The Jeep Compass is a compact crossover SUV introduced for the 2007 model year, and is currently in its second generation. The first generation Compass and Patriot, its rebadged variant, were among Jeep's first crossover SUVs. The second-generation Compass debuted in September 2016 in Brazil and at the Los Angeles International Auto Show in November 2016, sharing a modified platform with the Renegade. It is positioned between the smaller Renegade and the larger Cherokee globally or the Commander in South America.
Concept
Four years prior to the introduction of the production Jeep Compass, a concept vehicle with the same name had its world premiere in Detroit at the 2002 North American International Auto Show. It featured a two-door body, all-wheel drive and a 3.7-liter V6 engine.
The 3.7 L Power-Tech V6 engine from the Jeep Liberty was not available in the new Compass for 2007, though the production model Compass kept the concept car's styling cues and some of its features. The production model Compass also had four doors instead of the two doors on the concept car.

The Jeep Compass is a compact SUV that has been produced by the Jeep division of FCA US LLC (formerly Chrysler Group LLC) since 2006. While the Jeep Compass has received mixed reviews regarding its reliability, it has above-average ratings from RepairPal, ranking it 11th out of 26 models. However, some model years have been reported to have more issues than others.
The 2007 Jeep Compass is considered the worst model year for this compact SUV, with control arm and bushing failure being the most common problem. Several owners have reported that the control arm bushings just failed, which is a headache because it occurs at lower mileage, around 58k miles on average. The 2014 Jeep Compass has a loud noise coming from the back brakes, which has no repair option, and it appears at around 10k miles. Another prevalent issue this year is the no crank or start condition related to a faulty wireless control module (WCM). When the WCM fails, the remote keyless entry system will also not operate. Replacing the WCM is the standard solution to correct this problem.
The 2018 Jeep Compass has a no-start condition, which is a somewhat common problem. According to the affected owners, they first noticed the issue when the vehicle was still relatively new, at approximately 25,000 miles. - Summary: The automatic emergency braking / collision avoidance system engages randomly when there is no risk of collision and often times with no cars or obstacles in sight. For example, when driving on an open interstate highway. Without any apparent reason, the collision avoidance system alerts of an imminent collision and the automatic emergency braking system applies hard braking for a short interval or 1 to 2 seconds. This could result in a rear end collision if a following vehicle were unable to react in time to slow down. Additionally, the system will activate while navigating curves, applying hard braking pressure that could cause loss of control. In a little over a year of ownership, this issue has occurred approximately 12+ times. Changing the sensitivity of the system has not effect, as it still occurs even at the lowest sensitivity settings (shortest warning interval applied in vehicle settings)

- Summary: The steering gear has failed and is making a popping noise every time you steer to the left or right. The steering gear has been recalled for certain models but not all, my car has the exact same issue but its not listed on the recall. This problem could lead to loss of steering and a crash per the Safety Recall V99/NHTSA 19V-637. The car has been inspected by a Jeep dealer and they confirmed the steering gear is the problem. The symptoms have been present for at least a year, and has been getting worse. I am concerned for my safety and I do not have to means to pay for this repair.

- Summary: My start-stop system engaged while I was in a turning lane at a traffic light and turned my engine off. When the light turned green, I lifted my foot off the brake and the vehicle attempted to restart but stalled. My emergency parking break engaged and multiple service lights appeared on my dash including: service transmission, service engine, service traction control, service emergency breaking system, service start-stop system. I tried to restart my vehicle using the push-start button but it would not start my engine. I turned on my hazards and sat there for a moment as other drivers were forced to go around me. Minutes later I turned the vehicle off and tried to restart it again and my engine started up this time. I started to drive but noticed the power behind the gas pedal was reduced, luckily I was only minutes from work. A few hours later when I started my vehicle, only the engine light and “service stop-start system” were on. 12 hours later, when I left work, only the “service stop-start system” was on.

- Summary: Bought my vehicle new at 29 miles. At 4k miles my auto braking light would come in as off. Every 2k it would turn itself off, even though I want the feature on. Even though it says it's off there will be times the warning will alert me to brake for no reason and someone's brake for no reason. I've gone to the dealer multiple times and they wouldn't find a code or a reason why it was doing that, and brush it off like nothing. every 2k miles out would turn off. Now after hitting over 40k miles I started to experience it more often where it would tell me brake. Now something at 49k miles. When I'm on a slight hill or high incline when my vehicle turns off and tries to start it will roll back and not move forward even when I apply the gas like the engine is still off. When that happens the SERVICE HILL HOLDER, and then multiple other safety features have warnings for, SERVICE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL, DRIVE MODE UNAVAILABLE, ACTIVE LANE MANAGEMENT UNAVAILABLE SERVICE REQUIRED, AUTO EMERGENCY BRAKING UNAVAILABLE SERVICE REQUIRED, STOP/START UNAVAILABLE SERVICE START/STOP SYSTEM. I told the dealer that had my car for a month at 49k miles about the hill holder and what my vehicle did. No results and still have this issue. When you turn off the vehicle the service lights disappear and can't be read. This happens almost every day now. I replaced my AUX battery after it seems to happen when my vehicle is off and struggled to turn back on at times and it still does it. I'm afraid that I'm going to get into an accident when people see I took my foot off the brake and will get rear ended or if my vehicle is going to brake itself and cause an accident or the other safely issue fail. The stability control can be an issue and drive mode I can't turn off or on those features when those notifications pop up. What can happen, will it eventually do this on a freeway and cause a major accident or when I'm through an intersection..5 different dealers and have no answer... Help

