The Jeep Compass is a compact crossover SUV introduced for the 2007 model year, and is currently in its second generation. The first generation Compass and Patriot, its rebadged variant, were among Jeep's first crossover SUVs. The second-generation Compass debuted in September 2016 in Brazil and at the Los Angeles International Auto Show in November 2016, sharing a modified platform with the Renegade. It is positioned between the smaller Renegade and the larger Cherokee globally or the Commander in South America.
Concept
Four years prior to the introduction of the production Jeep Compass, a concept vehicle with the same name had its world premiere in Detroit at the 2002 North American International Auto Show. It featured a two-door body, all-wheel drive and a 3.7-liter V6 engine.
The 3.7 L Power-Tech V6 engine from the Jeep Liberty was not available in the new Compass for 2007, though the production model Compass kept the concept car's styling cues and some of its features. The production model Compass also had four doors instead of the two doors on the concept car.

The Jeep Compass is a compact SUV that has been produced by the Jeep division of FCA US LLC (formerly Chrysler Group LLC) since 2006. While the Jeep Compass has received mixed reviews regarding its reliability, it has above-average ratings from RepairPal, ranking it 11th out of 26 models. However, some model years have been reported to have more issues than others.
The 2007 Jeep Compass is considered the worst model year for this compact SUV, with control arm and bushing failure being the most common problem. The 2014 Jeep Compass has a loud noise coming from the back brakes, which has no repair option, and it appears at around 10k miles. Another prevalent issue this year is the no crank or start condition related to a faulty wireless control module (WCM). When the WCM fails, the remote keyless entry system will also not operate. Replacing the WCM is the standard solution to correct this problem.
The 2018 Jeep Compass has a no-start condition, which is a somewhat common problem. - Summary: The automatic emergency braking / collision avoidance system engages randomly when there is no risk of collision and often times with no cars or obstacles in sight. For example, when driving on an open interstate highway. Without any apparent reason, the collision avoidance system alerts of an imminent collision and the automatic emergency braking system applies hard braking for a short interval or 1 to 2 seconds. This could result in a rear end collision if a following vehicle were unable to react in time to slow down. Additionally, the system will activate while navigating curves, applying hard braking pressure that could cause loss of control. In a little over a year of ownership, this issue has occurred approximately 12+ times. Changing the sensitivity of the system has not effect, as it still occurs even at the lowest sensitivity settings (shortest warning interval applied in vehicle settings)

The steering gear has been recalled for certain models but not all, my car has the exact same issue but its not listed on the recall. This problem could lead to loss of steering and a crash per the Safety Recall V99/NHTSA 19V-637. The car has been inspected by a Jeep dealer and they confirmed the steering gear is the problem. The symptoms have been present for at least a year, and has been getting worse. I am concerned for my safety and I do not have to means to pay for this repair.

- Summary: My start-stop system engaged while I was in a turning lane at a traffic light and turned my engine off. When the light turned green, I lifted my foot off the brake and the vehicle attempted to restart but stalled. My emergency parking break engaged and multiple service lights appeared on my dash including: service transmission, service engine, service traction control, service emergency breaking system, service start-stop system. I tried to restart my vehicle using the push-start button but it would not start my engine. I turned on my hazards and sat there for a moment as other drivers were forced to go around me. Minutes later I turned the vehicle off and tried to restart it again and my engine started up this time. I started to drive but noticed the power behind the gas pedal was reduced, luckily I was only minutes from work. A few hours later when I started my vehicle, only the engine light and “service stop-start system” were on. 12 hours later, when I left work, only the “service stop-start system” was on.

