2008 Jeep Compass problems
The Jeep Compass is a compact crossover SUV introduced for the 2007 model year, and is currently in its second generation. The first generation Compass and Patriot, its rebadged variant, were among Jeep's first crossover SUVs. The second-generation Compass debuted in September 2016 in Brazil and at the Los Angeles International Auto Show in November 2016, sharing a modified platform with the Renegade. It is positioned between the smaller Renegade and the larger Cherokee globally or the Commander in South America.
Concept
Four years prior to the introduction of the production Jeep Compass, a concept vehicle with the same name had its world premiere in Detroit at the 2002 North American International Auto Show. It featured a two-door body, all-wheel drive and a 3.7-liter V6 engine.
The 3.7 L Power-Tech V6 engine from the Jeep Liberty was not available in the new Compass for 2007, though the production model Compass kept the concept car's styling cues and some of its features. The production model Compass also had four doors instead of the two doors on the concept car.

Common 2008 Jeep Compass problems
The 2008 Jeep Compass is known for several common problems that have been reported by owners.
Another common problem with the 2008 Jeep Compass is suspension and driveline issues, including bad control arms and wheel bearings. These problems can affect the vehicle's handling and ride quality, making it uncomfortable and potentially unsafe to drive.
Rust damage is also a common issue with the 2008 Jeep Compass, particularly around the rear wheels. This can weaken the vehicle's structure and lead to more severe problems down the line.
The TIPM (Totally Integrated Power Module) is another component that has caused issues for 2008 Jeep Compass owners. Problems with TIPM modules can cause various electrical faults, and the replacement of these modules can be expensive. Cheaper aftermarket TIPM modules are available, but they may require reprogramming, which can add to the overall cost of the repair.
The 2008 Jeep Compass is also known for having issues with the alternator decoupler pulley, which can cause a whining noise.
The code P0456 is often caused by a bad gas cap or a failed EVAP leak detection unit, which can be confirmed by testing the EVAP system for leaks.
The 2008 Jeep Compass's 2.4L engine can also experience issues with the intake manifold, causing the code P2004. The common repair for this issue is to replace the intake manifold, which is a time-consuming job taking approximately 2.0 hours in addition to the cost of the part.
Lastly, the 2008 Jeep Compass has been known to have issues with the TIPM module, which can cause various electrical faults. The TIPM module is the main fuse box under the hood and is expensive to replace. Cheaper aftermarket TIPM modules are available, but they may need to be reprogrammed, which can add to the overall cost of the repair.
In conclusion, the 2008 Jeep Compass has several common problems that owners should be aware of, including no-start and stalling issues, suspension and driveline problems, rust damage, TIPM module problems, alternator decoupler pulley issues, EVAP system problems, and intake manifold issues. Regular maintenance and prompt repairs can help mitigate these issues and ensure the vehicle remains safe and reliable.

- Summary: Front and Rear Crossmember Corrosion (X69 Warranty Extension) - 2008-2012 Dodge Caliber & Jeep Compass/Patriot- NHTSA ID # 10140027 My Daughter was recently given a 2008 Jeep Compass by a family member for her 16th birthday. We took it to our local Auto serviceman who checked the car out, and made us aware of the Warranty Extension b/c the Font Crossmembers are rusted out. We live in Ohio and would qualify for the Warranty, yet the car is past the 10 year timeframe. Other than this issue, the car is in great shape, only 85K miles. I contacted the dealership and Chrysler about the issue, and both said they would not honor the warranty. My questions are, is there anything else I can do, and if this is done as an extended warranty, are all customers formally notified? Why would the dealership not ever recommend the fix if they serviced the car, which according to this family member, never happened? There has been no accident, but the car rattles a little when driven, so I want to fix it before something does happen.