I've had my 2020 Compass (High Altitude Trim) for a few weeks now and I must say, it's better than what the reviews would have you believe. While it can get a bit expensive (mine was 33k), all of the similar competitors fully loaded are as well. The interior is nice, although it has a bit more plastic than some competitors. However, the plastic materials are nice and it retains that Jeep feel if that's what you're after. Some high notes include the booming Alpine sound system and the 8.4” touchscreen with the killer uConnect system. Finally, the driving experience is wildly different than what the reviews suggest. Jeep has definitely done something behind the scenes with the transmission tuning since the review models were in the wild. It shifts like butter now, seems to find the right gear for the job, and the engine is spunkier than I thought it would be. Sure, a turbocharged 4 would be a nice addition, but I don't find it lacking for power and put the engine on par with what is found in my family's similarly equipped CRV and Tiguan. Overall, the Compass has those killer Jeep good looks, a better than expected driving experience, and a class-leading technology package with its uConnect system. If reliability holds up (always the caveat with an FCA product), consider this a 5-star review and consider me a happy customer. As an aside, as a Jeep fan, I must say the Easter eggs all over the car are awesome!

I'm so glad I waited for the 2009 model! The new interior is fantastic. In my opinion, the manual transmission is definitely the way to go. I had the chance to drive a CVT version (as a rental) and I didn't enjoy it as much. I absolutely love the Rally E package and the upgraded sound system is much clearer and sharper than my old Rockford Fosgate (Mitsubishi) stereo. Without the downshift of the manual, long hills could be a problem, but other than that, the overall pick-up is fine. As someone who commutes daily, I can say that the Compass is great in snowy/icy conditions. I'm extremely pleased with my Compass and I feel like I got a lot for my money.

I'm really glad to hear that you're enjoying your 2010 4x4 Sport Automatic! It looks great and it's fantastic that it's comfortable and spacious enough for your needs. It's interesting to note that the top half of the gas tank performs better than the lower half, with 28-29mpg compared to 22-23mpg respectively. While some have noticed a 'wobble' during braking, it's great to hear that it doesn't happen frequently and that the car handles very well with stability and traction control. It's also convenient that you can easily switch to manual when needed. I understand that you have a couple of concerns, such as the noticeable feel when the car downshifts, and the lack of adjustment buttons for the radio on the steering wheel for safety reasons. I bought a brand new 2018 car in February. Unfortunately, it has been in the shop four times since then. The auto shut off light keeps coming on and the message 'drive to safety engine will shut off soon' keeps appearing. The first time it happened, I had to miss a day of work and have it towed to the shop. They kept it for a day and said it was fine. However, the same thing happened again and I had to have it towed to the shop for the second time. This time, they kept it for a week and gave it back to me, saying it was fixed. But, the same issue occurred for the third time and I had to drive it to the shop myself as I didn't want to wait for their tow. They said they fixed it again, but now it's the fourth time and the same issue has occurred. They have had my car for almost four weeks this time. I have made two payments on a car that I am not even driving half the time. I am currently working with Lemon Law lawyers to give this car back. I had a 2002 Mitsubishi that I did not even buy new and had it for eight years. It was only on a tow truck once. I thought I would get a new car since it has been a while for me, but I should have kept my old car. No payments and it was never in the shop this much.

I rented this vehicle once and enjoyed the drive, so I decided to purchase one for myself. However, I have had some issues with it. While I wish it had cost less, I still appreciate its value. I have had to repair the stabilization in both front axles and the throttle body, which seems to be a common problem in this model. I have heard that the updated models have improved, but I have yet to see it for myself. Despite these issues, the car has been great on gas and has only required minor maintenance. The only problem I have experienced is a sudden rise in RPM when going up hills, which may require a transmission check. Overall, I would recommend this car with some caution.

Despite my efforts to maintain it well, my Chrysler vehicle kept stalling and overheating after 150,000 km. Despite bringing it to Chrysler service four times, the problem was never resolved. Additionally, I was unable to check my transmission oil myself and had to bring it to the shop every time. Unfortunately, this vehicle did not meet my expectations and I rate it close to a 1. While I have purchased other vehicles from Chrysler in the past and have liked them, this particular one was a disappointment. I have spoken to many other owners who have experienced similar issues, with some experiencing problems as early as 10,000 km and others like myself experiencing issues after 100,000 km. It is a shame, as I have always had a positive opinion of Chrysler.

Although the Trialhawk has many safety features and looks great, it is important to be aware that it may experience some issues. Unfortunately, we have experienced a few problems with our Trialhawk, such as the driver side sun visor dropping down on one side on the second day of owning it. Additionally, the car went into limp mode about a week later after being started with the start engine button due to the automatic stop engine function. During the first year, the gearbox lever got jammed, which caused the car to not start. The forward collision radar, which is located close to the road surface, was also damaged by some road hazard, but it was recalibrated. We were concerned when Jeep tried to sell us a new one instead, which would have cost around $1400. We have also experienced constant problems with the automatic start/stop function, which appears to be related to the second battery dying. It was replaced, but on the second day after the replacement, there was an error with the start/stop function. The car also had an oil leak at around 30k miles, which was fixed, but now has a gearbox leak at around 40k miles. Finally, the lift gate glass exploded yesterday in the parking lot. Despite these issues, there are still many things to love about this car, but it is important to be aware of its potential quality issues.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to ask if anyone else has had a similar experience with the 08 COMPASS. I was really enjoying the car until I encountered an incline and it started rolling back instead of moving forward. Other than that, it seems like a great little car. I reported the issue to Chrysler's headquarters and they were very responsive - they picked up the car just 20 minutes after I called. I'm currently waiting to hear back from them.
