2016 Lincoln Mkt problems
The Lincoln MKT is a full-size luxury crossover SUV with 3-row seating that was marketed by the Lincoln division of Ford Motor Company; a single generation was produced from the 2010 to the 2019 model years. Slotted between the Lincoln MKX (renamed the Lincoln Nautilus) and the Lincoln Navigator, the MKT shared its Ford D4 chassis with the Ford Flex CUV and the 2011-2019 Ford Explorer.
While the MKT had no direct Lincoln predecessor, its introduction coincided with the discontinuation of the Mercury Mountaineer (based on the Ford Explorer); a livery variant of the MKT continued the use of the Lincoln Town Car name.
After the 2019 model year, Ford ended the use of its D3/D4 chassis, discontinuing the MKT and counterparts. Within the Lincoln model range, the MKT was not directly replaced, but the second-generation Lincoln Aviator is a 3-row Lincoln CUV. It is mid-size and slotted between the Nautilus and Navigator.
Throughout its production, the MKT was assembled by Ford of Canada at its Oakville Assembly facility at Oakville, Ontario, Canada.

- Leaking fluid smell: The 2013 MKT has a report of a leaking fluid smell, which could indicate a problem with the vehicle's cooling, brake, or power steering systems. If not addressed promptly, this issue could lead to more severe problems down the line.
- Vibration while driving: A vibration while driving has been reported in the 2014 MKT, which could be caused by various factors, such as tire balance issues, suspension problems, or drivetrain malfunctions. This issue, while rare, can affect the overall driving experience and safety of the vehicle.
- Electrical issues: The 2016 Lincoln MKZ, a midsize luxury sedan, has been reported to have electrical issues, including power steering failure and loss of control. These problems can lead to safety concerns and require costly repairs.

UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2021-05-14
- VIN: 2LMHJ5AT7GB
- Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: Panoramic sunroof shattered and it’s broken in pieces now; No longer just shattered I am on the phone with a George Hilliker from the Newark CarMax now. To my dismay there is nothing that can be done since this is not a mechanical defect. So at this point I am going to definitely cancel the extended CarMax care that I did sign up for him to help offset my cost for my deductible to deal with this damage. I would regret not turning around and returning the car on May 4 just because I heard the sound and had no idea what the consequences of that would turn into. I will also convey this in the survey request that I have received from Carmax. Taking this up any further would only cause me more frustration and money, But at this juncture I will definitely speak with a lawyer to see what my options are that way sinceI am now stuck with this vehicle. Granted had I known it had started breaking the glass on the third I would’ve returned it at any Carmax between Colorado and Delaware.

THEN A WINDOW APPEARS IN LY CAR SAYING YOUR STEERING HAS FAILED PULL OVER SAFELY . LITTLE LATE FOR THAT. AFTER GETTING CAR TO DEALER AND WAITING I SEARCHED AND FOUND ELECTRIC STEERING RECALL FROM 2015 SOME 400K CARS. THE SAME YEAR MINE WAS BUILT. DEALER SAYS NO BUT ITS THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM.
STRUCTURE PROBLEM

