The Lincoln MKX is a mid-size luxury crossover SUV marketed and sold by the Lincoln brand of Ford Motor Company. Introduced in late 2006, the MKX ("X" stands for "crossover") is the first crossover SUV offered by the Lincoln brand. Initially the smallest Lincoln SUV, it has been slotted between the Lincoln Corsair and the Lincoln Aviator. It is the Lincoln counterpart of the Ford Edge crossover across both generations.

The first-generation MKX was produced from 2007 to 2015, based upon the CD3 platform. The second generation is based on the CD4 platform. Both generations of the MKX were manufactured at Oakville Assembly in Oakville, Ontario, Canada alongside the Ford Edge, Ford Flex, and Lincoln MKT.

As Lincoln phased out its use of "MK" model names, the MKX adopted the Lincoln Nautilus nameplate as part of a mid-cycle update in 2018 for the 2019 model year.

UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2018-12-31
  • VIN: 2LMPJ8LP0JB
  • Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER
  • Summary: Subject: Urgent Health Risk Due to Mold in Lincoln MKX & Additional Considerations I'm submitting a formal complaint regarding our Lincoln MKX, purchased in 2018 with an extended warranty valid through 2026. A significant water leak has resulted in extensive mold and mildew buildup, posing severe health risks, particularly to my immunocompromised wife. Despite minimal use of the vehicle, exacerbated by reduced mobility during the COVID-19 pandemic declared by the WHO on March 11, 2020, we've discovered this longstanding issue, indicating it likely existed since purchase. The remediation process requires complete removal of the contaminated carpeting and padding, thorough cleaning of the underlying metal, and replacement with new materials to ensure safety. Efforts to resolve this with Ford/Lincoln have been met with inadequate support, not covering the extent of necessary repairs. Attached documentation and photographs outline the severity of the issue, the health implications, and our struggle for a satisfactory response from the manufacturer. We urge the NHTSA to consider these factors and our vehicle's low mileage as evidence of the defect's pre-existence and the pandemic's impact on its delayed detection. Immediate action is necessary to address this safety hazard.

UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2023-03-17
  • VIN: 2LMPJ8KRXJB
  • Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER
  • Summary: When I utilize my ac or heat without pressing a certain button after a while I start smelling a burning smell coming through the vents. When I'm outside the vehicle I smell it as well. The smell is hard to pinpoint. A dealership told me that maybe I needed to change my air filters. However the burning smell still would happen just the same. Then they checked to see if anything(such as plastic or anything) was stuck to any components that get hot to no avail. But something is wrong and it's scary. Also my vehicle has a very rough idle which sometimes can feel like a rumble. A tune up was suggested and complete and I still have the same experience. I love my vehicle but growing tired.

STRUCTURE PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2022-03-31
  • VIN: 2LMPJ8LP8JB
  • Components: STRUCTURE
  • Summary: Vehicle (SUV) floor board and truck had standing water from unknown source. Suspect rear hatch and/or glass roof design allows for environmental contamination to enter. Water travels down to floor and pools. For example, spare tire was found to be submerged. Rear seat and trunk carpeting were moist (saturated) to the touch. Concern: If water in the vehicle is undetected and is allowed to pool for long periods of time, three things will happen: 1. Accelerated corrosion and loss of function for any electrical wiring. 2. Standing water can develop mold, impacting air quality through long term and repeated exposure. Impact of vehicle occupants health. (In our instance, Mom & newborn) 3. Accelerated corrosion of vehicle internal structure. For example, seat fasteners. Item was discovered by third party service center and dealership is investigating root cause now. Dealer commented this is a problem more common with other models in the same family but not the model of this vehicle. No warning or indicator of the problem was present.

Negative 2018 Lincoln Mkx car reviews

  1. Kelton Schowalter 2024-10-19

I hope you had a great rental experience! I wanted to share some feedback on the 2019 model I drove for 5000 miles. While the ride was generally comfortable, I did notice some issues with uphill driving, particularly in Colorado. Additionally, I found the ergonomics and controls to be quite frustrating and even unsafe at times. Thank you for considering my feedback!

  2. Jaquan Oberbrunner 2024-04-07

The 2017 MKX has a lot of impressive technology features and a sleek design. However, the seats have received some negative feedback due to poor quality materials and lack of comfort. Some customers have reported issues with the headrests tilting too far forward, causing neck pain, and the seat cushions not providing enough support. Additionally, the narrow width and U-shaped sitting surface may not be suitable for everyone. Despite these concerns, the MKX may still be a great option for those who prioritize advanced technology features. It's important to consider personal preferences and comfort when making a decision. Thank you for sharing your experience with us!

  3. Cristina Skiles 2024-01-09

Positive 2018 Lincoln Mkx car reviews

  1. Noel Glover 2024-11-23

They may not be the most affordable option, but if you're looking for a vehicle with a wide range of safety features, the MKX is definitely worth considering. Comfort is crucial when spending a lot of time in your car, and the MKX delivers on that front.

  2. Mike Wilderman 2024-10-22

Congratulations on your new purchase! It's great to hear that you're enjoying your 2017 model lease back with only 13k miles. Moving up to an SUV from your Mkz sounds like a great choice. It's wonderful to hear that you're loving your new Mkx, especially the smooth and fast 3.7L engine. The styling of the Mkx is truly impressive, and it's great to hear that you prefer the front grille look over the new Nautilus. It's also fantastic to hear that the mileage is spot on to what the sticker claimed. I'm so glad to hear that you're happy with your purchase and I hope that you continue to have a positive experience with it. Based on your positive experience with the Mkz, I'm sure that you'll have another great experience with the Mkx. Thank you for recommending this vehicle, it's definitely worth considering, especially if you can pick up a low mileage used one for not much more than an Edge. Enjoy your new ride!

  3. Reuben Wisoky 2024-10-01

We traded in our Lexus RX and we are very happy with the decision! 👍

  4. Ferne Hauck 2024-09-11

I purchased my MKX 2 years ago and I still love it just as much as when I first bought it. The comfort level and interior are superior! As a real estate agent, everyone who rides in my car tells me how comfortable and sturdy it feels. I highly recommend buying one, you won't regret it. I get great gas mileage running around town, about 19, and on the highway about 23. That's not bad for the size and comfort.

  5. Rene Green 2024-08-19

The car was exactly as advertised!
