The 3.7 L Power-Tech V6 engine from the Jeep Liberty was not available in the new Compass for 2007, though the production model Compass kept the concept car's styling cues and some of its features. The production model Compass also had four doors instead of the two doors on the concept car.

- Summary: My car stalls while driving often. I’ve also experienced my car shutting off while driving a few times. It sometimes shows a red lightning bolt. I am very scared for my life and the lives of other drivers while I drive this vehicle because I never know if or when my car will stall in the middle of me driving at speeds above 50 miles per hour. The car will usually stall for about 10-15seconds and then power back on, but sometimes the car just shuts off and slows down so I have to pull over because it wont accelerate since the car just shut off. After pulling over, I wait bout 10 minutes and turn the car on and it’s fine. I took it to a mechanic multiple times and they can’t find the issue. They said they can only see what I’m talking about if the dash shows the check engine light but my check engine light is not on. This vehicle is not safe and I’m so afraid of the car shutting off mid driving. This started 2 years ago but the shut offs and stalls have been more frequent this year. Mechanics kept telling me it was probably spark plugs and we’ve changed those and the coils more than 6 times.

The FRONT SUBFRAME is also strating to pivot. Reading up on this issue it seems to be very common yet Chrysler has not made a recall for the safety of the passengers and driver and I was told by Chrysler that the extended warranty was only for models up until 2007 and that's it only for the original owner. I would like to report this issue as it is a serious problem.

- Summary: I owned a 2014 Jeep Compass with 63,xxx miles on it. I bought the vehicle brand new. On (3) occasions so far, the engine stalled out immediately after filling the gas tank. It will restart and sputter for 10-15 seconds and then run just fine. On the latest incident, after leaving a gas station after filling up the gas tank, I went to pull out into heavy, busy traffic, the engine stalled out once again. Placing me in a very dangerous situation! Obviously! My research on Jeep forums and other car maintenance websites shows the problem is very likely caused by a bad/defective Rollover Valve. The rollover valve is located inside the gas tank. Apparently, the valve gets triggered off while refilling the gas tank when near full. Noted that the Check Engine Light did not common on. During my research on Jeep Forums and other related Jeep websites, I've noticed the engine stalling issue on many other Jeep Compass and Jeep Patriots.

- Summary: 1.Electrical: the touch screen, which is used for the radio & backup camera, is completely shot. One day in May, I was driving my car & the screen went from working to a fuzzy image & then to it going completely black. The radio stopped working as well. The lights around the screen (connected to the buttons) work but tend to flicker every now & then. This is a safety risk for myself & my family because I don’t have the extra support & awareness to backup with confidence or warnings. It hasn’t been looked at by anyone & there were no warnings prior to failure. It has been a consistent failure since then. 2. Engine: Jeep keeps overheating. Has been since April. It was inspected by a mechanic & also paid to have it “fixed” however the problem persists. It is a safety issue because my car could overheat & stop working & cause issues with other drivers. I also have a 5 yo & we have to drive around with the windows down & heat on no matter the weather. Sometimes we get home & her face is bright red. Sometimes the warning light comes on & the fluid is at the appropriate level. 3. Tire pressure in at least one of my tires is always low. I receive a warning light almost every time I drive. These are brand new tires. After I fill up the tire, it is only “fixed” approx 1 day before the light comes back on. It was checked by mechanic & he stated there were no issues he could find. This has been ongoing since December 2021. This is a safety issue because I could get a flat tire & crash into other vehicles or cause an accident. Jeep is available for inspection upon request for all issues.

The Occupant Restraint Control (OCR) module may short circuit, preventing the frontal air bags, seat belt pretensioners, and side air bags from deploying in the event of a crash.
- Consequence: If the frontal air bags, seat belt pretensioners, and side air bags are disabled, there is an increased risk of injury to the vehicle occupants in the event of a vehicle crash that necessitates deployment of these safety systems.
- Remedy: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will replace the OCR, free of charge. Interim letters informing owners that parts are not available yet were mailed on October 26, 2016. The recall began on August 15, 2017. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is S61.

This vehicle was specially ordered with an upgraded engine, wheels, sound system, and power sunroof.

I purchased this 2013 Jeep Compass Sport because it came with a lifetime warranty, which I always wanted! I appreciate the Bluetooth and built-in hands-free cell phone feature, as well as the 6 CD/Satellite/AM/FM radio. The only drawbacks are the small trunk and fuel tank, and some wind noise from the door seals while driving. However, I am keeping it because I paid cash for it and it runs great!

I bought this vehicle for its lifestyle and utility purposes, such as carrying bikes, sports gear, and light hauling from the nursery or hardware store. The base Sport FWD with CVT offers a lot for its price. In addition to the standard power options, it also includes cruise control, an iPod jack, fog lights, heated mirrors, dark tinted glass on the rear windows, good-looking 17-inch alloy wheels, fold-flat rear seats, and roof rails. Since I primarily haul bikes, I purchased the factory crossbars and added bike racks. It's worth noting that nearly every other comparable vehicle only offers these options (if available at all) on much higher-end models that cost many thousands more.

Firstly, I must say that this car has been incredibly dependable without requiring any extra effort on my part. While it may be a bit pricey and lacking in some frills such as a locking glove box, an electronic plug-in in the rear seat area, and blinker lights on the side mirrors, I don't consider these to be major issues. The driver's side windshield pillar is a bit wide, which can be a safety concern when making left-hand turns. However, I absolutely adore the heated leather seats, rearview camera, and the ease of sliding right into the car with its 17-inch wheels and open sunroof. The front driver's seat is incredibly comfortable, although I haven't had the chance to ride in the passenger seat yet. Overall, I'm quite pleased with this car and someone had to drive it, after all!

I've had this car for four years now. I bought it used with only one previous owner and 29,000 miles. Unfortunately, after just one year of having the car, I had to replace the transmission. Thankfully, I had purchased an extended warranty, but it was still a bit of a headache. Fast forward another year, and every time I turn on the air (hot or cold), there's a loud clicking noise that comes from inside the dashboard. While it doesn't affect the car's performance, it's very annoying to listen to whenever I want air on in the car. And a few months later, my AC went out in the middle of summer. I really like the cloth seats, but I was wondering if it would be possible to have bench seats for these smaller vehicles with a little more cushion in them. Also, I was wondering if there is any way to simplify the cruise control. I have the 2.4 engine with 4wd, so if it's possible to set cruise control before going up hills, that would be great. Lastly, I was wondering if a 6 cylinder option was available. Thank you!

I recently acquired a 2.4 automatic Compass Limited, which unfortunately turned out to be a fleet vehicle. I didn't have a choice in the matter and therefore didn't get to test drive it beforehand. On the first night, I drove it home for 5 miles and the next morning, I realized that the remote access buttons on the key weren't working and the radio wasn't functioning either. Although these issues could be fixed, the biggest problem was with the engine/powertrain. The vehicle performed poorly when I tried to accelerate to change lanes or merge, and it pulled to the point of almost losing control. In comparison, I had previously driven a '12 Escape with a 2.5 engine, which was much more powerful. However, I was recently sent an email (2/4/17) to update my review. I no longer have the Compass, but instead, I have a 2017 Ford Escape with a 1.5 liter EcoBoost engine. This little car is a powerhouse and accelerates great, taking hills without any issues. Additionally, the car is much more solidly put together than the Compass, which had a light and cheap feel to both the door and interior. Although I'm not a huge fan of the exterior of the Escape, I'll live with it considering everything else that's great about the car. I received an email asking me to update my review, and I'm happy to say that it's now a positive one!
