While the MKT had no direct Lincoln predecessor, its introduction coincided with the discontinuation of the Mercury Mountaineer (based on the Ford Explorer); a livery variant of the MKT continued the use of the Lincoln Town Car name.
After the 2019 model year, Ford ended the use of its D3/D4 chassis, discontinuing the MKT and counterparts. Within the Lincoln model range, the MKT was not directly replaced, but the second-generation Lincoln Aviator is a 3-row Lincoln CUV. It is mid-size and slotted between the Nautilus and Navigator.
Throughout its production, the MKT was assembled by Ford of Canada at its Oakville Assembly facility at Oakville, Ontario, Canada.

- Summary: On [XXX] the drivers side keyless entry fell off our vehicle while traveling on the Ohio turnpike. The wiring harness held the trim component from falling off the vehicle, but caused it to fling and smash into the vehicle until we pulled off the turnpike. We duct taped the part in place until we could get the vehicle to our local Lincoln dealer. I noticed that the part had no clips to hold it into place, just double sided sticky tape that had only adhered to about 1/3 of the frame. On inspection, we noticed that the passenger side trim was also loose. I was told by Lincoln that at 53,000 miles this was a trim part and not considered an electrical component. We purchased a new component (part # BE9Z7420555BA) and had the dealership (Signature Ford of Owosso, MI) install the part. Now on [XXX] we heard a rattle coming from the drivers door. On inspection, the new part has almost came off again as well as the passenger side trim. We checked for a recall and found that the Ford Edge (the same basic vehicle with a Ford logo) has a recall on this same component. Can you be of any help in this matter. - Summary: The contact owns a 2018 Lincoln MKT. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the exterior windshield trim on the driver's side door detached. After some time, the exterior windshield trim on the passenger's side door also detached. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who did not provide a specific diagnosis, but the vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 49,000.

- Summary: My wife and I purchased a Certified, Pre-Owned, 2018 Lincoln MKT for her in July. Last month we finally looked at dash covers. Many Ford vehicles, including ours, have Adaptive Cruise Control. One feature included in this option is a Collision Warning System which flashes a row of red lights on the dash when it activates. Several manufacturers required the dash cover purchaser to check off whether, or not, their vehicle had Adaptive Cruise Control. My wife liked a fabric pattern offered by Coverking. When I found no place to check off Adaptive Cruise Control on their order system, I stopped placing the order and sent them an inquiry as to whether their dash covers had the necessary cutout for this feature because it doesn’t do any good to have such a great safety feature if the dash cover blocks the flashing lights. They responded and referred me to the following on their website “All Coverking Dash Covers are designed from the original vehicle dashboard using sophisticated software. Therefore, all cutouts, sensors, cup holders, and airbag openings are studied and the Coverking Dash Cover is designed not to interfere. Making the Coverking Dash Cover a superior product over the competition.” With that assurance, I returned to the website and placed my order. I was surprised to receive a dash cover with no cutout for the red lights. See attached picture. Please note that I MADE THE CUTOUT shown in the picture. You can see the absence of the black edge trim around the cutout I made. Blocking the driver from being able to see a very important safety feature when it activates, and which is intended to help the driver avoid a collision. is inexcusable. Question: “How many avoidable accidents have drivers had due to the negligence of Coverking in not providing the necessary cutout over the Collision warning red lights?”

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued 1 recalls for different components of the 2018 Lincoln Mkt.

- Components: SUSPENSION:REAR
- Summary: Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2013-2018 Lincoln MKT and Ford Flex and Taurus vehicles with the Police Interceptor or SHO Performance Pack. The rear suspension toe links may fracture due to stress on the rear suspension.
- Consequence: A fractured rear toe link will cause a sudden change in vehicle handling and increase the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the rear suspension toe links, free of charge. Remedy parts are not currently available. Owners were notified about the recall on March 3, 2020. A second notice will be mailed when remedy parts become available, which is currently expected to be the end of September 2020. The recall began October 28, 2020. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 or Lincoln customer service at 1-800-521-4140. Ford's number for this recall is 20S04.

Our MKT has been with us for over a year now, and it continues to exceed our expectations. It's spacious, comfortable, powerful, and surprisingly agile for a vehicle of its size. It's perfect for long road trips, and it's so comfortable that you might forget how long you've been driving (but don't worry, it will remind you when it's time for a break!). The electronic features are very effective, especially the adaptive cruise control, which is simply amazing. The lane departure system is equally useful and predictable. Some people find the styling to be controversial, but I personally think it's long, low, elegant, and even a bit menacing. The low center of gravity also helps with handling.

I was initially considering the Land Rover RR Sport, but I found that the MKT was a great alternative. It's an elegant car that comes packed with technology, including adaptive cruise and cooled seats both in the front and rear. I really like the style of the car, as it's elegant and stands out. I'm not sure why critics don't like the styling. Although some elements reveal that the platform is based on a family car, such as the old-fashioned foot-operated parking brake and the lack of front parking sensors even on the top-level model, the car still has great power with its 365 hp V6 engine. The interior style with two rows of bucket seats is also great.

Clearly the best car you've ever owned! It's too bad they are no longer made, but a good used one is definitely worth getting. You've had 5 Navigators, a BMW X5, a Mercedes, and more, but the MKT is by far the best of the bunch.

I have no regrets with this vehicle because it is a Lincoln, which possesses the heritage of the brand, but with the creativity of 21st Century thinking. I love the leather cabin and the out-of-the-box styling, it's like a plane flight on the ground. The MKT Lincoln has steering shifters with a semi-manual/full automatic feature, which is wonderful when you need a burst of performance when passing in traffic. As for its styling, the 1939's attributes are pure American, not Japanese or Chinese as many lost souls love to follow. The MKT styling is attributed to pure USA motoring of the 1930s. Note the prominent split ventilating front grill design and wagon/caboose liftgate - pure American. Everywhere I go, whether it's work, church or play, this crossover turns heads and the compliments have not stopped. I am an LMC fan and my next vehicle will be the SVC by Lincoln. I am a supporter of the Ford Motor Company. I know this is a bad word among those that swear their life upon anything other than American cars, trucks or SUV's, but if you don't stand for American, you'll stand for anything.

It sounds like you have a great car that meets all of your wife's needs! The AWD works great and the Ecoboost V6 is very powerful, making the car fast and efficient. It's great to hear that it handles well on country roads and that you haven't had any major issues with it. It's understandable that your wife wishes they still made them. Although I take responsibility for purchasing this car, I must express my disappointment with it. The car's narrow design makes it uncomfortable for long trips, and the two-zone comfort system is not as advertised, with only one fan. Additionally, the safety system's beeping and on-screen messages can be distracting. The car also has some design flaws, such as whistling in windy conditions or when passed by other vehicles. Overall, these issues detract from the car's quality and usability.

This car had numerous repairs under the extended warranty, including a new steering gear, 3 control arm replacements, rear seal replacement, adaptive cruise control replacement, and fixing numerous rattles. Although it rides very hard on rougher roads, the performance on acceleration is good and it is a smooth ride on good roads. The front seats are not comfortable due to a platform directly under your feet that does not allow you to place your feet flat on the floor. However, there is lots of room for storage. While the residual value is not high, this car is still a good investment due to its smooth ride and good performance.
