When the light turned green and I had let go of the brakes. My car was accelerating on its own. I had to keep pumping the brakes so I wouldn't crash or hurt anyone. I managed to pull into a mechanic's shop and asked for help. The mechanic told me that it was my cruise control and that it wasn't disengaging. So he had to disconnect it from my car.

I have to step on the break extremely hard to come to a stop, and car will still be doing around 40mph when at a complete stop or light. The check engine light has been on, and I have taken it to a mechanic twice, one of the times he had it for a month trying to figure out what that light is about, checking everything possible, but I am not sure if that light has anything to do with the accelerator.

This is presumed to be a collision sensor relationship. I am in the process of restoration and replacement of the affected components. I have difficulty in data and trouble shoot information on the website and brand dealership. (Napa, Adv.auto parts, auto zone, orielly, salvage yards. I have spent $163.50 at Ford dealer charged me. I spent $269.70 at the American automobile association. No repairs have taken place by these people who have been advised that the manufacturer of the vehicle is alerts for further information and details of the job description and replacement parts for airbags components and sensors and clockspring set. I have been advised to contact the seller and demand replacement at no cost to me. To top it all off, Mercury and Ford plants keep duping each other and me for more money on a known defective product and vehicle.A Holdover surplus of one brand to another brand. These being as 2004 Mercury Sable airbag module and 2005 Ford Taurus airbags components and sensors and clockspring and sudden acceleration by cruise control modules and defects. Help please.   • Summary: SEEMS AS IF THE CAR ACCELERATOR GET STUCK. CAR SLOWLY BEGINS TO INCREASE IN SPEED. WHEN FOOT IS TAKEN OFF OF THE PEDAL CAR CONTINUES TO INCREASE IN SPEED, EVEN WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKE. I TAKE A LOOK UNDER THE HOOD AND FROM WHAT I CAN SEE THERE IS A PLASTIC PIECE CONNECTED TO THE ACCELERATOR CABLE THE BECOMES DETACHED FROM THE ACTUAL ACCELERATOR BRACKET SO TO SPEAK. IDK WHAT ACTUAL TERMINOLOGY IS. IT IS VERY HARD TO AND GET THE ACCELERATOR OUT OF THE STUCK POSITION. ONLY WAY I HAVE HAD SUCCESS WITH GETTING THE ACCELERATOR OUT OF THE STUCK POSITION IS TO VERY RAPIDLY PRESS PEDAL TO FLOOR AND RELEASE. ONLY THEN IT RELEASES FROM THE STUCK POSITION.

  • Summary: AFTER DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY THE CAR BEGAN TO ACCELERATE ON ITS OWN WHILE TRYING TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP OFF THE EXIT. THE CAR BEGAN TO ACCELERATE EVEN MORE PULLING FORWARD ALTHOUGH I WAS PUSHING DOWN THE BRAKES AS HARD AS I COULD AND THE CAR STILL DROVE FORWARD NOT ALLOWING ME TO STOP UNTIL I PULLED THE GEAR INTO NEUTRAL TO ALLOW ME TO SLOW DOWN. I ALMOST CRASHED RIGHT INTO ANOTHER CAR BECAUSE THE ACCELERATOR WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO BRAKE (WITH MY CHILD IN THE CAR AS WELL). IT HAPPENED AGAIN THE NEXT DAY, AND IS STILL A VERY SERIOUS ISSUE. I FEAR FOR MY LIFE AND REFUSE TO DRIVE THIS CAR WITH MY CHILDREN IN IT AS WELL AS THE SAFETY OF OTHER DRIVERS ON THE ROAD. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS PROBLEM AND IT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED AND RECALLED IMMEDIATELY. SOMEONE IS GOING TO END UP SERIOUSLY HURT OR DEAD BECAUSE OF THIS SEVERELY DANGEROUS ISSUE. PLEASE DO SOMETHING! ALSO, WHEN PUTTING THE CAR IN PARK THE RPM REV'S UP TO 3000/4000 EVEN AFTER TURN OFF THE CAR AND RESTARTING IT. THE CAR IS CURRENTLY AT 95,280 MILES.

  • Summary: Bosch Brake Components LLC (Bosch) is recalling certain aftermarket replacement front brake pads, models Bosch QuietCast BC598 and BP765, Bosch Blue BE598 and BE598H, Prostop PD598 and PD765M, Duralast Gold DG598, Duralast MKD598, Stop Master ST598, UltraStop ULT598, UltraLife MX598 and MX765, BrakeBest MKD765, and Prostop Platinum PGD598. These brake pads, manufactured October 1, 2014, to October 31, 2015 are intended for use on 2001-2007 Ford Taurus, 2001-2005 Mercury Sable, 1995-1999 Ford Taurus SHO, 1995-2002 Lincoln Continental, and 1993-1998 Lincoln Mark VIII vehicles. The brake pad shim may shift out of position causing the shim to contact the brake disc resulting in damage to the disc.
  • Consequence: A damaged or broken brake disc may reduce a vehicle's braking power, increasing the risk of a crash.
  • Remedy: Bosch will instruct the owners how to have the affected brake pads replaced, free of charge. The recall began on May 26, 2016. Owners may contact Bosch customer service at 1-888-715-3616.

    I would like to share my experience with this car model. It has had some issues with the accelerator pedal getting stuck, which has been reported by over 3 million people. Unfortunately, it happened to me while I was driving and I had to call 911. However, I found a solution that has worked for several months now. I watched a video on YouTube where an older man suggested a fix for this exact model. I gave the Ford mechanic the information from the video and he was able to fix it. The video man suggested doing something with the cruise control switch, and it appears that once we fixed that, it helped. I still owe a lot of money on the car, but once I can afford another one, I will get one quickly.     I purchased my Taurus back in 2007 when it had around 40K miles on it. The gas mileage ranges from 15 to 18 mpg, and unfortunately, it does not have anti-lock brakes. After about a year of driving it, I started experiencing issues with the throttle sticking. The car continues to accelerate even after I remove my foot from the gas pedal, which can be quite concerning. I also encountered problems with O2 sensors 1 and 4, which caused the car to misfire and occasionally stall when backing up or during slow turning, such as pulling into a parking spot. Unfortunately, I was quoted around $400 to replace both O2 sensors, and even more to diagnose the other issues. Due to unforeseen circumstances, I lost my job and can no longer afford to fix the car, which is now being repossessed.

    I get more miles per tank of gas with this car compared to my 1999 Taurus. However, the interior control panel is not well-designed as the speedometer is blocked by the steering wheel on the right. To view the speedometer, I have to tilt the wheel up higher or use my right hand. Additionally, I feel like I have less headroom in this car compared to the 1999 model. When sitting close enough to reach the pedals and steering wheel, my head is very close to the visor, and it feels like there is less space in the front seat.

    Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share my experience with my 2005 Ford Taurus that I bought used in 2007 with 60,000 miles. I got a great deal on it! In the first year of owning the car, I didn't have any issues, but unfortunately, I've had to replace all four tires every year for the last three years (even though I rotated them at every oil change at 3,000 miles). I've also had to replace the brakes twice in the time I've had the car, along with other regular repairs. Recently, the car has been jerking while accelerating up to around 40-45 MPH and while backing up. On top of all of that, the car hasn't been great on gas mileage.