- Summary: Bought my vehicle new at 29 miles. At 4k miles my auto braking light would come in as off. Every 2k it would turn itself off, even though I want the feature on. Even though it says it's off there will be times the warning will alert me to brake for no reason and someone's brake for no reason. I've gone to the dealer multiple times and they wouldn't find a code or a reason why it was doing that, and brush it off like nothing. every 2k miles out would turn off. Now after hitting over 40k miles I started to experience it more often where it would tell me brake. Now something at 49k miles. When I'm on a slight hill or high incline when my vehicle turns off and tries to start it will roll back and not move forward even when I apply the gas like the engine is still off. When that happens the SERVICE HILL HOLDER, and then multiple other safety features have warnings for, SERVICE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL, DRIVE MODE UNAVAILABLE, ACTIVE LANE MANAGEMENT UNAVAILABLE SERVICE REQUIRED, AUTO EMERGENCY BRAKING UNAVAILABLE SERVICE REQUIRED, STOP/START UNAVAILABLE SERVICE START/STOP SYSTEM. I told the dealer that had my car for a month at 49k miles about the hill holder and what my vehicle did. No results and still have this issue. When you turn off the vehicle the service lights disappear and can't be read. This happens almost every day now. I replaced my AUX battery after it seems to happen when my vehicle is off and struggled to turn back on at times and it still does it. I'm afraid that I'm going to get into an accident when people see I took my foot off the brake and will get rear ended or if my vehicle is going to brake itself and cause an accident or the other safely issue fail. The stability control can be an issue and drive mode I can't turn off or on those features when those notifications pop up. What can happen, will it eventually do this on a freeway and cause a major accident or when I'm through an intersection..5 different dealers and have no answer... Help

Vehicle year: 2021
During our trip to Colorado last week, we were fortunate enough to have our compact car reservation upgraded to a 4WD Limited Compass. We drove it all over Colorado, including I70, I25, and lots of mountain roads, such as Independence Pass, Pikes Peak, and Mt Elbert. I must say, I really enjoyed this SUV! The first thing that struck me was how solid and substantial it felt going over bumps. In my opinion, the handling on curvy mountain roads was outstanding. Power was not an issue either. I believe the reason it's reported as underpowered is that you don't feel the speed. When accelerating onto a highway, you don't feel or hear much, but before you know it, you're doing 50 in just a few seconds. It's also great to be getting 30 MPG! Although it lacks cargo space compared to some, it still easily accommodated my son's hockey bag, two roller bags, and several backpacks. We put 1000 miles on this car during our trip, and I will definitely request this car again next time!

I've been driving the 2018 Jeep Compass Limited for just over 3 weeks now and I have to say, it's a fantastic car! Before I dive into the pros and cons, let me give you a little background. I mainly use this vehicle for commuting, but I do take it off-road occasionally. I've read a few reviews on the new Compass that I felt were a bit extreme and not entirely accurate. If you're looking for an honest, unbiased review, keep reading. Pros: Exterior re-design - This car looks sharp! In the 3 weeks I've owned it, I've received many compliments on its appearance. The face lift of the Compass is extremely similar to the Grand Cherokee and at a quick glance, it looks like an Evoque with its two-tone color format. There are a few LED light upgrades which give the car a more luxurious feel. Interior: Keep in mind that this is a small SUV, but the car is comfortable with a surprising amount of room for backseat passengers. The seats and trim also feel sturdy and well-made. Not to mention, the U-Connect system allows you to customize the lights, display themes, etc. to make the interior customized to your liking. Most trims also have Apple Car Play. My trim came with a panoramic sunroof which is a very cool feature. The roof is all glass which passengers enjoy. Drive Comfort: This car isn't going to blow you away with performance. However, if you're simply looking for a car to get you from A to B with a little pep in its step when needed, this car does just fine. I've driven it on highways, city streets, backroads, etc. and the car has a smooth feel on all terrains. This car also allows you to change the drive setting based on terrain (Auto, Snow, Sand, Mud). Safety: The new Compass comes with 7 airbags standard. I decided to purchase the safety package which comes with lane assist, blind spot monitoring, and forward collision warning.I recently purchased this car and wanted to share my experience. While there are a few cons, such as the engine shutting off when idle for more than 5 seconds and the multi air engine revving a little higher than I'd like when accelerating uphill, these are minor issues that can be easily addressed. In my opinion, this car is a great choice if you're looking for an attractive vehicle with off-road capability, a comfortable ride, decent performance, and a high-tech interior with plenty of upgrade options. However, if you need a powerful SUV with better towing capacity, you may want to consider the Grand Cherokee. Overall, I would rate this car 9.5/10. I purchased my Compass brand new for around $30k. As a driver, I take it easy on the engine and brakes. My Compass has an impressive 307,000 miles on it and I've only had to change the brakes once. It has been a reliable vehicle with low maintenance requirements, thanks to regular full synthetic oil changes and one tune-up. I use it to transport rescue dogs and it can comfortably fit two large crates in the back with the seats down. I absolutely adore my Compass! The only downside is the CVT transmission, which can only be serviced by a dealer or AAMCO, even for an oil check. I had to replace my transmission about 4 years ago at 180,000 miles, which cost me around $5,000. I have learned my lesson and will never purchase another car with a CVT transmission! Recently, I had to replace the air conditioner (compressor and condenser), but after 300,000 miles, I consider that normal wear and tear. Overall, it has been an amazing and dependable vehicle, and over 1,500 dogs would agree with me! Some even tried the back seat and decided that foam is overrated. So, if you're in the market for a new car, I highly recommend a Jeep and remember to Adopt Don't Shop! LOL.

