- Summary: At times the vehicle accelerates by itself albeit I am not touching the gas pedal. While driving the vehicle at 45 mph, I take my foot off of the accelerator and the vehicle maintains the 45 mph speed or increases speed if I am driving down a hill or any downward gradient regardless of the angle of decent. When I try to stop the vehicle using the foot brake it continues to maintain speed and if I put the shift lever in neutral, while trying to stop, the RPM's increase from approximately 1500 rpm's to 3200 rpm's until the vehicle comes to a complete stop, and then, only after approximately five seconds do the RPM's begin to drop to 1000 rpm's. If I am driving the vehicle with cruise control and cancel the cruise control, the vehicle maintains the cruise control speed indefinitely, literally for miles thereafter. I wanted to give this vehicle to my daughter who has multiple sclerosis but it's too dangerous for her to drive with this acceleration problem. Do you have any recommendations for me???

THERE ARE SO MANY COMPLAINTS WITH THE SAME ISSUE AND FORD MOTOR COMPANY HAS DONE NOTHING TO RECALL AND FIX THE PROBLEM. DOES IT TAKE SOMEONE GETTING KILLED FIRST? FORD NEEDS TO STEP UP AND RECALL TO FIX THIS PROBLEM BEFORE PEOPLE ARE KILLED.

AFTER CAREFULLY BACKING OFF RAMPS, IT WAS JACKED UP AND PLACED ON JACK STANDS, AT WHICH TIME IT WAS CLEARLY VISIBLE THE COIL SPRING WAS SNAPPED IN TWO. IT IS A MIRACLE THIS WAS FOUND BEFORE MY SISTER DROVE 70MPH ON THE HIGHWAY SHE WAS ABOUT TO. THIS WOULD'VE CERTAINLY CAUSED A BLOWOUT AND POTENTIALLY A FIRE, AND AT THOSE SPEEDS COULD'VE CERTAINLY BEEN DEADLY.

I HAD TO GET OUT AND PUSH THE CAR IN THE SPOT AND HURRY AND RUSH TO PUSH ON THE BREAK AND PUT THE CAR IN PARK. WHEN I GOT A TOW TO THE DEALERSHIPS AUTO SHOP I EXPLAINED THIS IS MY SECOND TIME HERE UNDER THE SAME CIRCUMSTANCES , I ALSO CALLED THE DEALERSHIP PLEADING TO GIVE THE CAR BACK AND TO BE REFUNDED I BARLEY GOT TO ENJOY OR USE THE BEGUILE WITHOUT IT BEING A PROBLEM . I WAS TOLD THEY DON'T ALLOW REFUNDS AND THERE AUTO SHOP WILL FIX THE CAR , SO WHEN THEY SAID THE CAR WAS READY ON 12/15/2018 IT DROVE WELL BUT IT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON I WENT TO AUTO ZONE FOR A FREE TEST AND I GOT A PO430 CODE , I CALLED THE AUTO SHOP BEFORE THEY CLOSED BECAUSE THEY TOLD ME ON THE 14TH ALL WHAT WAS WRONG WAS A FUEL PUMP AND THEY REPLACED IT BUT IT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE CATALYST SYSTEM I BEEN SMELLING A BURING SMELL COMING THROUGH MY VENTS FOR A WHILE BUT NEVER REALLY KNEW WHAT IT WAS . - Summary: TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 FORD TAURUS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE THROTTLE CONTROL CABLE BECAME STUCK. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE DRIVER PLACED EXCESSIVE PRESSURE ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, AND SHUT OFF THE ENGINE. THE CONTACT ASSISTED THE DRIVER WITH RELEASING THE STUCK CABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED. THE CONTACT CALLED AVIS FORD INC AT 248-355-7500 (29200 TELEGRAPH RD, SOUTHFIELD, MICHIGAN 48034) AND WAS INFORMED THAT AN UNKNOWN RECALL REPAIR WAS PREVIOUSLY PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE AND WOULD NOT BE DONE AGAIN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 115,000.

- Summary: Bosch Brake Components LLC (Bosch) is recalling certain aftermarket replacement front brake pads, models Bosch QuietCast BC598 and BP765, Bosch Blue BE598 and BE598H, Prostop PD598 and PD765M, Duralast Gold DG598, Duralast MKD598, Stop Master ST598, UltraStop ULT598, UltraLife MX598 and MX765, BrakeBest MKD765, and Prostop Platinum PGD598. These brake pads, manufactured October 1, 2014, to October 31, 2015 are intended for use on 2001-2007 Ford Taurus, 2001-2005 Mercury Sable, 1995-1999 Ford Taurus SHO, 1995-2002 Lincoln Continental, and 1993-1998 Lincoln Mark VIII vehicles. The brake pad shim may shift out of position causing the shim to contact the brake disc resulting in damage to the disc.
- Consequence: A damaged or broken brake disc may reduce a vehicle's braking power, increasing the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: Bosch will instruct the owners how to have the affected brake pads replaced, free of charge. The recall began on May 26, 2016. Owners may contact Bosch customer service at 1-888-715-3616.

