifth-generation Supra, which was co-developed with the G29 BMW Z4, was introduced.

Common 1994 Toyota Supra problems
Based on the complaints from owners of the 1994 Toyota Supra, several common problems have been reported:
- Valve Stem Seals Hardening: One common issue reported by owners is the hardening of valve stem seals over time. This can lead to engine oil entering the cylinders, resulting in blue smoke from the tailpipe and cylinder misfires due to oil fouling the spark plugs.
- Peeling Clear Coat: Another problem noted is the tendency for the clear coat on the vehicle to peel off. This issue can affect the aesthetic appeal of the car and may require repainting to address.
- Malfunctioning Mass Airflow Sensor: Owners have reported issues with the mass airflow sensor malfunctioning. This can cause poor acceleration and overall engine performance due to a lean fuel mixture, impacting the car's drivability.
- Rust on the Cell Frame and Undercarriage: Particularly in climates with frequent snowfall, the cell frame and undercarriage of the 1994 Toyota Supra are prone to rust. This can lead to structural integrity issues and potentially compromise the safety of the vehicle.
- Blocked EGR Valve Passages: The EGR valve passages in the 1994 Supra are susceptible to blockages by carbon buildup. This can trigger the check engine light to illuminate, indicating a failed emissions test and potentially affecting the car's performance.
- Cracking Foam Dampening Material in Speakers: Over time, the foam dampening material in the OEM speakers of the Supra can crack, resulting in diminished sound quality from the stereo system.
- Fading and Yellowing of Plastic Headlight Housings: Owners have reported that the plastic headlight housings of the 1994 Supra tend to fade and turn yellow with sun exposure. This can impact visibility and the overall appearance of the vehicle.
- Drying Out of Targa Top Seals: The seals on the Targa top of the Supra are prone to drying out over time. This can lead to rainwater entering the vehicle, potentially causing interior damage.
- Water Pump Cooling Leaks: The water pump in the 1994 Supra is known to develop cooling leaks between 100,000 and 150,000 miles. This issue can result in overheating and engine damage if not addressed promptly.
- Cracking of Leather Seats: Over time, the leather seats in the Supra are prone to developing cracks. This can affect the comfort and aesthetics of the interior cabin.
These reported problems highlight various issues that owners of the 1994 Toyota Supra may encounter, emphasizing the importance of regular maintenance and prompt attention to any emerging issues to ensure the longevity and performance of the vehicle.

These cars are the best value for money. With over 600HP at the crank, this car is a rocket. If you have the opportunity to purchase one, act fast or you may miss out on a fantastic car. It is a true high-quality build and is fast in all aspects, including 1/4 mile, SCCA, road course, town and highway, and even as a show car. I highly recommend finding one and buying it!

I have owned a Supra since 2002 and it has been an amazing car. It gets all the looks, even next to a Ferrari. Driving into car shows is like making a superstar appearance. The quality of the build in the motor and body is outstanding. I will always hold these cars in the highest regard, and will hang on to mine for years to come.

The 93' Toyota Supra TT (6-speed, hardtop) has been an absolute gem. It handles incredibly well, with predictable handling even near the limit. With just a few minor modifications, the power is excellent (400+hp is just $100 away). What's more impressive is its reliability, considering it's a 23-year-old car and nothing expensive has ever broken on it. The only downsides are the lack of cup holders, questionable rear seating (suitable for 2 small children or two adults with no legs), and somewhat dodgy electrics (after 23 years).

This car is truly amazing! It boasts outstanding performance and cornering, and is rated 10/10 for aftermarket adjustments. Plus, it features Lexus craftsmanship on the engine and transmission. If you're looking for more horsepower (425-535HP), you can easily BPU++ your Supra for a great price! In comparison to other cars like Nissan, Mazda, or American models, the Supra is simply unbeatable. Just take a look at its performance compared to the Viper/996TT/Z06TT!