I'm really happy with my purchase! I bought the 2wd 2.0 5Spd Manual and have already been through 3 tanks of gas. Although I don't count the first one because I'm not sure if the dealership filled it all the way, I got 30.1MPG and 30.9mpg on the 2nd and 3rd tanks (calculated manually miles/gallons). I absolutely love it and hope it just keeps getting better. I drive about 90% on the highway, going 65MPH or less. I also have a ScanGaugeII that helps with my driving technique, so I'll probably improve the MPG even more. I chose this car because it's great value for money compared to others.

The ride is quiet and the GPS is easy to use. The gas mileage is around 20mpg, but it seems to have to hit 5rpm or higher to shift. The 4x4 is actually AWD and only 4wd low, but the seats lay almost flat backwards for naps, making it very comfortable for a Jeep. On the highway, it is very quiet and has a nice ride. The handsfree bluetooth is a nice safety feature that takes over your phone call when you start the truck. The caller can even hear you clearly and the people in the back seat too! The GPS is fairly easy to use, but the huge sound system is not as good as the base model radio due to a 3 band EQ with no sub adjustment. In the 4 fillups I've had, the max I've driven is 250 miles on 13 gallons, but it has been worse ever since.

This car has several issues that need to be addressed. The ride is bouncy, the brake pedal is short, and the electric system (radio/dashboard) goes on and off. Additionally, the drivers seat is uncomfortable, the oil level frequently goes low, and the car stalls out. These issues are concerning and need to be resolved. It is recommended that these issues be addressed before purchasing this car.

I rented this vehicle once and enjoyed the drive, so I decided to purchase one for myself. However, I have had some issues with it. While I wish it had cost less, I still appreciate its value. I have had to repair the stabilization in both front axles and the throttle body, which seems to be a common problem in this model. I have heard that the updated models have improved, but I have yet to see it for myself. Despite these issues, the car has been great on gas and has only required minor maintenance. The only problem I have experienced is a sudden rise in RPM when going up hills, which may require a transmission check. Overall, I would recommend this car with some caution.

Despite bringing it to the Jeep dealership in Brandon Florida, they were unable to diagnose the issue without experiencing it themselves. Additionally, the car's narrow design makes it uncomfortable and there are several unsafe blind spots, particularly the front left. It is important to exercise caution when driving through crowded parking lots to avoid any potential accidents. However, the exterior design is aesthetically pleasing and it has a decent fuel economy of 19 city and 22 highway mpg.

At 40,000 miles, we needed a whole new front end, including lower control arms, tie rod ends, stabilizer rods, and steering linkage. At 80,000 miles, we repeated the process and also replaced the rear sway bar. It's worth noting that we never took the vehicle off-road.