- Summary: CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES ARE BEING RECALLED TO CORRECT A PROBLEM WITH A MALFUNCTIONING STOP LAMP SWITCH AND/OR ASSOCIATED WIRING. THIS MALFUNCTIONING COULD RENDER THE STOP LAMPS INOPERABLE OR CAUSE THEM TO STAY ON ALL THE TIME. THIS COULD CAUSE CONFUSION TO A FOLLOWING DRIVER, WHICH COULD LEAD TO A CRASH.
- Consequence: IN ADDITION, IF THE SWITCH AND/OR ASSOCIATED WIRING FAIL IN THE OPEN POSITION, THE BRAKE LIGHTS WILL NOT ACTUATE AND THE DRIVER WILL NOT BE ABLE TO SHIFT THE VEHICLE OUT OF "PARK" IF THEY FAIL IN THE CLOSED POSITION, THE BRAKE LIGHTS WILL REMAIN ON, WHICH WILL NOT ALLOW THE SPEED CONTROL TO BE ACTIVATED. THIS COULD ALSO CAUSE THE BATTERY TO DISCHARGE.
- Remedy: DEALERS WILL REMOVE THE STOP LAMP SWITCH AND ASSOCIATED WIRING ASSEMBLY AND INSTALL A NEWLY DESIGNED STOP LAMP SWITCH AND WIRE ASSEMBLY. OWNER NOTIFICATION IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN ON APRIL 5, 2004. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT FORD AT 1-800-392-3673.

We've already covered 1200 miles in just the first week, but everything's going great so far! Our mixed driving has been getting us 23 mpg, which is fantastic considering this is a fully loaded car (minus the wood kit). It's been years since my wife and I have purchased a new car, and after looking at Toyota, Honda, and Nissan, we found that the Taurus SEL gave us the most bang for our buck.

It's a company car that was given to me, but I still love it. This car is one of the best all-around options for the money, especially with all the driving I do. It's roomy, quiet, safe, and performs well in all areas, although it may not excel in any particular one. Additionally, it handles very well in snowy conditions. While it may not be as reliable in the long term as an Accord or Camry, it is still head and shoulders above the Dodge Stratus. It's worth noting that we typically trade in our cars at 80,000 miles, and previous company Tauruses have run well.

I really enjoy my Taurus, especially with the DOHC engine and leather interior. However, I did experience some issues with the fuel pump. Over the course of three years of ownership, I had to change it three times. During the installation of the second pump, I accidentally bent the float arm, which caused my fuel gauge to be incorrect for almost a year. To fix the issue, I decided to remove the tank from under the vehicle and take a closer look. To my surprise, I found a yellow work glove floating inside the gas tank. It seems like this car may have been built on a Monday with a disgruntled worker assembling the gas tank. Hopefully, now that the glove has been removed, the car will run even better without any restrictions on the suction side of the fuel pump. It's worth noting that the interior dimensions are a bit small for a car of this size.

Hi there! I wanted to share my experience with my 2003 SES. I bought it back in September 2003 with only 13,000 miles on it, and I've been really happy with it ever since. I've only had to make one repair, which cost me $400 for the camsynchronizer. With over 120,000 miles on it, the car still runs great and I haven't had to change the brakes or make any other repairs. In terms of fuel economy, I've been getting around 24 to 26 mpg on the interstate and around 18 to 20 mpg in town. Thanks for listening!

The 1997 Taurus Wagon was a reliable form of transportation for a while. Although, we did encounter some issues when we hit 75,000 miles. Unfortunately, the head gasket blew, and we had to pay $2500 for an engine rebuild on a 5-year-old car that was only worth $3750 as a trade-in.

I've had my vehicle for a year now and have driven it from 89,000 to 98,000 miles. I really enjoy driving it, but have had some issues with the brakes. Unfortunately, the brake line broke and the disk on the wheel broke when I pressed too hard. Despite this, I still rate the brakes highly. The car is very spacious on the inside, which I appreciate. I've been in two accidents with the car, one involving a deer and the other where I went under a semi trailer and the rear wheel hit the stands. Thankfully, I was not injured in either accident because the airbags deployed each time. I'm not sure if this is standard, but all the airbags went off in both cases, even when I hit the deer. Overall, I'm happy with my car and its safety features.

I have owned several Ford vehicles, including other Taurus models, but unfortunately, this particular year and model has not met my expectations in terms of reliability and performance. The brakes are subpar and the parts seem to be of poor quality, resulting in frequent repairs. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this car. It is disappointing to see such a lack of quality and innovation from Ford.

The car is a good value overall, especially if you're looking for a reliable mode of transportation. While the engine is strong, the brakes and suspension could be improved. The steering could also benefit from more feedback for a better driving experience. If you're a driver who values road feel, a Passat might be a better fit. However, if you're looking for an American-made car, this is a great option. As someone who has always driven American cars, I can attest to its quality. My previous car was a base 1995 Jetta with a weak engine, but even that car feels more solid and fun to drive than this brand new one!

I purchased this vehicle with only 8000 miles, but unfortunately, after a year, it started having problems that the dealership has been unable to fix. The issues have become increasingly dangerous, with the car stalling out and restarting, accompanied by a loud pop and all electrical systems coming on. During one incident, the steering shut down, and I was unable to complete a turn, nearly causing an accident. Despite taking it to the dealership multiple times, they have been unable to identify the root cause of the problem. As a result, I have lost confidence in Ford and will not be purchasing from them again.