When I was searching for a new car, I wanted something bigger than my 2004 Hyundai Elantra, so I decided to trade it in for a small SUV. I was immediately drawn to the unique look of the Jeep Compass and knew I had to check it out. During my test drives, I found that the Dodge Caliber was okay, but it didn't have the power I was looking for with its 2.0 liter engine. However, the Compass was a perfect fit for me. I love how it sits up higher and gives me more control on the road. I ended up choosing the Rallye Edition with the 18

We're so glad to hear that you're enjoying driving the Compass! It sounds like it has plenty of space, especially compared to other SUVs you looked at. The speed stick on the CVT is a great feature, and it's wonderful to hear that you haven't had any issues with city/highway driving. We're sorry to hear that the tail gate can be a bit noisy in extreme cold (-25c), but overall it sounds like you're really happy with your Compass!

I'm so glad you found a car that meets your needs! This SUV-like car is great for gas mileage, averaging 27 mpg, while still providing comfortable room for passengers and a fair amount of storage space in the back. It also rides higher up and has plenty of leg room. I'm happy to hear that you're enjoying the smooth shifting of the standard transmission.

So far this vehicle has been great! I'm glad to say that I haven't had any complaints against it. I find it to be really comfortable to ride/drive in. I like the way it handles, but I'm not a speed demon anyways. I read the Editor's reviews before purchasing and I'm happy to say that I don't have any regrets on buying this vehicle.

The seats are excellent, the build quality is good, and I haven't had any initial problems. I was also able to get a lifetime warranty that covers the drivetrain, and for an additional $2k, I got the bumper to bumper lifetime warranty. It's a fun car to drive, and it's roomy, plus it's American made. I'm actually planning on going back to buy another one for my daughter.

I've had the compass for a month now and I absolutely love it! Although I've only run one tank through it (it's my second vehicle), I got 26 mpg on the first tank and it hasn't even been broken in yet with only 300 miles on it total. I bought the plain jane version with nothing on it to brag about, but so far, I haven't had any problems. It's a great vehicle for the money, especially with the $250 cash back offer, which made it a $15,000 vehicle. Talk about getting bang for your buck!

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share my experience with my Jeep Compass. I purchased it used and it had one owner with a good Carfax report. However, after a year of ownership, I've had to spend over $3800 on repairs and there are still more to come. As a long-time Jeep owner, I'm disappointed in the quality of the Compass model. My previous Jeeps were tough machines that lasted for years, but the repair costs for the Compass are just too high in my opinion. I'm not sure if I'll be purchasing another Jeep after this experience, but I'm hopeful that they'll improve their quality in the future. Thanks for listening!

Approaching 2 months and 2000 miles of commuting in Washington, DC. The average MPG of 23.5 is not bad, especially considering the second worst traffic in the nation. Although the CVT could be traded for Avenger's 4 spd auto, even at the expense of mileage, I love the overall driving position and utility. I do wish there was less flash/rough edges where hands spend most time -- steering wheel and gear shift handle. The wide a-pillar width can be distracting when rounding curves. The rear seat leg room is adequate, but I wouldn't want to sit on those seats for any length of time. Overall, it's a competent beater, but its quirks probably give it the lifespan, and legacy, of an AMC Pacer.

The ride is fairly comfortable and somewhat fun, although it stalls out in the morning hours. We currently have a computer installed in the car to try to find the problem. I'm concerned about the safety of my family in case of a car accident caused by the car stalling out, but I'm hopeful that we can find a solution. If necessary, we may have to take legal action against the dealer and Chrysler.

My father and I recently purchased a car that we thought was a good deal for the price. Unfortunately, we were both disappointed with our purchase and decided to return it after only 9 days. The interior of the car was not up to our standards and looked cheaply made. Additionally, the buttons were poorly constructed and there were no interesting options such as USB connections. Despite being advertised as having only 4 cylinders, the car consumed more fuel than we expected. We were also surprised to find out that 4-wheel drive was not a standard feature, especially when compared to other models like the Grand Vitara or the Tuscon, which are similarly priced or even less expensive than the Compass. Overall, we were not satisfied with our experience, but we hope to find a better car in the future.