- Components: STRUCTURE
- Summary: I HAVE OWNED THIS CAR FOR LESS THAN A YEAR AND THE MOONROOF HAS SHATTERED ON ME TWICE ALREADY. THE FRONT ONE TO BE EXACT, BOTH TIMES IT WAS RAINING BUT NORMAL RAIN, I LIVE IN NORTHEN CALIFORNIA. NO OBJECTS HIT MY CAR AND NO ACCIDENT. IT SOUNDS LIKE A LOUD GUNSHOT NEAR YOU AND ITS VERY SCARY I ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE I SWERVED TO NEXT LANE DUE TO BEING SCARED OF THE LOUD NOISE. FIRST TIME I WAS ON MY WAY TO RENO AND I HAD TO KEEP GOING BUT IT WAS HELL AND ONE OF THE WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE. PART OF THE GLASS FLEW OFF WITHIN MINUTES OF ME DRIVING SO RAIN GOT INTO MY CAR. I HAD TO TAPE A TARP DOWN WITH GORILLA TAPE TO GET TO A SAFE DESTINATION. THERE WAS GLASS INSIDE THE CAR AND MY LITTLE BROTHER GOT CUT ON HIS ARM, THIS GLASS IS THICK AND HEAVY! THE SECOND TIME WAS 8 MONTHS AFTER I HAD IT REPAIRED. RAINING AGAIN BUT THIS TIME I WAS AT A STOP LIGHT WHEN I HEARD THE GUNSHOT NOISE AND I IMMEDIATELY KNEW WHAT HAPPENED. I WAS SCARED BUT SO VERY UPSET THAT IT HAPPENED AGAIN JUST MONTHS APART. IT'S VERY UPSETTING THAT LINCOLN HAS NOT RECOGNIZED THIS AS A DEFECT ON THIS VEHICLE. I HAVE READ NUMEROUS BLOGS AS ON HERE THE SAME COMPLAINT FROM PEOPLE ALL OVER THE US THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED TO. IT'S SO UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND UPSETTING BECAUSE I REALLY LOVE THE VEHICLE OTHER THAN THAT HUGE DEFECT. ON TOP OF THAT THIS REPAIR IS COSTLY, GLASS ALONE IS $1400-1600 WITHOUT LABOR IN MY AREA. I HOPE THAT LINCOLN WILL SOON TAKE RESPONSIBILITY AND I PLAN TO KEEP FIGHTING THIS FIGHT AS I HAVE A FEELING THIS WILL CONTINUE TO HAPPEN. I FEEL SO UNSAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE NOW. I REALLY HOPE MORE PEOPLE COMPLAIN AND SPEAK UP.

It sounds like you have a great car that meets all of your wife's needs! The AWD works great and the Ecoboost V6 is very powerful, making the car fast and efficient. It's great to hear that it handles well on country roads and that you haven't had any major issues with it. It's understandable that your wife wishes they still made them. Thank you for sharing your positive experience with us!

Hi there! I noticed that the car doesn't come with an ashtray or lighter, and the compartment is quite small. Also, there doesn't seem to be a cover for the cargo area behind the 3 seats. Just thought I'd let you know!
-
I love this car! It has everything I've ever looked for and more.

Hi there! I just wanted to share that we've had a really positive experience with our car. We often get compliments on how sleek it looks, and people are surprised to hear that it's actually quite affordable. We've put 45,000 miles on it and have only had to take it to the shop once for a sunroof issue that was covered under warranty. We did need to replace the battery and tires, but that's to be expected with any car. We opted for the Turbo and it's definitely quick! Overall, we think it's a great car.

I have no regrets with this vehicle because it is a Lincoln, which possesses the heritage of the brand, but with the creativity of 21st Century thinking. I love the leather cabin and the out-of-the-box styling, it's like a plane flight on the ground. The MKT Lincoln has steering shifters with a semi-manual/full automatic feature, which is wonderful when you need a burst of performance when passing in traffic. As for its styling, the 1939's attributes are pure American, not Japanese or Chinese as many lost souls love to follow. The MKT styling is attributed to pure USA motoring of the 1930s. Note the prominent split ventilating front grill design and wagon/caboose liftgate - pure American. Everywhere I go, whether it's work, church or play, this crossover turns heads and the compliments have not stopped. I am an LMC fan and my next vehicle will be the SVC by Lincoln. I am a supporter of the Ford Motor Company. I know this is a bad word among those that swear their life upon anything other than American cars, trucks or SUV's, but if you don't stand for American, you'll stand for anything.

Although I take responsibility for purchasing this car, I must express my disappointment with it. The car's narrow design makes it uncomfortable for long trips, and the two-zone comfort system is not as advertised, with only one fan. Additionally, the safety system's beeping and on-screen messages can be distracting. The car also has some design flaws, such as whistling in windy conditions or when passed by other vehicles. Overall, these issues detract from the car's quality and usability.

This car had numerous repairs under the extended warranty, including a new steering gear, 3 control arm replacements, rear seal replacement, adaptive cruise control replacement, and fixing numerous rattles. Although it rides very hard on rougher roads, the performance on acceleration is good and it is a smooth ride on good roads. The front seats are not comfortable due to a platform directly under your feet that does not allow you to place your feet flat on the floor. However, there is lots of room for storage. While the residual value is not high, this car is still a good investment due to its smooth ride and good performance.
